So heart warming and classic!
Cute story about numbers with simple, colorful illustrations. My only problem with this book is the rhyme--reading it out loud, it's hard to find a rhythm to it, so it just feels awkward a lot of the time.
Cute, but the message is a little exclusionary. Poor little 1 really goes through quite a rigmarole before little 1 finally finds a friend in number 0. I think this book's message might make a child feel overly cautions when approaching groups of other children playing.
I thought I already reviewed this, but I guess I didn't, and I can't really remember much to say much about it. It didn't make an impression on me. The idea of little 1/little one was sort of cute and sweet, but I'm not that into the number metaphor thing.
SO GREAT! We have really been working on numbers around here since Logan has developed an interest in time, etc. This book is great-great pictures, great numbers, a little addition too.
i love the look of this book. originally published in the 60's, i love the illustrations and the color blocking. the story is a little bit sad but a good counting book for kids.
