Nick Drake: Remembered for a While

Rate this book
The authorised companion to the music of Nick Drake, compiled, composed and edited by Cally Callomon and Gabrielle Drake, with contributions from Nick's friends, critics, adherents, family and from Nick Drake himself.

Remembered For A While is not a biography. It is, rather, an attempt to cast a few shards of light on Nick Drake the poet, the musician, the singer, the friend, son and brother, who was also more than all of these. We hope it will accompany all those in search of an elusive artist, whose haunting presence defies analysis.

Essentially this is a coffee table book but I read it over a long period of time, every word, from cover to cover. I will probably start at the beginning again. It is a beautiful book on so many levels. Visually it is stunning. I particularly loved the retrospective, detailed and thoughtful reviews of Nick’s albums which were largely ignored on their release. Correspondence between Nick and his father Rodney along with the latter’s diary entries detailing Nick’s decline were particularly moving.
