Venandi Chronicles #1
Demon Marked
Georgia
My goals in life were simple: become a nurse, get a regular paycheck, and call my own shots…
Taking a bullet to the head wasn’t part of the plan.
After spending my twenty-first birthday in a coma, I woke to find myself without a job, without a boyfriend, without a place to live, but in full possession of brand-new POWERS—powers I couldn’t control.
Which apparently makes me like catnip for demons...
After a nasty demon busted into my apartment, the mysterious Carter Black arrived hot on its heels to save my butt—and my soul.
Carter claims I must come with him to learn about the world of supernaturals and get some answers about what’s happening to me.
Even though his body is made for sin…that doesn’t mean I trust him.
But I need to learn to control these powers if I’m going to survive.
Because the demons won’t stop until they get what they want—whatever that is.
Carter
I can sense her power, the woman I’m supposed to keep an eye on.
That’s going to be a problem…
because I’m not the ONLY ONE who can sense it.
Demons are all about possessing power, so they’ll want her to join forces with them. If she tries to resist, she’ll be eliminated.
Admittedly, I didn’t expect to feel so drawn to her. There is something about this woman that stirs feelings inside of me that I haven’t felt in a long time.
But I can’t focus on that. I have a mission, and I need her to hear me out.
Joining others who can help keep her safe is her only option.
It must be her choice, but I pray she’ll come with me—not only for her own sake, but for everyone else’s.
Because if the demons ever get ahold of Georgia and her powers…
I’m not sure the rest of the world will survive.

"Demon Marked" by Sara Snow is the first book in the "Venandi Chronicles" series. This was a great start to a series. Sara is a new to me author, and I like her writing style. I was definitely feeling bad for Georgia as she was finding out that everything had changed in her life and that she was not who she thought she was. I was having all kinds of emotions reading this book, and the pages were quickly turning for me to find out what was going to happen next.

I couldn't finish the book, the characters were way too unlikable and unbelievable. The dialogue was ridiculous and didn't make any logical sense. There little to no world building. I would say there is nothing remotely interesting about this book.

Georgia & Carter are an interesting pair, and what brought them together is interesting in itself ... who knew being 21 could be so difficult?

It was okay
This story didn’t seem to go anywhere. Georgia would train, and say she could take care of herself, but then she had to be saved by Carter. It happened over and over again. She was prickly at the best of times, and after she had been saved, she lost all trust in everyone around her. Then she regained the trust, over and over again. She and Carter had a really weird relationship. It was like the author was trying to make them fall for each other, but at the same time have Carter try to teach her, and reprimand her. She threw little tantrums throughout the book, and it got tedious. The different types of demon in the book were hard to keep track of, and the descriptions of the different species were confusing.

Painful to read. At 84% I couldn’t stomach it anymore. It highlights everything that is wrong with self publishing: lack of talent and of “trade”. You might not have the first and still write something half decent, but when you don’t know how to write… ouch.
And here there really was nothing salvageable, plot, world building, characterisation but above all the writing itself. This is what a would be teen “writer” has in her dream/desk. But it should have stayed there.
I wonder if that “bestselling author” is a downright lie or what. Because my idea of bestselling is Ilona Andrews (and they are way far from the truly bestselling names out there, for all their talent..) But then this is trump era, isn’t it?

“Demon Marked” is the first bookinto the new “Venandi Chronicles” Series by Sara Snow. Venandi Chronicles, a captivating supernatural story featuring, demons, vampires, and horrible boyfriends, horrid really, the kind that abandons you into a coma and move into your former apartment with your best friend/room-mate, but wait there is more…. the looser even has a reason, after all you got robbed and shot in the head, is not as you expected the poor guy to wait for you, or did you. Georgia did and again didn’t, she is accustomed to life backstabbing, first foster care, then a period of ‘exploring lifestyles’ and trying temp employment for good size (spoiler, it did not fit), she has finally setting for nursing school and a graveyard shift at the local grocery store, not great but it pays the bills, and almost got her into the graveyard, the kind that is permanent. But Georgia is “stand-up” kind of girl, so she lives to enjoy the money, the looser got by selling out her things… yes, he did…. But forget about it, the real story is about to begin, starring Carter Black, DTHD (dark, tall, handsome and deadly)… self-appointed protector from those things that go bump in the night, and not he is not talking about grocery shop thieves with guns…. You are already hooked, good, you should but… you have to read the rest all by yourself…. Enjoy 😉
Sara Snow possess as fluid and funny written style that helps the characters come alive in every page captivating the reader with likeable characters, enjoyable settings, an interesting and easy to follow plot and an overall feeling of well-being in a magical NA world. Georgia is an amazing, no-nonsense character, a survivor with some unusual powers and a very healthy attitude against BS, the embodiment of a strong female which finds her way around the circumstances just because she has too, without over fussing about it..Another great Snow-Series.

I stopped reading around the 70% mark, I just couldn't take it anymore and didn't care about any characters. What could have been an interesting premise devolved a mishmash cliches and contradictory nonsense. The main character's personality is inconsistent. Sometimes she's mature and practical. Sometimes she's childish, stubborn, and little bratty. The love interest reads like a woman who knows nothing about men designed him. He falls in love with the main character having never actually met her, only that she's really attractive. Sorry Ms. Snow, men do know the difference between lust and love, especially if said male is over 70 years old like in this story.
Something else that got under my skin a bit is how near the end of the book, they fight a demon named Mammon. Mammon is the name of a Prince of Hell. In other words, a major biblical demon. he wouldn't be in a situation portrayed in this book. It would be like a Mafia Don hanging out in crack den.

Good
**Warning, Cliffhanger!”
This is an ongoing series, and the end of this book is a fairly big cliffhanger…
When Georgia survives a gunshot wound to the head, she doesn’t know that it is the beginning of a new life for her. In a blink, everything has changed, and not only is she introduced to a world filled with powerful beings, but she discovers that there is far more to her own past than she ever knew.
This is an urban fantasy/paranormal series, and introduces us to a dark world of evil demons and their various minions. With witches, vampires, and fallen angels to boot, it’s an intriguing world where good and evil collide and fight!
An enjoyable read for fans of UF and paranormal series.

Honest Review!
Ms. Snow asked for an honest review so I'm giving one. This story was pretty decent but I couldn't get past the plot holes and errors that would've benefited from a going over by a good editor. I finished the story so it kept me engaged but I do not really find a desire to continue the series. I try very hard to never give a bad review as I think writing to please the public is intensely difficult. I only write this one at the author's request. Please have a good editor look over this book and make a few minor adjustments. If you did this series would definitely deserve a higher rating.

WOW!! What an amazing start to a gripping and action filled supernatural series, where we meet our spunky heroine Georgia and our tall, brooding hunk Carter. Never being able to fit in is enough to drag anyone down but to Georgia, it just strengthens her resolve to stay from everyone, including her cheat of an ex Adam. Turning 21 brings more challenges than a mere human can handle but with friends made in unexpected circumstances, can she fight her way to being the independent woman she dreams of.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Just be warned this story ends on a cliff hanger. I knew that going in so I wasn’t surprised by it. I also feel like the brake work for the story. Georgia survives something that should have killed her but it unleashes a host of evil. Her past trauma causes her additional trauma because she’s not sure who she can trust. Carter and team trying to guide her but some missteps on their part only increase the threat. There is a lot of action and the story will keep you on the edge of your seat. #CMcon27

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

good start to a series
I got this as a kindle unlimited read and it’s pretty good for a first book in a series. I’m not overly amazed by the characters but they have potential. I’m also not a huge fan of alternating perspectives of characters but it works well for this book setup. I’m intrigued enough to dive into the next one.

Eh. Not for me
The synopsis for this book sounded great and I was looking forward to reading it. Unfortunately the book didn’t live up to the synopsis. I struggled to finish it.
The female main character is a *itchy, whiny, immature brat who acts like a child. The romance aspect was laughable and disappointing.
I won’t be reading any more of this series.

Demon Marked, the first book of the Venandi Chronicles series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). Meh, I had a difficult time finishing the book. I could never get engaged with the characters and Georgia acted to clueless. The plot had potential, but the female protagonist wasn't up for the challenge.

I absolutely loved this book! I love Sara Snow’s books in general, but I love that there’s so much action, creativity, & a budding romance. I can’t wait to see where Georgia & Carter’s story blossoms. Can’t wait for book 2!

Intriguing
It starts off a bit slow but gets more gripping. I'm not sure how I feel about Carter yet. Georgia feels like she'll be a badass once she gets into her groove. I need more of this series quickly!

Wow
I really enjoyed this book. The characters ducked me in. I found myself rooting for Georgia and hoping her life would finally work out but how can that happen when demons are after you?

An amazing first installment in a new UF/PNR series. I loved the world building and the plotline is truly caprivating. Set in the modern world, we have vampires, werewolves, angels, demons, witches... everything you can think of. I can't wait for the next installment!

Great start!
Great storytelling and interesting plot. Can’t wait to see how the story plays out. References to childhood trauma without too much description.

I’ll admit I liked the whole story. The characters as well. Georgie was ok, she’s a bit hot headed and very very obtuse. To the pint you want to smack her!

Intense and full of action! Georgia girl what did you get yourself into?!

The storyline seemed random and misplaced at times with holes in the general plot. This series isn't as well thought out as some of Sara's others.
