Born and brought up in Varanasi and North Bengal, India, Sonali Chakraborty is a bilingual poet, trans creator of world literature, essayist, literary critic and blogger. She has been the editor of the first blog gene of Bengali poetry, 'Baak', since April, 2016. Her debut book (a collection of poetry) "Jamar Niche Olik Manush" came in the year 2017 followed by the second "Padmobyuhe Nim Onnopurna" in 2019 and the third "Momisrote Behayasinth" in 2021. Apart from that, she has edited two collections comprising works of eminent poets of India and Bangladesh namely "Shotchokro" and "Songkolito Baak" both of which were published in the year 2019. Her translations had read in SAARC twice and published in many international portals like "The Daily Star", "Angshumali", "Nilgiri Wagon" etc. As a representative of ABP, her information oriented essays have published on seven districts of West Bengal. She is the person whom Manindra Gupta and Samir Roychowdhury gave their last interviews. Before arriving in the arena of literature through "Prothom Alo" in 2016, she was a national performer in Indian Classical Dance.
Sonali believes no fine line should exist between life and works of a creative personality therefore her writings tell of her desire to explore the vast horizon of nature and human psyche as well as the infusion of them. She is a wide traveller of desolate destinations and in her opinion, Solitude has nothing to do with melancholy. As a student of Latin American literature academically, her language often seems too stubborn. Myths and allusions are integral part of it also. Among a huge variety of favorite living writers, she likes Salman Rushdie and Haruki Murakami most.
