For more than a decade, the Human Planetary Alliance and their Daklan allies have readied themselves for a war against a mysterious alien species known as Kilvar - a species which has so far remained in the celestial shadows.
Until now.
A technological breakthrough on a remote alliance world brings the attack. The enemy warships are seemingly invulnerable and able to act with impunity, killing and destroying at will. Billions of lives are at risk, along with the new technology the Kilvar have come to steal.
Against this opponent, the years of preparation seem useless. And yet…the alliance military has plenty of veterans who never learned how to give up.
Lieutenant James Vance – a soldier of many past conflicts - thinks he’s seen the worst of the universe. The Kilvar will prove him wrong.
Captain William Flint – his heavy cruiser Loadout is about to come face-to-face with an enemy he can’t possibly overcome.
Fleet Admiral Carl Recker is the most decorated officer in the alliance. All his experience may not be enough to handle what lies ahead.
Hardened by years on the frontline and endless past conflicts, humanity and the Daklan must figure out a way to defeat the Kilvar. The solution will, perhaps, be far more deadly than the enemy. With new technology comes new risks, and what the alliance has discovered may well be the most terrible weapon of all.
Dark of the Void is a traditional-style science fiction action adventure and the first in the Forged Alliance series. Inside this book, a reader will find space combat, ground combat, ruthless aliens, incredible tech and lots more.
Author’s Note: Forged Alliance is set twelve years after the Savage Stars series of books. Dark of the Void is welcoming to new readers, with no requirement to read the first series, but if you want to learn the history of this universe, by all means start with the Savage Stars Book 1: War from a Distant Sun.
Anthony James spent his youth reading what might now be called classic sci-fi and fantasy books. These days, he spends time in his study with the door locked against rampant and ferocious toddlers, writing books of his own.
That's the third person stuff out of the way.
For anyone who's read any of my books, you'll know that I write action science fiction that pulls no punches and which doesn't cram the good stuff into the last couple of chapters. The action starts early and it doesn't let up. I also take care to mix in plenty of humanity. The characters I write are all distinctly believable, often facing uncaring enemies and overwhelming odds. When they win, it's because they did their best.
Go on. Punch an alien today. Better yet, check out my series of books, each one filled with action, technology, warfare, aliens and against-the-odds survival. Lots of kick-back-and-enjoy weekend or evening reading.
Wow, this is a continuation of the last set of books I just finished, set 12 years in the future. Great premise, great action... loved it! Highly recommended!
The first book in the second series of Recker was exciting. Problem is, these "forged Alliance" books are not listed in any of the books I have read by Anthony James. It is confusing and it seems these two Forged Alliance books come before "...NEMESIS" of the Savage stars series. I had to research to find these two gems. Something to correct, otherwise, readers will be lost.
This was a decent start in the new series. The book started out slow and the story seemed to stutter for awhile. The action at the end was satisfying, but not great.
