Home is where the heart is. But what if you don't have one?

When Jaxson Adams is forced out of the service on a medical discharge, he returns to his hometown to find that very little has changed. The problem is, he has.

He’s no longer the carefree, wild child he’d once been. He’s seen and done things most people couldn’t imagine. Not in their dreams… and not in their worst nightmares.

Even worse, he’s lost his sense of purpose. He doesn’t belong anymore. And no one understands.

Then he finds the letters. Letters that change everything he thought he knew about his family and provide a new mission—to discover the truth and right decades-old wrongs in the process.

Penny Hoffmeier is a romantic at heart, even if the only romance she sees is the stuff she makes herself. She takes great pleasure in creating the perfect bouquets for every occasion from her family’s florist shop in Sumneyville, PA.

She’s a lover, not a fighter, but she likes scuttlebutt as much as the next girl, and the hot, former SEALs who set up a place for returning service men and women nearby are providing plenty of fodder these days.

So far, she’s managed to stay neutral in the escalating tensions between some locals and the Sanctuary guys. However, when the brooding, sexy stranger comes to town with a shocking secret about one of their own, remaining quietly on the sidelines proves impossible.

Will Jaxson be able to achieve his objective and move on with a clear conscience? Or will he make Penny his next mission?

Penny

Penny Hoffmeier ignored the fatigue weighing heavily on her as she drove through the streets of Sumneyville in the early morning fog. Her ongoing battle with insomnia meant she was accustomed to functioning on only a few hours of sleep, but she hadn’t even gotten that. She had been afraid if she did allow herself to get some shut-eye, she’d sleep right through her alarm and not get the flowers to the church on time.

She’d outdone herself, if she did say so herself. So what if she’d had to drive all the way out to Harrisburg to personally pick up the hybrid irises, roses, and calla lilies? It was totally worth it, as was the all-nighter she’d pulled to get each and every bouquet and arrangement absolutely perfect.

A woman’s wedding day should be perfect. She’d been involved in dozens, maybe hundreds of weddings over the years, and she tried to make each as unique and special as the bride herself. Penny was something of a romantic at heart.

The air was pleasantly cool. The sky was just beginning to lighten, an early morning mist hovering just above the ground. She zipped through town with ease, turning up the radio when one of her favorite songs came on but not too loud.

The town’s only stoplight ahead flicked to yellow, but the roads were empty at that hour. Penny pressed her foot down on the gas pedal, hoping to beat the light, and began to execute the left turn that would take her to the church. No one would be there yet, but Reverend McFinley had given her a key just for such occasions.

The full-sized van was great for delivering flowers but not taking turns at higher rates of speed. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the stack of corsage boxes on the passenger seat shift.

One quick glance confirmed her fears. She’d spent far too much time on the intricate mini arrangements to chance them being tossed and squashed, and she reached over with her right arm to hold them in place.

That was when she heard the angry shout, the squeal of tires, and the stomach-turning crunch of metal on asphalt.

“Forsythias!” she blurted out, the only acceptable F-word in her household.

Penny slammed on the brakes, her heart hammering and her blood turning to ice in her veins when she looked back and saw the motorcycle lying on its side in the middle of the street. She searched frantically for its rider, desperately hoping he wasn’t underneath her van.

She exhaled in relief when she saw the man limping toward her, a smudge of black against the light-gray fog.

“Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry!” she said, getting out of the van. “I didn’t see you.”

He grunted. “Obviously. Are you fucking blind or something?”

His deep, growly voice commanded her attention while the hint of an unusual accent garnered her curiosity. It sounded kind of Southern but not really.

Her heart continued to beat harder and faster as he drew closer. He was a big guy, at least six feet tall, with broad shoulders wrapped in black leather. He lifted off his helmet, revealing deep chestnut hair long enough to touch his shoulders and a matching scruff along his very strong jawline. Full male lips were pressed tightly together, and his eyes—an intense and stormy grayish green—glared at her.

Even pissed off, as he clearly was, he was an incredibly attractive man. And definitely not a local.

“Are you okay?” She reached for his arm, but he swatted her hand away.

“I’ll live.”

Penny felt his gaze acutely as he scanned her up and down. A tingle started deep within, followed by an embarrassing tightness in her breasts. When she sucked in a breath, his gaze lifted to her face. His upper lip curled, and he made a sound in the back of his throat. Then, he turned away and stalked back toward his motorcycle, heavily favoring his right leg.

The view of his back was just as pleasant as the one from the front.

He walked several steps before Penny shook off those inappropriate thoughts and reached for her phone. “You’re hurt! Let me call an ambulance.”

“I don’t need an ambulance,” he shot back without bothering to turn around.

She ran after him. “At least let me drive you to the ER so you can get checked out.”

He ignored her, lifting the bike with a grunt and then cursing when he saw the damage. “Fuck me.”

Penny didn’t know a lot about motorcycles, but she knew enough to recognize that something didn’t look right. “Is it bad?”

That lip curled again. “Got a garage around here?”

“Not really. The nearest one’s in Pine Ridge, about twenty miles away.”

And there was that glare again, too. She was pretty sure he could melt ice with it.

“What kind of town doesn’t have a garage?”

“This one, apparently,” she mumbled. “We used to, but …” She let the words trail off when his glare intensified. Clearly, he wasn’t in the mood for local history. “But Zeb Stoltzfus might be able to help. He restores old bikes and stuff.”

“Where can I find him?”

“About two blocks that way,” she said, pointing down the street, “but he won’t be able to help until Monday.”

He blinked at her. “Why not?”

“Because his daughter’s getting married today. I’m actually on my way to the church now to deliver the flowers for the wedding.”

“What about tomorrow?”

“He won’t be in any shape to help you tomorrow. She’s his youngest, and …”

He stared at her as if she were speaking gibberish.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” she asked again.

“What the fuck am I supposed to do until Monday?”

She tore her eyes away from him and looked at the bike. “I guess you can’t drive it, huh?”

“Not without causing more damage.” He turned away and began to push his motorcycle down the street.

“Hey, don’t you at least want my name or my insurance info?” she called after him.

He ignored her and kept going. He made it about half a block before the fog swallowed him up.

Penny resisted the urge to run after him again. He clearly didn’t want her help, and she needed to get those flowers to the church.

As she was walking back toward her van, she spotted something on the road and bent down to pick it up. A pocket watch. A nice one by the looks of it.

“Hey, you dropped your …”

She looked back to where he’d disappeared into the fog. He wasn’t going to get far. As soon as she delivered the flowers to the church, she’d track the mysterious stranger down and return it.

Another amazing read that is set in the small town that houses Sanctuary.

Tensions remain high in Sumneyville and Jaxson is in town asking questions that no one wants to answer. Penny is content with her life until Jaxson presents some possibilities she never considered.

We get to visit Sanctuary with mentions of Pine Ridge and our favorite guys.

‘Finding Home’ by Abbie Zanders is part of a multi-author series ‘The Long Road Home’ that follows several military men who are trying determine what comes after their service is over. For Jaxson and Penny, the road is long and they both struggle to overcome their personal challenges and fears. Jaxson has recently been medically separated from the Army due to a serious battle zone injury. He is scarred, limping and in pain – making him grumpy and short-tempered. Penny is upbeat, talkative and kind-hearted with a talent for creating beauty with flowers. The meeting between these two is basically the opposite of a ‘meet cute’ when she hits his motorcycle with her delivery van. The two at first don’t seem to be a good fit and Jaxson fights his attraction to Penny thinking that he can’t give her what she needs. Penny is more open to being with him but struggles with self-esteem issues to the point that she decides she is willing to take anything the Jaxson will give – even just for one night.
To make things more challenging, Jaxson is only in town to try to find out some things about his family and then he plans to leave. This story intertwines with Zanders’ ‘Sanctuary’ series and as she often does, characters from other series make large and small cameo appearances. As Jaxson works to unravel the mystery of his past, Penny tries to support him; even if her efforts don’t always go exactly as planned. When Jaxson finds a few possible answers, he leaves without telling Penny, but she is persistent and goes after him. After spending a week in his hometown, they return to hers where Jaxson finds the answers to all the questions about his past and he also finds the path to his future.
I am not sure how it will work in other books in this series, but I really like the idea that sometimes home isn’t a place, but a person or persons. Both Penny and Jaxson come to realize that where they are matters very little, but who they are with means everything. It is also heartwarming to read a story where the characters find that with the right person, limitations or personality quirks don’t matter and that one can find love not in spite of, but because of who they are.
I am a huge fan of Abbie Zanders’ books and this story left me wanting to read more in this series and even more anxious for the final installment of ‘Sanctuary’. I got this book as ARC in exchange for an honest review. I strongly recommend this book or really anything by this author.

I love this new series these five authors have penned. And being a fan of Abbie’s Sanctuary series I was excited to see how it would tie in. Jaxson is returning home from the military but to what he’s not sure. When he finds some letters referencing his family he sets off on a road trip to discover his roots. Penny’s the quintessential good girl. She made me smile with her sayings and all around sweetness unless of course you pi#s her off then she’s as fierce as a mama bear. Their love story is a slow and remarkable journey of discovery. Obviously as we know from previous sanctuary books the town doesn’t welcome strangers. As Jaxson tries to look for answers he’s not given the most pleasant welcome. Our esteemed Sanctuary guys are there as are a few old favourites. This was a delightful surprise in this amazing series. I can’t wait for the next book now. Awesome story.

A must read, especially for Sanctuary fans! Wow! Fantastic story and even though it is a standalone - you will get so much more out of this book, if you read the Sanctuary books first (this book is really intertwined with that series).

He's from a small town in Virgina and discovers that he may have roots in Sumneyville, PA. She was born and bred in Sumneyville and is fairly content with her life until one early morning flower delivery. If you have read Abbie's Sanctuary books, you know that it's a typical small town that does not readily accept outsiders and Jaxson's quest for answers is not a smooth road to travel.

Awesome story with a stalker, bad cops, family secrets, the Sanctuary/town feud, romance for two people not really looking for it, and ONE HECK OF A REVEAL! Special mention of Penny's colorful language - loved it! Special mention #2 - the plethora of cameos from Abbie's other series!

Even though I read lots of genres and really prefer sci-fi/fantasy and I read lots of books, this is the best book I have read in a while. The characters, the interactions, the relationships, all build one amazing story. I had to keep reading (even when I was supposed to be working) - the story is THAT good.

Once again - this is a standalone and can be enjoyed as one but having read the Sanctuary books, I feel I got so much more out of the story.

Don't hesitate - this book is definitely a one-click!

Excellent book!

This was the perfect addition to this series. It connects well to the other stories, but also brings in a few of the other series that Abbie Zanders has written.

I really enjoyed Jaxson and Penny's story. You could feel from the moment they first collided that something good was coming.

Finding home🏡

This is my first book by Abbie and I absolutely loved it🤩

Jaxson gets a medical discharge after he’s injured😢As he prepares to go home, he’s despondent as he is uncertain about his future and the direction he wants to go. When he returns home, he discovers his father left some letters after his passing. Jaxson decides to look into the letters further and finds himself in a small town and almost road-kill by their florist, Penny😳

Suffice to say both the small town and Penny change Jaxson in a way he never expected❣️A great story and have already purchased the first book in the Sanctuary series to read more about these characters😍

Oh! “Shasta daisies”!!
Wow, do I love this story and this series! Each book is a standalone, written by a different author with bit of a different voice. They are all connected by a theme of a military man leaving the service and discovering what home is or can be for them.

Jaxson is at loose ends but finds some letters in his late fathers belongings. He follows where they lead hoping to learn something about his unknown mother but ends up being bowled over by a sweet and unassuming florist.

“Penny had no illusions. Everyone had their part to play, and hers was the good girl next door. The one who tried to brighten other people’s days with a kind word or a cheerful smile, even when she could have used one herself.
Penny the Pest.”

Finding Home is a wonderful blend of mystery, suspense and swoony romance!

This is book 3 in The Long Road Home series but it is also connected to this author's Sanctuary series. So while it can be read as a standalone for The Long Road Home-I highly recommend reading the Sanctuary series before reading this one as those characters are seen in this book and previous events are mentioned as well. Jaxson Adams is forced to medically retire from the Army after being injured. He goes home but there isn't anything there for him anymore and he is not the same person he was before he went into the service. When he finds letters to his father, he decides to try to find out the truth. And that leads him to Sumneyville. Penny Hoffmeier bouquets for every occasion and gets to see romance at it's finest, even if it doesn't involve her. When a brooding, sexy stranger comes to town looking for answers, she knows she has to help him. Even if it takes her off the sidelines in the town drama and right into the thick of things.

I absolutely loved this installment! I have been sucked into the Sanctuary world since the first book and this one was no different! Penny is sweet with a slightly sassy side, but she has a heart of gold! Jaxson is moody and feels like he has no home any longer. It leaves him feeling off kilter and alone. These two couldn't be more different but it also makes them the perfect fit for each other. They bring something that neither knew they needed, until they spent time together. I loved that we got to see mentions of characters from other series but I also loved how this book handled the secrets it holds. It all came about in a way that I wasn't expecting but I truly loved. I can't wait to read the next Sanctuary book though-because I need to read Church's story!!!

Finding Home is the eagerly awaited contribution from the amazing Abbie Zanders to the fabulous The Long Road Home series and it is sooo good, a definite 5*!
Where is home? after his forced medical discharge from the army Jaxson Adams simply doesn't know any more, his time in the army and the injuries that forced him out have changed him forever and now his Dad is dead he isn't sure that the place he grew up is where he belongs. When he finds a series of love letters in his Dad's things he's determined to try and find out the truth about his family.
Arriving in Sumneyville in search of his past gruff loner Jaxson and romantic realist Penny Hoffmeier crash into each other’s lives. Jaxson needs answers, he doesn't want to feel the tug of attraction towards the gorgeous but infuriating florist. Penny is a shining ray of sunshine and is immediately drawn to the dark, grumpy and oh so sexy stranger and can't stay away. I loved Penny from her inventive vocabulary to her tenaciousness and courage in pursuing what she wants and enjoyed every step of her and Jaxson's relationship.
Part of the joy of this story is its crossover with Abbie's Sanctuary series which is a firm favourite, and the appearances from those wonderful characters, plus drop-ins from the Connelly and Callaghan clan - so much to enjoy.
Sumneyville reacts predictably towards a stranger in its midst, especially a military one so there is a good dose of suspense as the mystery of Jaxson's past is unravelled. Will he find the answers he craves and he finally found the home he longs for in Penny?
I enjoyed this superbly written story enormously and would recommend it to everyone, it is a standalone but if you read the first two 'Home' books and the Sanctuary series it will be even better.
I received an arc from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Another brilliant read from Abbie Zanders! Finding Home is a wonderful edition to The Long Road Home series of books, and Abbie seamlessly integrates beloved characters from her past books, while introducing us to her new hero, Jaxon Adams, and heroine, Penny Hoffmeier.

Jaxon, badly wounded during a military deployment, funds himself medically discharged, and just lost. In trying to decide what comes next, he embarks on a journey to find out about the mother he never knew, while mourning the father he loved. This journey, thanks to some old postmarked letters to his father, takes him to Sumneyville, PA, where his and Penny's worlds collide, quite literally. From their first encounter, Jaxon, despite how desperately he wants to forget about the overly cheerful, beautiful florist, he can't seem to erase Penny from his thoughts. She arouses in him long dormant feelings and desires, which were definitely not part of his plan, nor was the abuse he suffers at the hands of some of Sumneyville's residents who don't care much for outsiders, especially one perceived as being part of Sanctuary, a sojourn for military veterans reacclimating themselves into the civilian life.

This is a story filled with so many emotions: sadness, angst, frustration, intrigue, surprise, and love, and every moment draws you in, and Abbie really makes you feel like you are a part of the story. Like all of Abbie's other books that I have read (and I have read a LOT of them!), I highly recommend this read!

I received an advance copy of this book for my honest review. When I started the book, I was quite nervous. I didn't really like Jaxson and felt he treated Penny coldly and quite meanly. I shouldn't have doubted.

The story started a slowly for my taste, but once it picked up I thoroughly enjoyed it. Having read the Sanctuary series, it was bit redundant going through all the charaters and their partners, but understandable if you aren't familiar with it.

I found myself smiling quite a bit when characters from other series made a brief appearance throughout the book. I really like the nod to her Callaghan and Connelly series without them overwhelming the story.

Penny was the perfect amount of sweetness and sass. She is content in her life in small town America, until she meets Jaxson and realizes that her life can be so much more. She was very much in tune with Jaxson and when he needed space, she gave it to him without her feelings being hurt. She wasn't overly written one way or another, meaning, she wasn't so stubborn that she refused help at all costs, nor was she so saccharine sweet, she has a temper and wasn't afraid of showing it.

Jaxson took a little longer to get love, but I got there. It was so much fun watching him try to talk himself out of wanting Penny and falling for her anyways.

Overall, I was extremely happy with this story and highly recommend it.

Who needs to sleep when you have an Abbie Zanders book waiting.

I read this straight thru the first night and then had to go back and read it again.

There is a special place in my heart for veterans and Jaxson hit all the feels. I was really rooting for him from the time you first meet him in the airport ( I want Blessings job) and when you learn all that he has endured and what he will be going thru. When he gets home and there is nothing left for him and he starts his search for answers to questions he never knew he had. When he meets Penny, and her relentless need to help, I could just picture the look of discomfort/ disbelief on his face. As he finds his answers, it was really good to see old friends (to me) from previous books show up to help. All the folks from Sanctuary and of course the Callaghan Brother and Connely cousins.
The blurb for the books asks What do you do if you don't have a heart. Jaxson has a heart and with Penny's help, he finds it and so much more. With the twists and turns, I am looking forward to seeing him in other books.

Many times when you have different authors telling imterwoven stories things fall through the cracks but this seamlessly incorporated some of my favorite authors.

Thank you Abbie, this is one that I will read again and I will be going back to visit Sanctuary again.

I was really looking forward to reading this book. It’s not only the next book in the long road home series (which I’m loving) but it’s set in Sumneyville (Sanctuary Series-I’m really loving!) I always hope that my anticipation doesn’t exceed reality. I needn’t have worried it was phenomenal. I enjoy how each chapter is from each characters point of view. Penny shows the world this perpetual bright and smiling facade but we get to see her reality. Jaxson appears to be a tough guy and a loner but we get to see his internal struggles. This book is brilliant. My all time favourite scene is Penny meeting Cherise for the first time- hallarious. This book is a crossover for Abbie’s other series too. Callaghan’s and the Connelly’s feature too. All in all it’s a brilliant book and I can’t wait to read the next one. By next one I actually next few. Abbie’s Sanctuary finale and the next instalment in the Long Road home. I’ve got them both preordered.

This is the third book in The Long Road Home series by five different authors. You can read this as a stand-alone, but you will get more enjoyment out of also reading the fabulous Sanctuary series. Jaxson is at a crossroads in his life and he's looked through an old lock box of memories from his father. He travels to Sumneyville from Virginia, and runs into Penny! I absolutely love Penny as the heroine, she tough, feisty and goes after what she wants, and what she wants is Jaxson. She describes his as "storm clouds in black leather", she's totally cute when she says "shasta daisies!" too. She's tired of sitting on the sidelines and takes a chance on Jaxson, like he is the dessert that she always wanted but never got to eat. Jaxson was a strong alpha, but he's also quiet and doesn't say much, and some communication issues happen between them. Loved the Callaghan and Connelly connection and this was definitely a feel good book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a sweet read.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Penny and Jaxson have such a realistic dynamic, lost in life Jaxson doesn't know how to love or what to do, but fate has brought them together. Penny is smart, generous and funny, how is he going to resist her?
He tries not to because he's an alpha male with a capital A, (if you've read the sanctuary books you'll notice they may be similar, but not all, they all had different personalities, this is a big point in Abbie's book) but because he's so lost after all the events in his life and he just don’t know what to do with his own life, and of course it affects his love life.
Penny being open and talkative and annoying in a cute way, but with low self steem. Jaxson realized it and help her too.
I love the topic on mental health and wish had more chapters.
A generous heart can definitely win a grumpy mysterious man!
I love the likelihood Finding Home the twist and how the series are intertwined .
I definitely recommend this book 5 ⭐️!

Jaxson and Penny

Jaxson has been medically discharged from the Army. He goes back to his hometown and everyone has stayed the same. The problem is, he has changed and nobody understands. He is at loose ends, feeling like he no longer has a purpose. His dad is gone and when he goes through his dad's papers he finds some letters that have left him with more questions than answers. Determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, he heads to Pennsylvania on his motorcycle to hopefully solve the mystery. Enter Penny Hoffmeier. She is driving along, making a delivery for the wedding that is happening today. Out of nowhere, she sees a guy on a motorcycle and can't stop fast enough. Luckily, the man wasn't hurt. Trying to be nice and helpful, she offers to take Jaxson to the only motel in town and says she knows who can fix his bike and she will cover the cost. All she gets back is a few growled words and a boatload of attitude. Amazingly enough, she eventually gets to see the nicer side of Jaxson. The attraction they feel is undeniable. There's a lot of hurdles in the way of them getting together. Can they work through everything to get the HEA they deserve? Get this book ASAP and find out. Sorry, no spoilers. I received this ARC and here is my honest review.

Jaxson Adams has been medically discharged from the Army and is at odds as to what to do with his life. His plan had been to restore cars and motorcycles but with his father being dead that is no longer in the cards. Then he finds a possible clue to his mother and that takes him to Sumneyville, PA.

When he gets there, he is practically run over by a young florist named Penny. And like a bad penny, Penny keeps showing up in his life and awakens feelings that take him by surprise. Even though he tries hard to resist her cheerful personality, it becomes harder and harder the more he is around her.

There are many funny moments in this story, an appearance from characters from the Sanctuary and Callaghan series, the mystery of who Jaxson's mother was, a fun scene involving pig crap, and a love story. Who could ask for more? You do not need to have read the other series to read this book.

Fantastic read!

Jaxon is medically discharged from the army and decides to head home. The problem is that home no longer feels like home, especially after the death of his father. After finding some old letters in his father's belongings, he decides to try and find the author of the letters and learn more about his father's past.

When he arrives in town, he's hit by the florist, aka Penny. And I do mean literally hit! Penny feels so bad for the accident that she tries to smooth his time in Sumneyville (tries being the operative word here). When Jaxon meets the residents of Sanctuary, a new mystery arises. Can Jaxon figure out where he belongs - and who should be included in his life - all while finding home? Read and find out!

What a great story! If you haven't read the author's Sanctuary series, I highly recommend reading it to add to the experience. Jaxson is a veteran, who came home to realize absolutely nothing and everything has changed. When he finds letters that belonged to his father, he is questioning everything. Deciding to find out the truth, his journey takes him to Sumneyville where he literally runs into Penny. She and her family own the local flower shop. She is immediately smitten with him and decides to help him find the answers he is seeking. There are some jaw dropping twists and turns that are crazy! If you don’t have a few days free, I don’t know that it’s a good idea to start a Zanders book, because all it makes you do is binge read and crave going back to previous books to reacquaint yourself with previous characters. Finding Home is no different. Quiet, but strong Jaxson has returned home following an injury in the military, has a literal run in with Penny, while he’s in Sumneyville looking for answers about his family. While in Sumneyville it becomes apparent that not everyone is as welcoming as Penny. This story gave quick little update peaks of previous story characters, which was nice as you always want to know what everyone is up to. As well as leading us along for what I know is going to be an epic final story. Again, as in all books in this series and in the Cousins series (really any of Zanders books) the characters are realistic and people you’d just want to know in real life. 5 big stars.

Jaxson has had to take a medical discharge from the army before he was ready to leave, he is returning home but to what? His only relative, his father, dies whilst he was deployed. Once home he discovers a box of paper, old love letters from and Ilsa in Sumneyville. He decides to investigate wondering if she is his mother who he has never known.
After driving to Sumneyville on his father’s classic motorbike he is nearly knocked down by Penny the local florist. She takes him to breakfast and then keeps meeting him around town . She is definitely attracted to him and realises he looks like her friend Samantha who is married to Smoke from Sanctuary.
As Penny and Jaxson become more involved he also meets up with Samantha and looks to try and work out their mutual history.
This is part of the finding home series and involves literally finding a place to live and also finding an emotional home. It fits in well to the sanctuary series but it is not necessary to have read them . Another highly entertaining read from Abbie Zanders . I received this as an Arc in return for an honest review.

I'm the shy, introverted, socially awkward type so naturally, Abbie Zanders' FINDING HOME really intrigued me! Penny was a wonderful character....so tied to hometown, so kind and caring, and her "foul" language was hilarious. Jaxson was the broody, bad boy, just-separated-from-the-military hero that every woman can go for!

This third book in the Long Road Home series continues the excellent writing and story-telling of the first two books. It was a joy to return to the setting of Zanders' Sanctuary books, see the Sanctuary gang, and discover bombshell news within them. This book is not to be missed!

Holy cow Penny and Jaxson are like oil and water when they first met, except secretly lusting after each other knowing it won't work, two different people from two different worlds, him trying to figure out what secrets went to the grave with his dad, she knows how some can help him, moods softening between them, feelings present but afraid to show, one and done isn't going to be enough, only a lifetime will suffice, meeting old friends from sanctuary and Pine Ridge, Blessing knows more with her woo woo, 3rd in this series, AMAZING like the other 2, can't wait for more, I have voluntarily read and review this ARC, thank you for the privilege, Dana Zamora

Unexpected surprises are always the best…..
Jaxon has one that is sure to know your socks off! Well Penny’s socks for sure.

Jaxon Adams needs a new purpose after being medically discharged from the Army. He heads to his hometown to maybe start a new life. Then he finds some letters his father left behind. He suddenly finds himself in Sumneyville,
PA Where he literally runs into Penny Hoffmeier. The woman is infuriating, tenacious, and absolutely gorgeous. Jaxon came for answers. Not the woman that makes his heart beat a little faster. He doesn’t have time for a relationship with Penny. Besides she’s all sunshine and flowers and he’s a dark cloud looking for a place to call home. He just needs to stay away for her. But could Penny be his home?

Penny Hoffmeier loves her town and the people in it. Her life is pretty boring. Then she meets Jaxon and she can’t seem to stay away. He’s dark, sexy and makes her feels things she’s never felt before. Just one night no strings is what she keeps telling herself. Falling in love wasn’t the plan. And the town locals have lost enough of their women to Sanctuary military guys. They aren’t gonna let Penny go so easily.
Will Jaxon finds the answers he’s looking for?

Finding Home is the 3rd book in the Long Road Home series, and it is written in Abbie Zanders’s Sanctuary world. I love both of these series, and I couldn’t put it down. Abbie Zanders’s books are always wonderful, and her characters are delightful. Finding Home is the story of a wounded very finding his way after a medical discharge. He meets Penny in a very surprising way. She is a ray of sunshine into his life that he just can’t extinguish. He fights the attraction, but it is too strong to resist. The people of Sumneyville don’t make things easy, but good people and friends always help out. I had a smile on my face, and I hated for this story to end. I can’t wait for the next book in both series.

After starting this story, I quickly became invested in Jaxson and the journey he was on. What discoveries he would find and what connections out there he would uncover had me glued to each page. I loved Penny and her family. The growing relationship between Jaxson and Penny was fantastic. And of course the connection to the Sanctuary was all I needed to be completely sucked in and unable to walk away from reading until I reached the end. The pieces Jaxson was looking for slowly were found and he discovered so much more than he could have hoped for. This storyline intertwined so well with the Sanctuary peeps and made me even more excited to read the next book to come, if that was even possible!!

Finding something you didn't know was missing!

Jaxson is looking for answers but finds so much more, it leaves him reeling...but also makes him evaluate, reassess and rethink his future. Especially when he 'bumps' into Penny who is stubborn, brilliant, brave, clever, wonderful, kind, reckless, foolish, beautiful......perfect for him!
So glad another injured and disillusioned vet finds a future he is willing to fight for....a future he wants to live for.
Thus is a great multi author series with strong characters, who may have been knocked to their knees but they are far from out and they come back swinging!
