Hannah Hickok #7

Haunt 'Em High

Rate this book
Now that she’s absorbed the power of the Casper Creek nexus, Hannah Hickok is a witch on a mission. Her new powers require regular venting, and she’s surpassed even her limited expectations. It’s not magic on her mind when her father comes for a visit, though.

Brad Hickok has always wanted to see Casper Creek, and now that he gets to visit, he’s extremely excited. He’s not alone, though. He’s brought his new girlfriend … and Hannah is thrown for a loop by her appearance.

What’s supposed to be a simple visit spirals out of control when a local witch who has been admitted to the hospital calls for Hannah to give a warning, an FBI agent shows up asking questions, and enemy Astra loses her mind and attacks Hannah in the middle of Casper Creek before fleeing.

Hannah has her hands full, and it’s not all fun and games this go-around. She’s going to need everybody working together to come out the other side … and even then the outcome isn’t set in stone.

Hannah is a witch with a plan. How successful she’ll be is anybody’s guess.

Extraordinarily entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series

Extraordinarily entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. An outstanding cast of characters and an exceptionally entertaining storyline. Hannah Hickok inherited a wild west cosplay town on the top of a mountain in Kentucky from her grandmother when she passed away. Hannah was at a point in her life where she needed a change of scenery post haste when she got the letter letting her know that her grandmother had passed away and that she inherited it. So Hannah and her dog packed up and left Michigan for Kentucky. Hannah did not even know her grandmother as her mother and grandmother had drifted apart before she was born. Her mother passed away many years ago and she grew up with her father. Once she arrived in Casper Creek the small old West town. She’s over at in meeting all the people that work there and the few who live there and begin learning the ropes. Very soon afterward she found out that she was actually a witch and had inherited the powers from her grandmother. As time goes on she begins to realize she is a powerful witch and part of the reason is because her old west town sits on a nexus of power. That same nexus of power also draws in other magical people and creatures wanting to do evil and acquire the power though. So we Don and find out all of the adventures that Hannah and her boyfriend Cooper and the rest of the gang at Casper creek run into and must solve. Extraordinarily entertaining action packed and fun to read.

Family, truth and trust

Hannah's father Brad is visiting and she's been hiding her witch heritage from him. Cooper is keen on her telling Brad, especially now she's absorbed the power of the Nexus, and there being no secrets between them but Brad has his own secret.. Monica!

FBI Agent Schiller is also visiting, claiming that Cooper, Hannah and Boone are lying about the situation with Angel and declaring that he's not leaving until he has the truth putting everyone on edge.

Stormy, having been sacked by Astra, is roaming around town when she is brutally attacked, rushed to hospital she refuses treatment until she speaks to Hannah. She provides Hannah with a warning "she's coming for you" before dying on the operating table but witnesses to the attack all state that it was a man who stabbed Stormy.

And to cap it all Astra is acting weird.. well weirder than normal for Astra! Turning up, stinking, in the same clothes she wore when the Nexus was breached two weeks ago. She threatens Hannah and now Hannah's secret is revealed.

Can she work out who is trying to steal her power and put an end to it all without anyone else getting hurt?

Talk about having a dilemma. Her father is coming to visit, which is fine with the exception that Hannah doesn't want to tell her father that she is a witch. Unfortunately, for all concerned, that is not how it all played out. While trying to have a peaceful dinner with her father, the truth of the whole situation comes tumbling out and she is on a speeding train to disaster. What to do with herself. She has been warned that "She" is coming after her and strange things keep happening.

I didn't blame Hannah for suspecting her father's girlfriend because things just weren't adding up. Especially when she finds they came down early than they claimed. When all was said and done Hannah knocked it out of the park. Her father approved of the man she was in love with and even gave his blessings to them to get married even if he felt it was too soon. Conner on the other hand rather die one way or another for Hannah and didn't think so as well even though in the beginning his mind refused to relinquish to what his internal parts thought.

Too repetitious

The author keeps doing the same things over and over in all of her books. Cooper gently ticks a hair behind Hannah’s ear, Cooper says you can’t go to the creek, Cooper wants to protect Hannah, the word taken aback was used way too many times. She is going to wear that word out, etc!
Also, don’t these people ever cook? It’s always take-out. The author needs to be more creative in her stories. The books are getting repetitive. This is the 2nd book in which the FBI agent has been the bad guy. The stories are becoming boring. I don’t know that I will read any more of her books at all.

Cannot wait to return to Casper Creek!

Hannah seems to have gotten an extra measure of backbone along with the nexus —and it's great! The mystery is thoroughly engrossing, and I love the tight-knit core characters; however, a new addition still bears watching (what exactly was the purpose of that unnecessary lie?!), and now the length of the hidden relationship is exposed... Between being warned that "La fin est proche" and an apocalypse is coming, I wonder if things are quite as settled as Hannah and Cooper think they are...

All 7 books

The series is funny, good characters, good story lines, but it's just good, good enough to look forward to the next book, but not brilliant. The talking between characters, especially Hannah and Cooper, trailed on too long, going on n on n onion about how who feels etc etc. Book 7 began, and began and strangley had a sudden end, no build up, no who or what is the buddy, just "oh, is that it" huh... I will read no8 when out

Great series!!

This is a fun series that takes place in a cosplay western themed town. Hannah is a fairly new witch trying to balance running the town and learning her craft Her friends and family help her along the way. I definitely recommend this series, but it should be read from the beginning. I can’t wait for the next book!

A lot of fun

All of the stories this author writes are entertaining and I drop everything else when a new one comes out. Hannah grows up a lot and acts way more mature in this one. Cooper isn’t so overbearing and I like where their relationship is going. The mystery was good like always!

Showdown at Casper Creek

Another great entry in the world of Hannah Hickok. Hannah has to deal with the fallout from the last book and her father's visit. He isn't aware of her new found abilities and it's easy to see where she gets her wit from. And, of course, there's Jinx and the goats!

Excellent

At the risk of repeating myself, Amanda can spin a fine tale. This story ties up nicely and I loved it! I recommend buying the entire series and reading it as one. Amanda does not go for the frustrating cliff hangers but the overall story is more satisfying as one read.

You will be smiling

By the time you reach the last page, I promise you will be smiling from ear to ear. It's fun to watch Hannah grow and evolve as a character. The romance is always on point with some snark thrown in for good measure. Anytime you read a book by this author you know you will habe a good time and end the book with a smile. Thank you for another adventure.

Excellent

Hannah is already nervous about her dad coming to town, then Stormy is taken out and all Hannah is left with is the threat that "she" is coming for Hannah. Astra is acting all sorts of crazy and Brad along with Monica find out the real truth of what Hannah really is. Can they make it through all this craziness going on? Another great read!

The men in Hannah's life all finally meet just in time for more evil to descend on Casper Creek. I love that Hannah is able to show the guys she's capable of taking care of everything.

I think this might have been the best one yet! Hannah is finally gaining some confidence and Cooper is finally trusting her to take care of herself. I cannot wait to see what AML/LHH has in store for these characters now that they have got the feet under them.

Great Story

I really enjoyed this book. Seeing how Cooper dealt with meeting Hannah’s dad was fun to read about. I was surprised about who the bad guy was and that always makes a book fun!

Called out to the middle of the street like a common gun slinger, how gauche! Hannah shows her true nature and keeps everyone safe.
But yet...
Why is there an FBI Agent sniffing around
And O.M.G. her Dad is coming to visit!

Love all of the Lily Harper Hart/Amanda M Lee books, but hate when there is a major storyline flaw. I’m this case, it was a lack of continuity between this and the previous book. Certainly won’t stop me from reading them though!

Climaxes are too fast

I expect that may be how it goes in real life, but there's a whole book of !mysteries and clues, and red herrings then the climax comes, and in four or five paragraphs it's all over. It's strange pacing.

Good read

Book 7 finds another evil person shows up to drain Hannah of the Nexis. Two other witches are attcked, a murder, and a warning. And Hannah's father shows up with a surprise. There is humor, danger, angst, magic, and love. Highly entertaining.

The villian of the story was not who I thought it would be so nice twist. Hannah needs to get a handle on her new powers and learn about controlling said powers. First she has to get thru the visit from her father. Enjoyable read
