Los Angeles lies in ruins as Rico braves the treacherous terrain of a state gripped by madness. Meanwhile, his wife and child try to keep the homestead running in the horrific aftermath of the attempted assassination in Aftershocks Book 2.
A desperate deal. A catastrophic disaster. A father who will stop at nothing to return home.
Far from home, a father makes a secret deal with the devil to secure his family’s future.
Alone on their rural homestead, his wife and child continue to eke out a quiet living, quietly counting the days until he returns.
When the mother of all earthquakes rips North and South America apart, the family’s survival skills will be tested more than they ever realize as they fight to survive - and reunite - in the face of overwhelming odds.
Wow. An absolutely suspenseful story. Agent Barrett is on a dangerous mission, will his family be safe. I couldn’t stop reading until I got to the end. Ready for more.
I've been through a few big quakes and I can tell you there is nothing quite as scary. Your blood pressure jumps and your heart is pounding. You don't know if it will continue to grow or taper back off. The depictions in this book are pretty good. Society seems to break down immediately. These different stories tell a very good take of the choices people make. Can't wait for the next one!!
This book was a bit slower than its predecessor as most of the groups of characters are maneuvering to get somewhere. The storyline of Barnett and Rico is taking on the spirit of Javert vs Jean Valjean. Not sure why Barnett's fellow officers are going alone with his obsessive focus on Rico when there are clearly other things going on with the earthquakes.
I grew up in LA and the fear of earthquakes was just part of life. The first episode is spot on with both the physical effects of huge earthquakes as well as the emotional scars it leaves. The variety of characters is excellent and the ongoing struggles transport me to this devistated place and time. Well done. Now on to the next episode.
Rico, Escaping from earthquakes in LA, DEA on his tail. Rodrego escaping Tsunamies in Texas. Both heading for Mexico. And Mia trying to maintain hers and Max’s privacy at home,
Thousands our characters facing many problems and their handing of them keeps us reading and unable to put these book down. Looking forward to book three.
Good book. The story revolves around the characters who are now set on their journey to wherever they are going. There are a few hold your breath circumstances but it's mainly a bit calmer.
Rico Taverna, ex-cartel 'fixer' heads for a rendezvous in L.A, with DEA Agent Barnett. His wife Mia and son Max stay behind, in the family's remote cabin in Northern Mexico. What danger does Mia encounter? Who is Candy? Will events affect Rico's decision about continuing?
Devastating earthquakes have occurred along the Gulf of Mexico, spreading upwards along the West Coast of the States, when a further chain of aftershocks threatens to overwhelm low-lying areas, coastal towns and cities. Who accompanies the fleeing Rico? What changes their relationship?
Who's the unconscious woman on the mountainside? How is she rescued? Can Rico and Tara escape their pursuers?
Get your copy of Shaken, by the dream team of Justin Bell and Mike Kraus (Book 2 in their great Aftershocks series), to find out what happens to Rico, Tara, Mia, Max and Candy, plus the back stories of new characters Gillian, Ricardo, Maurice and Jayne. Why have these survivors ended up in their current circumstances, whether escaped prisoners or suspects, mothers, neighbours or refugees, protagonists trying to do the right things - or antagonists determined to have the upper hand - at any cost!
The second book of the "Aftershocks" series. Full of adventure and intrigue as you follow the people after a series of bad earthquakes and the resulting tsunami's and aftershocks.
