Ken Pratt worked to make a living, but his passion has always been writing. Having a busy family, the only "free" time he had to write was late at night getting no more than five hours of sleep a night. He has penned several novels that are being published along with several children stories as well. Ken Pratt says, "If you want something bad enough, you'll sacrifice something else to get it. I sacrifice sleep. I do not write to be a best seller or for wealth, I write to bring hope into the lives of the hopeless and encourage the disheartened through the lives of the characters and God's providence in my stories. There is always 'Hope' and that is the purpose of my books."
While this may turn some potential readers away, my hope is that my comment will at least cause enough curiosity to want to read the series. I am an avid fan of western novels, and this series included all one can expect: intrigue, murder, mayhem, loves lost and won, and lives changed. But, the thing I liked the most was how God and Jesus were such an integral part of several characters lives, including the rough and tough hero, Matt. I will be looking for more of Mr. Party's works to enjoy.
This one of the best historical series I've read in a while! I enjoyed the interaction between the characters in the series throughout the 9 books, it was interesting to read about a time so different from now, but in some ways the same. Human doesn't change much, there's good and evil in the world still. But this series showed that good can overcome. I would recommend this author to anyone, can't wait to read another.
This was not a good collection of stories. The stories should have been listed as Christian oriented. There was so much preaching and prosthelizing (sic) that the thread of the stories was at times at risk of being lost. These aren't for the average western reader.
I like Matt, Christine and the Bannister family. I like the action and the life lessons. I do wish Mr. Pratt would give closure to some of his books. Nonetheless, I am always sorry when I finish one of his books, this one especially.
Truly enjoyed the entire series of books. I really enjoyed the adventures, the character development and interaction of characters. I am upset by yhe fact that the series ends with no resolution to any of several subplots.
This was a series of 9 stories, all of them are spellbinding and a very well written western. I am very impressed with the author was able to get moral and ethical points across. The lessons expressed seem to be LOST in todays books .
I quit at the gang rape of the pregnant woman who miscarried and died. Odd how there is never a gang rape of a guy ( might offend/put off a few male readers). A little more gritty than I can take.
Well that was a fantastic read. Love these long books and thus was a very big book. Very well written, great characters, loved all the action just like a real western. So much happening. Like the way th7s author write. Thank you
Absolute rubbish. To be expected from free to read books I suppose. If it was any good, Amazon would charge for it. Don't waste your time, this is simply a vehicle for bible thumping. Try C J Petit instead, he's good.
Pratt is a gifted author. But the series is written with a strong Christian bent. It is wonderful to have such a good read centered around those with high moral character, and to not suffer constantly from harsh, crude language.
Imagine my surprise to find a book that leads people to the Lord in western old days. These are great Christian books where everyone has their chance to follow and accept the Lords goodness. I read them all and didn’t stop till the end. Highly recommend
Ken Pratt's books 1-9 of Matt Bannister, a Christian Western Mystery Collection, were delightfully refreshing, heartwarming, and inspirational. I need to read my Bible more and make sure I use every opportunity God gives me to witness to whoever He puts in my path.
Though he is a bounty hunter or US Marshall ,Matt is a Christian and wants those he meets in an official capacity to know Jesus. Enjoyed all nine books.
I was disappointed in the final story with an almost blunt ending. I did enjoy most of the series and I also enjoyed some of the quotes from the Bible.
I enjoyed the series. The stories kept my attention and I didn't want to stop, when I should have gone to bed. My mind kept going back wondering what was next. Thank you.
The Matt Bannister Series Books 1-9 is not only an enjoyable series, but it is a great box set buy. Ken Pratt has taken Matt Bannister and through the series we see him return to the home he left and then fall in love further in the series. Although you can read the books out of order, they flow beautifully from book to book. Although I received an arc for my honest review, I also purchased the box set because the series is do great.
The complete set of Matt Bannister books takes you on one adventure after another. The series is exciting, keeps the reader engaged, and the characters reflect the flavor of the old west. Ken Pratt is right up there with other great western writers and has quickly become my favorite.
Matt finds himself engrossed in murder, kidnapping, and lies and sustains it all to make things right. If you like lots of action, suspense, and western saga's, this is for you.
