Office Hours #1

Extra Credit

Rate this book

Two years ago, he was a one-night stand.

Now he’s my professor—and he hates me.

When I dragged Gideon Warwick into a bar cloakroom, I never thought I’d see him again. I figured we’d have fun. Blow off some steam. Then move on with our lives, with nothing but memories.

Yeah. Turns out I’m a grade A fool.

Because I do see Gideon again—at the front of a lecture hall.

This time, he’s not smiling. This time, he glares. This time, he wants me out of his sight.

Well, too bad for him, because I need those credits. My future is on the line.

The professor is gonna have to play nice.

Extra Credit is a steamy professor-student romance and the first book in the Office Hours trilogy. Contains mature language and content.

”He knows me. Maybe he doesn’t know all my details yet, but he knows my soul. My shadowed places and my fears.”

I love a good student/teacher romance. This one wasn’t my favorite. I felt it left some of Lucy’s issues just hanging out there unresolved. It also made Gideon’s brother’s death seem like a very big deal but didn’t really go into much detail about it. Beside’s that there was really no lead up to them falling in love. It fell short for me even as an insta-love. After all the things I just said I felt were wrong with it I admit it was an okay read. Mostly, it was a good introduction to the next two books in the series that I enjoyed much more.

This book was actually really good for it being so short. I had read another professor/student book before this which BLEW so I was a little skeptical to read another by an author I never heard of but it didn’t disappoint. The book was well written and the story flowed making it a really easy read. I even found myself tearing up when Gideon’s friends basically turned their back on him. Im kind of miffed they each get their own book but I’m also glad they are going to land flat on their asses after falling in love with a student so then can see how terrible they treated Gideon. Anyway, the only thing I would have liked to see was more build up to them falling in love. There is really one a couple encounters of them together and I wish we could have seen how good they were together but still it was a good book. I will definitely read the next one and more by this author.

I was waiting for this book after reading Off Campus and it didn't disappoint. Lucy dropped out of Gideon's class two years ago when she realized who he was - the man she hooked up with in a coat room at a bar. Now she needs the class so she can graduate and has to get him to sign off on it. Two years has not been long enough for her to forget how much she wants Gideon, but he apparently doesn't feel the same way. He grudgingly signs her permission slip and she flees his office.

Gideon has not stopped thinking about Lucy for two years. He has practically stalked her every move on and off campus. When she dropped his class he felt somehow betrayed, though he knew it was stupid. Now he has to figure out how to keep his focus with her in his class. Nope, not possible.

Will these two manage to find a way to keep the professor- student relationship intact, or is Gideon doomed to lose his job over their relationship - such as it is? Hmm...

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

This was a super hot novel! The chemistry between Gideon and Lucy was steamy sizzling hot whenever they caught sight of each other. You can practically see the longing and want between them! Since we are dealing with a Professor-Student relationship, this story has a lot of angst and you can't help but want them to somehow be together as they are both such likeable characters. I thought this book was entertaining to read.

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again: every word Kayla writes really is magic and have you glued to the pages until the very end.

This short teacher/student story is really good. I loved Gideon and Lucy so much!
Even the secondary characters are well described.

Extra Credit is the first book of a trilogy. It can be read as a standalone because the next book is about another couple.

I received an arc of this book and this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Oh I liked this book... I liked it a lot. The sizzling connection between Gideon and Lucy. So connected they can feel the presence of each other. They each border on obsessing about the other but she’s his student so it’s totally forbidden. This book was so well written and with terrific characters. I’m already looking forward to the next book in this series of connected standalones.

This is a fun, steamy but relatively quick read. The combined elements of enemies-to-lovers and student/professor tropes bring this story to life.

Lucy and Gideon have a torrid past. And how they handle it significantly effects their future.

Gideon and Lucy try to stay away from each other, but something clicked on that night they first met. They have amazing chemistry. This book contains passion, chemistry, drama, and two people learning to trust in what they have together.

I was expecting this to be a little smuttier, but it really wasn't. I don't like knowing about past partners, and really didn't need to know about the FMC's habit... even if it was more alluded to than outright told. I also felt we should have known a few specifics about Harry's departure since he seems to be the impetus of the MMC's actions.

Interesting

I thought this might be like so many in this genre. I was wrong! There is a sensitivity to this story that draws you in and the very real dilemma the characters face. Well worth a read!
