The Stagecoach Daddies #1

I Can't Be Your Daddy

Rate this book
Rose can’t marry. Travis can’t commit. What happens when they fall in love?

Rose Pascal is the only schoolteacher in the little town of Stagecoach, Nevada, in 1871. There are some significant drawbacks: a strict dress code, large class sizes, few resources, and no association with men is allowed. One day, she’d like to have a home and a man of her own. A man who would love and take care of her, like her Daddy did before he died.

Travis Stern is a well-educated professional turned horse rancher, who has been unlucky in love in a big way. He’s broken conventional norms, in fact, by divorcing his wife. He now makes his home with his six-year-old son and has no intention of marrying again. The townspeople of Stagecoach have strong feelings regarding his lifestyle, but his life is his business and taking care of his son is his priority.

This is book one in the Stagecoach Daddies series and can be enjoyed independently with a Happily Ever After.

Publisher’s Note: This historical western romance contains elements of adult themes, sensual scenes, and power exchange. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase.

I began writing for publication at age seven, when a poem I wrote was printed in a children's magazine. A long time went by before I wrote seriously.

These days, I live in the desert with my husband who is also my best friend.

Things to note: my books are all romances, because they are about people falling in love and living happily ever after. They also have quite a bit of erotic/adult content, so be ready for the spicy stuff.

Enjoy!

This story moved along at a good pace and was an enjoyable read. I did feel sorry for Rose, she loves her job as a teacher but had to put up with restrictions and prejudices. Travis Stern, too was looked down on by some in the town, as he was divorced. Travis and Rose have an immediate attractions but one of the rules for her keeping her post, is not to have any relationship with a man. Rose also has problems with her family. Travis is a little wary of a new relationships, given his previous experience. This was an entertaining read and I will look out for more by this author. I received a copy via Booksprout and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

HEAVENS TO BETSY

The story is the first in a new series, The Stagecoach Daddies. While it has the talk of him calling her Baby, he doesn't want her to call him Daddy. I would not call this a Daddy Dom/little girl story; it is language only and not dynamics. The story does have power exchange, dominance, and submission.

Rose Pascal, twenty-one, is the school teacher in Stagecoach, Nevada. She escaped home at seventeen, went to college, and has been teaching for two years. The town of Stagecoach has some very pretentious people who enjoy dictating rules to others. The town's teacher may not associate with men and must be above reproach.

Travis Stern is a man with a shady past—a divorced man raising his six-year-old son, Scotty. Leaving his life and career as a dentist in Sacramento, California, he now owns the Lazy S ranch where he raises horses—and his racehorses are in demand.

The plot will have Rose and several girlfriends talking about Travis Stern, but Rose can't stop herself, she boldly walks up to him at the mercantile and introduces herself. There is chemistry between these two from the moment they meet, and while he is older than her, he is just as enamored as she is.

"Rose knew she should stop feeling and start thinking. It was so hard. He reminded her of the time before her daddy died, when a man was strength, security, love, not dangerous and hurtful."

The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly—addictive, seductive, and intoxicating. It is a quick read with interesting characters and has a touch of mystery, suspense, danger, and passion. The story falls under instant love, instant passion, and taking risks—and that involves both Rose and Travis. With elements of dominance and submission, power play, and sex scenes, it does have a happy ending.

"He was raw, tricky to manage, beautiful, hard to understand, a bit mysterious, and yet you knew he'd get you somewhere magical if you let him have his way."

I really enjoyed reading this tale of life in the old west, a west that featured many of the religious, cultural and socioeconomic prejudices that are still prevalent today. Rose is the teacher in the one room schoolhouse in the town of Stagecoach. The contract for teaching in the old west had very restrictive, draconian, clauses that forced them to live in a very puritanical manner. Travis is a new rancher in the area, and is the divorced father of one young boy (Scotty). Being divorced makes him a pariah in the eyes of the religiously conservative townsfolk. When they first meet, when Travis drops off Scotty for his first day of school, an instant mutual attraction is realized. The problems with their developing relationship and the prejudiced townsfolks is further compounded when Rose’s family comes to town for a visit. Her step dad is nothing more than a brutal bully with violent tendencies and criminal intentions. A very complicated plot with lots of angst, lots of soul searching and more than enough action. There is a very hard fought HEA, and some sexy spankings and sweet sex. 4 Stars

This is a slow building story, which is to say that to my mind it got off to a rather slow start. I’m not sure if it was a stylistic choice by the author so that we would focus on the main couple, but there really aren’t many pleasant secondary characters in this book, and we meet most of them in the first couple of chapters. That made it difficult for me to really sink into the story. I liked Rose. She’s sweet and feisty in almost equal measure. I liked what we got to see of Travis. I don’t feel like we got to know him very well, though. He’s an honorable man doing his very best in a situation that’s beyond his control. In terms of the Lifestyle aspects of the story, I wasn’t able to find very much. There are some word choices that suggested it and a couple of punishments, but I didn’t feel like there was a real power exchange between our leading couple. The Lifestyle may have been very mild, yet it was still an enjoyable book. Historical romance written from a very modern perspective.

Schoolteacher & The Divorced Rancher

The schoolteacher is to be a single woman, with no men courting her. She is to remain single & not have secret meetings with men, maintaining good moral standards. Rose has been the teacher for 2 years & depends on her job to avoid returning to her mother & step-father's home. Josh Stearn is a new rancher in the area & carries the stigma of being a divorced man. Speculation in town leads to rumors & people shunning Josh's son Scotty. Josh felt divorce was the only way to protect Scotty from his mother & grandparents. Rose & Josh both have their own reasons to keep to themselves, but feel the draw to each other. What secrets do they both hide & will they find a way to be together without suffering consequences?

This story was a little different than what I was expecting. I didn't think the title for this story. Spoiler: when Rose & Josh get together at the school house, Rose is portrayed as a woman with no backbone. At 21 years of age she doesn't have any experience with men, but her imagination is vivid.

I don't really like cowboy western themed stories, but this one surprised me in a positive way. Rose Pascal is a young teacher in a small town called Stagecoach. Travis Stern is a single dad and horse breeder who just moved to Stagecoach and is divorced - a scandal for the conservative small community. Rose is drawn to the seasoned good-looking older man from the start, just like Travis is enchanted by Rose's fresh youth and beauty. But Rose is strictly forbidden to make male acquaintances and to marry, on the other hand she loves her job. A hopeless situation ...
I literally devoured the book within a day. The seemingly hopeless situation in which Rose and Travis find themselves is described very rousing and one is looking forward to the happy ending. Although I don't like westerns that much, I will definitely read more of the author's books. She convinced me

This is a read that is exciting and well written
This is a wonderful read filled with wonderful characters and a storyline that not only held my attention from start to finish it is also easy to read in just a few hours so fill a rainy afternoon wonderfully.
A teacher that is simply wonderful at what she does and she is a strong character that is filled with spirit and has a wonderful lust for life, she is such a honest character I honestly believe you will find yourself like me not able to put her from your mind.
Travis has been trying to take things slow with Rose as he senses that she has suffered so sort abuse prior to their relationship. This is a simply wonderful read that has been very well written and has a wealth of various attributes that will hold your attention completely.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

I Can’t Be Your Daddy is a sweet western romance with a lot of drama and a little danger.
It has a great storyline and likable characters, though the connection between Rose and Travis seemed rushed with a lot of back and forth subsequently. The plot keeps building and unfolding throughout the book, keeping the reader’s interest and gradually giving a better understanding of the characters and their actions and hesitation.
There were things that didn’t add up and things that didn’t fit historically, which caught my notice but ‘I Can’t Be Your Daddy’ was overall an entertaining and enjoyable feel-good read.

This is a sweet book. I wouldn't call it a Daddy/Little girl book at all. there is none of that dynamic, just talk. Rose has become a teacher to escape from her step father's home. The town has a rule that teachers must be single and can not court. Rose likes Travis from the start and both of them are very lax in trying to stay discreet. The problem is that Travis is divorced and so is considered morally bankrupt and that extends to his six year old son. The two are very attracted to one another and when Rose's family (mother, step father and step sister) come into town, there is a mystery to be solved. There is a little domestic discipline via spankings, but not much. I did enjoy the story.

Rose has a lot of rules to follow as the only schoolteacher in Stagecoach, Nevada. She cannot associate with men being the first. She is gossiping with friends at the general store when Travis walks in. She immediately feels drawn to the tall, dark and handsome stranger, but soon is told he is divorced. He is the local scandal. Soon, Rose and Travis cannot stay away from each other, and they are sure to be caught.
The story is a sweet love story, tempered by sad stories on both sides of abuse (not by our H or h). The town eventually condones their relationship, and they get their HEA. If you like a good love story, and a bit of spanking, this is a good book for you. I really enjoyed it.

Rose is a 21 year old schoolteacher with strict code to remain unmarried and not dating, according to the school board. However, horse rancher Travis Stern has caught her attention and soon both are finding ways to get together.

Both have baggage. Travis is a divorced single father. His ex-wife was an alcoholic and suffering depression. She also tried to sell her young son to a miner.

Rose and her twin Rocky were abused by their stepfather and not protected by their mother. Her dysfunctional family arrived in Stagecoach, causing scenes and the dirty actions of her stepfather.

Travis takes actions to take the stepfather to task.

This is more a traditional daddy theme, where you call a man daddy once he becomes a father. This is not a daddy dom/little girl theme.

This story is a pretty quick read. It’s not a bad story but I am a historical snob and in the time that this book is representing a woman teacher would not have been as careless with her reputation. Or maybe she would have and that is what makes this story fun. I feel like Travis is trying to be careful with his née relationship with Rose simply be a abuse his previous wife had really abused their relationship with her alcoholic behavior. Rose just wants to find a man like her father that will love and care for her for the rest of her life. This story is very sweet.

I enjoyed this book and thought it was a very promising start to this series. Rose and Travis were both quite likable and I felt they made a good pairing. The pace of this book is fairly quick and reads easily. The story kept me entertained with its blend of emotion, drama, sweetness, a bit of heat and features some power exchange. Overall I found this a fun way to spend a few hours. I will say that if you are a reader that is all about historical accuracy in your books, this one is probably not for you. I admit that I am no expert and even to me some details just seemed off or wrong. This is my frank, freely posted review.

A good historical.
This is one of those historical westerns that really show what it was like for certain people in this time. Schoolteachers were to be pure and untouched courting and marriage was a no-no. Such scandal for the lady but it is not just our teacher our hero is a divorced man. This had a complex plot wonderful twists that kept me reading till late at night I just had to finish. Great action in this book too. I was impressed with this story and it gets an A+ in every category. I hope you give this one a chance. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Travis and Grace are easily attracted to each other. One of the problems is she
is the town school teacher and as such she is not allowed to have any relationship
especially a divorced man with a little boy named Scotty. A lot of things happen
with regards to school board members and a scary moment with Mr Dunbury and
Travis and the family of Grace. They are told Grace can keep her job as the town
school teacher and there are still many twists and turns. You do not want to miss
any of this novel. A great read.

Very much an adult book
Storyline of a young woman trying to find herself as an unmarried school teacher, dealing with abuse from her step dad and her moms secret. And a young man dealing with raising his young son after his wife dove into alcoholism so he divorced her and left the state to make a life for them.
There is quite a bit of sexual activity and language so not fitting for younger readers.

This book has a lot of action and plot twists that will make this book hard to put down. It contains a lot of heat and spanking so if that offends you maybe skip this book. I think it is hot and this book does hot well. I was expecting a Daddy Dom from the title but it really is not like the typical DDLG book. It does fall a little that way it is hard to explain but well worth the time it takes to read.

Rose is the teacher and has strict rules to follow being the school teacher. Travis has a young son and is divorced, something not heard of in 1871. There is an instant connection between the two but she cannot be near men and he is the scandal of the town. This is a great story and the chemistry between Rose and Travis was amazing. They both had trauma in their collective pasts. I thought the story was well written and it flowed really well. Great book.

The title of this book suggests that this is a western Daddy/lg book, but it isn’t at all. It’s a historical DD book. There are definitely old fashioned, prim and proper values in this small town. They believe divorce is evil, and unmarried women should not talk to unmarried men. This of course sets up all sorts of problems. Given all these values, I thought Travis was really careless with Rose and her reputation. I did enjoy the book overall however. It was a fun, sweet read, with a little steam.

The first book of The Stagecoach Daddies series a well written story with a very good storyline. Rose Pascal is the only schoolteacher in the little town of Stagecoach, Nevada, in 1871 and horse rancher Travis Stern's story. There is suspense, drama, danger, evil, twists, turns, a villain, a jealous woman, secrets, and romance. A story that was well worth reading. ‘I Can’t Be Your Daddy’ is a captivating historical romance novel where the innocent school marm and a divorced rancher fall in love. This one is action packed. The two greatest elements about this story are, one, a very happy ending, and two, the satisfaction in knowing that the bad guys get what they have coming, and this book delivers on both accounts. A little naughty, but nice.

I enjoyed the book. I don't read a lot of historical romance, but this book seemed realistic, like it would have been back then. I especially liked the gossiping and their shock of things that are so mundane now a days. I'm more than happy to recommend this book and this author.

I'm not a fan of western historicals, but I really enjoyed this one. It's a wonderful start to a new series set in the Western era. This is a sweet romance. It is a fairly quick read that moves along at a good pace. A school teacher not allowed to have associations with men, if she wants to keep her job. All she wanted was someone to take care of her and make her feel safe, like her Daddy did. A divorced man protecting his son from his mother's drinking and abuse. In those days, you did not divorce. It has a wonderful ending with the villains getting what they deserve.
