It’s nice to read quality fluff content when the main manga is currently in chaos. The tie in to the second movie was also cool to see

Nothing but hilarious fun! The mangaka really took “ludicrous” to a new level with the off the wall scenarios and team-ups these characters find themselves in and I loved it!

I laughed over most of them but especially the noodle crafting, Monama’s “secret message”, and the carnival rescue ones, not to mention the crazy hero with his sidekicks basically telling him off after every line he said, haha. And All Might and Mic’s radio show! So many good ones in here with a variety of characters and wacky situations, plus one that peeks back into Deku and Bakugo’s past.

Enjoyed this one a lot, looking forward to reading the others!

The artwork is really close to the original and I can hardly believe the artist is someone else.

The short stories are a lot of fun, I like the stories about the Heroes Show, All Might going to Present Mic's program and answering the audience's questions, Shouto's training with his hot-headed teammates and Deku going to meet a mysterious Hero (?) with two Darkness heroes-in-training.

The artwork looks a lot like the artwork by the original artist/manga-ka, but it is still slightly different on closer inspection.

Too bad the last story is a bit on the 'to be continued' side.

This is good. I just did not "feel" it. At least there are students from other hero schools. But some of these are not actual team-ups via the school? I don't know you give a writer access to one of the most popular set of Anime and Manga characters who then produces average comics. Despite the all the characters name dropping and knowing everything about every hero in Japan in one story they don't realize they were not at the Hero Agency to which they were assigned.

So, meh?

Such a cute set of side stories featuring some of my favorites. I loved getting to see Oijro and Hagakure in a team up, Todoroki experiencing a theme park, and a side story of a villain event from Bakugo and Midoriyas past when they were in middle school. Great volume overall!

Acheté en français aussi par mégarde. Étrangement la traduction française est sortie avant la traduction anglaise, c’est en partie pourquoi je me suis laissé prendre. Cela m’a permis de tester la traduction française, qui est assez bien réussie d’ailleurs. Sinon, pour ce volume, le style est fidèle à My Hero Academia, mais le côté «missions» qui se succèdent sans vraiment de fil conducteur autre qu’explorer l’univers et approfondir légèrement certains personnages. Trop peu pour moi je trouve, je ne suis pas certain que je vais continuer cette série. Je pense me concentrer surtout sur la série originale et sur Vigilantes qui pour le moment me plait bien!

Fun one shot stories with some of my favorite MHA characters teaming up to take on villains. Low stakes, slice of life stuff with plenty of funny moments. The art by Yoko Akiyama is great, too. Three of the shorts didn’t grab me at all which is why I knocked off one star. But the ones I did enjoy were great, and I’ll definitely revisit the ones with Shouto, and the Bakugo and Deku flashback one.

I'm always wary of spin-offs from successful franchises, but this series is just as good as the main series. It's very comedic and had me laughing and smiling at several points. A very enjoyable series.

First off, we're greeted with some very beautiful full-page artwork throughout the volume, in particular of some under-used characters we don't get to see much off, which is always appreciated!

The individual missions are absolutely hilarious. They're light-hearted and definitely needed if you're caught up with the anime and/or manga, as it's not exactly a happy time right now! They also allow us to see combinations of characters that we don't get to see in the main series!

We're introduced to some unknown pro-heroes, my favourite being the Edgelord Hero: Odd-Eye from the first mission. He gave me a giggle for sure with his flare for the dramatic. He has a pretty cool quirk (which I won't spoil) but it fits his hero name so well. Tokoyami, Deku, and Kuroiro from 1-B join up for mission 1. It was cool to see Tokoyami and Kiroiro together again, like they were in the Joint Battle Training Arc. We got to learn a little more about our young heroes, especially Tokoyami and Kuroiro. A 1-B romance was confirmed too, which was very sweet.

Mission 2 was another hilarious mission, involving Kaminari and Todoroki, as well as two familiar faces from Shiketsu High School: Shishikura and Inasa. They're a surprisingly funny combination as they take part in a rip-off Hell's Kitchen style mission, with a character who isn't too dissimilar to Gordon Ramsey himself! It tests their quirks in a fun and silly way, but it turns out to be particularly useful when they face off against some villains. The highlight had to be Todoroki's growth, however. We see in the way he interacts with Inasa that he's less cold and proud, opening up more and taking initiative in teamwork.

Mission 3 involved Hagakure and Ojiro, where they go to a remote island to give a talk about heroism to very young hero-hopefuls. Poor Ojiro is ripped on about having a 'plain' quirk compared to most heroes, and to some extent he is when compared to the powerful quirks of his classmates, but he has his time to shine during an Indiana Jones-style mission mixed in with a rescue, where he relates to one of the children who also has a 'plain' quirk, yet still wants to be a hero. It's a touching story about how anyone can be a hero, mixed in with some sweet Ojiro and Hagakure moments.

Mission 4 was less intense but just as funny, involving Present Mic and All Might, a pair we've not really seen together before. It gives us a look into Mic's radio show as All Might is a guest star on it as they answer questions submitted by U.A. kids. It's amusing to see All Might being out of touch with modern phrases, where Mic is 'down with the kids', so to speak, but Mic helps him loosen up. All Might is torn between being a good teacher and giving good advice and coming across as entertaining for Mic's show, and the outcome is very funny. It was lovely to see All Might be given some spotlight, especially since in the recent anime season and manga chapters, All Might has taken a bit of a backseat.

Mission 5 follows on from the previous one, with Monoma and the 1-A kids. A huge misunderstanding has Monoma somewhat bonding with 1-A, the sweethearts that they are, due to a funny miscommunication. They put their rivalry aside and are willing to help Monoma, leaving the 1-B student utterly confused. It was very sweet as well as amusing.

The final mission involved a very entertaining group: Bakugou, Todoroki, Kirishima, and Camie from Shiketsu High School. They're summoned to a rundown theme park and are tasked with putting on a play to drive revenue and attention to the park. Whilst it makes you laugh with grumpy Bakugou, clueless Todoroki, and optimistic Kirishima, there's a tinge of sadness, where Todoroki's bad childhood makes an appearance, but his friends make sure to rectify it! This mission was full of Kirishima and Bakugou friendship moments, seeing how Kirishima has learned how to persuade Bakugou into doing things he's being stubborn about. We also get to see Camie show off her quirk! It's more useful as it seems, and shows how she's on the hero course.

Finally, there's a one-shot at the end of the volume involving Bakugou and Deku pre-U.A. High School, with the pair in middle school. Even back then, when Deku was quirkless, he still had his brains and analytical skills. He manages without a quirk, even if he gets himself into situations that are far too dangerous for him. But we also see a little snippet into Bakugou's thoughts about Deku at that time, and how he - albiet grudgingly - admits Deku's cleverness. Plus, there's a cool cameo of a villain from the 2nd My Hero Academia movie!

Overall, another amazing volume. I only wish that each mission was longer! I'm really enjoying this series, and I'm excited to pick up volume 3 when I can get my hands on it!

Même si j’aimerais avancer dans la série principale, j’ai aussi les spins off à lire, donc autant avancer également dans leur lecture. Je pense que je vais même terminer certains d’entre eux. Team up mission est encore en cours, je ne sais pas combien de tomes sont prévus exactement, la série pourrait bien durer un petit moment comme c’est des petites histoires. Celles-ci permettent de mettre en avant des personnages qui n’ont pas l’habitude d’être ensemble.

La première intrigue est assez drôle, elle met en avant les deux personnages de l’ombre avec un héros dans le même style. Le plus drôle étant qu’Izuku est intégré au groupe et se sent totalement de trop. Il faut dire que le spiritisme et les phrases dans ce style ne sont pas son genre du coup il a bien du mal à suivre. Pourtant, il garde son sérieux en essayant de comprendre, sans y parvenir. Il ne connait pas le héros qu’il a devant lui, alors même qu’il tenait des carnets à leur sujet, il est expliqué que ce héros garde précieusement ses informations. Son alter ne semble pas être de type combat, d’où son côté assez discret je suppose. Il doit servir uniquement de soutien ou lors d’interrogatoires, sinon je ne vois pas trop son intérêt. Je me demande même s’il est même cohérent comme personnage vu la sélection drastique pour entrer en filière héroïque. Ou alors il a des compétences de combats insoupçonnés ? C’est dommage que Fumikage soit encore montré en train de perdre le contrôle de son alter, même si c’est l’un de ses points faibles, il vaut tellement mieux que ça. Le fait que son alter révèle la honte que sa cible récent peut-être un sacré atout, même si je le vois mal être suffisant en combat, peut-être qu’il maîtrise des arts martiaux aussi, mais cette histoire ne le mettra pas en valeur sur ce point. Le trio en prendra surtout pour son grade, sauf Fumikage même s’il aura juste bien caché son jeu. J’aime beaucoup les doubles pages qui servent d’introduction à la nouvelle histoire, dommage qu’elles soient en noir et blanc, en couleur elles seraient encore mieux.

Il y a encore cinq autres histoires puis des bonus. Elles sont toutes assez sympa et mettent en scène nos apprenties héros de différentes manières. Entre la cuisine et le spectacle il y a de quoi faire. Ses deux autres histoires sont très plaisantes car elles mettent en avant des élèves d’autres écoles (que j’espère revoir dans l’intrigue principale). D’ailleurs l’intrigue du spectacle a vraiment de quoi faire rire, si Bakugo savait ce que Camie lui a fait dire, je suis sûre qu’il essaierait de l’attaquer… En tout cas, cette nouvelle apparition donne vraiment l’impression que Tôga l’avait bien copiée jusque dans sa mentalité. J’aimerais beaucoup voir ce personnage plus souvent, ce sera sans doute le cas dans ce spin off. Quant à l’intrigue sur la cuisine, ça montre bien qu’il serait cool de pouvoir utiliser son alter lorsqu’on travaille, même sans être un super-héros. Elle aussi me semble incohérente, car le chef cuistot ne tic même pas quand les élèves utilisent leurs alters alors que c’est interdit et qu’ils se sont plantés d’endroit… Du coup, même si c’est très drôle et intéressant à suivre, je trouve que le gérant est assez louche pour ne pas avoir eu de réactions. Le fait que le groupe soit grondé pour s’être trompé d’adresse, par contre, c’est épique, comme quoi certains ne sont pas aussi doués qu’ils en ont l’air.

The timing of this program couldn’t be better, as our heroes-to-be need all the prepping they can get. As such, get ready to see new matches and team-ups as our students learn new tricks and perfect old skills.

Review:

I have meant to read My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions for WAY too long, so I’m happy to dive back into this series. It’s just as fun and chaotic as I remembered, offering light entertainment to balance out the heaviness of the current MHA arc.

My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions Vol. 2 brings us back to the characters we know and love so much, and as expected, they’re in unique team combinations. Most of the pairings were a lot of fun, either because they were expected or highly requested (or both). I wish the pacing allowed for a bit more time with each group/event.

There’s no denying that this is an action-packed series with a focus on what can be achieved with each new team-up. I don’t know how canon the series is (I’m assuming not much?), but seeing the heroes in this environment is a delight. I always felt like we needed to see more training in the main MHA arc.

Bonus points for getting the artwork so perfect. This looks and feels like the main MHA story, so the transition isn’t alarming. It feels perfectly natural.

I've been falling out of love with this series, and the main one at that. I can't believe I used to think this was peak shōnen writing. My bad for being influenced by the hype.

The first team-up mission was the most interesting and best written, though still not good enough. The second one was about the same. The third one had more substance and gave the character Ojiro more depth while giving barely anything to Hagakure. It is shōnen, so why bother with any depth for the female characters?

The fourth story was the most terrible one. I've always disliked Present Mic. Such a prestigious school, but having a teacher give terrible advice to students is ridiculous. It's just plain nonsense that leads up to the fifth story. Speaking of the fifth story, it was partly entertaining. I do enjoy the character Monoma and his tiff with Class 1-A. The sixth story was the second worst. Just plain—no.

This volume also contains two stories that are a prequel to My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising movie. But nothing is missed by not reading it.

Some more vignettes about the MHA kids. It's nice to have the focus on characters that don't get to shine as much in the main book, but I really thought there'd be some more cohesiveness to this rather than just a load of done-in-ones. The Present Mic/All-Might story follows up in the next chapter, but otherwise most of these stand alone.

Some of the stories are better than others. The Heroes Rising prologue story was neat (although a two parter being billed as two one-shots is weird) although I'm not sure the timeline lines up properly. The amusement park and noodle shop stories are basically the same thing in different places. The Ojiro and Hagakure one was sweet, and probably my favourite.

Cute, but not really capitalising on the premise as much as it could so far.

This volume had some odd combinations, but it made it fun to read. There was also a story that is a prequel of sorts to the My Hero Academia Heroes Rising movie. In that prequel, it seems to kill Bakugo to give Izuku a compliment (or what was leaning towards a compliment)! That is all I am going to say about that. We actual got a story focused on Ojiro and Hagakure, which was amazing on to itself for we do not see much of these characters in the main storyline. We also see a character from the whole hero licensing exam/extra lessons arcs. This character gave its quirk a REAL workout.

Verdict: This was a pretty good volume, but I liked the first volume better even though I gave this four stars.

This second installment of the spin-off series once again has beautiful breathtaking art and story done by Yoko Akiyama! This second volume features even more UA students and s a mix of fun and overcoming difficulties of these on the job training sessions! I don’t think the purpose of these books is to do anything more than show some adventures to back up the growth which has occurred in the main title book. That is not meant to be a bad thing, but just my observation as I completed this second volume of the spin-off series. From rapping to treasure hunting, to saving a food shop the stories are fun and light but continue to give us a little more insight to this large cast of remarkable kids.

This is my first Team-Up Missions reading as the physical form of the first one is still out of stock in stores and online and it has been such a nice read to take your mind off of the recent chapters of the main plot. The little stories with the characters brought more understanding and personality towards them and I'm so excited to see what the future mini stories hold!

I really do want to know about the Edgelord hero: Odd-eye as he's gained my interest despite acting like an older and darker version of Monoma. Also, the chapter in which Monoma was with class 1-A made everything feel so domestic!! I loved it~

So, I finished this book late last night and it was an absolute joy to read! I just love seeing the students of Class 1-A on these fun little team-up missions! It just brings a smile to my face since the anime is about to be very sad with the war-arc coming up. I think one of my favorite things was reading the ‘Deku and Bakugou Rising’ one-shots. I personally love those two characters and I thought it was really cool how Nine (the Villain from Heros Rising) was tied into this little story as well! I seriously cannot wait to read the next one and see what the BNHA manga has in store for us! :)

MHA is a big hit with many age groups. Even I adore it even though shonen typically isn’t my forte. The author does an excellent job of building relationships and developing characters. The characters are all exciting and appealing.. even the villains are likable for the most part.
These stories made me laugh so much! I gotta go back and read volume 1 and then read the rest of the series as it’s published

Pretty cute. Again, what makes this my favorite My Hero series is the lack of sexualization of female characters. The art is close to the original, the stories are pretty fun and it’s enjoyable enough to keep me reading.

This one doesn’t have as many fun team ups as the first. I enjoyed All Might working with Present Mic. It was cool to see Bakugo, Todoroki and Kirishima team up! Though Camie had a hard job in that one, lol. The last story was a tale pre the series with Bakugo and Deku.

4.5! The tailman and invisible girl story and the monoma story weren’t the best which is why I docked it a star but all the other stories were so cute! I really do love this series it’s very lighthearted and funny. I also love the extra Bakugo content as well.
