As a child, L.C. thought she would either be a truck driver (thanks to Jerry Reed in Smokey and the Bandit) or work at Taco Bell (her favorite restaurant as a child). As she grew older, she realized her talents lay in other areas, and for the last several years has been a college professor teaching business and English.

Through all her career choices, she has continued to have a passion for writing stemming from childhood, where, as an only child, she developed a vivid imagination.

She is proud of her vast experiences in life from barrel racing, to being on the dance team for a semi-pro basketball team, to being a mom of 2 amazing kids.

She decided to follow her dream as an author in 2009 and has worked her way up to having 5 fans (maybe 6 now). She often tells her family and friends that no one is safe from his or her ventures slipping into her books. She lives in Indiana with her husband, kids and two very spoiled dogs.

L.C. previously published her cozy mysteries under Laina Turner.

Great characters in this crossover series book.

Things I liked:
1) I enjoyed characters from other series this author pens included in this story. I hope to see more crossover stories in the future from the new friendship formed in this book.
2) The characters are fun and relatable. Some of the things that they have experienced in life are similar to what I have seen myself and with/through my friends over the years. Well, other than the fact they put themselves in the middle of murder investigations. But that is great fiction.
3) This is a clean read that is engaging and entertaining. I wish I hadn’t started reading it so late (almost midnight). Even though it grabbed my attention from the first page, I couldn’t keep my eyes open long enough to finish it. I couldn’t wait to get back to reading it when I awoke.
4) A great whodunit mystery! There were plenty of red-herrings that kept me guessing until the big reveal. I had a totally different suspect in mind.
5) It is part of the Kindle Unlimited Library.
6) It is part of a series.

This was a good book. I still get frustrated when the main character(s) try to investigate a murder against the strong warnings of law enforcement. It’s a popular plot device but I still don’t like it. One more book in this series. Let’s see how that goes.

Amazon synopsis:

Trixie Pristine, owner of Read Wine Bookstore, heads to a 4-day Women in Business Conference hosted by Cassandra Collins, motivational speaker and the owner of a matchmaker service.

When the conference starts off with Cassandra dropping dead on stage, Trixie is ready to find out what happened to the seemingly healthy marriage broker.

Good thing she’s met Presley Thurman and Tillie Moore at the conference. She knows she can count on these new friends to help her investigate.

Can the three friends solve the crime and learn how to win in business?

Well written, engaging cosy mystery!

Author is new to me but noted that this could be read as a standalone, so I jumped in. Will definitely read more by her.

Good pacing and level of detail. Some cosy mysteries drag for me, because the MC contrives to ask a large number of suspects the same questions over and over - the author neatly avoids this by having the MC and 2 new friends cooperate and divvy up the tasks. Also the suspect list is limited to conference attendees, which helps.

Characters are fleshed out enough to be believable. And dialogue rang true for me. About midway through the book, I was thinking that Presley should have her own series - turns out she already does! Looking forward to reading those.

Trixie is attending a conference and workshop for women business owners at a lovely resort. She's already made quick friends with Pressley and Tilly when the keynote speaker collapses right after she gets to the podium. Then word filters back that she had been killed.

Unable to just attend the conference, the new friends try to figure out who killed the speaker. It turns out that a lot of people might have wanted to and a number of them were at the hotel. As the suspects grow, Trixie takes the lead in their unofficial investigation.

This is a fun story that has a few unexpected twists and turns.

This book can be read by any reader. I recommend it.

Trixie Pristine, owner of Read Wine bookstore, is making some great new friends when she participates in a 4-day business conference for women! When the motivational speaker hosting the conference, Cassandra Collins, dies at the event, Trixie, Presley, and Tillie begin investigating the murder. Who would have wanted Cassandra dead? A competitor in her matchmaking business? A family member? Someone she offended?

This was a good cozy mystery with likable characters and a story line that flows well to keep the reader entertained as we try to figure out the murderer and motive. Grab your copy and enjoy!

This book is definitely worth 5 stars!

I very much enjoyed this book! A crossover (it’s book 6 in the Read Wine Bookstore series, but Trixie meets Presley from the Presley Thurman Mysteries, which was super nice! And also Tillie, so Trixie is making some great new friends! You could totally read this as a standalone, BTW. An amazing book! A pageturner! Three nosy ladies and a suspicious death, well, when they start investigating the murder, better watch out, lol. Trixie is the kind of person who wants to help. That’s so me.

Trixie is off to a business conference in Michigan. She meets Presley, a crossover character from another series, and Tillie who owns a bakery for dogs. Trixie is particularly excited to hear the keynote speaker as Trixie has followed Cassandra’s blog. Unfortunately, Cassandra falls ill on the stage and dies. As the ladies continue their dinner, they find out it may be murder. Trixie and her new friends try to find out the truth.

This is an enjoyable mystery and has wonderful characters. It was good to see Presley Thurman again along with Trixie.

Trixie, Tillie and Presley meet at a conference welcome night and become friends. The next day, the host speaker dies on the stage and shortly after, her replacement also dies. Now these three are up for solving two murders and they are great at it. Loved the twists and turns, along with the banter. The characters work well together and each brings a lot to the trio. This story had me hooked from the very beginning. Well done.

This is a nice addition to the Read Wine Series. Trixie attends a conference geared toward female business owners and is drawn into investigating the deaths of two of the conference presenters. Who hated them both enough to want them dead? Are the deaths linked? Did the same person kill them both? Trixie and her new friends, Presley and Tillie, began sleuthing to find out.

I was provided an ARC by the author.

Trixie meets Presley and Tillie at the conference that Cassandra Collins, a motivational speaker is a headliner for. They hope to find ways to improve their businesses to be successful but on the very first day, Cassandra collapses and is later pronounced dead at the hospital. The police say her death is suspicious and tell everyone to stay at the conference. Trixie and her newfound friends look into her death, and boy do they uncover some things! Who killed ThemWhen Trixie meets Presley and Tillie at the conference, she knows she’s found some lifelong friends. But will those new friends help her find out who killed Cassandra Collins after she drops dead on stage. Who killed Cassandra and did the same person kill Susan? Well it wasn't the same person but two different murderers. The amateur sleuths stumbled into the answers.

Dunes and Dead Bodies

Trixie is at a six day women’s business conference hoping to gain a great deal of information for building her business at Read Wine. The conference starts out with the death of the guest speaker. A must read to find out the circumstances of the death. Another great read in this series.

Trixie needs to address abuse. She walks around the issue in this chapter of her life. Going to a Conference is fun and while Trixie went sleuthing she had a fun time there and learned some great things about being a business owner. Who would have thought to tell a story to sell your product, great info

Trixie Pristine, co-owner of the Read Wine Bookstore, is heading to a business conference and is meeting new friends. For us avid readers of L.C. Turner books it is a lovely surprise, that Presley Thurman from Boutique Silk and new business woman and pet baker Tillie Moore attend as well. Cassandra Collins is hosting the event but after being on stage for mere minutes she is taken till and subsequently dies.

The 3 ladies and new friends are nosy (in a good way) and work hard to get to the bottom of the professional matchmakers demise.
