While there is nothing particularly unusual or interesting about the lace in this book, (not even unusual uses: most are scarves or shawls) the items are very pretty and I can see myself making a lot of them. It looks like a good general lace book for someone new to lace knitting who might then branch off into something more interesting and elaborate.
Lavish Lace is an interesting exploration of color - particularly the effects of variegated yarns on lace knitting techniques. This would make an excellent source of inspiration for experienced knitters, but there isn't much instruction on the basics for the novice.
