Follow Sara and General D’Annon as what should have been a simple trip to get Sara home turns into the adventure of a lifetime.
I am heartbroken to quit the Bride Program. Momma needs me to return home and take care of her after a recent heart attack. Even though I had no intention of ever becoming a bride to one of the Cerastean aliens, I don’t want to leave. The mothership is the first place I have felt safe in a very long time. I will miss the feeling of security and all my friends. I may even miss one gruff, annoying, overprotective alien general.
General D’ I’ve watched and worried over Sara for months. Like all Cerasteans, I can smell emotions. Sadness and fear were Sara’s constant companions in the early days of her arrival on the mothership. Now that she has to return to Earth, the scent of Sara’s sadness and fear are back. I vow to escort Sara home and make sure she is safe.
Content This book contains themes of domestic violence.
Dane Griggs lives in Florida with her very patient husband, two trouble-making children, a bratty long-hair dachshund, and too many fish tanks. In her spare time—which like most moms, she has very little of—she loves to read (a lot!), write, watch movies, drink wine & pots of coffee, tend her aquaponic garden, go surfing, do woodworking, and volunteer with the PTA and Girl Scouts.
Mrs. Griggs enjoys writing about relationships that evolve and grow over time, with lots of super-hot sex. She strives to put her characters in interesting situations where their strength and wit shine through—no Mary Sues allowed. So grab a bottle of wine and come hang-out in the mind of Dane Griggs and a world of characters you would actually enjoy sharing that bottle with. and if you are into it, be sure to follow Dane Griggs on Amazon.
This story helps remind us to keep putting one foot in front of the other. We often blame ourselves for things not moving faster. We need to remember it often takes more strength to wait. But, after waiting, we can often come out in the sunshine. Thank you for Kindle Unlimited.
Likes: Dealt with domestic and spiritual abuse in a Christian context.

Dislikes: Author seems unaware of how to avoid spiritual abuse of Scripture by biased translations of misogynistic church leaders and abusive laypeople. Author objection: Christian women are often told they are not allowed to speak or lead in church.
Actual protective Scripture: In the original Greek, 1 Corinthians chapter 11 Scripture indicates that women could pray and prophesy in church to give a message to the congregation (to preach) as long as, per chapter 14, it wasn’t disorderly, only 2-3 people spoke at a time, and there were interpreters to explain the prophecies. Scripture backs women ministers and laypeople who desire to communicate in an orderly manner in the same way it supports men to speak in an orderly manner to support effective communication.
Author objection: Christian women are often told to submit to abuse.
Actual protective Scripture:
According to 1 Corinthians 5:10-13, if anyone claims to be Christian and is sexually immoral, greedy, an idolater, reviler (definition in Greek: loidoros: verbally abusive, per Strong’s Greek Dictionary reference 3060), drunkard or robber. Do not even eat with such a one. NRSV. If a Christian woman isn’t supposed to eat with a “Christian” man abuser then she doesn’t have to stay with him if he verbally abuses her, financially exploits her, or drinks to excess. Further, if he physically assaults her then he is placing himself as judge over her instead of God and that’s idolatry so a Christian woman also doesn’t have to submit to his physical abuse either, per Scripture.
Author objection: Aliens are misrepresented as demons in the Christian church because they resemble snakes so Christians tend to be ignorant and biased.
Actual protective Scripture:
The Bible instructs Christians to judge whether someone is evil based on their actions. To illustrate, Matthew 7:18 explains, “A good tree is not able to bear bad fruits, nor a bad tree to bear good fruits,” and Galatians 5:22-23 clarifies that good fruit, or the fruit of the Spirit, is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. If a person demonstrates those good qualities then he or she emulated the Holy Spirit if the Christian God. If a person doesn’t emulate those qualities and seeks to abusively control others instead of themselves, then they are evil whether they are human, alien, or demon.
The author has correctly objected to abusive facets of church culture that claim to be Christian without understanding that Christian Scripture offers shelter to believers who read it and stand by the promises therein about how God believes His people should treat in another after the resurrection and ascension of Christ. The Bible provides standards explaining abuse is wrong. God will stand with those who live by those words, even if it takes courage to present the truth to abusive spiritual leaders and lay people and coordination of a safety net with safe people to escape abusers who would twist Scripture to perpetuate evil.
The author doesn’t seem familiar enough with the Bible to offer a way out of spiritual abuse and I have a master’s degree in pastoral counseling. As someone from within the culture Sara grew up in, I thought I would offer my perspective on various biblical alternatives to the objections raised by the book. I did remove a star because the conversation around spiritual abuse seemed to be shallow and under researched.
Amazeballs!!! This is the best one yet. Finally the General and his Sara. And our clever author opened up a situation where he could speak freely and Sara could see his heart. First tho we begin by thinking Sara is going to have to leave the bride program. And we get more information about the bad guys. But my favorite part was that at the first sign of trouble our heroine didn't debate and whine about what she should do. No our smart girl called the General for help. Don't you love that? If you're like me, you get so tired of the constant whining of do I or don't I? Love that this author writes strong intelligent women. But back to the romance.... the General is one sexy hunk of alien and that "back" on the cover....hot,hot,hot!!!! Sara is finally so happy and safe. And the romance is so sweet and sexy. He has always loved her and we all thought she really loved him. The scary stuff is handled so well and our shy fragile girl gets to be strong and resourceful. And she gets to get back at the crude that hurt her. Best revenge ever. I cant express how impressed I continue to be with this author. She improves with each book and I am looking forward to the next one. They will get the evil queen I just know it. Please give this a try. You will love it too
Sara Landry has been called home to help her sick mother, and D'Annon, General of ship B187's Warriors, has decided he will be the one to take her home.
Sara has been hiding among the volunteer wives of B187 ever since the program started. D'Annon has decided that he will be the one to take her home, since he has been watching over her since her arrival with her one tiny bag, and her atmosphere of sadness. He is so worried that something will harm her in her old home that he gives her a panic button to cal him for help if she needs it. She needs it, nothing's wrong with her mom, her abusive ex boyfriend has joined the Earth terrorist group trying to make the Cerasteans leave, is on his way to get Sara and brainwash her against the Cerasteans. Sara is having no part of this and hits her panic button, calling D'Annon back to get her. But her ex has help and Sara is kidnapped along with D'Annon by the terrorists and their Ostium "boss". After getting beat up, tied up, and shooting D'Annon full of poison, they are left in a shack to die. Sara manages to escape, D'Annon manages to survive the poison, and they both set off for help. More complicated stuff goes on, Sara Claims D'Annon, and the terrorists are stopped, and the Hisk arrive. Lots going on in this complex tale.
I've been on a Sci-fi romance kick for a while now and been trying new authors. I was pleasantly surprised at how good these books are...the only thing keeping them from being a 5 star for me is I guess the writing style. It almost reads like diary entrys, for example, I meet up with so and so in the common room and we talked for over an hour. It was so much fun. Then I went to my room and got ready for bed. Bla, bla, bla, etc. Also, through all the books it's like what I call "robot" speech with almost no contraction word.....example: can not instead of can't; I am instead of I'm. This is throughout ALL the book, not just here and there. It keeps the story from flowing when authors write this way but luckily I'm able to usually blend them in my head so it doesn't sound like a robot love story, lol! The story line and characters are interesting enough to over look this way of writing, I guess it's more of a "telling" rather then the "showing" style that I prefer, but Dane kept my interest through all 7 books thus far and I can't wait to find out what happens with the rest of the bride's and the Ostiums! Give these books a chance, with KU you have nothing to lose and possibly a new favorite author to gain ;-)
Woww this book is on the dark side... and I love it! Sara gets a backbone about 2/5 of the way in and I LOVE IT! GO Sara!! Overall, this was one of my favorites in the series. It dealt with some dark things and I feel those were dealt with appropriately. I appreciated the slow build to intimacy that kept Sara's feelings and comfort level in mind. I also like that she often was the one who took the lead. It was a hot dynamic that also totally made sense considering her past experience. I found this really hard to put down, the pacing was great, mixing fast paced action, with drama and of course some seriously sexy scenes! Dane writes intimacy very effectively! Truly did enjoy this book.
I received a free copy of this book and am leaving my honest review.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Watching Sara come out of her shell and conquer her demons was very satisfying! I'm glad to see her and D' Annon finally get together, too! I'm really loving the Saving Ceraste series, and I am sad that there are only two more books left.
This series is s about an alien race of only males that have survived an attack, killing all their females and leader/artists. In exchange for female women willing to mate with them, the race offers the technology to cure cancer and other deadly diseases. Each book features a new couple and ties in to the other.
Sara was a bride in the Bride Program and she kept to herself because she had been abused before arriving. D’Annon is the General for all the ships and takes his job seriously until he sees Sara and becomes devoted to her. Can they come together before her ex destroys everything? Highly recommend this book and series
I really enjoyed this series of books. I laughed and dang near cried. Steamy scene and good story plot. So when will the next book be released? Don't leve me hanging here
The world building is excellent, and the "good" characters are enjoyable. Sara's change of heart feels abrupt, but a brush with death can make people's priorities change. The relationship between Sara and D'Annon is sweet.
Sara needs to leave the bride program because her mother is sick. D'Annon agrees to take her home and then on to a mission. Trouble finds Sara right away but D'Annon is there to save her. But hey, trouble usually comes in threes. Enjoy
Sara and D’Annon story was well written and a great story. I loved how the characters were developed with a touching background with Sara. The overall story was well developed and interesting. Looking forward to the next one.
I like that the stories are so enjoyed and built around reality. This could happen. The characters are not unbelievable. You can see yourself in their situation and how they struggle out of it.
This is my favorite of the whole series. Sara has to discover how brave she really is. D'Annon has to let her see his vulnerability. I love the characters and how they get together. On another note, the cover is awesome. It hits me on a whole other level. Pictures of insipid girls fawning over hunky guys get really old, really fast.
