"Family. Loyalty. Unconditional love.. I've never seen anything like it."
All it took was one bullet. One bullet put a dent in my plan to survive the vicious storm that is my father and flipped my entire world on its' axis. Dragged from the dumps of Sin City to the Palace of Westbrook, I find myself living in a strange new version of hell, surrounded by sexy bad boys, money and power. The Kingston brothers own this city and everyone in it. They seem to think they can rule me. Unfortunately for them, I don't follow rules. And my stepbrothers are about to find out just how far I'm willing to go to survive. He wants my body. He can take it. But he will never take my heart. Because you can't take what no longer exists.
This is a full length dark high school romance with themes some readers might find offensive. Contains graphic language, dark triggers, drugs, violence and sex. It is book 1 of 3 in the Kingston Brothers series but can be read as a complete standalone.
This had popped up on my newsfeed a time or two, so I thought why not, new to me author, and the blurb and cover sealed the deal, jumped in late last night and I'm hooked.
The heroine is feisty as fuck which I love, she's mouthy as hell, tough as nails, and does not back down..
These three hotter than sin brothers who rule and run this town which have more money than sense when it comes to trying to bring her to her knees are intrigued by her, she's a walking talking question mark, and she's got a mouth on her like a sailor, is a straight A student, and doesn't seem to give a shit what others think of her.
The push and pull His throat grabbing 🔥 These two were perfection
I really enjoyed this one, would’ve loved an epilogue included to see how they were years down the track.
Hold the phone! Stop what you are doing right this second! Yes you! Just stop looking at these reviews, hoping for spoilers. Go to Amazon and download this book. Just go!
This was hands down the best debut I have ever had the pleasure reading. I laughed, I cried, I got very angry( you know the part), and I cheered!
I am on the edge of my seat waiting for book 2!!!
5 stars no doubt!!!
Just go buy the dang book, you won't regret it. Promise!!!!
i thought this was super enjoyable, and as long as your ignore like 80% of the plot and just focus on the vibes, you'll have a pretty good time. i don't often read mf or dark romance anymore, but i had a good time with this couple.
This would have been 4 stars if it wasn't for the foursome. I could have done without it. I skipped over that part. She ends up with one, but he shares her with his younger brothers. I was not cool with that. Otherwise it was good. I'm not sure if I will read anything else by this author.
Ahhhh!! Kings of Westbrook High had everything I love in my Bullymance stories. OMG. I am obsessed. This story was dark and sexy and filled to the brim with mean boys that love to do dark and dirty things. I loveeeed Callie and Damon so so much!!
Callie was exactly the type of heroine that I love. Strong, assertive with a take no prisoners attitude. 5 stars! ~Ratula
This is one of the more idiotic books I've read lately. It's unrealistic, a lot of things don't add up and you can quickly lose a lot of brain cells. Disaster!
Excuse me BETHANY. It should be illegal to write that damn good straight off the bat. Are you aware you now have a new crazy fan girl? ITS ME. Im dying to see what else you write because you are amazing girl! I instantly got sucked into the characters and story line, and there was never a single dull point in this book! The Kingston brothers are my new obsession and I cant wait for Wren!
If you want to read Reckless (m/m), you absolutely have to read this book first.
I'm giving it 3⭐ for Damon Kingston alone.
I was really looking forward to reading Reckless, because I read m/m books, but reading the first page I immediately realised I have to have foundation and yes, you absolutely have to read this one first to get the feel of who the Kingston brothers are, their dynamic, and most of all, their relationship with Callie, their newfound step-sister and now Damon's wife.
I have to be honest, I was thrilled about this series, but now after reading this book - not so much. It's a fast paced book with an insteresting plot, provoking characters and their dynamic is what I'd call weirdly attractive, so much so that by the end of the book you'll probably hate one or more of them.
The story is about the 3 Kingston brothers - Damon, Kai and Wren, who live with their father, Elijah, and their stepmom Katherine, in a penthouse apartment in their family hotel. They're a filthy rich family and these guys have the whole town and the school they're in, under total control.
I liked their characters, they were 3 troubled, emotionally damaged boys and I thought that was really well depicted. They were daring, ruthless and commanding, but at the same time they loved each other fiercly and would do anything for one another.
When Katherine brings home her daughter Callie, the one she abandoned at birth, things get very interesting. These brothers put her through a lot of hard time and in the end she finally has a real, newfound family with these guys.
Things that irked me, more or less;
🔵 They are all 17. This didn't sound like a book about 17 year olds, more like people who are finishing college. I get that money gets you everywhere and daddy's money does a lot for Damon, Kai and Wren, but this resembles more like a mafia to me, these guys know and abuse a lot of power for guys not even finishing high school yet.
🟣 For Damon being so possessive with Calliemine mine mine, it sure is interesting that he decides to share her in a foursome with his brothers, and this after the fact that they've established they're crazy about each other. That was weird, right?Possessive characters usually don't share.
🟢 The sex scenes weren't that developed. They were there and it was hot, but there was definitely more that could be done, especially if I compare it to Dirty Love, which was my first book read by this author and one I absolutely loved.
When skimming through a few pages of Reckless I realised that we're not getting rid of Callie and the brothers' dynamic so soon, these guys are very handsy with the girls and boys they bring home, and yeah, it's fine when it's this book, I usually don't read m/f, so I don't really care, but when I see that it's also in Wren's book, well, now I'm conflicted and I don't know if I want to read it at all.
This book was enjoyable enough that it pulled me out my little reading slump, the blurb had me intrigued, I was excited to find a new to me author. However my issue with this book was I couldn't stop comparing it to Boys of Brayshaw, it wasn't the plot I was comparing but the characters. I didn't feel a major connection with Damon but I did with Wren and Kai his twin brothers, I'm definitely going to be reading their books when they are released
Edited* After rereading this is now a solid 4 star read. I forgot how much I actually loved Callie and Damon, not sure what I was talking about in my previous review but I 100% felt the connection between both characters. I absolutely still love the twins Wren and Kai and the bond that they were developing with Callie. I’m excited to finally read book 2 and fall in love with Wren and Levi 😍
Intriguing story line, and had more spice than I had anticipated! There were just a few things that were hard for me to wrap my head around and the writing style wasnt to my particular taste. 3.5 ⭐
A very entertaining, fun, easy to follow, high school bully trope—where the Kingston brothers run the school and everyone in it, enjoyable read. I really liked the plot, the characters, the spice❤️🔥🥵, the drama, and I never felt bored or disinterested once!
Callie is such a bad bitch and strong FMC who has overcome horrific experiences, didn’t put up or take anybody’s BS, and never let anything or anyone break her…she was giving BDE to the highest degree and Damon who is her perfect match in every way is such an OTT, alphahole, possessive, and obsessed man for her, we just love to see it every time. 🫡🤭
Damon’s brothers, twins Wren and Kai were also a great time, so funny, but had depth too, and I loved their personalities. I can’t wait to read Wren’s story next.
This book definitely gets dark so be mindful of TW.
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars! Bully/stepbrother romance. Omg, this book was so hot, it mash up of those hot stepbrother books and the kick ass no fucks to give bad ass chick and bully romance. I loved how strong the heroine was. She was a sexy bad ass, and the hero was just gorgeous. Loved the chemistry, this was addictive read.
05/21/24 re-read. Rereading in prep for Kai's book! Enjoyed going back to this crew and Daddy Kingston!!!!!
08/22/21 Original review I really enjoyed this authors "Little Devil" book so I jumped into this one, hoping to find an easy, entertaining and hot as fuck book and she did not fucking disappoint!!!
Damon, is fucking drool worthy. Like batten down the hatches and get some extra batteries with his rough ways and commanding persona. Goddamn, I wanted to fuck him, three ways from Sunday! He's a great MMC who knows how to dick good! Callie is the definition of insane! She takes no shit from anyone and has gone through hell and back to get her to where she is. You see it in the very first fucking page of the book, she's a fucking badass.
I'm obsessed with Damon's twin brothers and I see there's a book for Wren and fuck me if I'm not going to jump into that book next!
It had some good villains, though, the shit they got away with, was purely fantastical but it kinda worked here cuz you were enjoying the story too much to make a list of book sins. You have the main female villain who's soul totally fucking smells like a bucket of old menstrual covered shit water and her sidekick who has the distinct scent of forever alone. They were perfect for eachother!
It DEFINITELY had a lot of similarities to a few other, I guess, you'd call them HS Bully books, but still found a way to make it it's own. Well, slightly. I still enjoyed it, though. Ok, now for some Wren! Fuuuuuuck
This book was incredible!!! I love an amazing bully romance. A book where the male main character goes right for the female main character but the female character, isn’t afraid to give it right back to him. And let me tell you, that was this fully! It is so entertaining. Their back and forth, not only is it wicked hot, it grabbed my attention right away and I couldn’t put the book down.
I fell hard for Damon. But let me tell you, I fell hard for Callie too! Not sure which one I like more. No two people are better suited for one another than Damon and Callie. They were fun to read! Throw in two hot, incredible brothers on top of Damon, Kai and Wren and ohhh, what a book!
So much happened in this story, but it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Callie is brought to live with her new Step Brothers, The Kingston boys! Why, she doesn’t know. And what these boys say goes! But what they don’t know is, Callie doesn’t take orders from anyone. She has been pushed around her entire life and she is done with it. Will these boys destroy her? Or will she break their cold dark hearts?
This is a must devour story. If you love #bullyromance, than this book is for you! I haven’t read this author before, but I definitely need to read other books in this series and anything else this author has written! She definitely will be on my radar now as an instant one-click author!
I really enjoyed this book! It was a great read with the right amount of angst, crazy, romance and steamy parts! It was also a refreshing storyline and had a sweet twist to it.
I do have a few complaints though, which keeps it from being a 5 star read. First...there were SOOO many typos. I understand a few here and there, but the missing and duplicate words, along with the wrong word placements bugged me. There were just so many, and I found myself having to re-read sentences a few times to try and understand what was trying to be said. Secondly, the overuse of the same word or phrase over and over! There was too much repetition with “necking a bottle” and “rolling my lips.” That may not bug some people, but I prefer when authors use different words or synonyms instead of repeating themselves over and over. These annoyances were unfortunate because it really was a fun page-turner!
Overall it was definitely a good story, and I will be on the lookout for Wren’s book! Here’s hoping the author makes a couple changes with the writing though!
You don’t read many books where the FMC starts off strong and can hold her on and stays that way throughout the book! She does not take crap from anyone and I love her big attitude and her sassy mouth! She’s had to grow up in a place where she learned that she could not trust anyone but herself and her walls are so high and made of concrete. She gets pushed into a new life she doesn’t want where she is now living with her mother and 3 step brothers who at first do not want her there. They all have their own demons inside. Damon, Wren, and Kai. But when the barriers slowly slip Damon starts to see her and no matter how much Callie tries she cannot hide from him. At the same time she starts seeing all the pain in each of the guys on the inside. While she is trying to figure why she was brought there and all four of them working together for the same thing they start to bring the pieces together. And made everyone pay for their part in hurting them. At the same time becoming one family. I was laughing a lot because this group had some crazy dialogue not to! I can’t wait for Wren’s story next!
This book was incredible, in-creeee-di-ble. My first by the author and m grateful to have found her. I love a good, strong, kick-ass heroine - no matter how dickmatized she gets, she still kicks life's and everyone's ass. Loved the chemistry between the h&h, I loved the twins too. I felt like I was in the middle of it all, seeing it unfold all before my eyes which is the best feeling ever, like ever!
Other than the fact that i can't stand h like her, we have this damn H sharing her with his twin brothers. F''k no, sharing it's not caring . A possessive man can't and wont share his girl EVER.
Kings of Westbrook High by Bethany Winters is a dark high school romance. This is the first book in The Kingston Brothers series.
The book does come with a caution/warning "This is a full length, dark high school romance with themes some readers might find offensive."
This is the first book of Bethany's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next.
I absolutely loved Callie's character! She is strong but broken. I loved watching her become stronger throughout the book with the support of her new stepbrothers Damon, Wren, and Kai.
The chemistry between Damon and Callie was off the charts! I really enjoyed getting both Damon and Callie's points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
I can't wait to dive into the next book in the series Reckless at Westbrook High so I can get Wren and Levi's story.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves dark romances, bully romances, enemies-to-lovers romance, or romantic suspense.
Damon, Wren and Kai... man alive are these boys 🔥. Callie is mouthy, tough and doesn't take shit from anyone. Callie has had a crap life, her mother abandoned her at birth and left her with her low life father. Her father dies and she is sent to live with her worthless mother, her husband and his 3 sons. The sparks fly between Callie and her "stepbrothers", and the turns this plot takes were fantastic. Callie went through literal hell with her father and has came out an incredible woman. This book is not a reverse harem but let me tell you though the scene where Damon shares her with his brothers 🥵, will live rent free in my head for life.. I cannot wait to read Wren's book.
Where has this book been hiding? I read a lot. And by a lot I mean I can read 3-4 books a day so needless to say I’ve pretty much lost faith in finding anything good anymore that even attempts to hold my attention to the point I want to finish it. Now normally I prob wouldn’t give this book 4 stars but after reading so many 1 and 2 star books in the recent 6 months this book actually held my attention and made me block out the outside world are read until it was over. There were a few spots where the story could use some work but the bones of it were right on. I love a good bully romance and this had all the goods. Except the ending a little too over the top there with that one. Also I almost didn’t even open the book seeing as there was a 4 way. But luckily I seen that it wasn’t an RH so I gave it a chance. Because for me RH are a hard no. And the blurb wasn’t very clear that it wasn’t so again I almost didn’t bother but I’m glad I did.
I absolutely 100% enjoyed this book. Callie is so strong and fierce and she won't let anyone tell her what to do. She is thrown into a world she doesn't want to be in but she won't let them buy her or own her. Damon tries to get her to fall in line but that is just not going to happen no matter what. I loved the throat grabbing passion of this story so much. I loved the mystery and the suspense and how it all worked out in the end. I absolutely can't wait for more Kingston brothers stories as this family is amazing and I need more.
