It's hard to tell such a dense story in such a compact way, but I think this book accomplished it fairly well. It struggled in some places, but it eventually got the message across that you don't need a special gift or talent in order to be loved. And sometimes, trauma can make us forget what's truly important. I think this is a story that will age well, too, because the themes in it are fairly timeless.

Text-to-Self Connection

This week I decided to read this book. It reminded me of my daughter because Encanto is one of her favorite movies. Her favorite character being Isabella. I decided to read this book to see if it would be similar to the movie. There movie was of course longer but the book was well summarized. The book also does a great job of going over the importance of family and family traditions. Family traditions are very much important for my family. Family will have ups and downs but at the end of the day family is important and should go first.

Amazing Tone in Encanto (2021)
Disney’s Encanto reveals how tone plays an important role in delivering emotional meaning and family values within an animated film. One of the most remarkable aspects of the film is how it presents serious issues such as pressure, identity, and family conflict through a warm and uplifting tone. Rather than focusing on darkness or tragedy, the film uses music, character development, and cultural elements to create an emotionally engaging experience. According to Disney (2021), Encanto emphasizes self-acceptance and family unity, which strongly influence its overall tone. Through visual beauty and emotional storytelling, the film invites audiences to reflect while still feeling comforted. Therefore, this essay argues that the amazing tone in Encanto is created through three main elements: the use of music, the development of Mirabel’s character, and the portrayal of family values.

We appreciate the use of music as a key element in creating the amazing tone of Encanto. The songs in the film express emotional struggles in a joyful and engaging way. For example, “Surface Pressure” presents feelings of responsibility and stress without making the tone depressing. Instead, the song remains energetic and relatable to the audience. Thomas (2022) states that music in animated films helps shape emotional tone and deepen storytelling. Through its musical choices, Encanto maintains an uplifting atmosphere while addressing serious emotional themes.

We admire the development of Mirabel’s character, which strongly supports the amazing tone of the film. Mirabel is portrayed as a character without magical powers, yet she becomes the emotional center of the story. Her struggles are shown with warmth and hope rather than negativity. Hutcheon (2013) explains that emotionally vulnerable characters often create strong connections with audiences. Through Mirabel, the film delivers an encouraging message that imperfection is valuable. This character portrayal strengthens the inspiring tone of Encanto.

We recognize the portrayal of family values as an important contributor to the film’s amazing tone. The Madrigal family experiences conflict, pressure, and misunderstanding throughout the story. However, these conflicts are resolved through empathy and communication rather than anger. Disney (2021) emphasizes that healing and family unity are central themes of the film. This focus allows the tone to remain warm and comforting despite emotional tension. As a result, Encanto presents family conflict in a hopeful and emotionally positive way.

In conclusion, this essay argues that the amazing tone in Encanto is effectively created through music, character development, and family values. These elements work together to present serious emotional issues in a warm and uplifting manner. The film shows that emotional struggles do not always need to be portrayed through darkness. Personally, I believe Encanto is meaningful because it reflects real family experiences while still offering comfort and hope. The film encourages audiences to value emotional understanding and self-acceptance. Therefore, Encanto remains impactful not only as entertainment but also as an emotionally rich literary work.

Having watched and discussed the movie that this story was based upon more times than I would have liked, I can't say I loved this adaptation. It felt a little too distorted in some key aspects of the plot, particularly near the middle. It's a bit off in the chronology. I've read this with my son a number of times anyway, and he likes it well enough, but it just eats at me the whole time.

This is the Little Golden Book version of the Disney Film Encanto. It tells the story of a magical place and family. The youngest member Mirabel who doesn't seem to have a special power, sets on a journey to help her family save their house Casita when strange things start happening. In the end they discover the power of family love.

Another favorite of my daughter's. There's something missing about how this story is told in this format. I feel like the heart of the story isn't quite fully formed, even though I read this to my daughter on a daily basis. I wish more of her adventure was seen.

This was a cute book about the Disney movie Encanto. The main message is about how everyone fits in somewhere somehow, even if they may not seem like the perfect person, they each have their own roles to fit in.

I read this to my granddaughters. They love this and the movie. My youngest was telling me that she wore costume of Mirabel last year for Halloween.

I read this again to my youngest granddaughter as we were at the house by ourselves. My daughter was at her niece’s practice. My son and his wife were at a parent/teacher meeting.
