The Black Sheep Knitters are on the case when a club member’s ex-boyfriend is accused of murder at the Plum Harbor Farmers and Crafts Market in the fourth installment of New York Times bestselling author Anne Canadeo’s knitting-themed Black Sheep & Co. Mystery series.
Romantic entanglements and handcrafted murder tie the Black Sheep knitters in knots when the local farmers’ market becomes a haven for a killer . . .
Phoebe Myers, Black Sheep Knitting Shop’s assistant manager, finally comes out from behind the counter to sell her own creations—Socks by Phoebe—at the Plum Harbor Farmers’ and Crafts Market, a lively, colorful venue that draws shoppers from miles around. But her excitement cools when she learns the previous tenant of her booth, farmer Jimmy Hooper, committed suicide. She’s barely raised her Grand Opening banner when Hooper’s death is upgraded to murder.
Phoebe worries that her stall is jinxed when things go from bad to worse. The last person she wants to see, her ex-boyfriend Harry “The Potter” McSweeney, appears in the stall across the aisle to sell his wares. The Black Sheep advise Phoebe to be strong and resist the handsome artist’s spell. But romantic sparks and tempers explode in a very public scene—and a pile of broken pottery. Before Phoebe can get back to business, her stall is trashed, her Facebook page hacked, and another vendor is found dead.
The Black Sheep worry for Phoebe’s safety, especially when Harry becomes the prime suspect in both crimes. Phoebe refuses to believe he’s a killer and is determined to prove him innocent. Her friends are not convinced, but for Phoebe’s sake—and her safety—the Black Sheep puts their wits together to catch the crafty marketplace killer who’s hiding in plain sight . . .
Another fantastic addition to the Black Sheep Knitting mysteries! This series has warmed my heart from the get-go, and with each book I have fallen more in love with the characters. Each of the women has their own unique talents, with Maggie as the focal point that bonds them all together. The mystery itself was multi-layered, with clues and red herrings spaced perfectly throughout the story. I am so anxious for another installment in this wonderful series.
Strangers on a Skein is a fantastic addition to Black Sheep & Company Mystery series written by Anne Canadeo. I love this fun group of ladies, they each bring their own dynamic personality to the stories. Phoebe is at the center of a murder investigation, which leads her to question her breakup with Harry. Maggie, Lucy, Suzanne, and Dana rally around Phoebe, who refuses to believe that Harry is responsible for any of the horrible things going on.
I love this tight knit (pun intended) group of friends, and the adorable book cover pushed this book to the top of my TBR pile. I'm so excited to read the next book in the series. #StrangersonaSkein #NetGalley
Strangers on a Skein is the 12th book in the Black Sheep & Company Mystery series. In this fun tale, I got to meet Phoebe Myers, Black Sheep Knitting Shop’s assistant manager, and member of the knitting circle. Although it was instalment 12, it was my 1st in this series and I had no difficulties keeping up with characters and events and it worked for me as an individual story. Phoebe was a great character who I liked immensely. There was no shortage of secrets or engaging chapters so I was thoroughly invested in finding out what would happen next. The great cast of characters helped to zhoosh up this impressive, layered cozy, which was big on friendship and support. Anne Canadeo's writing was fluid, the details of the plot were well-executed, and the story was easy to follow. I am looking forward to reading the other instalments. Very highly recommended.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Kensington Books via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
I’m a newcomer to the Black Sheep & Company Mystery Series and let me just say, I found this book delightful. It centers on Maggie, the owner of a knitting & yarn shop, and her small group of friends who she knits with. There’s Suzanne, Dana, Lucy, and youngest friend, Phoebe. Phoebe works in Maggie’s shop and also lives in the apartment upstairs.
The mystery begins when a spot opens up at the local farmers market and Phoebe is invited to sell her handcrafted socks and other goods at the market. It’s very difficult to get a spot and when a local farm passes away and Phoebe is asked to come and be a vendor, she jumps at the chance.
But things aren’t exactly what they seem. While it is originally believed that the former owner of the stand died of natural causes, the police soon discover that Jimmy Hooper was murdered. And as weird things start going on at the farmer’s market, the knitting friends begin to think that there was more going on with Jimmy and the market than anyone realizes.
My favorite part of this series was Maggie and her friend group. I enjoyed that they all got together quite frequently to knit and chat and enjoy food together. And it make me happy how even though Phoebe was a bit younger (in her twenties) the group accepted her as one of their own, and looked after her. A lot of things happen to Phoebe in this book because she is the one who has a stand at the market, and the rest of the friends all look out for her to make sure she is ok.
The mystery kept me guessing. At first I believed one thing, but soon realized that I was on the wrong path and started believing another. There are many different characters in the story, including an ex boyfriend of Phoebes, as well as another young man who might be interested in dating her. It made me laugh and the ladies all had certain ideas about who Phoebe should date next, although they kept that conversation to themselves and didn’t let Phoebe know, for fear that she might think they are interfering.
I’m definitely interested in checking out the rest of the series. While cozy mysteries can often be read as standalones because they fill you in on what you missed, it sounds like there were a lot of interesting mysteries in the beginning of the series that I would like to check out. The characters in this story were really pleasant to read about and I want to read the rest of the books to find out more about their lives.
Strangers on a Skein by Anne Canadeo (Black Sheep & Company Mystery #4) 3.5 stars
This outing of the Black Sheep & Company Mystery focuses on Phoebe, Maggie's assistant manager. A booth at the local farmer's market just became available and Phoebe will be selling her hand knitting goods there. Phoebe finds out that the booth became available because the original stall holder committed suicide. Things get weird for Phoebe when she finds out that an ex-boyfriend will be working a stall nearby. Throw in hostile farmers, vandalism and cyber bullying, Phoebe now wonders if getting a stall is a good thing. After her ex-boyfriend's aunt is found dead in her home, the atmosphere at the market is trending towards chilling. The ladies of Black Sheep & Company have to marshal their resources to get the bottom of these crimes or Phoebe may end up the next victim.
I have been reading this series for years and I loved last years entry "The Hounds of the Basket Stitch". But this one fell flat for me. The book was a fast read and not demanding. I think what spoiled it for me was the attitude Maggie, Suzanne and the others have toward Phoebe. It was a bit overprotected for my taste. The series overall is excellent and I look forward to the next book in the series.
Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for this ARC.
I don't read these in order to be caught completely off guard, but I saw this one coming pretty early on. Suzanne has never been my favorite character, but she really rubbed me the wrong way in this one. Not sure if that's more because of this book or because it's been something like 5 years since I read the previous one and I'm simply less tolerant of that persona now. I'll probably read the last one, but only because it's the last one.
We love farmer's markets and peddler's malls with the various booths, the setting for this volume of the series. My sister has had a booth and I have helped marginally with that.
I love that Phoebe has her own booth for her knitting wares, that she is expanding her abilities and marketing. I can just imagine a booth like that in our own local arts festival.
I love that Maggie and Charles were taking time off to go sailing together. It sounds beautiful and relaxing. I'm glad that they've found a hobby together that's different than the hobby that Maggie shared with her first husband (deceased.)
Whatever happened to the biking in the series?
I agree with the reviewer that said that the best part of this book is the friendships. One reviewer complained that Phoebe's friends are all over-protective of her. They're also all about 20 years older than she is, some more (Maggie), and some less, (Lucy). I think that's natural for them to be protective of her, particularly as Maggie views her as kind of a daughter. Plus, they all do seem to try - key word is try, not necessarily succeed - to give her the space and independence to make her own decisions and be herself.
I actually agree with Phoebe more than her friends about Harry, sort of, but they had valid points, too. I agree with Phoebe that she should've let him explain his side of the story. Things may have looked bad, but they may have been misinterpreted, or one-sided affections, etc. We don't know at that point whether Phoebe was jumping to conclusions or whether he really was unfaithful.
However, I think that Phoebe should've done that much earlier on, and NOT after Harry'd thrown a frightening temper tantrum at not being heard. She shouldn't have rewarded him for the tantrum by listening to him, and that kind of volatile rage is reason enough to leave a relationship, without even bothering to consider if he'd been unfaithful.
It is okay to compassionately listen to someone's side of things while still having a firm boundary about refusing to date him. Of course that only works for the sort of person who's capable of keeping that boundary.
One reviewer pointed out that the police should've been able to catch up with that heavy truck. True.
I wish the contents of the epilog had been expanded to be its own subsequent book. I would've liked more detail. I have wondered before about what kind of daughter Maggie would have and how she'd get along with Phoebe, or whether she'd feel replaced by Phoebe, but we hardly got a line about the daughter coming back.
One reviewer complained about Suzanne's overbearing personality. That bothered me more in "A Murder in Mohair" and "Purls and Poison" than in this one. In this book, Suzanne didn't have as much of a role.
SPOILERS BELOW ....
I knew what the important clue about the photograph would be, I knew who was buying the drugs, and I knew who had committed one of the crimes, with a strong suspicion on the second crime, but the third crime evaded me. I am not convinced we had enough information to know at the time, although once we knew not just what the photograph clue was, but why it was important, then it did all fall into place.
I also knew that one of the characters had been fake, because as charming as the person was, nothing was ever corroborated by other witnesses. It just felt like a big setup. I was sorry to discover that, though. I liked the character.
⭐⭐⭐ Strangers on a Skein by Anne Canadeo brings the Black Sheep Knitters to the Plum Harbor Farmers and Crafts Market for a mystery that's as colorful as the handcrafted goods on display. Phoebe Myers, the knitting shop's assistant manager, is thrilled to finally sell her own creations—Socks by Phoebe—at the local farmers' market. But her excitement dims when she learns the previous booth tenant, farmer Jimmy Hooper, committed suicide. When his death is ruled a murder, things spiral downward fast. To make matters worse, Phoebe's ex-boyfriend Harry "The Potter" McSweeney sets up shop across the aisle, leading to explosive confrontations and broken pottery. Soon Phoebe's booth is trashed, her Facebook hacked, and another vendor turns up dead. With Harry as the prime suspect, Phoebe is determined to prove his innocence, even if the Black Sheep aren't convinced. The farmers' market setting is wonderful and brings fresh energy to the series. Canadeo captures the vibrant, bustling atmosphere perfectly, and I enjoyed seeing Phoebe take center stage. The romantic tension between Phoebe and Harry adds emotional depth, and watching the Black Sheep rally around their friend (even when skeptical) reinforces why this series works so well.
The mystery has plenty of suspects and keeps you engaged throughout. While I figured out some elements before the reveal, the journey was still enjoyable. The pacing is steady and the resolution ties things up nicely.
A solid entry that showcases both friendship and determination. Fans of the series will enjoy this one.
Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of STRANGERS ON A SKEIN (Book 4 of the Black Sheep & Co. Mysteries) by Anne Canadeo in exchange for an honest review. Phoebe Myers, assistant manager of the Black Sheep Knitting Shop, rents a booth at the local farmer’s market to sell her handknitted goods. Phoebe lucks into a prime spot, which opened due to the suicide of the previous booth owner. Phoebe soon learns that, though the surface appearance of the farmer’s market is happy and upbeat, the drama underneath that surface is hostile and vicious. To complicate matters, Phoebe’s ex-boyfriend Harry has a nearby booth and begins pressuring her to reconnect. Soon, Phoebe’s booth is vandalized, the suicide verdict is upgraded to homicide, and another vendor is murdered. When Harry becomes the prime suspect in both homicides and further arrested for possessing narcotics with intent to distribute, Phoebe and the Black Sheep Knitters find themselves investigating. Though Harry’s behavior towards Phoebe was less than honorable, Phoebe is certain his shady behavior doesn’t extend to murder.
I enjoyed this story. I’ve only read one prior book in this series and none in the original, but I had no problems keeping the story or the characters straight. I note that, though this story is Phoebe’s, it’s told primarily from the perspective of the proprietor of the knitting shop and only switches to Phoebe’s viewpoint in pivotal moments. I recommend this book to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, knitting, knitting shops, flea markets, farmer markets, or open air markets.
Strangers on A Skein is the twelfth book in the Black Sheep and Company mystery series. The Black Sheep Knitting Shop is run by Maggie and her assistant is Phoebe. The clientele love her work and cheerful ways. She is ecstatic to have a chance to get a booth at the Farmer’s and Crafts Market and what a boost it will be, just in time for the holidays. Phoebe knits socks and is looking to bring in even more clients with her hard work and meticulous marketing skills. It turns out her prime spot at the market was only available because the former stall holder passed away but things go from bad to worse when we find out he was really murdered. Her bad luck continues when he ex-boyfriend get a stall very close to hers and troublesome mischief starts happening with her stall being trashed and other negative things. Could her ex possibly be the one responsible for the murder? Phoebe's friends, though she is the youngest they take her under their wings with great conversation, delicious meals and back her up with solid friendship. The plot kept me guessing who the murderer was, I thought one way then when that fizzled out I followed another way of thinking. The plot kept me guessing and I enjoyed Phoebe's character. This book will appeal to people who enjoy yarn and knitting. There is a pattern link for over 22 vintage two-needle socks in the back of the book and also a recipe for zucchini and carrot patties with yogurt dill sauce. I will look for more books in this series in the future.
Pub Date 26 Oct 2021 I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
“Strangers on a Skein” the 12th instalment in the “Black Sheep and Company Mystery” series by Anne Canadoe. I have only read three other instalments in the series but I really enjoyed this book.
The Black Sheep Knitters are on the case when a club member’s ex-boyfriend is accused of murder at the Plum Harbor Farmers and Crafts Market
I enjoyed visiting Plum Harbor and the Black Sheep knitters again, it had been awhile. Phoebe the youngest of the knitters is at the centre of a murder investigation, which leads her to question her breakup with Harry. Maggie, Lucy, Suzanne, and Dana rally around Phoebe, who refuses to believe that Harry is responsible for any of the horrible things going on.
I do recommend you start at the beginning of the series, only for the sheer fact of the number of characters involved in the series, it might be easier to get to know them all from the start..
There are plenty of twists and turns in this story, and I kept guessing and second-guessing myself on whodunnit right to the very end. The story moves at a steady pace, and I had a hard time putting it down.
The ladies and their friendship is really what brings this series to life.
I recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.
I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Kensington Books and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I'd missed reading about these friends, so I was happy to grab this ARC when it came to NetGalley. I loved the title and kind of based some of my guesses on it. Phoebe, the youngest of the knitting friends was in the spotlight this time. I felt so bad for her having waited a long time for a spot at the farmers' and crafters' market then having all kinds of issues. Her sales did great, but her other luck went down the drain. There was a lot of unfriendliness going on at the market, and unfortunately (or maybe not) Phoebe's only friendly face was her ex-boyfriend Harry in a neighboring stall.
There were tons of secrets and layers to this mystery, and I had a hard time putting it down. Intrigue was everywhere at one point, but we always got a good taste of what this series has always been based on, the friendship of these knitting women. Boy, was the showdown and car chase a good one! I was proud of Phoebe for taking control when she did. I had my suspicions about someone, but I can't say a whole lot due to it being a more complex mystery. Just enjoy, lol.
I loved the epilogue which was probably long-awaited by fans. A sweet piece of news makes me very eager to read the next book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher via NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.
Maggie's shop assistant manager Phoebe, takes center stage in this latest mystery in the Black Sheep and Company series. In what seems like a great stroke of good luck, Phoebe is offered a stall at the farmer's market. It became available when the previous holder committed suicide. Phoebe knits sox and is looking forward to selling them. It's. not long before her good fortune goes sideways and then just plain deadly. Her ex-boyfriend turns up selling at the stall across from her, the previous holder of her stall? Turns out he didn't commit suicide...somebody committed murder and then there's some hacking, some vandalism, tempers flairing and another murder. Phoebe starts to believe in bad luck but Maggie, Suzanne, Dana and Lucy set out to catch the killer and protect Phoebe when her ex is accused of murder. They won't let her become the next corpse. The mystery is well done with a smooth writing style and the relationship between the women is the kind we all would love to have - they support and protect each other. As Phoebe is much younger than the others, they sort of act like protective aunties. I can't knit even the most basic stitch but I sure would like to join their group and see if they could change that. My thanks to the publisher Kensington and to NetGalley for giving me an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
Phoebe finally snags a spot at the local farmers market to sell her hand crafted goods. She finds that a spot opened up only because an old popular farmer had died, leaving his stall available. While Phoebe feels strange taking them man’s place, she soon finds the market itself is a strange place.
When the farmer’s death is changed from suicide to murder, things get even stranger with the murder of the stall operator across from her, who happens to be the aunt of her ex boyfriend. It seems the market, if not Phoebe’s stall, is cursed when her ex is accused of murdering both the farmer and his aunt. Phoebe stands by her ex and vows to prove his innocence. The Black Sheep knitters all seem to have some different input but will they find the one clue that will help the police find the killer and clear Harry the Potter?
A super fun series that is comprised of a group of knitters of all ages. I don’t know why but this one just didn’t quite feel like previous entries. Maybe because this time Maggie and the others were a bit more restrained in their sleuthing, or maybe it was just me. Either way, it was a good read and a solid whodunit.
A cozy featuring knitting is close behind one that features books or baking for me:>) While this is apparently the 12th book in this series, I've only read one before and didn't finish that one. I fared much better with this one!
In this installment, I really enjoy the relationship between the older women and Phoebe. There's a lot of humor but also a lot of the same real dilemmas of trying to give advice while still treading lightly, etc.
The setting of the craft & organic food market is engaging, and there's plenty going on with Maggie, Phoebe, and a murder...or two! I had a sense about halfway through that one character was not as presented, but I was still surprised by at least half of the resolution--and all of it felt logical and satisfying. Plenty of plot and motive to be a fairly complex set of circumstances, but it all makes sense at the end!
I'm going to have to go back and start this series at the beginning and see how I like it from the start. I do think that this book stands well on its own, though.
Review copy provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a charming series that I always enjoy returning to. This release is the 12th book in the popular cozy series "Black Sheep & Company". Thank you to both the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinion is my own.
Our next in series finds Phoebe at the center of a sleuth after her breakup with Henry. She becomes involved in center of a police investigation and the group is determined to save their friend from suspicion as well as clear her ex from murder charges. When a second murder occurs Phoebe 's ex is again involved as is a very mysterious set of circumstances. The knitting group steps up to help Phoebe clear his name and find the true suspect.
I loved this next in series. it is a departure from the previous books and involved Phoebe and different charcters. It was a well crafted sleuth that kept me guessing to conclusion. I love the setting and the supporting charcters as well as the group of friends that support one another. This series is the perfect cozy mystery read.
Book 4 of the Black Sheep & Company Mystery series or book 12 of the Black Sheep Knitting Mystery series depending on whose list you refer to.
I enjoy that each of the group takes a turn at being front and center in a book. In this story, Phoebe Myers, Black Sheep Knitting Shop's assistant manager, finally makes the move to sell her own creations--Socks by Phoebe--at the Plum Harbor Farmers' and Crafts Market. She soon learns that the previous stall owner committed suicide. Her ex-boyfriend gets a stall across from her. Her stall and a few others are trashed & she refuses to believe he, Harry, is the one behind it. The Blacksheep knitters also investigate the death of another stall owner & the trashing of stalls in their community.
I enjoy seeing the knitters work together to solve the crimes and protect each other.
The story also deals with cyber-bullying and media hacking.
I was given an Advanced Reader’s Copy by Netgalley and am not required to leave a positive review.
You might not look at your local farmer's market the same way after this one! Phoebe is excited to get a booth to sell her socks but sadly, the booth comes with a heavy legacy- the previous user was believed to have committed suicide until a review showed it was murder. Then, back things start to happen to her not the least of which (well emotionally) is the arrival of Harry, her ex, and his pots just across from her. He was a rat but when he's arrested for narcotics and murder (!) after another merchant is killed, Phoebe asks her friends from the Black Sheep to help her solve the crimes. They never liked him but they're up for helping Phoebe. I've only read a couple of the books in this long running series and I do think that helps because of the backstories and the range of characters (there's a wedding in the offing too). Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A classic cozy with friends in the lead.
Maggie's beloved yarn-shop assistant Phoebe gets a spot at the famous local farmer's market to sell her knitwear--the first step toward opening a shop of her own. But when she finds out that the previous stall-holder, a local organic farmer, killed himself--correction, was murdered--she wonders if the stall is cursed. It certainly seems that way when her stall is vandalized and so is her on-line presence. But maybe it was just an overreaction by her ex-boyfriend Harry, who uses his aunt's stall right across the way from hers. Another death leaves the police eyeing Harry, and judging Phoebe as guilty by association. There isn't quite so much of the meetings among the ardent knitters who frequent the shop in this series addition.
Phoebe gets a chance to have a stall at the market, selling her knitted goods; it’s one step toward her dream of having her own business, but the excitement is dimmed a bit when her welcome from other vendors is not exactly warm. When the Black Sheep knitters learn the vendor who had had the stall was murdered, they worry how Phoebe will take it, especially after someone vandalizes her stall. Even more worrying, her ex boyfriend has the stall across from hers, sharing with his aunt; when the aunt is murdered, suspicion falls on him. But even though they broke up, Phoebe can’t believe he would be a killer. The knitters find clues that will help make clear just who stinks the worst.
Terrible. The ladies are all written oddly with Maggie suddenly hating Mexican food as you have to eat tacos with your hands, when in the first few books this never was a problem; we also get an “anti-girl and anti-femininity lecture when Suzanne talks about wanting to dress up and throw a party for her engaged friend. Why are they suddenly hating on that when in previous books they mentioned having fun dressing up? Also why is everyone eating so healthy? In the previous books it was always a mix. Also it was super obvious that the taco truck was supplying the drugs, there’s no way the food it was selling was making any money; as a Mexican person it was completely obvious. Did not care for it at all.

Phoebe, youngest member of the Black Sheep knitters, has gotten a coveted booth at the local Farmer’s Market for her knitted socks and more. She’s a little concerned when she realizes her ex-boyfriend Harry has a booth across from hers, but Phoebe’s a very forgiving person. A fellow market member is murdered, and Harry is implicated in that and more. Questions abound and Maggie and her friends try to protect Phoebe and solve the mysteries. Woven throughout the story are the plans for Maggie’s wedding to Charlie. The solution to the murder was a “wow, didn’t see that coming” moment, but made total sense. All’s well in the end, and another fun addition to this series by Anne Canadeo.
"Strangers on a Skein" belongs to Phoebe. The young knitter has secured a spot at a local farmers' market at which to sell her knitted wares. She's also broken up with Harry the potter. Both of those facts loom large in this tale, which includes a couple of murders, a trashed booth and a besotted suitor.
Some aspects of the mystery were pretty obvious. Others seemed far-fetched. Still, this was a successful Black Sheep & Company Mystery.
Knitting was scant. Most of our Black Sheep knitters kept to the background. Still, it was glorious to see Phoebe in the main role and not relegated to being written as an irresponsible little girl.
This one makes me remember why I should do a review before I finish the book! Good thing that the publisher's blurb is so good or I'd get myself in a tangle and do a spoiler (which I think is just rude). Although I have read a couple of books in the series, it was long ago enough that I think that it can stand alone. The characters are so real and the plot is so sneaky and twisty, and don't get me started on the red herrings! I loved it! I requested and received a free temporary ebook copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
I had not read the other books in this series but had no trouble diving right into the story and never felt like I had missed something. I loved the way the characters interacted. The friendships really came through in the writing. The author's humorous writing style was very enjoyable. The mystery had many twists and kept me guessing. I will be checking out the prior books and look forward to the next installment of the series. I highly recommend Strangers on a Skein to cozy mystery lovers.
It’s always a pleasure to drop in in Maggie and the gang. I really love this series. A group of knitting pals who moonlight as sleuths. Two murders shock the town and at the heart of the ruckus is Phoebe. She takes center stage as a young entrepreneur but also nursing a broken heart. One character seemed too good to be true and my instincts were right on. The other plot line was interesting and tied in nicely with the main plot. Maggie and Charles take a big step and another knitter has big news to share. Tune in and see what it is. Thanks to Kensington and NetGalley for the early read.
Maybe 3.5 stars. When Phoebe gets a stall at the local market to sell her handknits, she's happy and excited, and so are her friends. But not everything is what seems — the previous stallholder died in suspicious circumstances, some of the other vendors are unfriendly, and her ex-boyfriend shares a nearby stall with his great-aunt. But Phoebe's friends are there for her, trying to help untangle various mysteries.
I love this series and the women and knitting it revolves around. This book started out much slower than all the others and I felt the pace of this book overall was slow -- Maybe because there was so much focus on Phoebe and so little on the other characters . I find her the weakest and least interesting character even after this entire book being devoted to her . Also, it was much easier to figure out the killer than in previous books. This killer was very obvious to me from the beginning. However, still an enjoyable read and I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Strangers on a Skein by Anne Canadeo is the fourth book in her Black Sheep & Co Mystery series. This book has an interesting storyline and likable characters. It is a well-written story but not my style. The storyline has a lot of descriptive prose and also lots of philosophizing conversations. I prefer less description and a faster pace. I really like the cover though.
I received an ARC and am happy to provide a honest review.
