This expanded third edition of The New Teacher Book grew out of Rethinking Schools workshops with early career teachers. It offers practical guidance on how to flourish in schools and classrooms and connect in meaningful ways with students and families from all cultures and backgrounds.
3.5/5 A fine book, but most of the essays spoke to teaching either little kids, or teaching humanities. There was some hs science/math content, but a lot of what I read wasn’t really applicable for me. Which is a major frustration of mine in teaching pd!!! No one wants to talk about teaching science >:(
I am so grateful this book exists! It’s like a warm hug and like a coconspirator at the same time. I will return to this over and over. I loved the section on teacher’s unions.
