*I actually read this one December last year, and only able to post my review today, lol.
If you’ve read my updates on my social media account or in this blog, I’m sure you know how obsessed I was with villainess stories last year. It was crazy how I scouted every online reading site I could find, lol.
I remember seeing this manhwa, Beware the Villainess earlier and maybe read a few chapters but for some reason I wasn’t able to finish it. If I wasn’t able to see it in my recommendation, I would probably forget to read it again. And that would be bad! I can’t believe I almost skipped this masterpiece.
Beware the villainess is a story of a modern college student that transmigrated to a character in a novel. It’s not just an ordinary character, but as the story’s villainess, Melissa Foddebrat. Melissa’s end isn’t the worst since she didn’t die, but our MC still doesn’t like to end up like her. So her plan after waking up as Melissa is to live lavishly as a duke’s daughter. Meaning, she won’t do villainess acts like in the novel anymore and to also annul her engagement with the crown prince.
Contrary to what she expected, her plan didn’t work smoothly. Instead of not being involved, she ended up helping the female lead not to end up with any of the four sh*tty male leads and intends to throw them all out of her life.
I absolutely love this story. It’s interesting how the “villainess” helps out the female lead and in return they become really good friends. I love that this story has the right combination of romance, action and friendship. This story was labeled as romance, so I didn’t expect it would also contain lots of action. I love romance, but I love how Beware the Villainess didn’t rely heavily on that aspect but gave us more.
I think another reason why I also enjoyed this manhwa was because of the narration. It was clear and the execution of lines and changing of scenes were done smoothly. What else would you need eh?
This story wouldn’t be a big hit for me without its characters. I absolutely adore the MC. She’s a tough cookie and I love how cool she is. Unlike other MCs, she’s not very feminine and she talks roughly especially when she’s pissed. Aside from that, she’s also very hilarious, lol. I just love how playful she could get. She also doesn’t give a f*ck what others think about her especially since she’s a well-known villainess in the original story. The ML on the other hand is super cute, and has a very soft and likable personality. Which I think compliments well on the very strong personality of the MC. He may look soft, but this guy can also look cool when the situation calls for it, *wink.
Aside from that, this story also has some really interesting side characters that I’m sure will make you laugh and relate to. Aside from the sh*tty male leads, I think this story has a great line-up of characters.
Another thing I like about manhwa is the side stories! Now that the main story has ended, it’s great to see a glimpse of the side characters especially in their love story. It’s just soooo cute!
If you’re looking for a villainess story with a twist, I highly recommend Beware the Villainess. Hope you’ll give it a try!
Logging S2 through chapter 80, read digitally and hope to purchase when it's physical copy come out.
I'm still really enjoying this story! It's making me sad because I don't know if I'll be able to find another manhwa with a female character that's this strong and this resistant to the awful behaviors of the male characters in her series. I love that the male love interest for her is respectful of her autonomy and treats her like an actual person. I love how much Nine wants to protect her and how much he cares about her.
I love that there's other female characters who play a significant role here and that it never devolves into unnecessary, petty fights over men. Yona is a total badass and I love her love of money. I hope we get even more of her story. I love Yuri and how protective she is over Melissa and how much they help each other whenever one of them starts to doubt themselves.
I love seeing Melissa resistance to awful behavior of the male "leads" has actually led them to look within themselves and try to improve on their behaviors. Minus Peacock, of course, but I have enjoyed seeing Ian, Jake, and Jack slowly try to become productive members of society. If this wraps up without any triangle BS, this will be my all time favorite manhwa. Melissa is already my all time favorite manhwa female lead.

I can't remember how many times I laugh at her reactions. Dude, this one is very very very good. EXCELLENT! AHHH I love this isekai manhwa. No boring moments, plus action packed! And the FL? Lord, she's a badass villain. It's just a title by the way. lol. She's soft but hard at the same time with lecturing the reverse harem ML of the original novel lol. Was so confused with the first chapter with that fact.
The drawing is immaculate. And her facial reactions? meme worthy. LOL. A lot of online reader for this manhwa loves her. including me. Like for one second too I thought this is a YURI manhwa hahahaha. online peeps was calling her MOMMY. Huy! Mommy, step on me. HAHAHAHAHA. I thoroughly enjoyed the manhwa that's why I finished it in a day or two. HAHAHAHAHA.
I like how badass the female character is, but I admit that the other characters are so boring, except for Yona. The loveline between Nine and Melissa is not that memorable, because the story just focused on Melissa and her life as a Villainess. Other than that, no other things that happened in this manhwa was memorable.
Excuse me, I thought this was a comedy?? I'm supposed to being crying tears of laughter, not actual tears 😭 I didn't expect the side stories to get so dark... I just want everyone to be happy 🥺 (In all fairness, the sad moments were balanced with the meme-worthy ones!) While I'm sad to say goodbye to the characters that have crept into my heart, I'm satisfied with where we leave them and I thoroughly enjoyed the journey!
