KHAOSI’m not living under any kind of false pretenses here. I know I’m basically a rapper’s attitude with R&B feelings and a pop star’s bank account. There were a lot of ways to describe my unconventional lifestyle of part time cult member and full time showman. Risk taker. Exuberant. And my personal favorite undomesticated. I surrounded myself with people who liked a good time but left after they served their purpose of making sure I felt nothing but top shelf feelings. I wasn’t about to be like my brothers who let the darkness eat away at their vindication. The only crime I had ever committed was waving the glory of being invited, of saying I came and conquered around like a badge of honor. Spoiler None of that earned me respect. There’s only one girl who managed to rob me of my fake smile… and my watch. GRACEI was a throw away, street trash, a child abandoned and scooped up by the bad people you only hear about after they get caught. I was hard in a way people found uncomfortable and determined too much work to rehabilitate into society again. I was found guilty over and over enough to let the bad things become who I am, blurring the lines between freedom and a jail sentence. Fraud. Thief. And my least fake girlfriend to a scary ass kingpin. Forced out of a childhood I was surrounded by darkness, evil, and the kind of cutthroat loyalty that landed your body so mutilated they wouldn’t be able to tell who you were if you fell out of obedience. They accepted me like family and there’s no quitting your family. I had the respect to match my rap sheet. There’s only one guy who managed to exonerate me… and my invisible wings.
Elena Monroe grew up in Florida scribbling down stories from a very young age. These stories were really just wavy lines filling the paper, but she knew each word, each emotion, each character's name, and there was no tricking her into forgetting what each line signified. Just like her unconventional way of writing as a toddler Elena is setting her own rules and just telling stories.
Much like her debut novel, The Best Years, life certainly imitated art. Transplanting from the South to the East Coast, Elena currently lives in Connecticut with her husband, reformed bad boy.

"Love isn't a choice. It chooses you, haunts you down, and drags you into another kind of cult..."
These books are getting better and better... Elena expertly writes stories who are unique, intriguing and are balancing between right and wrong... He characters are soooo complicating and still you can't not be captivated by them... I loved Grimm and even though, I didn't like Vic, I loved him too... Now, it was Khaos's turn and he was one of my most favorite characters in the previous books!!! Imagine how much I was anticipating his story and Elena delivered a unique, fucked up story who got under my skin!!!
"I always break my rules for you." "Just not the ones I want you to break..."
Khaos was trying to stand up on his name and to bring chaos in everyone's life and especially, his own... He was a man child always surroundied by people, he was partying hard and he was carrying everywhere his loyal skateboard. Khaos was saving his heart with some rules that he had set upon his personal life... And trust me when I'm saying that these kinds of rules were somehow crazy and absurb, but they were working just fine for someone like him...
"My demons were the life of the party. I didn't cope the same way they did: pleasure that looks like pain, losing that looks like winning, or dying that looks like living. Mine partied the noise away and fucked away the monogamy."
The truth is that Khaos wasn't who we were expecting him to be... Yep, he was irresponsible, wild and reckless, but he had deeper layers inside of him!!! He was just wearing a mask to shield himself from the prying eyes and to fool the rest of the people around him while they were interestimating him, including his brothers!!! Yes, Khaos was a fuck up, but he was so much more... Things that the others couldn't see, until Birdy came into his life and she saw behind his mask and his crazy antics and made him fuck all of his rules up...
"Instead of running or being afraid I built a cage around my heart and called it private property. I made sure no one trespassed, paid security to guard my heart, and still ended up obsessed with this girl right here."
Grace was her own brand of fucked up... She was a bird with a broken wing. She wanted to fly away, but she was forever bound into a life that she didn't want and ask for.... Grace was a prisoner of her past and present... Shee just had to go with the flow in order to survive... What she wasn't expecting was the chaos of some man child to wreak havoc upon her messed up life... He was just a job, until he became so much more than that!!! How is she going to survive this ugly fate that is stepping upon her dark path on this earth???
"He wanted to keep me caged and flightless with my wings melted down to lost hopes. It's hard to put someone back in their cage once they taste the power of flying."
"He held the ability to make me forget and transport me to some piece of paradise. That was dangerous because paradise was just a pair of dice in my world except when you roll and it's always unlucky."
I loved so much Khaos and his Birdy!!! They were two broken souls who in each other recognized their other half... Don't fool yourselves!!! This was a tough and wild ride full of bumps and unexpected turns, but maybe this time, these two fucked up kids manage to do something right and stick together to rain war around them... These two had too many baggages upon their shoulders and still they were trying to make the most of their lives good!!! They were fighters and they deserved each other, even with all the darkness that was surrounding them!!!
"Now I understood why he was constantly trying to be a living care bear surviving on rainbows and sunshine. He was so dark inside that it was the only way to fight it, being something you're not until it sticks."
"Birdy was one of a kind and all kinds of an antidote for every ailment I had."
"We were just two flightless birds trying to fly in ways that didn't need wings."
Khaos was an amazing character, even though he was nothing like the rest of the guys... His name was Khaos and he was bringing chaos everywhere he went... He was representing war, but he couldn't be more peaceful and in a way, that seemed strange, but still... Loved his big, broken heart and strange ways!!! As for Grace??? This girl was a badass and she was not backing down in anything. She was a warrior even with a broken wing and she never gave up on trying to fly... She amazed me in a way and i believe she was the perfect match for Khaos!!!
"I'm okay drinking the Kool-Aid for you."
"Sins... you taste like sins I don't want to be forgiven for."
I loved how things turned out in here, but I really have to warn you that this wasn't an easy ride and it is not a story for everyone. There were happening things in here that maybe will be offending for some people. So, proceed in caution cause you are about to be surprised of the lifestyle and the choices that some of the characters in here were living and doing... If you are like me and you are enjoying a good, dark challenge, just go for it!!!
"Love is a lot like pandemonium, always leads to a revolution and no one comes back from war the same."
And now, I'm dying to read Bowen's story!!! He was almost indifferent in the previous books, but I have this feeling that he will get under my skin... And of course, after THIS epilogue, I'd love to see a second generation series!!! Won't you??? Thank you, Elena, for another crazy ride... Your books are making my reality so much bareable!!!
"When I have a breakdown, don't sell tickets okay? It's a private show."{Bowen}
**An ARC was provided for the exchange of an honest review. Thank you, Elena!!! **
So this is not so much a in depth review, more like my purged thoughts. I'll tidy it up and make it make more sense closer to release day.
Trigger happy. If you've read any of the books in this series you will be aware of the triggers but especially this one. Just a warning.
Khaos is his namesake. Khaos by name Khaos by nature, did you expect anything less?. I had a feeling that this complex man would be a depthy mother fucker with many layers and I wasn't wrong. Looks and actions can be deceiving when your good at putting a face on and giving people what they expect to see not what's necessarily your truth. Throw people the superficial shiny over exaggerated surface and they don't tend to look for what lays beneath In the murky unpredictable drowning depths.
Broken sees broken. In all it's unpolished natural glory Khaos met his destruction in the female version of himself. A prisoner just like him but in different circumstances. They say karmas a bitch but I'm pretty sure Khaos enjoyed every bit of that chase.
Their love is all kinds of destructive and all consuming with the kind of baggage that threatens to choke you. It's not a pretty journey but somehow you laugh more than you cry because of the absolute ridiculousness of Khaos's antics and the way his Birdy manages to cut deep seeing beneath the surface and the farce he fronts. The dynamics of their relationship is truly fascinating and uniquely them. Their personalities complement eachother in a way that make it easy to understand why they fit together aside from the obvious attraction. These two very broken characters find a peace within eachother that is most definitely not the norm but for them it's a destructive kind of healing. The kind that makes a whole lot of hurt before it feels like freedom. But the endgame?. It makes every minute of the hurt worth it.
Khaos is a man child with bad impulse control and a tendency to need to dull the pain before it all consumes him but it does catch him up eventually and he pops off like a literal rocket. Birdy has clipped wings that tie her to a unforgiving lifestyle that's killing her from the inside out. The need for freedom overrides her moral compass every time. Until Khaos. They are both their very own brand of fucked up but when they meet you can feel that tangible connection. Almost like their broken reaches out to each other. Their journey is a angst filled passion fuelled messy rollercoaster of crazy. I laughed so hard!!. Probably more than I should of but Khaos's crazy just hit me right. It's frustrating, it's exciting, it's tension filled and at times so brutally raw it physically hurts. Everything about Khaos and Birdy was so wrong it was right. Their journey is not by any means your typical romance. In facts I'd go as far as saying it's a definite no go for some, HOWEVER!!! It's authentically them in all their messy glory. I mean common... you had to know anything that involved Khaos was never going to be clean cut right?. Well add in the female version of him who's not as hyper and you have yourself a lethal concoction right here.
I was SHOOK at some unexpected revelations. I rooted for these characters so hard and was completely consumed in the journey. The story it's hard hitting and fast paced but everything made sense without being rushed or having any added fillers to kill a few pages. It's a emotionally driven with characters that grow as their journey blossoms. They don't always get it right and their definitely not perfect but like I said above... they are authentically them in every way and I can't fault that because I'll take perfectly imperfect over unrealistic any day. Even if it's a hot mess. Elena just writes stories that demand your attention with characters that claw their way into your being. It's suspenseful and action packed and so fucking unpredictable I felt like I was having a damn breakdown. She is one of very few authors I'll read with this amount of angst...but somehow she manages to thread it through the story in a way that isn't so overwhelming to my senses but is still very present and impactful to the story.
Just loved this book and I knew I would from the first book in the series because his damage just called to me. Now I'm going to make a big ass prediction and say I have a feeling Bowen is going to be my favourite. So I'm claiming him now. Even before I've read his journey and know his story. He's mine.
Now I'm sad AF because I have to wait a lifetime for him.
I have been waiting for Khaos book since for ever, I thought I was ready for him, I was confident I knew what I was getting, well, now watch how all my perky attitude was wiped off my face...
Khaos isn't your typical asshole, alpha, dominant cult member, not at all! that's not to say he doesn't have issues, oh he has plenty to last a lifetime, they are also so strong and rooted only a rebirth could mitigate them, forget about solving them. Him not being what you would expect makes Khaos your not so typical hero that’s also what makes him so original, I'm not going to lie and say I wasn't upset I didn't get my coveted cave man kind of hero, I was mildly disappointed. But I have to give credit to Ms Monroe, she truly pushed my boundaries and made me see beyond my uppity attitude and learn to appreciate a different kind of hero. Most of the action happens in Khaos mind, and that, let me tell you it's like the scariest rollercoaster ever. It's easy to assume who Khaos is, he has perfected the art of giving what anyone wants and what is expected of him.
He was so dark inside that it was the only way to fight it, being something you’re not until it sticks
Grace is another heroine I fell in love with, after meeting Justice in the previous book, I imagined I would have liked Grace, well, again I was proved wrong, I worshipped Grace I fell head over heels in love and lust with her. Khaos really had no chance to survive this majestic force. Grace grew up with the acceptance that life can only bring pain, people will eventually hurt you and loyalty comes with a price tag attached. All she has ever wanted was freedom and a chance at life, little did she know all this would be found in the most unlikely place and with the most seemingly unfit person.
Every time I was free it escaped me. Every time I saw the light it was snuffed out. Every time I paid the price I never learned. Freedom was better in the abstract
What happens when a gang member gets tangled with a cult affiliate? Two opposite worlds, two different people, one is a ghost the other a punk, one mutual desire, a war in the making... get ready for the ensuing chaos.
Brace yourself for this unconventional hero and a badass heroine, a story of unruliness and disarray, freedom and chains, unexpected turns, warped minded people, lies and deceptions.
This story has triggers and warnings are there for a reason too, tread carefully but by all means proceed into Khaos...🖤❤️
The Sacrifice is the third book in The 4 Horsemen Series by Elena Monroe.
It’s imperative you read both books before reading this one. This wouldn’t make sense as a stand-alone.
The Sacrifice features Khaos. The chaotic, mess up, non-reliable member of the group. Khaos has mental health struggles for a plethora of reasons. His past being one of them. The actions of his past shaped the man he has become today. One that doesn’t fit in with his cult, his family, The Order of The Silver Ghost or the 3 other men he has to be partners with at Clave.
In the past 2 books we saw Khaos as the reliable friend who was always there to help Grimm or Vic figure out their relationship issues. Here, we see a completely different side of Khaos. He is perceived by the other members of the group as a screw up. A title, that he has embraces. He throws wild parties in his house in LA, invites anyone and everyone and has an on-hand supply of anything the guests could want to enjoy a wild night.
His team members feel he needs to grow up. Khaos was an unlikable character to me because his inner monologue made me dislike him. He was selfish, needy, always used everyone else to fix his problems and was essentially a fu** boy. All he did was whine and complain during most of this book.
Grace on the other hand, is a strong young woman who has been in and out of foster care her entire life. She ended up getting into trouble when she was younger. The only one she had to turn to bail her out was a well-known gang in her neighborhood. Grace has been a full-fledged gang member for quite some time however she is still a lovable, down to earth young woman who I very much liked. She is the responsible adult between the two of them.
As far as the relationship between Khaos and Grace goes this book had little angst or relationship development. It’s clear from the start Khaos has affections toward Grace bordering on “insta-love”. The climax and storyline involve dealings with The Order, the gang, and many other familiar faces we now know from books 1 and 2.
Yes, my Vic and Grimm make an appearance. That was one of the better parts of this book for me.
Clearly, I’m of the unpopular opinions here but I am going to be honest as regardless of how much I LOVE Elena Monroe and I LOVED the other two books, I honestly DID NOT LIKE this third one at all. I felt it was so dragged out with unnecessary fillers. Reading it at times made me angry. I was annoyed with Khaos and all the whining he did like a child.
The writing was extra dramatized to provide young angst in the form of metaphors which took up a lot of this book.
I wished the book could have been straighter to the point, less wordy teenage angsty metaphors about life and didn’t waste time with unneeded scenes.
I did enjoy some of the scenes between Grace and Khaos, however I don’t enjoy a hero that gushes over a heroine in the beginning of a book. I felt as though Khaos was chasing Grace for a period of this book which always bothers me in romance novels. I have a pet peeve with the guy falling in love right away and being obsessed with the heroine. It takes away from the thrill to me.
I wanted more cult as well. It just seemed to miss the mark on a lot of levels. The first 50% bored me. I found myself angry at Khaos and hating him based on how selfish he was. Also, I honestly kind of liked Dove’s character. I would totally read a book with sexy Dove doing all sorts of bad things to people with his bad self lol What can I say, I love a dark read with a strong cruel hero. Khaos certainly wasn’t that hero.
The story picked up towards the end when Grim and Vic came in.
Still, I really dislike Khaos, but I do think it’s important to read every book in the series. I didn’t like this book, but I would still read the next one as I am excited to see Bowen’s story. I feel bad saying all of this but I can’t lie as I wouldn’t want someone to NOT tell me important things that made me dislike this book.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
What happens when cult member Khaos meets gang member Grace?
Drama, violence, chemistry, deceit and a couple of WTF moments... I'm looking at you Ethan! Whaaaaat???
I've been intrigued by Khaos since book 1 and he was so much more than I was expecting. Totally not an alpha and I was here for it. He's impulsive, cocky, irresponsible and adorable. Like a chameleon he will switch to adapt to whatever situation he is faced with. Always pretending, playing a role, never being his true self. It took meeting Grace, to allow his true self to show. There was no hiding from her. She saw through his mask.
This is the perfect example of opposites attracting, personality wise. One is like a ghost, hiding in the background, trying to stay invisible and the other is, well, basically an attention whore. One has the strength, the other has not, one is loving and to the other that's a foreign concept with the shitty life she has lived. Together they find the perfect balance.
"I've always just been whatever the fuck you all needed: funny khaos, quiet khaos, the Khaos that pushes you right into love when you're too fucking blind. You don't see how much she means to me because you don't fucking see me. No one sees me. Except her."
This is the most emotional written book out of the series so far, because we aren't dealing with your typical alpha asshole. I think Vic still leads the pack with that title in this series and I ain't even mad. We get glimpses of the other couples throughout, a hint of Bowen, he's like a mystery to me, I have no fucking idea what to expect with his book next up.
Elena Monroe has completely blew this story away! From the phenomenal details dispersed throughout the story, to the incredibly deep and robust characters, to the unique storyline that had me wrapped around her writer finger.
Khaos and Birdy are EVERYTHING! I wasn’t sure how Elena would be able to top Grimm and Vic, and while I love them, they don’t compare to the intense love I have for Khaos and Birdy! Khaos has so many facets to his character. What looks laid back and irresponsible on the outside is full of complex sides that make for one intriguing character. And Birdy...I LOVE HER! She is so bada**, so tough, so loyal, and despite everything she has experienced, she has the capacity to love and be loved back.
“I wanna taste you so I know if you taste like sin or secrets.”
This story brought my to my knees. I was on a rollercoaster of a lifetime with this story. Khaos is one wild ride you don’t want to miss! Together, Khaos and Grace are the perfect storm.
“Love doesn’t care about faults, eventually you’ll love those too.”
“The Sacrifice” by @elenamonroewrites is a dark forbidden romance and the third book in The 4 Horsemen series, but can be read as a stand-alone🔥. AVAILABLE NOW ON AMAZON.
𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔: ★★★★/5
this series has continued to blow my mind in the best way possible and that is thanks to the magnificent author @elenamonroewrites😍. her writing and the atmosphere she places in her books is one of a kind🔥.
Khaos had once loved a girl who he thought was it. he saw from far distance a life beside her, children of their own. then she tore his heart out. Khaos hasn’t felt nor given love for anyone ever since and he believes he’ll never. until he met Birdy. with every continued encounter he’s drawn closer to her, feels an ounce more of himself resurface. but she’s not who he thinks she is...
as much as i’d love to tell you guys more i believe the less you know the better the experience😍❤️🔥
FYI if someone would ask me what character i’m most like from the four horsemen i would immediately answer with “Khaos”😂. after reading this, yup, he’s definitely my lost twin💀 (well... excluding a few things👀)
“Us wanting each other wasn’t subject to our gatekeepers giving us a thumbs up.”
I LOVED this book.
This book really grabbed a hold of me. I knew from the very beginning that Khaos’s book was going to be different from others, because he’s different and not your typical alpha male cult member. He’s reckless, lives worry free and has the least responsibilities. Grace is on another level of messed up. She’s a strong young woman who has been in and out of the system her entire life and as a full-fledged gang member she has gotten herself into some questionable situations. Yet she’s also relatable, down to earth, wanting to be a better version of herself and someone I really grew to like. I was constantly guessing and always wanting more. I thought I knew what was going to happen multiple times but was proven wrong each time. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give anything away, but I really loved this book. It was filled with drama, rule breaking fun and is like a modern day Romeo and Juliet with some different twists and turns. The drama, chemistry, and violence killed me and gave me all the feels.
“He was a mess, a beautiful one that was going to get me killed if I wasn’t careful with reality.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I’ve loved Khaos since the initiation and couldn’t wait to finally read his story and it was amazing. Him and Grace are so perfect for each other and I loved their story so much!
This story is not a fairy tale romance, this story is raw, angsty and full of character. Twist and turns, an emotional rollercoaster, a modern version of Romeo and his Juliet.
I was so intrigued by Khaos character in the beginning, but chapter by chapter his layers were peel and you see who Khaos truly was. He wanted to be seen and for him Grace was the only person who truly saw him.
Grace was a bird without her wings. She was a ghost in a society that never show her something good. Her choices were taken from her and she was force to do things she didn't want to do. When she met Khaos she felt emotion for the first time ever. He free her without even knowing.
"We're tragedy, not a mistake"
I love this story so much because by far these characters weren't perfect, they had sins but with each other they saw a slice of heaven.
Where do I even begin with this review!! This book is the third book in the Horsemen series and let’s just say this book soared. The ability that it had to be able to pull you in, grasp your whole attention and demand you listen to the story that is being told was mind blowing.
It was so damn good! I loved it so much and it was such a vibe! A vibe that was so different compared to the previous books. A vibe I was messing with.
This book was a league in it’s own, and it wanted you to experience every god damn moment of it until the very last words were said. Their were many highs and lows and these characters took them by the balls and just rolled with it. It was the only way how.
When these two characters meet, it was inevitable that they would end up together. You just knew. Every time they came in close proximity together, you can sense the connection, the chemistry that they have and it just intensified at every given moment.
The title sacrifice is the true meaning of this book, how we are willing to sacrifice our own lives to save others and the way that both Khaos and Grace would do this numerous times throughout this book was absolutely amazing.
They sacrificed a lot for their own survival for their relationship to work.
This book is a lot about survival and the things you’ve had to do to survive. That was a true representation of our character Grace and even Khaos.
Grace aka Birdy is just so damn special, she has built walls upon walls to protect herself due to her own story not being so easy. When she meets Khaos, you see the trust seeping in and those walls slowly breaking down.
Khaos was an absolute vibe! He is so different to the other guys which is sort of why he stands out above them all. He gives off such a playful, sweet, charming guy nature who is the life of the party and likes to be centre of attention. Khaos is another special character who is so broken and struggles with loneliness that you just can’t help but want to wrap him up and protect him. He deserves so much love and to be able to feel like he doesn’t need to hide anymore.
His character really broke me and I just wanted to cry and cry I did. He hurt my heart with how broken he was but as soon as he met Grace I knew that he was going to be okay. Like really be okay and I was content with that.
There is so many layers to this book with the characters speaking with high volumes. The layers being the characters and their complicated life’s that they have aside from their little love bubble that they have created with each other. Grace and Khaos are literally one soul and are just so perfect together.
There were many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming but a main one in particular to do with Grace story was one I definitely saw playing out from the very beginning.
Once you’re in a gang there is no way out. Blood in-Blood out. The only way out is in a body bag or selling yourself to the devil.
Watching all that unfold and everything else was a roller coaster ride of emotions. Emotions hit many different levels throughout and at one point I wasn’t even sure if these two people that are so in love that their love was going to be strong enough to overcome it all.
Lies, and Secrets were being thrown everywhere like a bomb waiting to explode. The explosion was brutal yet needed for these characters to overcome, survive and find their happily ever after as everyone deserve it.
They will do anything for love and I just loved that. Ahhh this book seriously I could keep going and going with how much I loved it. It’s a book that you definitely need to pick up and read.
The ending of this book gave me life as we may be getting ready to say goodbye to this series with one more book left, it’s opening doors for a second generation of the horsemen kids to come on through and tell their stories.
I am living and breathing for this series and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next for our man Bowen.
Thank you Elena for giving us Khaos and Grace Story.
OMFH I m still in the hangover after finishing this book, gosh Khaos live up to his name but not only just that there is so much to his story-to them Khaos and Grace his birdy I still can't get over it. Their story goes like high tide waves I love how Khaos character develops how vicious wild chaotic reckless he was. Every word to describe him is less but at the same time he was hiding behind his perfectly placed mask and there was so much to him than just being a wild person, his heart was soft but he keeps it protected. And Grace was broken vulnerable but at the same time so much stronger I love her. EVEN with whatever she went through her character was so so strong. I love the chemistry between Khaos and Bridy there was so so much Hotness and wild chemistry between them and Epilogue just left me to want all the books coming NOW.
I always had a soft spot for KHAOS and this book just cemented that. I loved this book so much and it was extremely addictive. Grace and KHAOS’s love story was perfect and they are definitely one of my top couples. Can’t wait to read the next one!!
Never a disappointment, Monroe knows how to give me characters that I can’t help falling for, and Khaos and Birdy are no different. I thought I knew what I was getting. Jokes on me, because I didn’t have the vaguest clue, and they were so much more. It did take me a few chapters to really get into, but overall, this one is another hit.
"Love doesn't change you, it brings the strongest people to their knees and that kind of humbleness has a way of making rough edges smooth."
I knew Chaos would make real chaos, but literally in everything ?! ... in his life, the lives of others (including me) and Elena has done a great job with this book.
Although for everyone else, Chaos is frivolous, unruly, debauched, a real partygoer with a debauched lifestyle - it is actually a mask that everyone sees and that he created while protecting himself from real life. Until she came. His Grace ... the only letter in the alphabet that was forbidden .. He was just a job for her until he became much more .. the only person who made her feel like she was flying. - "free is never that simple, there's always strings and a price to pay."
I have to admit that this is the best book so far in this series. Although Grimm still remains number 1 - Chaos will share this place with him. They are so different, and yet so similar, that I cannot dethrone one of them.
And the Epilogue... Elena is it possible we could get like extended Epilogue?! - with Mayhem and Daisy's story?! With Chaos as his father and Grimm as her father ... these children will be the next generation of the secret society - the Clave - and it would be amazing to see their story...
And now we have to wait for Bown's book to come. Why is it seems to me that he will create even more confusion in my ranking...
The way Elena writes is amazing. It draws you into the story and there is no stopping.
Khaos and Grace, two people who belong to different worlds and yet are very similar. Khaos, a hedonist; Grace, a "prisoner". What starts out as a simple mission takes a winding path. They are supposed to be enemies but neither of them can avoid the impending attraction. Khaos is a complex man who enjoys excesses and the disruption of order. Anarchy lover, free from emotional ties, wild and rebellious. Khaos in every sense of the word. He has no rules but he has a list of things to avoid... until Grace arrives. She is intelligent, tenacious but her freedom to some extent is conditioned. A prisoner of her past with repercussions in the present, a bird with broken wings. The connection with Khaos is immediate and inevitable. Two broken souls that find comfort in each other. Grace brings out the best in Khaos and he motivates her to free herself from the chains that keep her from flying. They are two people who within anarchy and chaos find the peace they need and can be themselves when they are together. Two halves of a puzzle that fit together perfectly.
The Sacrifice (The 4 horseman #3) Author: Elena Monroe
Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Heat: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Khaos!!! I am destroyed in the best way. Just when I think Grimm wrecked me, here comes Khaos like a wrecking ball to my heart. The little glimpses we get from him in the other books, do no justice to the complex and broken man we get to know in The Sacrifice. He is funny, carefree, dark, jaded, broken, thoughtful, selfish... so many things all wrapped up in one beautiful package.
Grace and Khaos are from two totally different worlds but their realities are more similar than either of them realizes. Both a slave to to different things. Passion and chemistry runs hot while secrets just pile up. I could see plain as day as I was reading that everything that was happening would blow up and it wouldn’t be pretty... and all I could do was hold on for the ride. What a ride! There is just something about getting lost in a world with no consequences.
The Horseman books just keep getting better and better. This group of hard to love, broken bad boys completely own me. I am already jonesing for more and I can’t wait to see what Bowen does to me.
* arc has been given to me for an honest opinion OKAY ...... OKAY let's go let me start off by saying I LOVE THIS BOOK, now that we have that out of the way>>> First, I loved the plot and storyline and the plot twists, you would this because this is the 3rd book in the horsemen series it's going to be similar, I WAS WRONG, it was different, Khaos was a brand of his own, he had his story and it's was very different, he had the heart of a child with the midset of a gangster and the face of an angel !! Grace, there is no Khaos without Grace and no Grace without Khaos, they were the perfect match for the wildest storm, they were water and fire, yin and yang, two pieces of the same coin, their love was beautiful and heart-warming <3 Like always, Elena Monroe takes you to another universe while reading her books, I wish I could somehow teleport to their universe and just be a fly on the wall, that's how good her books are. Anyways, I would definitely 100% recommend this masterpiece <3 BUT of course go read the first two books if you want to find out how the story really started with the AMAZING, the one and only GRIMM, and then continues on with the lovely pain in the ass Victory. I seriously cannot wait to have Bowen's book in my hands because I know for a fact IT'S GOING TO BE AMAZING.
This book was not at all what I was expecting but in a good way! I’ve been dying for Khaos’s story and Elena didn’t disappoint not at all ! Khaos and Birdy (Grace) are probably my favorite couple out of these characters I’ve probably said that with all of them but these two surprised me in the best way . They took us on one chaotic ride of emotional roller coaster the twists and turns the pain the angst the sexual tension between these two holy hell was it hot ! I’m obsessed with this world and characters that this author has created. I love the darkness that is in this series it’s intense gritty bloody and steamy but also a perfect balance of dark and light bad and good . And wow that epilogue at the end was literally EVERYTHING! I’m itching for Bowen’s story next I know his is going to be epic !
Khaos is a horseman that I have been looking forward to ever since I read Grimm’s book, The Inititation. Hearing about his past really makes you feel for him, especially when he tries to hide it behind the facade he puts up as well as the girls, parties and drugs.
Grace (little birdy) was such an entertaining character. I love how her and Khaos got along right away. She was tough and head strong which as always for me is an admirable trait.
And now for the story...
I literally was in love with every minute of this book. From the partying to the shady stuff happening with the clave, it’s never boring. I also loved the little glimpse we got into Bowen because let’s be real, we’re all dying for his book. Elena’s writing as always was spectacular and she never disappoints. This book series is by far one of my favourites of all time and I can’t wait to read more from this universe. The extended epilogues were also so great. I loved getting to see their far future, it really gives a little extra to that HEA.
3 stars (received an ARC in exchange for a review)
Feeling a little sad becuz i was excited for Khaos book their was too much unnecessary fillers and plot points yes I did catch myself laughing at certain moments I was kinda bored. I did enjoy Grimm's scenes for being the Reaper he's such a good friend and parent. This book like all in this series are violent, full of lots of drugs and sexual moments. Let's see what Bowens Book/storyline is like becuz the bit that we got in this book we know he's also pretty messed up due to his past.
This was another fantastic addition to the series. It was everything I was expecting and everything I wasn't (in a good way). This book seemed to take on a life of it's own with both length and depth. Both main characters had so many layers & shields that at times made it feel like you'd never get to the core of them. You'll be run through a gamut of emotions over and over that'll have you not knowing whether you want to throw your kindle or white knuckle it.
First l need to say l have loved Khaos through out this series! The Sacrifice WOW l'm loss for words what can I say you need to read Khaos and Grace's story it had everything! Amazing ending! What will Bowen bring us??
::Khaos and Grace:: “𝙇𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙞𝙩 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙢𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙝.” ⠀ ⠀ 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 is the third book in “The 4 Horsemen” about Khaos, truly his namesake and your unconventional hero that’s part of a cult and Grace, just a badass heroine and gang member. Two very different worlds but their realities are very similar. I’ve been waiting for his story and I thought I was ready for him. Nope. I wasn’t. Such a complex book with several layers. It was a chaotic ride of twists and turns and passion and chemistry. And the epilogue was everything. ⠀ “𝙄 𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙠, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙙. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙧𝙪𝙣, 𝙄 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙨𝙚. 𝙄 𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙙, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙙. Absolutely love the creativeness of this series! Khaos meets his match in Grace. What happens when the gang life meets cult life? A lot of drama, lots of lies and a lot of violence. This book is full of it! I do like the Khaos isn’t the bad boy who takes no crap top dog type personality. He’s the let me fit the mold I need to be in kid who isn’t as violent as his co-horseman. The non alpha male person truly gives this whole book a different feel that works amazingly. And seriously wtf Ethan! This book has a much more emotional element to me. I love seeing how the characters tie together other out being known to each other and how even the bad guys aren’t so bad. I wanted to cry for these characters but also to laugh with the craziness that is this pair. It’s a keep you on your toes, blend up your heart but leave you with a smile read!
after my binge of this series - i can honestly say, this book broke me in all the best ways. The story was rich in character growth, all the emotional heartache that comes with falling in love - this story was hard to read. emotional. heart wrenching. beautiful!! Elena’s writing really shines in this book & i LITERALLY CANT WAIT FOR BOOK 4?? i need bowen asap please.
anyway, i’m being vague to avoid spoilers 😜
read this series, dark romance fans. it’s a loooot, but oh so good.
thanks to the author for an arc!! all thoughts are my own.
Oh, Khaos. Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Krosby Henry Arthur Otis Sebastian the 6th is something else entirely. Chaos is as Khaos does.
The complexities of his character make him so much more than just the fun loving playboy that you see upon first glance. He is the master of putting on a show so you only see what he wants you to see, that is, until Grace comes along.
Grace and Khaos are complete opposites personality wise, but she sees through his façade from the very beginning and the connection between them is imminent. Their chemistry is tangible even upon their first meeting and neither one of them are able to forget about this encounter. Especially Khaos- shocker. Like he could ever let anything go…? I think not. The beginning of their romance is definitely more of a cat and mouse chase since Grace is resisting his charms for both of their sakes. She has a very dark and dangerous lifestyle that could get them both killed if she were to give into his advances. But, alas, even the most strong-willed ladies like Grace can't say no to Khaos for too long... I mean, come on now!
I have been crushing HARD on Khaos since Book 1 and now I am officially swooning for this hottie. Khaos may be needy, irresponsible, easily distracted and impetuous- pretty much the definition of a man child. But, there is so many layers that make to him that have you questioning if you ever even knew him at all (his prologue will give you a glimpse of this). And OH BOYYY does he make up for any of his negative qualities with his abundance of positive ones. He had me literally laughing out loud throughout this entire book and maybe it's just me, but laughing makes my clothes come off... so there's that. ;) LOL. He's an extremely sensitive, affectionate and doting romantic who will go out of his way to make the people around him feel special and wanted. He knows what he wants and will do anything to get it, even if his pride takes a bit of a hit in the process. And I'm not going to spoil the epic ending, but I'm just going to say that he’s a fucking drool worthy badass who everyone has been underestimating for a very long time. If I could put in a special request for my wet dreams it would be for him to arrive wearing that red suit and bandana, in all his shirtless and tattoo filled glory like he did in the last couple of chapters. MeOw.
If you read Book 2 (which you fucking should have… Vic is everything, don’t skip that alpha) then you already got a preview of Grace since she is friends with Justice. Grace has her own slew of issues (one of which was hinted at in Book 2), but the biggest one being that she is a caged bird in her life which really isn’t hers at all and never has been. She’s been locked in this proverbial cage since she was a teenager and there is no way out, well, besides death. Her moral compass is a bit askew because of her upbringing and her walls are built higher than high until she meets Khaos. She is one of my favorite female characters because of the fact that she is NOT your average feminine hot blonde surfer/skater girl (girl version of Khaos with those hobbies) who’s playing hard to get. Nooooo no no mam! I found her to be extremely unique compared to so many other heroines because of her strong but quiet personality. She doesn’t crave approval from anyone and she challenges Khaos to be himself without the fake smiles he’s so talented at doling out. She is fierce, brave, and doesn’t give a fuck what you think about her. As the story progresses, you see her walls coming down (thanks to Khaos) and realize just how soft she is on the inside. She is loving, caring, and all she wants is to be happy for once in her life which she will risk everything for. As different as she may seem from Khaos in regards to their personalities, they still complement each other remarkably well because their insides are so similar. They really are the puzzle pieces that the other’s heart was missing and I truly believe they are made for each other. Also… they are just so freaking HOT together. The steam is perfection and the chemistry between them is undeniable because it comes from their souls, not just from their bodies. In every steamy scene, even the first one, something is there that has nothing to do with sex at all.
As light as Khaos is… this story is still very dark. Be warned that there are some triggers and also some scenes that will definitely leave you feeling very uncomfortable. The journey for this couple is bound to be a difficult one from the very beginning, but their happy ending makes every struggle well worth it. I was rooting for them from their first interaction, the tension was palpable and it doesn’t disappear once they are finally together. They both save each other not only physically, but emotionally which makes their love story that much more impactful and satisfying. Elena does an amazing job at weaving sweet and light hearted moments with very dark, raw and tension filled moments which will keep you on your toes throughout their story. You will go from laughing one minute, to being turned on the next, to cringing HARD, to wanting to yell or cry, and back to laughing again. I felt every emotion while reading their story and I personally think that is a huge feat when writing dark romance.
Once again, this book allows us to see into the other characters' lives as well which I honestly cannot get enough of. I love seeing the futures play out of every character involved from the first book onward, it's rewarding. Also, the epilogues were perfection as they always are in every Elena Monroe read.
This series just keeps getting better and better. I have loved each Horseman more and more with each book that’s been released and I’m not quite sure how I’m ever supposed to pick a favorite. How are all of these men my type? It’s craziness!
Some of my favorite quotes:
I swear I could feel his voice smooth over my lips like lip gloss and all I wanted was to swipe my tongue over the stickiness of it just to taste him. – Grace
I didn’t want to commit her to memory but leave her fingerprints on my soul. –Khaos
Luckily she’ll think dirty hands are equally as hot as my currently baby soft ones. –Grace
He was a care package meant for every broken girl who was never taught to love. –Grace
“Her ass was taunting me, soaking wet in a skin tight suit, propped up on the edge of the pool served up for me to worship like it was Sunday and I was a holy man. I was anything but holy.” -Khaos

This is the first time I’ve ever started writing bits in my notes for this review, because I just needed to get some thoughts out while I was still reading the book. There were so many snippets in this story that would normally not be my vibe and I usually would just not finish and move on, but not with this one. Elena kept me trapped in her little wicked web of this book. 🛹🛹🛹🛹 Khaos is a whole other feel to the other horsemen, he is in a nutshell as his name implies. A happy-go-lucky guy who is a ray of sunshine. He’s probably the most likeable out of all the horsemen, but he is a little messed up, with deep rooted scars. Birdy / Grace is an outcast who accepts a rough life, rocks it and doesn’t expect to be treated highly. I felt heart-sorry for her throughout the story just kept thinking WAKE UP HUN. She even justifies reasons why she gets treated like shit, it’s not okay. The romance between the two lead characters is a slow but sure burner. 🛹🛹🛹🛹 This is I’d say a dark romance, with serious erotic moments. Like seriously, I was reading some scenes absolutely heating up like an inferno. If you like vanilla sex scenes with lots of love and kisses, maybe skip this one because this isn’t vanilla. This explores lots of different avenues that were executed perfectly. 🛹🛹🛹🛹 To sum up this review I thought this book was super complex, it had so many layers and it really was written amazingly. It was hard to pick a quote cause I highlighted so much. But I think Bowen is my man and I’ve waited long enough for him.... so I’m starting my ARC of him ASAP 🥰 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
