This step-by-step guide takes owners through the process of establishing successful bird-watching windows for the endless enjoyment of their cats - and without harming the birds on the other side!
It’s that time of year when we like to show those we love just how much we care by giving them a gift or two. But every year you face the same dilemma; what to get your feline friend who already has everything. Seriously, in my house we joke that our two cats live in the Kitty Hilton (or maybe even the Ritz-Carlton) and have all they need right at their paws. Fancy food, sparkling cold tap water, cozy and comfy beds, toys of all sorts, and a cat tree to lounge in and admire the view. Yet even with all the comforts of a good home, they often laze around and act like it’s just another day of the same old, same old.
So what better gift than one that provides hours of exciting mental stimulation and continually remains fresh and new? Establishing a bird-watching window will satisfy your cat’s desire for entertainment and amusement all in a safe, familiar environment. Everything you need to know to set up a successful bird-watching station is covered here. The contents cover creating a bird sanctuary, bird feeders, birdbaths, birdhouses, and bird Christmas trees. If you live in a high-rise apartment or somewhere where you’re unable to create an outdoor bird area, there’s even a short chapter on bird videos and bird songs.
This is actually a nice resource for anyone looking to attract more birds to their yard. After all, a bird-watching window doesn’t just have to be for cats. Position your favorite chair near that same window and you and your cat will be able to enjoy the birds together. I recommend you gift yourself this book and then in turn gift your local birds, squirrels, and rabbits a nice bird/wildlife sanctuary. Your cat will enjoy the new live action scenery just outside of paws' reach as they settle in to study and analyze these feathered foes and you too may find yourself enjoying a quiet contemplation of the animals both inside and out.
Terrific book on how to keep indoor cats entertained. I first bought it thinking it was a funny take on cats and birds - I have Why Cats paint and dancing with Cats, which are a real hoot - and thought this was similar. But it's not, its a fairly serious look at getting birds to feed and even nest near windows where your cats can see them. Boredom is a serious problem for inside cats, and can lead to them bveng destructive and even marking inside. This little tome offers a great solution. As someone who advocates ALL cats being inside - for their safety and for the wildlife's survival - it was a must have
