A lost culture. A vicious trap. A mystical lair. Tom Wagner, archaeologist Hellen de Mey and gentleman crook Francois Cloutard are about to embark on their first official assignment from Blue Shield – but when Tom receives an urgent call from the Vatican, things start to move quickly. With the help of the Russian Orthodox Patriarch, they discover clues to an age-old myth: the Russian Atlantis. And a murderous race to find an ancient, long-lost relic leads them from Cuba to the Russian hinterlands. What mystical treasure lies buried beneath Nizhny Novgorod? Who laid the evil trap? And what does it all have to do with Tom’s grandfather?
This series has started to irritate. I enjoyed the first book, at least enough to come back for more. Somewhere in the second I started to get mildly irritated and by three quarters of the way through this one I almost didn’t finish, they are very formulaic. I have just read the bios of the authors and these are very definitely written with film/TV in mind. For now I will give them a rest and possibly return when I’ve forgotten how irritated I am with the trio of hero’s and their skin of the teeth escapes.
As usual you have to be ready for this adventure, Tom Helena and the other members of the team are given a run for their lives and they spin the enemy into a tizzy. As usual every one wants Tom dead and gone but he keeps them all on their toes as he escapes and fools them every time even when you think it's impossible. A recommend book of excitement thrills and plenty of spills
Took me a day and not a whole day to read this adventure novel. Talk about a fast read. This story is lightning fast, I mean 1 minute chapters. It’s action packed, funny, engaging characters and some Russian history thrown in. I’m three novels and one novella in and already this is a favourite series. You want some popcorn summer movie entertainment? Dig in!
I really like these archeological thrillers and this one is no exception. The non-stop action and adventure never slows down. The characters are strong and easy to identify with. I really like this book and I highly recommend it.
I felt this novel was quite exciting and even informative.... Look forward to reading more. This is a good series of novels and would even make a good film.
