The Seven #2

Reckless Envy

Rate this book
I’m married to a monster.
But I’m in love with a beast.

For better or for worse, till death do us part…
Those are the vows I’ve promised to uphold.
I’ll stand by those vows, even if it means enduring a living hell filled with abuse and misery.
There’s no escape, and my suffering runs deeper than the scars on my skin.
My torment seems endless, and the depression begins suffocating me like a wool blanket, scratching at the surface and burrowing deep within the fibers of my being.
Until he appears.
My mystery man.
He watches me. Follows me. Stalks me.
He descends beneath my scars and strips the despair from my bones.
With his cruel features and leather cut, my mystery man should scare me.
He comes alive from inflicting pain, from drawing blood, from death.
I should be running away from a man so ruthless, so brutal.
A man who wants to cause pain.
So, why do I end up running towards him?

ARC in exchange for honest review!!

Once again this author has taken my heart and ripped it out and put it back again. As i do with all her books i went in blind as i know whatever she writes will be a heartwrenching amazing read, and this was no different.

Katie is living in hell, her life is heartbreaking to say the least but when she briefly sees Jex its sets off a chain of events, one meeting and both of their lives would be changed for ever. Jex can't get Katie out of his head, he knows she is hiding something, something not good and he needs to find out what it is no matter what. These two had a connection like no other, two tortured souls both needing something within each other they didnt know they needed until they found each other. Theirs's is not an easy story to read, really is not for the faint hearted as it really felt like my heart hurt reading what Katie and Jex have lived through.

Once again this author has written a book that takes you right on the first page to a whirlwind of an emotional ride, this book has it all the heartbreak, the frustration, the anger, the passion, the torment, i felt all of these emotions and more. From start to finish i could not put it down until the end and then it left me in a daze for days. Bring on part 3.

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Note 2: This is a series. Although each book is a standalone, please read in order - as previous characters do make cameos.

Trigger Warnings: marital rape, domestic violence, stalking, infidelity, assault, smoking, drug use, murder, death, emotional abuse, alcohol use.

This book was also heavy like it's other book: Chaotic Wrath.

Although this book deals with a more relatable issue, closer to women in marriages now than you think: marital rape, and domestic violence.

A.R Breck captures it well - Jex's mystery heroine definitely does not have an easy marriage - that she may fake it to everyone else - even her friends. And to Jex, this seems wrong and not of his concern, but something in him refuses to give up.

Married at 18, K may look like she lives a life of luxuries in her now 2 year marriage with a big house, luxuries, a doting husband. But as they say nothing is always as it seems.

And Jex is definitely in the mood to find out why. Especially when he can't get the fiery, conventional girl outta his mind from the first time he sees her in their motorcycle club - the seven mc - still think it's the fight club - but whatever.

And when Jex finds out the truth, and rescues K - nothing is the same ever again.

A.R Breck once again manages to pull of a real world topic with gusto, emotion and strong writing - and just addicting me so very much in the process. K and Jex are both strong characters that refuse to back down from their demons, despite wanting to hide every time they see one.

The romance is scorching and sweet, the banter oh so swell, the forbiddingness of it all downright drool-worthy, and the action wowzah - not even top gun could gun for it - hehe pun intended, and just the handling of real world issues - such as marital rape, and domestic violence - which are still ignored as considered " as a husband and wife issue" - it's not always like that a--hats - that really made me wanna salute her and forever indebt myself in the favor of this book.

Loved it so damn much and yes willing to torture my vocals to shout it from every rooftop possible!

Cannot wait to read another A.R Breck book!

Until the next read,

MC romance with a twist!

The rugged motorcycle club member falls for the lawyer’s wife at first sight. Let’s just say he recognises her brokenness and together, they make a whole.

Their story is unconventional, gritty and dark, and I couldn’t get enough of the The Seven!

"𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒑𝒊𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒔, 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝑫𝒐𝒆. 𝑫𝒊𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘?"

So we don't get a definite HEA... or an epilogue? That's plain cruelty (╥﹏╥)

This book turned out to be something different in terms of the setting and plotline. With a motorcycle gang member MMC and a soft and on-the-verge-of-breaking FMC, this story absolutely did not contain anything other books with the similiar basic plotline have.

We meet Katie and Jex, two people who couldn't be more opposite, but gravitated towards each other. The bond was formed at first glance but wasn't acknowledged until later. I like how Katie's past was properly explained along with her suffocating marriage. The constant pull between Katie and Jex was great, along with the chemistry and slow burn.

𝑰 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒏.
𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒖𝒏𝒔 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒊𝒕.

The part where we see who Dane is from Katie's past literally made me say "Oh shit" out loud! Also, the eye ball scene is pretty vividly printed in my head (;ŏ﹏ŏ)
I loved the way Jex refused Katie for the tattoo, I mean howww?!! How could you say no but in such a sweet and romantic way and not acknowledge it yourself, damnn.

While the book was attention grabbing, I felt like there were a few things not fully explained... like:-
1) Why did Katie not leave sooner? I understand her being optimistic and hoping for a change but wasn't the line crossed too many times?
2) Jex's fear of riding a motorcycle. A few details are mentioned but I I wasn't thoroughly convinced.
3) Why did Jex not help Remy earlier?

Apart from this, I enjoyed reading this novel and finished it in one sitting!

Hmm, I really never learn when it comes to MC books! I always hope there’s never any scenes with other women but alas there normally is. The odd blow job scene doesn’t really bother me but….
The scene with two women that went into explicit detail was enough for me to want to throw my kindle at the wall!

I liked Chaotic Wrath but I loved Reckless Envy! 😍

Just a few things I want to (need to!) mention.
(**Possible spoilers ahead!**)
✦ To start with: I really REALLY enjoyed this story!! 🖤🥰
✦ This book is about Jex (30, the Seven MC's Treasurer, accountant, and tattoo artist) and Katie (20, Ivy's friend and married to an abusive asshole).
✦ I loved Jex!! ❤️ He was such a deliciously sick individual... a real troubled piece of work... truly a beast. Loved his violent nature and deviant behavior!
⇢ The scene with the Russian; Jex poking out his eyes and placing them in his dead hands? 🔪 That was a beautiful scene! 😁
⇢ Dealing with Katie's abusive husband: very satisfying!! 😆 (But was it necessary to force Katie to kill her husband?)
✦ I was somewhat neutral about Katie. Did not not-like her, but didn't like her either. 😶
⇢ Why didn't she leave that asshole husband sooner? She could have asked for help many times!
⇢ Why was she looking for a fight when she found out he cheated on her? She didn't care... and she must have known Dane would beat the shit out of her!
⇢ And why was Dane like he was? I really would've liked to know a little more details about their relationship.
✦ Jex's instant attraction to Katie was 'unexplainable', but in this book it worked for me.
✦ Funniest word I've read in a while: discombobulated; had to ask my good friend Google Translate what it meant! 😁
✦ I know the books and stories I read are fiction - I don't read non-fiction 🤪 - but IMO grove exaggerations are not always necessary to 'get the message across'.
A few examples?
⇢ Riding hundreds of miles (from Idaho Springs, Colorado to San Diego, California; a quick search on Google maps shows it's about 1.132 miles!) on the back of a Harley... in only a T-shirt... nothing else????? 😳 Jex, riding those miles with no shoes on his feet (luckily he managed to steal a jeans... and Katie was wearing his cut when they had to run).... in the middle of the night?? 🙄 WHY make this such a ridiculously unrealistic scene? 😲 Why not make it remotely believable?? A great story like this does NOT need ridiculous exaggerations! *eye roll*

⇢ What's with 'the broken toe'-scene? 🙄 It's a meaningless scene! The broken toe is never mentioned again! So what is the use of this information? Just to show the readers once again Jex is 'crazy'?? I think that was very clear already... from all Jex's other actions! 😅
⇢ Katie and Jex getting out of Jex's burning house, suffering severe burns and lung damage.... but still going to deal with Katie's husband before getting much needed medical attention? 😳 They had to stay in the hospital for several weeks! Adrenaline rush? It's possible... but not very realistic and too far- fetched.
✦ Appreciated that Katie didn't get pregnant right away. 👍🏻 (I was afraid that would happen because they weren't using any protection before she got on the pill)! And that they didn't adopt Jex's little brother, Remy! That would have been so cliché!! 😉
✦ And a few loose ends... of which I would've liked some closure. Like, how did Dane find them again and again, even after Katie removed the tracker??

Reckless Envy is a great addition to the series 💖 and I'm already looking forward to the next book. Read somewhere West's story is next! Can hardly wait!

★★ Thank you A.R. Breck for the ARC!!! 🥰

I’m not sure what kind of magic voodoo is in Breck’s writing but believe me when I say that every single book of hers leaves me speechless and simply incapable of writing a fully formed review!
You know the magic that some books hold, the magic where you live and breathe the story? The magic that feels like you’re the centre of the story? I have found that magic in every one of Breck’s books, she has a natural talent for writing and characters that never fail to blow me away.

I absolutely devoured Reckless Envy, to the point of not sleeping at all the night that it arrived in my Kindle Library because I simply wasn’t able to put it down and I loved every second of my journey, even the seconds that threatened to completely obliterate my heart. Jex and Katie’s story was so well written with the usual Breck special of angst, violence, darkness, oh and of course sexual tension thick enough that I was worried my Kindle screen may shatter.
I honestly still have no words for how amazing Jex is, he is a force of nature (an incredibly hot one at that), but what truly blew me away was his limitless devotion to Katie and the lengths he went to in the name of her protection. I don’t think I have ever come across character developments as extensive as those of an A.R. Breck book and the development of Katie in particular was out of this world. It was outstanding to watch Katie grow from the bruised and battered victim that she was to the strong, independent and fearless warrior that she became with the help of Jex.

I could go on for days about how amazing this book, the characters and storyline are but at the end of the day, nothing I could say would do any of it the justice that it deserves so the only thing to do is read it and find out for yourself!

Gripping and pulse racing story!

DAMN! What an amazingly gripping, gritty, raw and intensely emotional story!

Jex and Katie rip our hearts out with their gut wrenching pain and anger. They take us on one hell of a bumpy journey that will have you utterly riveted to your seat with your heart racing and your panties melting, never wanting this exhilarating story to end.

At times their story became so real and raw that it had me crying uncontrollably for them both. The intense immediate connection that they have was unexplainable other than they were meant to find each other at that exact time in their lives. They both needed that someone that their other half was crying out for in order to fight the demons in their lives. This made for some very thrilling and entertaining moments and such extreme explosive sexual chemistry that left me gasping for breath.

Another brilliantly written story that is filled with so much raw emotion that you can’t help but grip your kindle tightly hoping that things will work out with each turn of the page.

So good and now I need more!

Arc for honest review . A.R Beck Is a new author to me but after reading reckless envy , she has very quickly become a author I will be reading for a long time to come . Reckless envy is the second book in ( the seven MC series ) This book is so extremely intense from the moment it starts I completely fell in love with Katie and Jex , their story is so raw , emotional, perfect . Katie has been through so much because of her twisted husband. She is so young but broken in so many ways , but still had a lightness to her .Jex is so very dark , but he is also the person who brings her back to life again . This isn’t a light easy Romance , it’s full of darkness , and rawness but absolutely beautiful and perfect . I do not even have the words to express how much I loved this book , it was true perfection. I was completely hooked , it grabbed my attention and did not let go . I cannot wait to see where this series goes next 💜💜💜💜💜💜

Wow this book had me crying and wanting kill all at the same time! I love how A.R.Breck brings out all your emotions in her stories and this is no exception. Katie suffers so much domestic abuse at the hands of Dane, there were times i was cringing at how brutal Dane was but i think it was all handled sensitively and made you realise what some women sadly go through.

I loved how tormented Jex was but he was immediately drawn to Katie and wanted to bring her back to life. I think in a way they both saved each other. It was a brilliant story and i was so happy for Katie to find Jex. The sex scenes were hot especially that scene at the cabin where Katie was on the rock!! Wow!!

I can’t wait for Violet and West’s story, Violet cracks me up all the time. Brilliant second book in this MC series would highly recommend.

Sometimes you read books that make you cry. Sometimes you read books that make you scream. This book does both. It had all the feels.
I haven’t ever felt as sorry for a character as much as I did for Katie. The loyalty she had to a man so wrong for her was heartbreaking. She was an emotionally broken character that needed a strong man like Jex to pull her out.
Jex was such an interesting man. He was complex in his own ways and knew what he wanted when he saw it. The immediate chemistry he felt when he saw Katie was enough to make him seek her out.
I loved that the story could be read as a stand-alone but had the characters from the first book intertwined.
I’m hoping for a certain someone’s book next. It’s going to be amazing!

Great job Andrea!

Sincerely your number one fan!

I really liked that this book is set in a MC environment. They all seem like a close knit family. The plot was also a good one. Katie is definitely in need of help. Jex took it upon himself to help. That is where the story goes off track a little. I really felt for Katie. Her life is miserable. Jax was doing his best and going out of his way to help. I just felt like the characters really didn’t interact during the first meeting. I didn’t really understand why this MC member would travel across states for a stranger. Especially after the first trip where he is told to leave her alone. It came off as a strange back and forth between strangers. It would have worked better if they had a really strong connection and really hit it off at the beginning.

This is a book that I could not put down.

We briefly meet Katie in Chaotic Wrath where she gets reunited with her best friend Ivy.

Katie is hiding a secret that can get her killed.

Jez is a man who is a moster and doesn't care what people think of him. He spots Katie and knows that there is something off with her and he needs to know what is wrong.

Jez help Katie escape the hell she is in and claims her as his. Leaving one monster to go to another is what is going to save her or get her killed.

This is a great series to read and the characters are hard core on dealing with the threats to their women. If you are looking for an emotional read this is it.

Another fabulous book by the amazing a.r breck. I couldn't put this book down honestly I finished it in two days maybe not even two days it's was just that good there are trigger warnings but if thats something that doesn't bother you then I recommend this 10/10. I honestly am never disappointed with in of a.r brecks books so just writes so good and gets you lost in what she's writes. I don't like to say to much on the books themselves as I want all to read it but katie and jex are two characters you will fall in love with their story is an emotional one but in the end a great story. Great great job a.r and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

This will make you cry, scream, and bite your nails, as this story plunges you into the nightmare that is Katie's life being a punch bag for her husband Dane until fate sent her on a trip and a man she didn't know nor even speak too seemed to know what her life was like. Grab this now and you won't let go until you have feasted on on a story that will break your heart and put it back together, as Katie starts to see the difference between a monster and a beast, the train of emotion has left the station enjoy the ride. I loved it. I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Dark but cute

While this was a dark story with lots of violence, it’s was also a cute story where two people who never thought they’d know true love find their soulmate. I really enjoyed Katie and Jex’s story. Katie’s marriage was abusive and cold but as soon as she met Jex she found a light at the end of the tunnel. Katie caught Jex’s attention the moment his eyes caught a glimpse of her and he couldn’t figure out why. I hope this series continues because I want to see more of them and possibly see Remington be apart of their family.

Great

AR Breck yet again does an amazing job taking very difficult subject matters and creating a fabulous read. Jex is my favorite type of hero as he is broken and damaged but so strong. Katie was hard for me to understand as I struggle with her reasoning for staying however I know this sadly far too common. This book also had plenty of steam and suspense. Can't wait to see what's next for The Seven.

This amazing woman!

I do not know how she does it. But oh my gosh. Just when I think she cannot top her last book. She guts me. Nothing is ever as it seems. Nothing is predictable. She keeps me on the edge of my seat with every word. This series is now a fan favorite for me. The H and h’s chemistry is too 🔥🔥🔥 to handle.

5/5 for plot development
5/5 for 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
5/5 for shocking me AGAIN

Already so ready for the next in the series.

another great read by A R Breck. She has such a way of creating dark & violent worlds in a way that you want to keep reading!! I'm not usually a huge fan of MC books, but this one was unique enough that it didnt feel like a cut & paste storyline like they usually do. it was a hard road for the h but you wanted to see her make it. the H was def not sunshine & rainbows, but he was exactly who she needed.

Dark and emotional

Another dark emotional ride. These guys will chew you up and spit you out but then treasure your heart like it’s made of gold.

Jex is no exception. He’s dark, angry, and violent. And the moment he sets his eyes on Katie, there’s an immediate pull. He feels something is off with her and will stop at nothing to help her.

These two go on a crazy journey, but all work it when they get their HEA.

I am absolutely in love with the characters and the world that A.R. Breck creates. I find myself falling for the bad guy... and rooting for them. She gives them souls and feelings, even if they are buried under a ton of tattoos, muscles, and leather. Envy was no different from Wrath. I held my breath the whole way through.

2 lost souls

Jex is the mysterious member of the seven. Katie is Ivy’s long lost friend that has been dealing with the night that Ivy was abducted. Jex sees Katie’s strange behavior and can’t understand why he’s drawn to her. Jex see himself as a menace, while in her eyes he is a savior.

Jex and Katie are in for a rough ride! This story is so full of heartache. Katie is barely hanging on and jex is living in darkness. This is not a typical romance. This is dark and gritty. Their love is instant and all consuming!

Tough but beautiful read

This book gutted me. Similar to the first- my heart was broken and stitched back together again. This book had me in tears. My stomach hurt reading parts of it. I adore Jex and his intuition and Katie is a warrior. I’m looking forward to more from the 7.

This book is a standalone book in the Seven MC series. It was a good follow up to the first Chaotic Wrath. I enjoyed seeing more about Jex and learning about his personality and scar that is mentioned in the first book. Warning the book contains abuse and rape. Both are well written.
