Cursed: Out of Ash and Flame

Rate this book
Dying every day sucks. As a phoenix, I’m no stranger to the cycle of death and rebirth, but there’s nothing normal about this curse.

It sure does make bounty hunting a bit easier though. If I die on the job, I come back after just a few seconds good as new, something I’m definitely going to need now that I’ve taken on this new mark.

Max is charming, smooth, and like all bounties, insistent on his innocence. More frightening is the kindness I’m sure he’s using to manipulate the situation. He’s starting to see me, the real me, and I’m catching feelings when I’m supposed to contain him.

I’m all set to deliver him up to a powerful member of the Paranormal Tribunal, who might be able to help me remove this curse. When I realize Max is definitely telling the truth, however, I have to decide whether to help him clear his name.

If I don’t, Max will die for a crime he didn’t commit, but if I do, I’ll lose my place in the Bounty Hunter’s Guild, and possibly destroy my last hope of breaking my curse.

E.C. Farrell never met a book she didn’t like. (Just kidding! Though she’s not going to bad-mouth the ones she couldn’t finish, she is still mad about the end of Hunger Games Trilogy - RIP Prim) She likes her characters sassy and her endings surprising. Fluent in sarcasm, she has also studied Krav Maga and could out-burpee you any day of the week. When she's not writing, she often teaches creative writing classes for a local non-profit organization Write Create.

(4.5 stars) - The curse of unending mortality

Wow, even better than the first book in the series!  EC Farrell always writes such great heroines, & I love the unusual premise of this book!

I wasn't sure I would like Max, as what little we see of him in the first book doesn't tell us much, beyond his, um, seductively attractive nature, but this won me over to him completely.

Still, it's Fee who really makes the story. She's been cursed in a way that she has managed to make work in her favor to some extent. She's a great main character - a strong, smart, take charge butt kicker - but she's also smart enough to get help when she needs it.

I could NOT put it down & zipped right thru it! This is going on my list of favorite paranormals & is definitely one that I'll be reading again

[This is the 2nd book in the Cursed series, & while it's not absolutely necessary to read the 1st before this one, I recommend it as it will give you a fuller understanding of the world & characters]

*Romance level: passionate kisses, nothing graphic; though there are paranormals that have a seductive power over humans, which does cause things to get a little spicy at times, the author does a truly impressive job of keeping things clean

Another fantastic tale by the lovely E.C.Farrell found its way to my kindle as yet another book that was hard to put down!

Fee the phoenix /bounty hunter who is cursed to die everyday at midnight (unless she's killed on the job that is, then she can sleep like a normal person later!) takes over the job of getting Max the water spirit to the collection point.... should be an easy job right?! Pfftt yeh right! With every other imaginable bounty hunter on their heels, Fee and Max are in a race for their lives. And, just to add to the pressure, Fee isn't convinced Max is guilty.

A wonderful mix of action, suspense, a blossoming friendship and a touch of the feels, E.C has given us another story that will keep you entertained from the very first page.

Wow! What a ride! This book is so full of magic and action there is never a dull moment!
Cursed: Out of Ash and Flame is the second book in the Cursed series, but can be read on its own. In fact, I haven’t read the first book yet, and I had absolutely no troubles following along or understanding what was happening. I will say however, that it definitely makes me want to go back and read the first book, just because I want to know more!
I was super intrigued when I read the books’ blurb and was not disappointed! Fee is a Phoenix working as a bounty hunter, cursed to die everyday at midnight (unless she gets herself killed on the job). Max is a water spirit who has a bounty placed on him for a crime he didn’t commit. With several paranormals of all different types coming at Fee and Max for several different reasons, it’s a constant race against time and a struggle to stay alive! There is actually so much that goes on in this book that it’s impossible to even put into words! I highly recommend reading this book so you can find out for yourself just exactly what I mean! ;)

Wow. My goodness. If I thought book 1 was good, book 2 is awesome. This follows Fee , a Phoenix with a curse and she is also a bounty hunter. We follow her action packed journey which , in part, involves her quest to remove her curse. Connection is made with characters from book 1. So it’s once again an easy flow to the story. One that you simply can’t fail to be drawn into.
Plus there is the bonus of romantic moments but you’ll have to read to find out.

The book is intoxicating, but in a good way.
Definitely not to be missed.

I picked this up have read the first in the series and adored it. The second one called out to me and I had to know what more was going on in this world. I ended up telling myself that I would only read one chapter and got all the way to ten before I forced myself to sleep, and then jumped right back in this morning. The characters are relatable and engaging, the world beautifully crafted and the creatures from a wide array of options. I adored this book, and loved the way things turned out along the way. Overall, a great read and one that I highly recommend!

OMG 😆❤️‍🔥loved this book.. love ❤️ the author…Fee has been cursed in a way that she has managed to make work in her favor as a bounty hunter. She's a great main character - a strong, smart, take charge butt kicker - but she's also smart enough to get help when she needs it. Loved 🥰 Max…. He was definitely a trip..

I could NOT put it down and will probably regret in 2 hours when my alarm goes off for work !!!

Fee is a Phoenix and a bounty hunter, cursed to die everyday if she isn’t killed working.
Max is a Water Spirit with a bounty on his head.
When Fee takes over custody of Max temporarily things get tricky. Max is innocent but because of his mother he is being hunted by every bounty hunter imagined in the supernatural world.
This book was great. Full of action, insecurities, romance and strong friendships.

What an amazing sequel. Feisty, strong characters, action-packed from start to finish, this was one wild ride for me. Although it is the second in the series it reads well as both a standalone and a sequel. Great story, looking forward to what comes next!
