holy heck. i read this in one sitting. truly beautiful and powerful. the strength in Jessica is nothing short of goddess. i can’t even imagine the bravery it took to write this memoir of the horrors she faced in order to share with us her story, and make those going through or have gone through something similar feel so not alone. it’s such a powerful story and an absolute must read for anyone facing traumas due to emotional or physical abuse.

Amazing brave story

I’m sobbing at the ending, good sobbing. I read this in one day and it was so so good. Difficult subject matter but told with such truth and rawness. My life has mirrored the authors in much the same way and although difficult to read, I commend her for telling her story. There is nothing braver than rising above being a victim and taking back your life. “May our abusers rot in hell” Keep climbing Jessica I can’t wait to read your next book!

Terrible, I can not even leave a review because all I want to do is scream at the author. I am returning the book to the store and praying they take it back, I don't even want it on my shelf.

Much less the horrible content, the book was filled with typos and grammatical errors that were so distracting. I don't think anyone hired an EDITOR during the entire publishing process, much less any beta readers!

What a damn waste of time! Do I have to give it ANY stars??

I cried because I felt her pain.

This is a riveting account of a local girl from my hometown that endured mental and physical abuse and the struggles she had. I wish I knew who she is but Corning is a big small town. I can understand her pain and the willingness to get out of the cycle of getting out of abusive relationships. Thank you for opening my eyes to the stuff we are most blind to.

The rise from ashes!

That was an absolutely amazing 200 pages and I will no doubt read it again when I feel like I am defeated. Such strength and grace and a will to live after all. The cost of this book just doesn’t do it justice or compare to what it awakens in one broken soul to another ... ty for that and please continue in your journey of healing

The author grew up 25 minutes away from me, so the setting was very familiar. As much as this is a fantastic book (it is), it is so very sad. We may ask why Jessica stays in the relationship but when someone has been brainwashed to such an extent, one cannot judge. Thank the Lord she dared to break free.

Finished this in less than 24 hours. Jessica beautifully writes about the struggles she’s been through which involved domestic violence. So brave of her to share her story ..it certainly will help many women!

Incredibly inspiring. As someone who has lived through DV I needed this book because I lived through a nightmare too. It brings another perspective to know you aren’t alone. I loved it not for what happens, but because I’m proud you made it to the other side too.
