I am a shameless romance addict with no intentions of ever kicking the habit. Growing up I dreamed of entertaining people and taking them on fantastical journeys with my acting abilities, until I came to the realization as a college sophomore that I had none to speak of. Another ten years would pass before I discovered a different means to accomplishing the same dream: writing stories of love and passion for addicts just like me.I have always loved romance stories and I try to tie all the elements I like about them into my writing.
good characters & story. slow developing romance. easy read.
I didn't read the first book in the series but I wasn't lost b/c I hadn't done that. The writer did a good job of summing things up succinctly for those who were unfamiliar w/the community of Daisy Creek. You get the sense that yeah..there was another book which makes you want to read it when you're done. I liked the pastor being a beekeeper as well. I don't know much about that so it was interesting to learn. But the whole time, I kept thinking, he's getting the honey w/out the modern beekeepers outfit which offers all encompassing protection. Amazing! Sweet HEA!
☄️☄️ONE FABULOUS ADVENTURE☄️☄️ Busting bronc's boo! The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels as though you're part of the story instead of on the sidelines, feeling everything the characters feel. Remarkable job Amelia, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.
This was an interesting mail-order story. Mary Marsh lost her father and her mother, she took a back breaking job doing laundry. Mary found Jessie Jarvis through a a mail-order agency. Several months of letter flying back and forth she decided to surprised Jessie by travelling by train for several days to Daisy Creek. When arriving she found out Jessie had just been killed. Heart broken Mary was invited to stay with Bill and Jill, a nice family in the small town until she decided what she wanted to do. Mary met John McBee the Pastor they enjoyed each other's company.
This was an interesting and entertaining book. The story is very detailed with each adventure telling about Pastor John keeping bees, Mary making candle and helping people in their community. I especially enjoyed the Lakota Indians Village and how they lived in the 1800's. (I get monthly letter from the Lakota Indian Schools today) so this was a surprise and extremely interesting to me.
I was amazed at the detail in the characters, their families, their homes and lives. The author, Amelia Rose stayed true to the era, with the clothes, events and characters. The way the town people lived and entertained and interactive with the Indians. This book was well written I would recommend this book to teens and everyone regardless of age. Be sure to read the characters list in the back of book this is very helpful.
I received this ebook ARC from the author, on the condition that I write an honest review. Mary’s had a rough life after the death of her parents. She begins to write to a young man, that is looking for a mail-order bride. She arrives in Daisy Creek to find that her betrothed has been killed, when he defended the robbery of the town store. She finds herself homeless and with no betrothed. Local Pastor John helps her, by arranging for her to stay with the Paulson family. Since Jill Paulson has just had a baby, and is raising the two children of her husband Bill, the help of Mary is helpful. Mary adjusts to life with the Paulson, and is as helpful as she can be. John continues to visit her frequently, and he begins to develop feelings for her. Several events occur within this book, like an attack on Mary during a horse race, high fevers when Mary gets caught in a heavy storm, meeting members of the Lakota tribe, and eventually falling in love. Eventually both John and Mary reach their HEA with a lovely epilogue. This is a beautiful clean romance. I’ve read several books written by Amelia Rose and highly recommend .
Mary lived with her mother and worked to support them. When her mother died, and with no prospects for marriage locally, she decided to go west as a mail order bride. She went by train and met another mail order bride who was going to California. They enjoyed traveling together. They agreed to correspond with one another when Mary reached her destination.
Mary nervously arrived in town and went into the general store to await her husband to be. She learned that there had been a shooting just before and her fiance was dead. Mary was embraced by the townsfolk and given a place to stay and recuperate from her loss. There were bachelors in town who were looking for brides and Mary began getting attention from them. Read this book to find out which bachelor she chose.

Book Two of the series, this one begins with Mary, a young woman who lost her father 2 years ago and whose mother is in failing health. She’s working in the laundry and is struggling to eke out their basic needs. She answers a mail-order bride ad from Jesse. They develop a good relationship through subsequent letters. When her mother dies, Mary decides to leave Ohio for Daisy Creek, Nebraska. Sadly, Jesse is killed trying to stop an armed robbery. So when Mary arrives she’s met with more tragic news. The couple from book one take her in and help her. The pastor visits to make her feel welcome and they become friends. I like that they didn’t rush into a romantic relationship but allowed it to unfold. It’s also a glimpse into the life of the previous couple. It’s a sweet read with a happy ending. The Audible narrator is good as always.
John and Mary's Story! This is a very pleasant and sweet Mail Order Bride story with Mary traveling to meet her intended but unfortunately he was killed in a robbery while she was on her journey. The story is about how she and the Pastor, John, meet, fall in love and eventually get married. They are two really nice characters and are surrounded in a town of helpful and caring people. They also make friends with the Lakota Indians living near the town and trade with them. The story reads easily and well and I enjoyed it very much. My voluntary review of an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of the book is recorded above.
This is a sweet mail order bride story written by Amelia Rose. Mary is on her way to be mail order bride only to discover that her intended has been killed. She is welcomed and agrees to stay with the Paulson family. Saddened and filled of grief and worry she feels touched by Pastor Johns friendly and warm feelings. They harvest honey, attend a Lakota ceremony and attend the towns horse race where Mary is accosted by three drunken cowboys. John saves her and is beaten up while protecting her. You will enjoy discovering how Pastor John and Mary find their happily ever after.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from Audiobooks Unleashed in exchange for an honest review. Book 2 in the Daisy Creek Brides Series was an enjoyable experience. Mary answered the ad and exchanged letters with Jesse until her mother passed. She made the decision to travel to Nebraska to meet him. She establishes life long friendships along the way that help her through tough times. The story was believable and the warmth of the community showed through. The narration was good. I've read several books by this author and find them interesting and heartfelt.
Amelia Rose has done a spectacular job with this story. The first part of the story sure didn’t work out like I thought it would, it was so unexpected. The characters were very heartwarming and likable, pastor John was such an upbeat and caring man with patience too. Mary had grief that needed to be addressed. It was also nice to have characters from previous books involved, felt like being with old friends. (Can be read as a stand-alone)
A clean and enjoyable read. It's about a mail-order bride , Mary Marsh, who comes to Nebraska after loosing her parents. She answers an ad from Jessie Jarvis who decided to settle down in Daisy Creek. She left on the train to meet him and he was shot before she arrived. She meets the Paulson family who takes her in. Pastor John McBee comes to visit and brings bread and honey. This is sweet story and I was given a ARC of this book.I highly recommend reading.
This book surely had me emotional. I cried like a baby and was happy as a lark. The story is well written. The characters are very endearing and you feel everything they are going through. Love this new series and this being the second book, I can't wait to see what is in the future of Daisy Creek! I received this book as an ARC member and this is my honest review.
This is the second book in the Daisy Creek Brides, a mail-order Romance. Pastor John and Mary’s story is a sweet and clean beautifully written historical romance. The characters are well developed and interesting. The storyline has drama, twists and turns, and romance. I loved this heartwarming story. Gina Dobbs did a great job with the narration. She has a beautiful voice.
Another great mail order bride book from Amelia Rose. This one was so good I couldn’t put it down until I was done.It had a different story that was easy to follow snd it made you want to just keep reading hoping things would happen. It also involved the local Lakota Indians who were friendly for the most part.An excellent book.
I love Amelia Rose as an author her books are historically accurate. When reading you become transported the the west in the 1800’s. Each in the series introduces you to the town and the people that live there. Mary and Johns story has an unexpected start you can see they were made for each other.
Having done over 25 books from this narrator, Gina Dobbs, she is consistently very good. I may be shallow, but if a narrator mispronounces a few words or repeats a sentence, it disrupts my listening pleasure. Dobbs uses a variety of breath placements, so you do not get that annoying sing-songy pattern.
This was a n interesting story. Mary had stayed with her mother , who was dying. She soon died and Mary was left alone. Her only home was to become a mail order bride. Soon she met-and wrote to Jessie in Daisy Creek. Days before she arrived , he was shot by a robber of the local grocery.
We’ll definitely get this one. She lost her family, then she’s happy about starting over in Daisy Creek with a man whom she has growing feelings for. He is a wonderful person helping everyone in need. Only he looses his life. She arrives days after his death.
She talks to the pastor and he is kind. They keep talking to each other, and something wonderful happens.
What a sweet story! Mary’s story starts so sad and unfortunate. Feeling alone and traveling to a new city to marry. When tragedy strikes again she begins to wonder if happiness will ever be in her grasp. Daisy Creek is full of wonderful characters with side stories of their own to keep you interested till the wonderfully sweet and hopeful ending.
This is the second book I've read. I received 3 of them for free. These are wonderful easy reading stories. They are full of so much beauty. There is tragedy too, sadness, worry and death. These are stories of life. The kindness, the families, the community, the warmth, I feel good just reading them. I want to live in Daisy Creek and know all these kind people.
I know when I pick up an Amelia Rose book that I am going to get an interesting storyline, well-developed characters, humor and in this case a visit with the residents of Daisy Creek. I have enjoyed this series and look forward to more.
But this book got off to good start (like the first one did) and held my interest a little more than halfway through and then it dragged on and on like the first book did. I doubt I will read any more by this author.
I Loved this book, Unexpected Mail Order Bride for the Pastor By Amelia Rose 🌹 .I wouldn't change anything about this book . I recommend Teens and up .
This was a good story and I would recommend it to those from teenaged to older adult. I was glad it had a happy ending and even Christopher ended up happy for the couple.
I listened to this great book by Amelia Rose. This was a great storyline and I fell in love with the characters. It is a great continuation of this series, however, you can read it as a stand-alone and not be lost.
Definitely some sappy and predictable scenes, but others are unique and thoughtful! I love their beekeeping dates and their relationship with many of the Lakota tribe. Maybe I'm getting used to the narrator, but besides being a bit too slow in her rhythm, it was good.
Losing her family leaves Mary with a broken heart but losing the man she was corresponding with is the last blow. Time and patience brings new love in this sweet story.
