I read Mated by Moonlight by CD Gorri in this collection and it was great! I loved the little bit of angst and a perfect amount of drama/possessiveness for this short MM shifter story!

Love is in the air
Every time these authors put out a new collection of stories I find myself with more than one new favorite book. Just check out this submission
Mated by Moonlight by C.D. Gorri
Second chances are made for us
What a fantastic breakthrough story by this author! I love how she kept true to her usual writing flare with characters that are easy to fall in love with, and enough danger and emotional angst to keep me enthralled until the last turn of the page. I love the dual shifter angle, it’s not a common occurrence and just added even more to this wonderful tale. The author did such an amazing job with this story, and I can only hope we will see more just like it.

Well, this is certainly a first for the ole Desert Lumens. My first time reading a book between two guys. Well, I guess if I was going to truly read a m4m book it would be written by Gorri. She’s one of the few who’d I’d trust to write a good enough story to keep me entertained so I can gingerly navigate sex scenes between dudes. Now, I read this book because hell, why not? I review books and I read for pleasure (not that kind). Gorri is one of my favorite authors on earth and she was attempting something new. I wanted to give her my all as she has given her fans her all to dabble in a new area so why shouldn’t I too step out of my field and try something new? Now, the story was soooo on point! I really liked Max and Jamie, even though Jamie had me clicking my tongue and shaking my head when they first reunited. I was like that B! 😂 but in typical Gorri fashion the story sucked me right into her world of greatness and I was hooked within the first 5 min. Max was something very special (no spoilers here) and I was soooo shocked and actually really excited! It’s something I haven’t really seen before and I wanted to read and know more! 🧐. The world building was excellent and I really liked how the story progressed. I would have liked to dig more into Max’s background but it was hinted at he had some wet work experience and that always intrigues and excites me. It’s quite often known from my reviews that I’m a bold thirsty fellow so I don’t believe in pardons and bygones being bygones. You literally have one time to mess with my family and I’m digging a hole for you. 🤷🏽‍♂️…. So there were some frustrating moments in the book for me lol but that’s just me. I know this won’t bother 98% of the reading population. 😈. But this 🐻 is protective. Anyways, the romance was actually quite tasteful although as a straight male I did shiver a couple times 🥶😱 at the descriptions 😅 but hell I’m not a total square peg lol. I really loved how Max communicated with his animal side. It was so awesome and I loved the connection he shared with Jamie. It was beautiful. I admit I was smiling like a goober quite a few times at their cute moments. This was an excellent book. Gorri truly nailed this book and I think for Pride month she did this community justice with this book. It’s a great book! If m4m is your thing you will love this. If giant growling shifters is your thing you will REALLY love this. Gorri can truly write and create the unthinkable when she opens that laptop. Come, explore her worlds and like me….fall in love with her many characters. This bear 🐻 gives this book 5 rainbows 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈 and 3 sparkling stars! ✨✨✨ for awesomeness!

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher for my unbiased review.

Review for: Mated by Moonlight by C. D. Gorri

Max Rose left Hope Falls eight years ago. Unlike most shifters, Max has two wolves that live inside him. A white wolf that is full of rage and a black wolf that whines, polar opposites. His wolves led him into trouble with the Alpha’s son, Camden Wyatt. The full moon was only a few hours away and Max was repairing Camden’s car at his stepfather’s Garage. The Alpha’s son shows up early and demands his car. He insults Max and makes cruel remarks about Max and his lover Jaime Mazzi. Max fights Camden and leaves him bloody on the ground in need of medical attention. Steven Greywolf, his step father helps him to leave Hope Falls and the Hope Falls Pack leaving the love of his life, Jaime, behind.
Jaime Mazzi owns and runs the Moonlight Café in Hope Falls. His small café is popular in town with the ever-changing menu and friendly atmosphere. His business is right across the street from his friend’s business Steven’s Garage. Recently Steven Greywolf has died. While working and serving his customers Jaime notices that someone is inside the closed business. He goes to confront the intruder. To his shock it is Max. They embrace and it is magic just like it was before Max left.
Can Max stay and reopen the Garage? Will Jaime and Max find the love they had together? Can Max finally claim his mate, Jaime, a gentle witch? Camden Wyatt is now the Alpha of the Hope Falls Pack. Will things change in Hope Falls or will trouble ensue?
This is a story of enduring love and hope. Max’s pair of wolves that share his soul are gentled and tamed by Jaime. Together they are complete. Love is love and you will find yourself cheering on Max and Jaime to succeed and make Hope Falls and better place to live.

I read the gay stories in the Beating Hearts anthology. I loved some of them, some of them I liked, and one of them felt like it should have been longer as it had an unfinished feel to it. Overall, I thought it was a great collection of stories, and I recommend reading it.

Blake's Return by Mary Winter. I liked Ken and Blake. It was shitty what happened to him in Little Rock and that it forced him to go back home to Mustang Ridge, but he's reunited with his childhood crush, gets a job where everyone loves and appreciates him, and has the freedom to shift into his horse form anytime he wants. There are lots of hot scenes in this story.

The Thin Line Between Love and Hate by Sheri Lyn. I liked this story. It has an intriguing storyline. The angel would be the one with questionable morals, and the demon is the one helping solve murder cases with the police. However, their paths cross, and they instantly fall in love. The book ends on a cliffhanger, so I'm assuming this is the first book in a series. My only problem was the switching of the stereotypes. As I was reading, I kept switching the roles of the main characters and thinking the angel's name was the demon based on how he acted and would change the demon character to the angel role. I think the story would have been better just to keep the characters in their stereotypical roles.

His wolf to Take by Amy Pennza. This book was hot! It's an MMF paranormal romance with two dominant alphas--one who likes to be dominated by the other alpha in bed--and a feisty female werewolf. I have a feeling I will be rereading this story.

No Fighting Fate by Lavina Lewis. I loved Finn and Rafe. I'm so glad that Rafe met his mate and found a new pride to live in. They were a super cute couple.

Ghost Whisperer by Carrie Davis. This was another great addition to the anthology. I loved Jonah and Beck and how they came from similar but different backgrounds. Jonah was kicked out at 17 by his domineering mom and had to learn to survive independently. And when Beck's domineering father caught Beck with another boy, he beat them both up and sent his son to a conversion camp, where he was tortured for six months. I loved that they both found each other and love.

His Fated Mate by Eve Riley. I liked Conall and Zolton, although Conall is definitely ruled by his emotions and is sometimes immature. Luckily, Zolton is his complete opposite. They were hot together.

Sired by E.M. Leya. I love fated mate stories, and this was a great one. I loved getting to watch Dan transition into a wolf with the help of his mate, Andre.

Mated by Moonlight by C.D. Gorri. I liked Jamie and Max. This story had a couple of issues that bugged me while reading. As this was an ARC copy, I don't know if they were fixed or not before it was published. There was one spot that was duplicated after Jamie said to get out to Max in chapter five. And having words capitalized that shouldn't be capitalized was distracting and annoying, like the word wolf. It shouldn't be capitalized.

A Shot at Love by Gina Kincade & Shifters Unleashed. I liked Micah and Jason, but I thought the story was too short. It had an unfinished feel to it.

I received an ARC of Mated by Moonlight by the amazing C.D. Gorri. This is an honest review by me, not in anyway influenced by the author.

If you are looking for a strong, kick-butt, take no prisoners Alpha, and the love he has for his fated mate, then add this story to your TBR stack.

I am absolutely in love with Max and James. The chemistry these two have, is something to be desired.

The only thing I didn't like about it, was that I wish there was more to read. So many unanswered questions.

A large Anthology of paranormal tales with Gay and Lesbian characters to entertain you.
The thirteen titles in this anthology are as mixed and varied as the authors who have written them. Whatever your paranormal creature there will be something to your taste and maybe a new author for you to discover. I found some of my favorite authors and many who were new to me and these I also enjoyed. Ideal way to get plenty of reading for breaks or lazy days.

This is a 14 author, LGBTQIA Paranormal Antholgy with amazing stories with unique and diverse characters. I am reviewing C. D. Gorri's Mated by Moonlight, this was a great romance with interesting characters with well-developed histories, personalities, and values. This is a second chance at love romance story that has action, danger, twists, turns, tension and love. This was an amazing and detailed story, a must read for anyone who loves paranormal romance stories. I still have to read the other stories and will once I get the full version.

Some of the highlights:
Blake’s Return by Mary Winter was a gentle canter of a story, with two male horse shifters rekindling their romance and finding love in a small town. No big dramas, no earth moving revelations, just quiet acceptance.
The Thin Line Between Love and Hate by Sheri Lyn left me with a lot of questions and no resolutions. I assume is a prequel to a new series, but that’s not indicated in the post-script.
His Wolf to Take by Ann Pennza: wow-wee, this little story packs a punch. So much tension, both aggressive and sexual, so much emotion, such a great story.
A Shot at Love by Gina Kincade is a short little story about past regrets and a reunion gone right.
The Rewound Night by Jewel Cassidy was such an interesting concept: a time travelling vampire a la Tracey Possey-Cooper, with the twist of lesbian romance and plenty of bad men meeting bad ends. I really enjoyed this little ditty!
Tango Fuego by Terri A Wilson is a raucous good time with bar fights, a slimy incubus and an old demonic lover. Rosie is tough as nails with a heart of gold, her employees are her motley family, and if the Tango Fuego bar really existed, I’d love to visit!
Red Moon Rising by Ezrabet Bishop and Gina Kincade is the start of what promises to be an exciting but bloody series. There’s plenty of great build-up, and it will be interesting to see how it all develops.
While this review doesn’t include every story in the anthology, it’s all quality, and the perfect read to celebrate June and Pride Month.

Paranormal Anthology . . .

Beating Hearts is filled with exciting supernatural romance stories exploring the bonds between fated mates in the world of Shifters, Vampires, Witches, and more. Below is a review of one of the stories by an author I enjoy whose stories are wonderful. I hope you will agree, and enjoy the other amazing stories here as well.

Titles in this Anthology are:

1. BLAKE’S RETURN By Mary Winter
2. THE THIN LINE BETWEEN LOVE AND HATE By Sheri Lyn
3. HIS WOLF TO TAKE By Amy Pennza
4. NO FIGHTING FATE By Lavina Lewis
5. GHOST WHISPERER By Carrie Davis
6. HIS FATED MATE By Eve Riley
7. SIRED By E.M. Leya
8. MATED BY MOONLIGHT BY C.D. Gorri
9. A SHOT AT LOVE By Gina Kincade & Shifters Unleashed

11. TANGO FUEGO By Terri A. Wilson
12. THE GODDESS AND THE CRANE: A LESFIC SHIFTER ROMANCE By Cailee Francis
13. RED MOON RISING By Erzabet Bishop & Gina Kincade

*** Reviewing “A SHOT AT LOVE” by Gina Kincade ***
Micah is an eagle shifter and deeply in love with Jason, who is a Jaguar shifter. But Micah has second thoughts about the relationship, not wanting to cause trouble for Jason whose pride frowns upon inter-species relationships. But living without him is more painful than he realized it would be, and seeing him with someone else almost breaks him. Now that Micah realizes he wants Jason back, will Jason stay with his new lover? Is it too late for Micah to get him back?

The Rewound Night by Jewel Cassidy
Imagine being 40-years-old, single, and tired. You get home from work and bam(!) your attacked. You start fighting for your life, but it’s no good because he is faster. Then you disappear….

This is the premise for The Rewound Night. Jewel Cassidy takes us on a time-travel adventure. Dia ends up back in her college dorm room where apparently the thought of her death began.

Britt is her time-traveling savior. She might be holding back some secrets, but she is always up for a good time. As the pair try to stop the butterfly that started it all they get to now each other.

As the events unfold so does their love in an almost fated mates kind of way. Cassidy keeps you hooked right up until the end.

I really liked this story. Dia and Britt take each other’s loneliness away. So that when morning does come you want the HEA ending for them.

The Goddess and the Crane by Cailee Francis

The Goddess and the Crane has a good premise. Naji and Lirya are strong characters with an interesting backstory. I think where Cailee Francis’ falls short is in the chemistry between Naji and Lirya. For the storyline’s ending to work for me, I needed more chemistry. I am not saying sex, but an obvious attraction and connection.

I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

This review is only for the stories listed below. Review will be updated as additional stories are finished.

No Fighting Fate by Lavina Lewis
I enjoyed this story, but it was rather short. Everything happened over just a few days. I felt so sorry for Rafe. He lost his brother, his only real supporter, and gets kicked out of his pride for being gay. Finn has to hide that he's gay to stay the dominant of his pride. I could understand his struggle between his pride and his mate, but his change seemed rather fast (a symptom of the short story). I honestly think the best part of this story was Finn's mother (his father was good too, but his mother was a real star).

Ghost Whisperer by Carrie Davis
I did like Jonah, he had his pride, but it didn't make him arrogant or overly stubborn. I'm glad he had his grandfather to back him given how horrible his parents were. Beck had a truly tragic background and I could understand how he needed time to deal with that trauma. The flow threw me off at times with this story. The 3 year jump was just thrown in as part of a paragraph. I thought the story itself was interesting, but I felt like I had to reread parts to make sure I wasn't getting lost.

Beating Hearts

Beating Hearts
Blake’s Return 3

A spicy small town second chance romance.

The Thin Line Between Love and Hate 4

I really enjoyed this one. It was dark, fast paced and sexy. I hope the author has more in store for these characters. I have so many unanswered questions!

His Wolf to Take 3.5

Fun, fast-paced, and sexy! This was a fun short full of plenty of steamy scenes.

No Fighting Fate 4

Love it! I really enjoyed the characters and the whole forbidden love angle. Well written and enjoyable.

Ghost Whisperers 4.5

A sweet angsty story that captivated me from the start. I loved the characters and enjoyed their story.

His Fated Mate 4

Fiery and fun! Another enjoyable short forbidden love story. The characters were fun to read !

Sired 3

A fast moving story with instant love and fated mates.

Mated by Moonlight 3.5

A cute sweet story about second chances and fated mates. I really enjoyed the story but there were frequent name mixups that took me out of the story.

A Shot at Love 3

The story was another second Chance story between two different shifters. It was a quick and fun read.

This anthology is made up of shifter and paranormal stories. I enjoyed Mary Winters, Blake's Return, a second chance story between Blake and Ken. Both Blake and Ken are horse shifters which is not something you read about often. I felt bad for Blake for all he went through. Ken was good to him though.

The next story I am reviewing is Thin Line between love and hate, by Sheri Lyn. This book has main characters of an angel and a demon. That caught me right there. And the fact that they meet at a coffee house is cute. They are pretty steamy together and I love that they work together to figure for the human kids who were kidnapped.

I love reading anthologies as you get a taste of so many different authors and this one did not disappoint.

I really enjoyed this set of LGBTQIA+ stories. I truly loved the variety of paranormals (various shifter types, vampires, angels, demons, etc), settings, and tropes (time travel, second chance, opposites attract, fated mates, mpreg). I found stories from authors I've already read and loved, and also got acquainted with stories from authors who were new to me. Great variety. I really think there is something for everyone who enjoys this genre of stories.

This was a good gay paranormal anthology. Every story was well written. Finding mates and Mpreg were added in for our pleasure and it was easy to walk away and do something you had to do and come back because the stories were easy to read in one sitting. Amazing group of men and women. The challenges that needed to be solved brought out the best and the fun in these men and women. They were able to meet the challenges and find solutions in varying degrees of commitment, strategic planning and excitement. Some of the solutions took thinking outside the box and a willingness to take a risk. Well done! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
