When a young man wakes up strapped to a chair on top of a building, he learns the horrific consequences of evolved peer pressure. "Natural Selection" continues the intense suspense of Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl, Sharp Objects) and the social commentary of Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club, Choke).
A wonderfully dark and intense story about peer pressure in the internet age, and the unexpected consequences.
The writing is sharp and minimalist, pulling us right into a story already in progress, and filling in the details as we move forward to the shocking, and heart-breaking conclusion. A confident story that fits in nicely with the work of Chuck Palahniuk and Craig Clevenger. Highly recommended for those who like their dark tales to hit the head and the heart.
Very short, but utterly gripping. Just goes to show that peer pressure can have unintended consequences. Frazier does a phenomenal job dropping you straight into the story without skipping a beat and allows you to play catch-up before the bleak and foreseen climax.
A short story of revenge, set atop a roof top and featuring a lawn chair, a bit of rope, and a broken wristwatch. Nicely done, but I couldn't really connect with it.
