Mister loves this series, and personally, I can really identify with Grumpy Monkey sometimes more than I should. A great continuation of the series for beginning independent readers.
Jim Panzee the chimpanzee is finding himself easily grumpy, even at New Years! Miss 7 enjoyed reading and we're going to check out the graphic novel that he features in.
Miss 7 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.
I read this book to Julianna for 2nd time. She gives it 5 stars. She says she liked it because he was grumpy and then got happy. And then the bird woke him up early and he got grumpy again. And reminded monkey about him being his new you. I liked that ending Gorilla accepted Monkey the way he is.

A hilarious story about a grumpy monkey named Jim who wants to get all of his grumpiness out before the new year begins. His friends help irritate him so he will be unusually grumpy. Nice twist at the end. Highly recommended for Grades K-3.
Jim gets rid of all his grumps on New Year’s Eve! He celebrates at midnight with his friends. But then, stupid oxpecker wakes him up at the butt-crack of dawn on New Year’s Day & Jim gets mad at her! I don’t blame him—I don’t want to be woken up early for NO REASON, either!!

Fans of the picture books will like this silly early-reader series. I liked the premise of this one and laughed throughout, but was disappointed by the ending.
Jim decides to get all his grumps out before the new year. Everyone does their best to annoy him to help him get his grumps out. I could have done without the potty humor.
