No more secrets. No more lies.

For the past eight years, Tevek has searched for his missing mother and sister. But as a top technological mind of Guldar, he is closely watched. And as one of the secret leaders of the rebellion, he must tread carefully. When the Emperor sends him on an urgent mission that will allow him to reunite with his family, the last thing he expects is to cross paths again with the breathtaking Veredian weapons expert that had captured his heart the very first time he saw her.

Ashara cannot believe the Goddess’ twisted sense of humor. Her entire life, she has waited to meet her soulmate, and he’s not only a freaking Guldan but also the son of one of the cruelest slavers to have oppressed her people. And yet, he’s everything she could want: smart, strong, heroic, drop-dead gorgeous, and completely crazy about her. However, his bloodline soon becomes the least of their concerns as countless assassins escalate their efforts to eliminate Tevek and thwart the prophecy surrounding him.

As every dark secret is revealed, families and friendships tested, and alliances reshaped, will Ashara be forced to choose between her mate and her people in this final showdown to defy Fate?

Now what in the fuck am I gonna read.

What the hell....I need a spin-off!!!!!! There are too many unanswered questions/situations. Who's gonna take down the Galactic Council? I want to see The Great War! I want to see Gavin and Zhara's story. I want to see Sonia and Prince Z's story. I want to see Vhal and the other Titan's stories. Aaagh, I need them!!

Regine....please. I'm begging. I'm not asking for too much....just a couple novellas would be fine. LOL

I loved this series (including the intertwined Braxian series). I loved the overarching story line. I loved the mix of Aliens and different cultures and all the culture clashes that inevitably happened. I loved the message of acceptance and compromise. Which is also why I love RA's Prime Mating Agency series so much. What am I gonna do now? I guess I'm off to read the Xian Warriors now, lol.

An EPIC READ !!! TRULY

I have read every book of this series, and the story is Amazing!!!! And this book just takes the overall story to the next level !!
Filled with plenty of Apex Alphas, heartbreak , secrets revealed, and prophesies fulfilled, this book is such an exciting read , that I could barely put down !!
In this book we meet Ashara , who is now Captain of the Veridian battleship the Tempest. She receives a distress call from a Guldan ship. But not just any Guldan ship. It from Tevek, the Guldan
responsible for the Veridians obtaining the ," List " . The list of all of Gruuk Vrok's transactions of selling Veridians across the galaxy. The list enabeling the Veridians to rescue all of their enslaved sisters across the galaxy.
So , in essence Tevek is as trustworthy as a Guldan can be.
As Tevek and Ashara come to know each other , their destinies intertwine with a few more branches of our beloved Veridians, Xelixians, Braxians, Guldans, Korleathens, and also Sarenians , bringing the East and West quadrants closer for the upcoming Great War....
An awful lot of old friends meeting their destinies, and breaking bread, and of course new friends doing the same makes me TOTALLY hate the words THE END !!!
Because I Don't want it to end !!!
EVER !!!
I had a terrific time trying to figure out how the story would come to its conclusion, only to be wrong on some points, and right on others .....
A truly Epic read !!!
I am anticipating more awesomeness stories in the future !!!

This is another intense sci-fi romance in the Veredian Chronicles. It’s the sixth book in the series but the ninth in the author’s overall suggested reading order.

Veredian FMC Ashara is an accomplished warrior devoted to protecting her sisters and people. She never expected to find her soulmate in Tevek, the son of a notorious Guldan slaver, but as everyone says, the Goddess doesn’t make mistakes.

This was a complex and emotional installment in the series. Several main characters from previous books play integral roles and even have their own POV chapters. I enjoyed the couple’s romance journey, though it definitely took a backseat to the rest of the plot. Many storylines seem to be converging in preparation for the next few books.

I can’t wait to see what’s in store next in Keran's Dawn (Braxians #4) is the next in the author’s recommended reading order.

Some writers are just Hit and Miss not matter you might love and or respect some of their work.

Hey, sorry but I want my h to want her H more than this lukewarm “romance” was giving me at 38%.

“Hey, I want my “soulmate” ! But ONLY if he’s NOT from the race of our former oppressors and having his future babies won’t be a problem.”
Our heroine practically screams with her actions if not always her words the moment she feels the “Tuning” kick in.
Honestly, I’m soo sick of stories where the h is so F’ing wishywashy like this.
Hey,not I love a good chase and even when “insta-love” and fated mates are involved I don’t want the heroine just rolling over with her legs in the air saying ,” take me I’m yours.”
They’ve gotta work fi4 it or there’s no story,no conquest.
It won’t feel real if it’s too easy.
We all know from our own lives nothing good is ever truly easy.
That said , the whole pessimistic closing the door to almost shut and making excuses why it can’t work and playing hide and seek before it’s even started isn’t fun, cool or sexy.
And it’s damn sure not romantic .
Poor Tev comes along and is almost struck dumb from wanting her, while she wants to run and hide and resist with out ever giving him a chance.
Damn,I wanna like this but it’s just not working for me .
The chemistry just isn’t there.
I’m a strong woman, had to be to survive but in a romance I want not just to read about other strong women, I want a woman with a willing heart who wants to take chances for love.
A woman who’s willing to seek it with both hands, not giving up before it’s started because it might be difficult.
Now fir the moment this will be a DNF for and all I can say is it’s not working for me.
This book feels less about “romance” and more about the continuing story of the Veredian ppl and their allies.
The Guldans are wanting to bring everyone down and are stirring the pot HARD to do so. Problem is that the mistakes of others (i.e. most Veredian women’s fathers and some mates ( see previous book) have left their marks of destruction. A destruction others didn’t know about and of course are now being used as seeds for dissension and more destruction.
Dear lord, it reminds me soo much of what’s going around us here atm.
Oppressed ppl’s trying to survive and rebuild, ppl trying to figure who to trust and believe amongst so many rumors and lies and half truths .
Truths are finally coming out but their coming out at the expense of ties and alliances that are needed to remain strong and prosper . Sometimes knowing something that happened in the past, can help you and maybe set you free. Other times all it does is hurt you abs create pain and doubt where is not needed.
Yes, ( I can’t spell this right) the Korlethians hurt a lot or ppl in the past but the past is gone abs can’t be helped or changed by blurring it out now.
This story feels more about secrets and lies and mistrust and political maneuvering than it does anything else.
The two MC’s just feel along for the ride.
The make lead almost has to apologize for being who and what h3 is even though he’s a great guy by anyone’s standards. Having to prove himself solely because of his species . While the heroine can be moody and mistrusting, quick to jump to conclusions and feel easily slighted, ( I mean ,ok we get it he’s supposedly dominant and your a big tough girl who isn’t the slightest bit submissive. That doesn’t mean he should have to be on egg shells to keep from offending you and getting your back up .).
This is on me.
You love this series, please read and enjoy. I hope you see something I don’t.
But I want a fun, enjoyable romance with an optimistic h,who’s heart isn’t cowardly and isn’t looking for something to be offended at to hold against her H.
Also a book that doesn’t feel more about the political machinations of warring species than it does the romance it’s “supposed” to be about .

Ps. Why O why, does the bodies have to be perfection and the minds can be flawed. While I love the look of the H on the cover why does the body have to be perfect but everything and be poo ?

William Shakespeare — 'Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind,And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.'
Don’t know about the Cupid part, but I do know love should be looking with the mind more than the eyes.
Give me a flawed body over a closed heart and messed up mind any day.

The final book - 3.5 stars

I was excited to start the final story from the Veridian Chronicles series! I really enjoyed seeing more about the Titans and how the tides were ultimately were going to change, although this was done in a summarizing fashion.

I did have a few concerns - SPOILERS to the end. One disconnect for me was the comments that Varrek died before his father Gruuk, and so Tevek's father Doruk was given custody of Mercy under Guldan law. Gruuk died well before Varrek. Varrek attempted to take over his father's business and he taunted Amalia with the information left on Gruuk's medallion (the video) after his death which was seen after discovering Mercy was needed to view it. This seems like a big oversight and yanked me out of the story. Secondly, I didn't really feel the romance between Tevek and Ashara. The words were there and I could see the potential and why it would be good to have a Guldan H, but it was a miss for me. While he was a nice guy, I didn't really like him very much as he still thought less of women even though he viewed himself as different - I mean he is, but I kept being irritated by his internal views of women although less degrading and slave-like than the rest of his race. Although he does comment how he didnt realize how much he'd like to see her in his collar the women wear on his home planet. Yikes. I didn't feel like he really changed or came to any concrete realizations about how he thought about women but just talked about how he still instinctively right them inferior and didn't realize he would line some of their attitudes to women (not the violent ones, but controlling ones). I don't think Ashara was unreasonable with her reticence to be with a Guldan, but she was all over the place - pretty extreme hot and cold - and her passions felt forced rather than sincere. Like it was expected. I didn't feel that build of intimacy and trust I usually see with Ms. Abel. I mean, Ashara's concern about having Guldan children wasn't even resolved before they slept together. Repeatedly. Knowing you were either taking precautions or you had a plan to prevent you from dying during childbirth seems like a pretty important thing to figure out, especially for your soulmate! Things did get better between them, but it didn't really feel like growth, more like that's where the story was supposed to go. It wasn't terrible by any stretch, but I felt it was missing something her other relationships in the series had. I mean, I found myself waiting for the POVs from the previous characters and wanted to follow the vein of the overarching story from the previous books. Not a great sign.

All in all, I'm glad I read the last book to get the rest of the story, but I found myself a bit disappointed in this one both with the relationship and how quickly the story arch seemed to end. I'm not sure what I was expecting, possibly some showdown involving the Titans, but this wasn't it. Again, not bad just different than my expectations. You should definitely see how you feel for yourself. I would still recommend this series if that's any indication.

Defying Fate by Regine Abel is a thrilling, emotionally charged conclusion to the Veredian Chronicles that perfectly encapsulates everything readers love about this series. Tevek and Ashara’s romance is a heart-pounding, high-stakes journey that sees them both grappling with their pasts, their responsibilities, and the undeniable bond that fate has thrust upon them. Tevek, a brilliant yet conflicted Guldan, and Ashara, a fierce Veredian weapons expert, form a magnetic couple whose relationship is tested by both external dangers and internal conflicts. The stakes couldn’t be higher as they face off against assassins and the weight of a prophecy that could change everything.
What makes this book truly shine is its emotional depth. The love between Tevek and Ashara is complicated by their vastly different backgrounds, but their undeniable chemistry and devotion to each other make their relationship feel both epic and deeply personal. Ashara, as a commanding, powerful woman, is an amazing heroine, and watching her grow alongside Tevek is incredibly satisfying. Tevek’s journey of self-reflection and his determination to change his people’s oppressive ways is both inspiring and heartbreaking.
The world-building is magnificent, with Abel weaving together a narrative that is rich in lore, action, and political intrigue. The space opera elements are on full display, with breathtaking battle scenes, steamy romance, and high tension as Tevek and Ashara fight to survive and fulfill their destinies. The inclusion of beloved characters from previous books, along with some new ones, makes this a truly satisfying read. The emotional weight of the story—filled with triumphs, sacrifices, and personal growth—will have readers feeling all the feels.
The ending is both fulfilling and bittersweet, as it wraps up the main storylines while leaving just enough to make readers eager for more. Defying Fate is a powerful testament to the strength of love, the importance of growth, and the courage it takes to defy fate itself. Fans of the series will find this book to be a perfect culmination of everything that’s come before, while still leaving room for new adventures and stories to unfold.

The end

Last book in the series, I wondered if we will have a series with the titans finding love and a few battles.or if we would see the war in 8 years time that the titans would fight? This series was about the titans parents and the battles with other close worlds it ends with them being fourteen and a sort of peace friendship with other types of beings.but there is room for the storyline to continue in a little different way.

There is a spin off series (3 books) with mercy and how hope met her mate (I haven't read it but now I know the outcome not sure I want to) truth is I should of read it before I finished the last two books or so,in this series mercy goes of to claim her father's lands etc you don't know what happens that when I should of switched before I got spoilers in this one.but you have to start with this series I wish the author just made this series 9 books.

This is my first time reading this author not a huge fan of aliens but love supernatural.I did find the storyline interesting and the twists and turns a fun read.it's not for the faint hearted with the you will have sex and make a baby prisoners and then give them away, it messy with your head. The bad guy was complex, bad yes and yes evil maybe a little bit.you could understand mercys confused feelings to him, he was just being what his kind was but he did have a good side to and tried to do some good where he could from the shadows.
This series is a fun mind mess that really mess with your feelings.

I have to admit that I've been reading enough romance of late that perhaps I'm a bit burned out on it. I found myself very impatient with the amount of sex in this book, often likening it to a one-handed read. At one point, when I was flipping through the sex to get to the story, I found myself wondering if it were time to abandon this series as I have done other romance series that were too slow to develop the long arc story (yes, I'm lookin' at you, Christine Feehan, Kresley Cole, etc.).

But Abel brought it back around and hooked me with the long arc once again. These books are creative, the worlds are at once horrifying and fabulous, rich and textured in multiple layers, and the long arc is shaping up to be nothing short of epic. But having to drudge through every romance only to get a little handful of the long arc is starting to wear on me. Personally, I'd much rather see the long arc more diligently tended and for the author to reign back some of the sex to create space for multiple relationships to be addressed in the same book. That might move things along faster.

Or perhaps I should just acknowledge that I prefer a bit of romance and some sexy times with my fantasy and scifi, rather than a bit of scifi and fantasy with my romance and erotica.

I’ve been hanging out for this book, eagerly awaiting it and it did not disappoint! I loved how the author forced her secondary characters and the female lead to really hold up a magnifying glass to their own prejudices, to really look at themselves and see who they were and what they were teaching their children.

The male lead started the story award of his own prejudices but was forced to confront how ingrained they were and how much he’d have to change to make his own dreams viable.

The relationship development was, understandably, volatile as full of challenges. There were points where I, the reader, squirmed as I empathised with the characters’ discomforts. But the depth of emotions and the real work towards being authentic meant that this story was beautiful.

Whilst it stood alone, it was the conclusion to a very complex series and there were a lot of moving parts - it would be best enjoyed after reading the rest of the series.

The story was mainly dual POV, beautifully written, and well edited. I was thrilled to read it and feel satisfied that the story arc is complete.

What do you do when all the secrets are revealed? Do you hide, confront, forgive, seek revenge, attack? This book wrapped up as a sci-fi (light on the) romance explores the themes of honesty, loyalty, forgiveness, and restitution. It looks at the aftermath of inherited shame, abuse, and generational mistreatment.

This is not heavy-handed, but a nudge towards self introspection and discussions about choices on a personal level and a national level. Plus, it wraps up this challenging series in an interesting way.

At the time of writing this review, I still haven't decided whether or not to read the Braxian offshoot series. But if I did, I think I would probably only read Krygors Hope. There is some reference in this story to events and people that I think may take place in that story. I'm not really into reading explicit details of dark stuff. It was a challenge enough for me to keep reading through the explicit details of some of the twisted stuff that happens in Raising Amelia. Apparently, the Braxian series is darker and more explicit.

I feel like this was an epic conclusion to this series because SO MANY events and characters came together in this book, BUT once you read the end you know it's not over. Ashara is a Veredian and a commanding alpha female. After all, the captain of a starship would have to be. Tevek is a Guldan with heart. He has a heart for change on his planet and with his people. The freaky thing is that fate has paired him with such a dominant female, Ashara. This book really reads like a space opera. Get ready for epic battle scenes, steamy rendezvous with our couple, and catching up with old friends! One of my favorite things about this story, aside from the main couple, is seeing the Sarenian Price, Zerien. I CANNOT wait for his story! This is not a stand-alone, so definitely catch up with the previous books in this series. Fabulous! 4.5 stars

An excellent sci-fi romance.

This novel was a deeply satisfying installment in this series, wrapping up many plot threads that have been running throughout while introducing new ones that will carry over and help the series resolution as a whole. I thought the characterization of both the hero and the heroine was competent, even if their romantic relationship was not very compelling. Where this novel truly shined was in the vibrant world building and incredibly tight, well constructed plotting. This novel reminded me of how much I enjoy space opera and would have strong cross genre appeal to sci-fi readers looking for more romance, a happy ending, and a hotter heat level in their space opera. An excellent, joy filled distraction on a Sunday where I was experiencing a lot of chronic pain.

I was often confused because of the TONS of names and races being dropped. I couldn't remember all of the previous characters and back stories that were being referred to. It helped when I went back and reread all of the descriptions in the Braxian and Veridian series and my previous reviews but I still felt lost at times. It was annoying to constantly have to go back and refresh my memory. I think this book would have been more enjoyable if I would have waited until the series was finished so I could read everything back to back. Or, maybe if the author had a list of characters and races at the end of the book. Overall, the story, hero, and heroine were good. I didn't love it as much as others in the series but it was still an overall good read. I want to know what happens with so many remaining characters. I hope there is a spinoff....

Good message

I liked this book. It was not an easy quick read, and if you haven't read at least some of the previous books in the series it probably wouldn't make a lot of sense. I liked the messages about honoring your heritage but not letting it make you narrow minded. The romance aspect was part of the plot but it didn't feel like the main part. I still gave this book 5 stars because the characters and world were so well developed and compelling. The overall storyline was really interesting. Everyone learned and grew and found their places through the events of the book. It was also a good continuation of the series and is hopefully setting up the Great War that has been talked about since the early days of the series.

Glad to have found this book six!

I was so surprised to find this book six in the series. I thought for sure book five was the last one. This is such a good read. You get to catch up with many of your favorite characters from the series plus the older Titans. The focus on this book is the prophecy surrounding Tevek,a Guldan, and his soul mate Ashara, a Veredian. It’s like the author has taken current life issues to infuse into their relationship. It’s beautiful nevertheless. There is finally forgiveness had from all those past secrets that were spilled by the enemies. It does not end in perfection but it ends in a good place where healing is occurring but also people weary of changes to their society and more freedoms for women. Read On!

Hmmmmmm

Things I liked:

I really did enjoy how the author took on complicated aspects of slavery/bondage and immigration/refugees.
That cover - enough said here.

Things I didn't like:

Amalia stopped being a pivotal character like book 2.
Mercy's self-righteousness was unwarranted. Slavery is still slavery, regardless of the kindness of the master. Like...girl. Get over yourself.
The Veredians are coded as black (maybe I'm projecting) but are expected to be more classic/ stereotypical MLK rather than classic/stereotypical Malcolm X - ion like that.

If another book comes out, I'll definitely read it, but I'm not enjoying the political/cultural/social developments/aspects of the world.

A bad ass plot🤩

WOW.. OMG this is epic , bad ass plot in every detail possible. I was transported to a whole of wonder, with the right amount everything in the side of emotions to me. Frankly not only I forgot my surroundings but late night to the AM. This book and series Rocks bid time!🤩😘
My hang ups are the fact that the alien speak and not only think in English they do embody their true nature as a whole is the biggest problem of all. Why make a wondrous world that sound human and look the other way. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

👎👎This author really, really needs to invent a vocab that will make them sound more genuine to the storyline.
Hence the 4 stars.
But I recommend every single books if our readers are not to stanch on being on the side of the perfect alien dialogue.

Beyond amazing

This series blew me away. If you have just stumbled upon this, please go back and start from Book 1. Definitely don’t read this as a stand-alone.

All secrets and lies are revealed in this book, and who would have thought we would see Gruuk in such a new light?

Like the couples in previous books, Tevek and Ashara serve their purpose in moving the plot forward and their relationship was well woven within the intrigues.

I cannot believe I am up to date and must now wait PATIENTLY for the other books. This world that the author has built, with all the different species and traits, left me speechless. You know how sometimes the food you eat is so good that you get angry? That is exactly how I feel about the Veredian Chronicles.

Stunned with joy

I'm so happy with the book. It was an emotional roller coaster for me. When you get to know about each character you make a bond that reaches into your heart. It gives all kinds of feelings pride, sadness, joy when they reach happiness. I'm beside myself. Those speeches rhadammes to eyron to mercy, Ashara an not forgetting the emotional meeting of vhal an the prince. I live for these feeling. It was good cry. I felt the lump of pride for each character how they grew in to their better self accepting their faults an especially accepting that they all are a miracle to survive. Congrats Regine it was fantastic read.

A sci-fi series where fate may mean life is death. This series has quite a few different aliens. This one follows Tevek, a Guldan and Ashara, a Veredian. The series has brought so many great characters and these two will change the future for all. The story is a sci-fi adventurous romance but it also is about finding the truth, helping those who can’t save themselves be it slavery or looked down upon and about standing up for what is right. There is fighting both in space and on planets. The twists will surprise you and make you rethink about characters from previous stories. Just remember the Goddess doesn’t make mistakes.

Bowing to reality

Guldan rebel leader Tevek is the son of a slaver. Ashara the Tuurean ship captain is the hybrid Korlethean/Veredian daughter of two of those slaves. When they are revealed as soulmates, their irresistible attraction is equaled by their deep racial prejudice and conflicting culltures. Their steamy but conflicted relationship progresses against a troubled, sometimes violently xenophobic upheaval among many of the galaxy's greatest planets. The struggle is heartbreaking on the personal level, fascinating on the political level, and fraught with imminent disaster right up until the end. It all makes for great reading.

An amazing story!

I love seeing familiar faces on Veredia and Braxia, catching up with current events, hearing the new revelations.
Reading along as this story unfolds is incredibly exciting. Important events are occurring on several different fronts, culminating in a truly volatile situation. You’ll find this to be an extraordinary adventure, learn the challenges of soulmates from vastly differing cultures, see the results as allies present a unified front. The author interweaves the complex stories with a masterful hand. I enjoyed every bit of it!

A brilliant and thoroughly satisfying conclusion to this beloved series! I was surprised by some unforeseen plot twists (not being an oracle myself) and delighted by some thought-provoking and inspiring wisdom that is certainly applicable to Earthly race relations as well as distant alien planets. Regine creates amazing characters who are very likable, and yet lovably flawed. I loved Defying Fate!

Tevek has been searching for his mother and sister for a long time. He crosses paths with Ashara after being sent on a mission by his emperor. Ashara can't believe her luck in finding out that Tevek is her true mate. His bloodline is responsible for the plight of her people. The two will have assassins and secrets to worry about, not to mention Tevek finding his family. An action packed read with plenty of romance.

So much better

Things that bothered me before in other books were addressed in this one. But wow, the author did such an excellent job, addressing those issues, helping the characters to evolve & become better versions of themselves. Man, I can’t wait to see how the ongoing plot progresses, it was riveting. I liked the main characters, the female & male learning to compromise & loving each other. It was so sweet.

The secrets are all out

Ashara finally meets her soulmate but he is nothing she expected. She must learn to put her own prejudice aside to be with the other half of her soul. While Ashara learns to love her soulmate, the end of the Veredian secrets comes out. As all of the stories in this series, this one picks up where the last left off and continues the overall story arc. This ends the current arc mostly, but sets up future possibilities.

what a lot revelations

This book felt transitional and super good. The Korletheans may well be getting their comeuppance. Braxia and Sarens will solidify a budding alliance. Ashara and Tevek had a long hard road to accomplish and change in mind, destination and career set. I love all the alliances and hard truth’s that had to be digested in this book. As always great intimated scenes and the imaginative world, weapon and people building are just intriguing.

Nice way of wrapping things up

This wasn't my favorite couple but the message of the book to not hold past mistakes again an individual moved me. I'm glad the author was able to wrap up everything in this book and use it as a stepping stone to the next series with the Titans. Thanks!
