Wow. That took a while to get through. It was written more for the public school setting so a lot didn't apply to our situation but I still learned so much. I wish there would have been more concrete strategies for learning. Most of it was geared more towards behaviors in the school setting. The key takeaways for me are to focus on social-emotional skills over academics, behaviors are biological not intentional. The difference between FASD and early childhood complex trauma is negligible. They can have essentially the same impact on brain development. The key to helping these individuals reach their potential is through safe, compassionate relationships.
