A dragon shifter must protect his human mate from an otherworldly threat.
The Human Assistant
For years, I’ve worked hard to earn my PhD in genetics. I rarely take time to date. I’ve never met a man who respected the passion I have for my work. Until now. But the man isn’t my boyfriend. He’s my boss. Dr. Eli Bennett offers me a job as a research assistant. I’ll be working for the best scientist in the field. Eli is not only a genius, but he’s the most handsome man I’ve ever seen. I love working in his lab. But my gorgeous scientist has a secret -- he’s not human. And there’s a big threat looming, one he didn’t even know existed. He says I’m his mate, and he does everything in his power to protect me. But his world is so different from mine. How can I ever fit in?
The Scientist Shifter
Building my career has always been my priority. I spend my days saving lives in a cutting edge genetics lab. In the evening, I pursue my passion, studying the stars My family wants me mated, but a mate is not in my future. All of my exes said I care more about my lab than I do about our clan. Then I hire Ava to work for me. She’s the perfect assistant. She’s beautiful, smart, and dedicated. She’s everything I could ask for. I can’t stop thinking about her. But she's human. And I’m her boss. After a work event, we give into our passion, and struggle to keep our relationship professional. On a work trip to Ireland, danger emerges. My research has led to a startling discovery… We aren’t alone in the world. Now protecting Ava is my priority. Her safety is the only thing that matters.
Can a dragon shifter show his human mate that there’s a place for her in his clan?
I began writing short stories for family and friends. My vivid imagination and love of mysteries and romance eventually led me to following my own dreams of becoming a published author.
I am big time foodie and a huge fan of Nigella Lawson. I have an endless love for chocolates. As a mother of two beautiful girls who are obsessed with donuts and fairy tale stories. I love taking mini weekend vacation or spending quality time at home with family and friends.

Thrilling and exciting story!!! I was sucked in and glued to my Kindle throughout the whole book. The story about Eli and Ava is full of action, suspense, intrigue and steamy scenes. He is her boss and also he wants her but protecting Ava is his number one priority even when the threat comes from a different world. Will Eli succeed in protecting his mate?
I enjoyed this book but it definitely wasn’t my favourite. Eli and Ava were perfect for each other. They’re both happiest being in a lab, they lose track of time experimenting and they’re both complete geeks at heart. I loved getting more of Niall and Nora during this story. Eli is a renowned geneticist and is over dating, as his three last dragon shifter girlfriends have ended things with him due to all his time spent in his labs, they just don’t understand him. He’s been given the task of hiring a new lab assistant, as all the other assistants haven’t been up to Eli’s standards, He’s really dreading the interview process but luckily his colleague has written a really glowing recommendation for his old TA, Ava whose currently working towards her PHD.
Eli agrees to meet Ava for an interview and after hearing her talk passionately about a paper she wrote on gene sequencing, he hires her for his assistant but he’s a bit worried as he feels an instant attraction to her which she also returns. They both ignore their attraction towards each other until they end up going to the hospital charity gala together and sparks fly. They both don’t know how to act the next morning, which I really think has to do with how smart they are as they’re amazing at talking to each other about work but not great about telling the other what they want. Things get weird for awhile and they go back to just having a working relationship, well until Eli gets invited to a convention in Ireland and invites Ava along so they actually have time to talk to each other.
How will Ava react when she finds out that Eli and his friend Niall are dragon shifters and Niall’s wife Nora is a witch? The beings that showed up and caused Eli, Niall and Nora to show Ava that they’re not human was really not what I was expecting, but it makes sense to be added in this story, given Eli’s true passion. I enjoyed meeting the deplaned dragon shifter pilot Owen. His clan seems like a bunch of a*seholes. I’m really looking forward to reading his story and seeing finally find family that deserves him. I loved how Eli and Ava had been trying to reach out to him since they met, especially after hearing his story and tried to bring him into their extended found family of the other dragon shifters, their mates and their kids. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
3.5 Stars Good story, for the most part. I’ve read this series from the beginning. I’ve kept reading through some serious editing issues, and odd storylines. Then the introduction of some strange beings. But this one might be the strangest. Eli and Ava are truly made for each other. Both are happiest working in a lab. Nerdy geeks at heart, completely dedicated to their job. They are loners, rarely dating, or spending time with their families. Often losing track of time, forgetting to eat or even sleep. I loved Eli. He was a complete nerd. Very geeky, loved his research, and being able to help humans with the advancements he’s made with DNA sequencing. But when needed he can break out the uber possessive alpha dragon he is. Ava I liked. She was working toward finishing her PhD. Assisting Eli in his lab, will help her in that, she has fawned over him since she first saw him when he was a guest lecturer at her school. She did have moments that drove me nuts. These two are instantly attracted to each other. They try to fight it, to remain professional, but it’s just not going to happen. As geeky as they both are, they both have the same problem. They are unsure of social norms. They are great at communicating about anything work related. But their personal communication was nonexistent. Or taken too literally. Ava doesn’t have the typical freak out when she discovers what Eli is, but instead gets angry about him keeping secrets from her. Then she tells him she needs space, and when he gives it to her, she gets pissed and tells him she’s moving out of state. She was all over the place. I have loved these dragons since the beginning. The characters and the stories have kept me coming back. But they are starting to cross a line into the ridiculous. I loved the dragons. Witches and even vampires I understood. Then we were given Fae and werewolves. Ok. The last book pushed it a bit too much with the introduction of the Greek Gods. But what was thrown at us in this book was way out of my comfort zone. It crossed the line into the ridiculous. We met Owen in this book, the hero in the next. He seems like an interesting character. Fingers crossed. Even with everything they go through, Eli and Ava do get to their happy ending. I loved seeing Niall and Nora again. Overall not a bad story. Well written and edited. Just a bit ridiculous in spots.
Eli gets a new assistant Ava who seem to fit in with his life perfectly. Dragon shifter Eli Bennett was a geneticist for his career but his hobby was astrophysics and had degrees in both but he found it hard to keep assistants as he had yet to find one who took the job seriously. Ava Carter is close to finishing her degree and had been working as teaching assistant tells her advisor that she would like a more hands on job. He tells her that there is a job she could apply for that he would be willing to give her a letter of recommendation for and when he tells her it is with well known geneticist Eli Bennett. Excited at the idea of working with she applies immediately and soon finds herself getting the job. Eli is shocked at his reaction to Ava but still made her his assistant. Great reading an loved the surprise element. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Once again we are with the Irish dragons has they find their mates and realise that there is far more to life than they ever realised
Dr. Eli Bennett entire life revolves around the genetic work that he does in his lab and even though his family want him to find a mate it just never happens as all the woman he dates say he loves his scientific work more than he can ever love a woman That all changes when he employs human Ava she also holds a PHD in Genetics and comes to work with him as his assistant The only thing is he knows she is his mate and now he has found something he loves more than his scientific work But danger is closing in can he keep her safe and do they have a future together You will have to read to see
Eli thinks he will never find a mate. He is more interested in science than the shifter women he has dated. He is also very devoted to his job and expects others to do the same. Eli has been given the job of hiring his new assistant and dreads the interviews. Lucky for him, his old professor and friend, has the perfect candidate. A female student that has the same ideals as he does. Ava knows of Eli thru his work with DNA, as it is the same field she is studying in college. Ava goes to the interview and after they finish, Eli offers her the job. Eli also is interested in the stars and whether there are other inhabited planets. He makes a discovery that no one else knows. It leads to a lot if interesting things happening later.
This series just keeps getting better and better with every novel added too it. Past characters making their appearances in each novel, helps move this series along also. Because how else would family dynamics fit in with a good family ribbing everyone in a while. But any who. Both main characters are just made for each other. Hard working and focused only on their job. But what happens when the person most like you and possibly may be your mate... Steps into the lime light and into danger, because of a innocent side project you started? Wanna know more? Dive on into the hidden world of dragon shifters.
What an exciting story. These two characters were so sweet and the steam they create is hotter than hot. There is always something that comes to endanger the dragons, but this time it was the DNA of humans and dragon shifters that an alien race came to earth to get their hands on. Who better to contact other than Dr Eli Bennett, the renowned geneticist and his assistant Eva Carter. There is a HEA and a baby and wedding in their future.

I have to say that this whole series has been enjoyable and this one is no exception, I liked the characters and the storyline. I also like that characters we've met in previous books make appearances in this book adding a further sense of continuity to the plotline. Eli and Ava are two nicely written characters who have a great connection in the lab as well as elsewhere, they have great chemistry and are perfect for each other. This one adds a twist in the form of Aliens which I didn't see coming.
Another great dragon shifter romance by Brittany White who once again brings strong characters and an entertaining story line. She pulled me in with all the action and intrigue as well as the steamy chemistry between Ava and Eli. She takes them on an adventurous journey and brings it to life with her vividly painted scenes. It's well written v, moves quickly and smoothly and is an enjoyable read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Ava is a research assistant and is applying to work for Dr. Eli Bennett. Eli is a brilliant genetic scientist who also happens to be a dragon shifter. Eli is known to be a major geek and hard to work for. He is just so engrossed in his work, human interaction is not his way. He and Ava could be perfect together if they can beat a new threat to dragon kind. Eli has also run across another isolated dragon that needs a clan and friends.
The author always made me wonder whose story is going to be next and the book leaves a glaring clue who, but the how, the what and who the mate is is absent. And it was so much fun when their dragon claimed their mate without their human side realizing it. But danger seems to be part and parcel of their lives and this time the enemy is quite a surprise. of course, we should not forget the other dragons who made a cameo appearances.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading these series of books. Brittany White managed to incorporate just about every aspect of shifter lore. Even mystical gods and space aliens. Brittany obviously has such a thorough knowledge of so many types of mystical and scientific subjects. Then to possess such literary skill to utilize and combine these subjects into such believable characters and storylines is a miracle in itself.
Very good. Better than the older books in the series. I really loved Eli and Ava and their story is a sweet one, especially for nerdy people like me. This was very entertaining and I appreciate the growth of the author because her stories seem to be getting better. I also like that the dialog between the characters is improving. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys these types of stories, but fair warning, these are not "clean". They are steamy.
Thank you for continuing this series and taking it to another level. Eli is a scientist that can easily get absorbed in work. Settling down with a women is out of his equation. Ava has worked hard to reach her goals in the scientific world. Getting assigned as an assistant to Dr. Eli Bennett a dream come true. The attraction is there from their first meeting. Loved it.
I received this book free from the author for an honest review.
When Ava, human, is hired as lab assistant to Eli, dragon, it seems as if they are the perfect team. They each care deeply about their research which usually causes people to run in the other direction. The story keeps you turning the pages with love, secrets, danger, Dragons, Witches and Aliens.

This is such an incredible series. I have loved every book Brittany White writes. I wish I could keep clicking and adding more stars. Unfortunately I can't. But what I can say is this is another page turning, can't put down must read series. For a fantabulous reading experience, start with book one and roll with it. A phenomenal series that I am simply addicted to.
This was my first experience with this author and I enjoyed it. The characters really are endearing with their personalities and issues. I could relate to them although they were not the best communicators. The storyline is engaging and I enjoyed the little bit of something extra. This was a great read and I can’t wait to read more books by this author.
Ava and Eli were the perfect mates! They say there is someone for everyone and Ava was made just for Eli! She loved all of his quirks, hobbies, and likes that his other girlfriends couldn't understand or tolerate! I do believe everyone will enjoy reading this book! I definitely recommend it!
Absolutely wonderful story with old favorites and some new and unexpected characters. Science, astronomy, aliens and loners make for an exciting and interesting adventure.
Characters are believable. Enjoyed the story. The plot was feasible to some extent. If you read this book it is advised to read the prior books first to get the full enjoyment out of this book.
Another good installment in this series. I enjoyed the very well developed storyline and the interaction with characters from the previous books. Editing needs some minor attention but I’m looking forward to the next installment.
I absolutely LOVE this series and all the interconnected characters that come in for visits. I can’t wait for the next one and I truly hope to see a book for Owen!
Loved, loved this story. It was interesting from beginning to end. Eli & Ava are a team worth rooting for. Love how while they fit together and very happy they finally were able to open up to each other. Great to see some of the other dragons in this story too. Looking forward to next book!!
Kept me interested through the entire story. I enjoyed reading about the different clans. Ireland is the perfect place to find out there are paranormal beings on the Earth.
She's a student working on her PhD in genetics. Now she's got a lab job with one of the most handsome and smartest doctor who also has a secret. He's a dragon shifter with two degrees. Genetics and Astrophysics.
When 2 nerds get together and sparks fly mating happens. Not sure why I had to say that but I felt it. A cute story with dragons and aliens and witches and humans and science nerds! Enjoyed the read but a fickle nerd dragon.
WOW! "Irish Dragon Shifted Brothers" written by Brittany White again has given us another awesome story. In this story we have another interesting being. Your stories just keep getting better and better. Thank you
This review is for books 8-13. The series is overall pretty good but it has gone off the rails a little bit. I mean we have demi-gods, demons, gods, and more. It is a little crazy all the author introduces. Overall a good series but just a little too much at times.
Scientist Dragon’s Assistant (Irish Dragon Shifter Brothers Book 9) by Brittany White. Eli, dragon shifter scientist, hires human Ava as his assistant and they soon fall in love. She finds out he’s a dragon when he has to fight aliens.
