The writer's voice and creativity is absolutely amazing throughout the story - Amazon Review

Once upon a time there was a girl who grew up near an enchanted wood. She was the delight of her father. The most precious gem of his heart. And one evening in the spring, on her sixteenth birthday, she clutched her infant daughter to her chest and ran for her life.

A century later, a young girl named Maia found true love. Or at least she thought she had before her happily ever after turned into cries of, " Witch! Witch! Witch! " After an impulsive deal with a rumple goblin, Maia escapes the pitchforks and torches by taking her chances in the enchanted woods.

But there's a witch in the woods.

Cerelia hasn't seen another human soul for over one hundred years until a beaten and bloody pregnant girl stumbles into her magical garden. While fighting off witch-hunting villagers is one thing, dealing with rumple goblins is quite another.

What will be the cost of saving Maia's child?

Mother is the first book in the Witches of Grimm series. A gripping fairytale retelling of Rapunzel's Mother Gothel, Mother is a magical story of love and sacrifice.

Rumple goblins and evil lords

Maia thought she was in love. Until that love was betrayed. Desperate, she calls on a goblin for help and strikes a deal. Then she escapes to the enchanted forest where Cerelia has lived for the last 100yrs. Cerelia takes her in, defends her, and loves her like her own. They come up with a plan to save the baby from the goblins but goblin magic is ancient and there is no guarantee.

Cerelia is sweet and caring. Maia is brave and courageous. The two together is heartwarming. This was such a good book i couldnt put it down.

Book Title: Mother: A Mother Gothel Tale (Witches of Grimm Brook 1)

First off, I have always loved the darker side of “Brother’s Grimm” stories. So straight off the bat, regarding this being part of the “Grimm inspiration” world, for instance, know that this story is creative, dark sacrifices are made, at the edge of your seat, and also too enduring and complex characters. Without giving away any spoilers, at the very beginning of the story we get introduced to a character that is running in the woods holding her newborn baby. What shall happen next?

As the story unravels. Gargoyles, fairies, witches, and even a spider( that I actually liked! I want him to be my roommate. I don’t even like spiders!). The writer’s voice and creativity is absolutely amazing throughout the story. Yes, is it shorter (right around 160 pages) however this story DID NOT FEEL rushed. Everything was going in the right direction as the story unfolded. I look forward to this author’s future writings, as I will follow her in her writing adventures.

Mother is a deliciously dark and imaginative fairytale which hooked me from the start. Love, betrayal, tragedy, magic... this story had it all.

I empathised with the main characters, Maia and Cerelia, throughout the story and was moved by the pain and hardship they had suffered as a result of ignorance and fear. I was also fascinated by the various mythical creatures, each with their own personality.

This is storytelling at its best: both heart-breaking and horrifying, giving me an entirely memorable experience. Recommended to those who enjoy a powerful and beautifully written dark fantasy.
