Thirty years ago, Xevius defied his orders by refusing to assassinate the woman who would birth the future mother of the Veredian Titans. Today, his government demands that he atones for that failure by ridding the world of those children before they grow even more powerful. While on that mission, he feels the pull of the Tuning—the psionic call of his true mate. To complicate matters, his woman turns out to be the military leader and protector of the Veredians.
With tension rising between her people and the Xelixians, the last thing Kamala needs is a Korlethean assassin hunting the Veredian children. Attempting to eliminate him first should be an easy decision, except for the fact that he’s her soulmate. Swaying him to their side could be the key to solving many of their problems, but at what cost to him and his people?
As dire visions and prophecies multiply, Xevius is torn between his conscience, loyalty to his people, and his love for the woman who has captured his heart.

Korletheans and their fates are fascinating! I was intrigued at the idea of a Korlethean assassin being the soulmate of a Veredian woman. Considering that she herself and the Veredian children she helps protect are among his targets, it won’t be simple! The more I read about Xevius, the more I admire him. He investigates and observes before he makes critical decisions regarding the lives of others. When he finds his true love, he gives her all he can. The Titan children fascinate me. There’s such incredible potential there. I hope at some point we will see them as adults. Meanwhile, they continue growing into their skills, with expert help and a lot of love. I loved seeing the Braxians more involved in this story, especially Krygor, Anton’s father. There are so many exciting things happening, your head will spin! New alliances made, life-changing discoveries, secrets revealed, families reunited, questions answered, and a delicious romance. A deeply satisfying end to this story!
This is the much much anticipated finale of the Veredian Series by Regine Abel. To enjoy this series to its fullest and to ensure you know what is going on...because this is a thick juicy steak of a series that is filled to the brim with plot....and this book is no different...you must read the other books in the series!!
Consider this your warning!! NO SPOILERS will be found here!
From the moment I started reading this series I loved it. Filled with masses and masses of world building that continued to develop and expand as the series grew, evolving and creating new worlds and real to life characters that individually stole my heart ( Ghan me baby! ) and my head. Making this one of my all time favourite sci fi reads ever!! So it was with a somewhat heavy heart that I read that this was the final book in the series. I honestly didn't know how it was going to end but I put my trust and faith in the wonderful author and found myself falling in love with this series all over again.
Picking up a few years after book 4, I was transported back, revisiting old friends and watching them battle again.. this time not only for their freedom, their friends and their families but for their children. It was bloodthirsty, emotionally heart wrenching and filled with asskicking warrior women and their wonderful men.
The main focus in this book being the fantastic Kamala and her intended mate Xevius. Their conflict was a wonderful dance of pleasure and pain and their chemistry was scorching🔥🔥 This was ( like the others in the series) an emotional read and my eyes did fill up on a number of occasions....not just over the joy of reading about my wonderful book husband ( he's had a promotion 🤣🤣🤣 ) Gahn, along with many other beloved characters from the other books. Putting it mildly...I adored this book...it's a shining example of what a fantastic sci fi romance read should be, and a truly wonderful way to finish this series.
Wow, I really liked this book. It’s wonderfully written. And I’ve had a great time reading it. There are many characters but in this one the beautiful and steamy romance between the two main characters is guiding us through the story and letting us know about their links with the other characters.
Kamala is an awesome female character, strong, powerful and with a pretty good heart too. Well, beautiful is always nice too. She can totally fight and finds her perfect match to share her life. He’s hot, strong and powerful like her. But from a different place with different beliefs. They have a dangerous and very complicated path ahead if they want to be together.
This final book is close to perfection as how a series should be finished. Everything falls into place like a puzzle. The whole story makes perfect sense and is very enjoyable. It’s clearly a hard work to put everything together in the end this author has made an awesome job. The evolution of the characters, their growing and how everything turns out is amazing and so good. I loved it and I totally recommend this series and especially this title.
*I voluntarily reviewed this book for an honest review*
My favorite book of this series. Old characters are revisited. New characters are introduced. Unanswered questions are answered. The future of the Titans is promising. Readers of this series will love this book. A big 👍 for me!
I loved the story. I think it was great that the Veridians stood up for themselves and left the planet. The government should have done more to protect them and punish those who were discriminating. I was not surprised they were prejudice based on the way they treated the poor tainted. I'm so glad they got their cure! Now all the rich can't exploit them for cheap labor.
I also loved seeing the old characters. Ghan being jealous of Revik was hilarious. How Mercy kept Revik in line (him willingly giving in. ♡) Gavin and Zharina- sooo sweet (the kids). Can't wait for their book! I am still in love with Lohr and Khel. Esp Lohr.
The one thing I did not like, was the hero kept secrets from the heroine. She was his soulmate and he should have trusted her. He was also too blindly following prophets; willing to give up and just keel over and die. He should have confided in her. Being that he traveled and saw other cultures, he should have had more sensibility and less blindness to his culture sooner. He recorded tons of videos for his dtr but none for his wife? He refused to confide in her and she just forgave him. Would he be so open to such a deep deception? Nope. He would want to know.
In addition, I still can't forgive Gruuk and how Maheva still loved him.. It's ok for Gruuk to have his grunts rape TONS of women and have her heal them.. Its ok to sell women and children to horrible, abusive, rapist slavers?? And, for her to purposely keep a distance from them to alleviate her guilt?? I'm sorry but - no bitch, not cool.. Or how Mercy and Amelia in some ways forgave Gruuk and Varrek. Rapist encouraging/enabling, slave trading assholes of their family and other innocents don't deserve their love! Maheva punished Sunam but enabled and loved Gruuk!!! PISSES ME OFF
I still loved the book but ABSOLUTELY detest Maheva. I also do not like some of the dtrs being 'somewhat' accepting of their monstrous dad and brother's actions... somethings you can't forgive.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
IT WAS SAD TO SEE THIS END, ALTHOUGH I DO HOPE THERE MAY BE MORE FOR THE VEREDIANS BECAUSE AFTER THE ENDING OF THIS BOOK....THERE WERE JUST SO MUCH MORE POSSIBILITIES TO EXPLORE ESPECIALLY WITH THE KORLETHEANS.
BE MINDFUL, if you haven't read Amalia's story or like me started off with Valena's, then you'll miss out the whole political uprising and shifting that has been happening since the first book. Reading it all will make you feel more appreciative and attuned to everything that's going on. In other words, you won't feel so LOST & and DAMN you will fall in love with the intricate world building going on.
HERO is a trained assassin for the Korlethean government and he's highly skilled, also of similar age of to Eyron. They were quite close friends before Eyron's exile. When sent to assassinate the Titans (aka Children with untold powers born from Veredians and Xelixeans), he wavers. It's a glaring truth about his personality when once upon a time, he spared Sevina from being killed (by him anyway). When he encounters the children during his recon mission, their treatment of him leaves him puzzled and questioning the sanity and righteousness of his actions. Meeting his soulmate will throw in him for a final loop. It's easy to like and respect Xevius. As a mature male, he's held great responsibilities and perhaps some personal failings, but he upholds a strong belief of right and wrong. Although it can be tainted by his conditioned doctrines practiced by the Korletheans who fear the Titans. Meeting Kamala and the children will change his perspective irrevocably and pull him to their side, which is a great bonus for the Veredians.
HEROINE we've met in Aleina's story and I'm glad she finally gets her story. Previously she's been in a relationship with Sohr, but both decided to part and wait for their soulmates instead. Imagine her surprise when Khel's daughter tells her who he is - the assassin sent to kill the children. Their attraction was cosmic as can be expected of a fated couple, but Kamala doesn't let it blindside her to her priorities and loyalty to her family, while at the same time try to build a relationship with Xevius, understanding his culture and him, vice versa. I have to say this one was my favourite book because it shows us how far everyone and everything has boiled down to, even watching Vahl and his siblings grow up, taking control of their powers and being trained by Eyron.
OVERALL while all the MCS's relationship start and end pretty much the same, I think what made this series a success was the continuous war between the races, the political uprising, the shift of the wind, the foretelling of prophecies and it really AWED me how the author seamlessly weaved the stories together. It all started with Maheva, and then the Xelixians, then the Tuurean's and then the final ingredient were the Korletheans...the instigator of everything. It's hard to explain these 5 books in a single paragraph but I grew attached to the characters where their camaraderie was concerned and of course the special Titan children.
What I Loved most was their loyalty to family and their motto of 'Hurt one of us, and You'll Get all of Us'.
Amount of sex 3.5 / 5 How explicit are the sex scenes 3.5 / 5 Story 4.5 / 5 Overall: 4.5 / 5
Another incredible book written by author Regine Abel! The Veredian Chronicles is one of my favorite Sci-fi series, and I always look forward to the next story. Hands of Fate is the fifth book in the series, and even though each book focuses on a different couple, I recommend reading the series from the beginning. It will give you a better foundation to fully understand and appreciate the storyline. The characters from the earlier books often appear and play a part in the story, which may confuse those that haven’t read their books.
Hands of Fate tells the story of Kamala and Xevius. In this story, Xevius was hired by the Korlethean governing people to kill the Veredian Titans. Most are afraid of their power, but Xevius wasn’t convinced that they were dangerous. While he was spying on the kids, Xevius sensed Kamala as she walked outside. The two felt an instant connection, realizing that they are fated mates. Xevius now has to decide what to do. Follow the orders to assassinate or listen to his body and accept his mate.
Another fabulous story! I was hooked from the very beginning and can’t wait for the next in the series!
Oh, MAN, this was such a satisfying conclusion to the Veredians' story. It started with Amalia and wound through the surviving members of her family and came full circle by giving the assassin who defied orders all those years ago to let Amalia's mother live find his special someone.
That his special lady friend is Kamala isn't shocking. She's strong enough to have his back in a fight and not willing to back down against anyone or thing that threatens her family. Honestly, it's probably very good that Xevius had a cooler head than the leaders of his people and chose to observe his targets instead of blindly eliminating them. Because if he had hurt the Veredian children, I'm pretty sure there'd be no coming back from that.
For him or for her.
I not only enjoyed Xevius and Kamala's relationship (Xevius making vids for future children killlllled me, btw), but I loved loved loved how all the dangling threads to the Veredians' story played out. From an enslaved race of breeders to free women who found their place in the universe, Amalia and all the others made changes that affected many. And I genuinely enjoyed every moment of their story.
Generally I would have up-rated this book to a four because I enjoyed it so much, but I had to go in reverse because it seriously needs another run through by a copy editor.
Also, I felt like I missed a story or two when it came to Mercy and the Braxians.
Otherwise this was scifi romance as I have come to expect from Regine Abel. I did skim over some of the sex, not because it was bad but because romances often have more sex between the pages than can hold my attention. I like having some adult times in my fiction but I do get bored pretty quickly with it.
I like this series well enough to continue reading it and am hopeful for where the story will go as the children mature. This one actually felt a bit like a series ending due to many of the longer arcs getting closed up (and quite well, too). But it feels like the story will continue with the children and I'm looking forward to it.
So excited to delve back in this world. The world building is so imaginative. Absolutely FLOVE Xevius!! Kamela is a kick a$$ heroine!!! Love the little Titans and I am so stoked to see what is in store for these little kids!! Can’t wait to see who Vahleryon mates with. Is that weird? He’s 5 LOL! OH Lord the emotions in this book! I went through them. The Titans are going to change that world and I want to read about it. So great that other characters made cameos!! Love those Braxians. I highly recommend this series and anything this author writes!
Xevius is an assassin that didn't do as his government wanted 30 years ago. He was supposed to kill the woman who would be the mother of the future Veridian titans. Now his people want him to kill the titan children before they get grown. He meets the woman who is his mate at the wrong place and time. Kamala turns out to be the woman protecting the titan children and his mate. The twists and turns in this world are so fascinating and keep you wanting to read more. A great read and series!
I received a copy of this book and am leaving a review.
This is truly an amazing story. At anytime the author could of stopped and said this is the end. But no, instead of good story she gave us great. I fell in love with the characters and especially the children. Imagine a race that makes all their decisions on what oracles and seers say. Chaos should be everywhere but the race finds a way to become more. But in doing so they have subjected other races to almost extinction. The story gets very in-depth and things are explained wonderfully. You have so many heroes in this and the bad guys may not always be who you think they are.
I'm so behind in this series so I will definitely recommend reading from the beginning of the Veredian Chronicles since it seems that some of the characters from previous books are involve in this story. But even for me being lost in some of this world. Xevius and Kamala was a wonderful reading but I'm still looking forward for more of this world maybe knowing of the new generation what will become of them who will find their soulmates there is still so much to know of this world.
X. and K. Are a wonderful couple. Loved the story and how it unfolded. The title is apt to the tale and mimics how it travels at the whims of fate and the people’s choices. The last chapters were wonderful and I loved the wrap of the main characters. Can not wait until the children are grown and the new generation pairings come about. Would love to see some of them go back to some of their ancestors (fathers) land and settle their.
I love me a good space opera. Amazing cast of characters. Stunning world building. Hot romances between wildly different types of people. Whew what a great adventure
I loved this series. The author is magnificent and creative. What a pleasant surprise! She knows how to mix wonderful characters with an amazing story. Well done Regine!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Hands of Fate by Regine Abel is a masterful conclusion to the Veredian Chronicles, blending tension, romance, and heart-pounding action in a way that will leave readers utterly satisfied. This book takes us on an emotional and thrilling journey with Xevius, a Korlethean assassin who is ordered to kill the Veredian children but finds himself drawn to Kamala, a strong and capable military leader who happens to be his soulmate. The complexities of their relationship, particularly given their opposing roles, create a dramatic and intense dynamic that keeps you hooked from beginning to end. Xevius is a fascinating character—ruthless yet honorable, and his internal conflict between loyalty to his people and his undeniable love for Kamala is beautifully portrayed. His careful observations and slow-burn romance with Kamala allow their relationship to develop naturally, making the emotional payoff that much more rewarding. Kamala herself is an excellent heroine—powerful, compassionate, and unyielding in her determination to protect the Veredians. Together, they make an unforgettable pair, their romance tempered by their difficult circumstances. The world-building in this installment is just as impressive as ever. The tension between the Korletheans and the Veredians is palpable, and the underlying political intrigue adds layers of depth to the story. There are plenty of twists and revelations that keep the reader on edge, and the stakes are higher than ever as Xevius and Kamala navigate their personal and political struggles. The involvement of the Titan children, and the promises of their potential, adds another layer of intrigue to the narrative. The conclusion of the series is incredibly satisfying. The author skillfully ties up loose ends and brings the characters’ arcs to a fulfilling resolution, while leaving room for further exploration in this rich world. The romance, action, and plot all converge beautifully in a story that feels both epic and intimate. Hands of Fate is a fitting end to an extraordinary saga, and it's a must-read for fans of the series.
This is another epic installment in the Veredian/Braxian Chronicles. It is the fifth book in the Veredian Chronicles, but the seventh if read in the author’s suggested reading order. The story is complicated and definitely best enjoyed in that order.
This book follows FMC Veredian Kamala and MMC Korlethean Xevius (the seer assassin from Raising Amalia) and their tuning/love story, but that is only a fraction of the plot. The main focus is on the politics between the different planets, their new hybrid children, and the implications of their emerging psi powers.
The plot is intense, and I was very grateful for the recap at the beginning since so much is happening across multiple storylines. The romance took more of a back seat, as the characters were fated mates and largely accepting of it, while the politics and space battles provided the central conflicts. I enjoyed this installment, though the complexity started to feel a bit overwhelming.
Overall an exciting read. There were some resolutions and time jumps, leaving me curious to see how the story continues. Kygor’s Hope in the Braxian series is next in the recommended reading order.
Spice: 4/5 Plot:4.5/5 Writing: 4.5/5 My Enjoyment: 4/5
This is one of those books I had to put down for a while and come back to, because the politicking was doing my head in. It’s quite heavy at the start, and not in any sort of fun way. Eventually the couple’s story picks up, but it is still a heavily political story. It’s set a few years after the last one, and we get some big reveals about the universe and Korletheans and a lot happen on a planet/galaxy sized scale. All the offspring are getting bigger and doing remarkable things and the adults from previous books are sort of just becoming babysitters. Turns out there’s also a side character story in the Braxian universe too, because Mercy shows up married with kids in this one. I didn’t really feel the connection between the MCs because they speak to each other once and then go all in because of the Tuning. They barely even interact before they’re mated. Fate and prophecies play a big role in this one, and there’s some nice surprises and complications that arise. Plenty of new characters are added, and it ends on a giant scale for future developments. I enjoyed it once it got going, but that slow start was brutal.
There comes a time when Xevius, Korlethean agent extraordinaire, must choose: loyal obedience or his conscience. There comes a time when fierce Veredian commander Kamala must choose: justified vengeance or trust. All of Veredia, all of Xelix Prime, all of Korlethia - the choices of these planets will reshape the galaxy. Devious and Kamala lead by their choice to honor their fated love above their governments, their traditions, their assigned roles, and the expectations of others. The romance sizzles, the tension escalates, the battles rage, and this engrossing tale brings the series to a thoroughly satisfying climax.
Xevius and Kamala are a wonderful couple. They are both self-sacrificing in ways to make their people better. This book brings so many people together and also tears some apart. We see pretty much every couple that has ever been a part of this series. It seems to bring things to a close in one way but opens up several new directions for future books. The Veredians are my favorite books from this author. Give them a try and you will fall in love with all of them as much as I have.
Kamila finds love, this one kind of is the end there is another book but the storyline has unfolded. I'm kind of upset in the first book it was kelu and his gem hoping to find a mate to save there lands and delay the taint.but going to haven? I was kind of disappointment all the family history. Also I haven't read the other series yet (3books) with mercy so I got a spoiler shock in this one I think Grace is book one she was in this series also.
Poor nana I would of snapped too.
Not sure if there is a 20 years later series with the kids taken the leads.
Each book gets better and better. The titsn children are amazing. The parents are handling it well and the shocker was the Korletheans going to the level of deceit to get rid of anyone who does not believe in their fate. Kamala and Xevius handled their mating/tuning very well considering they were enemies as he was an assassin after her family. Loved the Braxians are welcomed to the fold of Veridian females and Xelixians males. The plot continues from the books I am reading in order. Beautiful intimate scenes, great descriptions of the technology and different people.
