Cursed World #3

Misfit Fortune

Rate this book
Listening length: 12 hours, 10 minutes

It’s the brightest light that casts the deepest shadows…

Magic, blood, and politics hide an enemy the pack never saw coming. One with more power than anyone understands.

Enemies are closing in on all sides, but they’re nothing more than a distraction to hide the real threat. It isn’t just the pack at risk –– not anymore.

Magic itself is being threatened.

Amber and her pack are trapped in the middle of a centuries long war, and the time has come to pick a side.

But it’s a choice she won’t be able to take back.

Nothing is as it seems. Trust is a valuable commodity that is sorely lacking in an increasingly dangerous world.

Amber must step up and take her place in the game, shattering illusions and pulling the truth from the shadows.

Don’t think about it - just read it! You’ll see why! :)

Damn, I love this series!!! Stephanie Foxe did it again! I love Amber as she really does make a great Alpha! I have become quite fond of Angel - who would’ve thought?!? I really like seeing how attached he’s become to Amber. Shane is one big disappointment! I was hoping that he and Amber were going to really connect, but after that whole “thing”...nope! I really can’t wait to read on and see where Stephanie takes us next! Definitely recommend this series!

More Chaos for the Crew! Past and Prophecy!
So in this one we have a lot going on- forces are at work to pin anything the can on the pack (including a government agency -The MIB- accusing the pack of colluding with the previously dead sorcerer and having a hand in the no magic zones.)

Plus it seems the Angels and Werewolves working together to get rid of Amber's bitten pack still- but is it just prejudice or something bigger these Misfits will have a hand in? aka

Also we get a new POV for Tommy's Troll friend Deward and his trial that all seems to fall into the bigger plot of the story.

Engaging read

These books progress well. They are well written and intriguing. The characters from a family and grow together. A fun series.

My favorite of the book of the series!

I really enjoyed the unique take on angels and demons. Plot line was strong and intriguing. A lot of things happened that I did not expect. But my absolute favorite part was the ending. It genuinely made me laugh. I love when a book ends on a good positive note. NO cliffhangers!

I read back-to-back all three of the books in this series that have been published so far. The series starts weak. It felt like this "origin story" portion of the series was very rushed, with not a lot of effort put into establishing the heroine's character and backstory. Eventually, those are filled in, but the early lack was hard to get over. I'm glad I stuck with the series, though. I was a little put off by the jump in perspective every chapter, but by book two, I was ok with it. This series is free on Kindle Unlimited. If you decide to read it, know that books 2 and 3 are much better than book 1. I really like all the characters by book two, and love them by book three. I'm interested to see if the heroine ends up in a romance with the series bad boy. Seems possible. And the other characters are pairing off, so why not?

Misfit series

I love this series. Take my advice and pick up book #1 right away if you haven’t already done so. You will not be disappointed.

I hadn't read Stephanie Foxe before and it probably wasn't a good idea to start at book 3 so it took me a little while to grasp the backstory.
But I am so glad i got this.
The characters seem very real, developing with the story as you read. However, the real triumph is the storyline itself which literally takes you on rollercoaster ride. This is one story that I could not rush through. I had to take my time and I enjoyed every second.
In fact I enjoyed it so much I've now bought the first two in the series to find out what I have missed.
A fantastic read

Really enjoy Amber and her band of misfits

Amber, Ceri,Gen, and the demon are my favorite characters in this book.

I look forward to the next book and wish it was longer.

Others may disagree, but My only critique would be there are a few too many points of view that I believe breaks up the story flow when the ‘main’ character changes too often....we can still learn about the other characters through others.

Minor spoilers.

Shane failed amber while the demon actually does more for them than any other so called pack allies.

Overall looking forward to the next book

New twist

On an old idea. The pack is finally realizing their potential. Trouble is growing.

I continue to enjoy this series. There were a few moments where the pace left me out of sorts, but overall the story is amazing.

First off, I absolutely adore Stephanie. I haven't read a book by her that I don't love. Misfit Fortune is no different. The characters are even further developed than the last two books, and I REALLY REALLY REALLY HOPE Angel becomes part of the pack.

Deward becomes integral to the story, too, when his life is in danger, Ceri learns to ask for help, and Amber continues to kick butt. I wish I could go into details, but I can't bring myself to school the book; it'll ruin the magic. Just give yourself a weekend vacation through the imagery and magic that Stephanie has woven together and enjoy the ride.

Outstanding! The pack face a future even more daunting than they had realized. Caught between bigoted packs, manipulations from all sides, and a war they had nothing to do with, they have to dive headlong into the fracas just to survive. But the biggest hurdle may be the unveiled truths regarding some of the supernatural races. So, buckle down and power up, or become more victims to the maelstrom.
This story was so much fun.

Good book

I am really enjoying this series. The first one would have been my favourite because it was more based on the werewolves and not so much on angels and demons like this book and the second seem to be.
It is still a good series however.

Favourite part of this book was definitely the last page/chapter. Especially the last couple of paragraphs. I got quite a laugh out of it 😂

The best book in the series yet! All of the hints, all of the drama, all of the confict, it all starts to tie together in a way that will have you on the edge of your seat. The characters and world building are top notch. The conflicts are gripping and realistic. I would highly recommend this series to anyone.

The book was a rollercoaster with the end being a huge climax! Some things I felt were pointless (but maybe they'll be used next book) but otherwise it was a great read. I think, though, that too many POV's may be off-setting to some people, including myself so I would be aware of that. Some characters POV's I simply couldn't bring myself to care about since they weren't really our main characters, but were still a decent read.

Overall, I loved it despite this and cannot wait for the next book!!

Looking for fortunes, ending up cursed!

Amber and pack are at it again, up to their eyeballs in curses, politics, danger, angels, demons and anything but good luck and easy roads. This time around it involves Tommy's troll friends. Another strong book in this bitten wolf series by Stefanie Foxe!!!

Hadn’t read the first two books, but caught up quickly and really enjoyed how the Misfits found family and a sense in belonging with each other. And prove the wider magical/were community that pedigree isn’t everything, Family and self belief is!

When a cat isn't a cat

Great read! A few twists and we learn much more back story about the angels and demons. "Angel" has a heart and I like the dynamics between him and Amber. It's also nice to see Ceri come into her own in this one. Can't wait for the next one!

Go big or go home. We still haven't learned exactly why Amber was targeted to be bitten. Is it divine intervention? Or is she merely a pawn? This 3rd book heats up and it is recommended to read the first two books in the series to understand what is going on. Ms. Foxe does do a nice job of recapping the previous two books, but I still recommend reading this in the order it was published.

More information is coming out about these so called "Angelic" beings that everyone loves. And we also learn more about the Demons. This is an interesting interpretation from Ms. Foxe and I want to see where it goes. Because as many instances have shown, a pretty face or facade usually hides a cunning evil. It is all about perception and PR. I find this to be a delightful philosophical point brought out in this story.

So many times, people demand to be rewarded for their actions and merits... yet as a society as a whole, we tend to only look at things face value. So shallow... so vain and all about the sparkly pretty celebrities. We rarely look at what the person's actions. Is this Ms. Foxe's social commentary? Maybe, maybe not. I like it. Not sure if most readers will catch this point.

Amber and her unusual pack are still being targeted. They seem to always be at a disadvantage. Some of it has to do with the lack of contact and others has to do with lack of experience. I find it reassuring that Amber sticks to her moral compass and doesn't care what others say or do. I'm still a little mixed about her relationship with her mother and wonder if that will ever be resolved. Because her mother is a selfish and self absorbed bitch.

The action in this book keeps it a page turner. I immediately wanted to dive into the next book. Recommended to Urban Fantasy readers who enjoy politics, cutting through red tape and and a BAMF female lead.

Wow! “Misfit Fortune” is one very intense read. This time our favorite pack is under attack from every turn.

Our story begins with Amber and Gen attending the National Gathering of Werewolves. Every pack will be there and in addition Paul will be going through the trials to become Alpha. Once they arrive, certain Alphas make their disdain for bitten Alphas clear especially one named Carter and Ito. In fact they do everything they can to try to coerce a fight with Amber. However, she also meets an Alpha who knows about Shamans and has the potential to help her and Ceri.

Meanwhile, Deward has incited to pack to attend his manhood ceremony and Tommy is in for a surprise. Deward has claimed him as his brother and now wants Tommy to assist him on the first of his quests. Little do they both realize but this is about to open up a can of trouble that no one knows is coming.

Ceri is attempting an quest of her own but is frustrated when a biker psychologist gives her and Amber both a Tarot card that’s has the ability to follow people around harassing them until they get the intended message.

There is so much going on in this read that if you blink you might miss something of great importance. There are few lighthearted scenes because each pack member has a giant burden to bear. The question is will they forget to use their one true strength? If you are wondering what that is, the answer is they are invincible ‘together.’ This book is not to be missed in this series because you would miss out on a rare treat.

Superb! I’d give 6 stars if I could.

Book 1 was a solid 4*, with some great character building Book 2 earned a decent 5 stars, but Misfit Fortune has seen Stephanie Foxe really hit her stride.

What a brilliant book!

Exciting, fast paced, with more twists and turns than a ramen noodle!

The characters are full of life and believable. The story is so bloody good, and while each book has its own trials and tribulations for the Pack to overcome, the overarching storyline is finally becoming crystal clear and has my adrenaline up and eagerness to read on at an all time high.

What a fabulous instalment to this series. I would give this book 6 stars if I could.

The Cursed World 3

Ok so I have finished 3 books and I have to say I love them. There is a difference between bitten wolves and born wolves. The born wolves look down on the bitten wolves like Amber and her new pack. The pack has to learn how to be wolves as well as the ins and outs of pack life and laws. Amber makes mistakes but so would anyone else in her position. Stephanie Foxe has written a very exciting series and well written. I highly recommend this series to everyone who loves the Supernatural like I do. I also love the fact that the story isn't surrounded by a bunch of sex scenes. It is full of action and a strong character line up..

All hail, The Hale

I like the writing. The dialogue, the description, the background universe and the characters are great. There are interesting insights into all the members of the pack and a lot of background detail unfolds organically.

The politics are still deadly and with the exception of the pixies, the pack and the cat the supernatural community doesn't seem to be place much value in anything but self-interest. It feels sad and dark but just the way it should be. Am really liking this series.
