Desert Alpha is part of Kristen Proby's With Me in Seattle Universe.
A forbidden, short-lived military romance could lead to lifelong happiness…or unbearable heartbreak.
Air Force Sergeant Cass Miles is all too familiar with the pitfalls of on-base romances—to the tune of one failed marriage and a bitter ex. Even if it wasn’t against regs to get involved with her fellow Airmen, she wouldn’t have any interest in that kind of relationship.
Until she sees Rip.
As a Navy SEAL, Rip is used to getting plenty of attention when he and his teammates step on base, especially from the ladies. It happens so often that the attention from the opposite sex doesn’t even register anymore.
Until he sees Cass.
With only days together and the threat of discovery looming, can this unlikely couple find their way to true love?

In just a short time, I quickly and easily fell for the sexy AF SEAL named Rip.
The connection and chemistry between Cassandra and Rip was immediate and it sizzled! These two clicked. And they were sexy as hell together.
Cass was a great heroine. She’s strong, smart, and... has a best friend named —> LORI!! LOL. Seriously though, she was smart and lovable and handled everything with class. Even her obsessed ex being on the same base who tried causing problems for her.
The author did a fabulous job at making me fall for this couple and route for them all the way. This short and sweet and sexy read gave me everything I needed. Loved it!
Its been a while since I read a book from Bethany Lopez and this was a great re-introduction to her writing.
Cass and Rip are on deployments and they meet on a military base when Rip is sent there for R&R. Soon as they meet the sparks are flying and their connection was instant!
I'm not normally a fan of novellas as I prefer full length novels but this was was short, sweet and packed a punch. I devoured it in one sitting.

I love how Cass and Rip have this unmistakable connection as soon as they meet and the relationship develops quickly but it’s mature and they don’t play games. It’s sexy and sweet.
I would have loved to have gotten more information on his actual name and other information but love that we still see their relationship develop. I would have loved an epilogue to see them in the future. I feel like we are left wanting more of them.
I was intrigued by the other characters as well, especially King and Lori and hope they get their own story at some point too.
Desert Alpha by B. Lopez is a short story in the With Me in Seattle Universe. Cassandra is a Sergeant with the Army and has a job as manager. Rip is a SEAL, an alpha male who visits Cass' base. Both have this insta-connection, a beautiful story, low on drama, a quick read, well written, what's not to like.
This is a novella written as part of the With Me in Seattle series. Love this author so I knew I needed to read this one. If you picked this up cold, you would never guess the tie in to the Seattle series. That said, its a short read about two people being in horrific conditions and just knowing that their chance encounter means more than a one night stand.
Cass and Rip seem to be destined for each other. Because of the short read, it does seem a bit insta love. But their have some things to work through--mostly their jobs in the military. Both are open and honest about their feelings. And we eventually get an HEA!
Pick this one up for a quick afternoon read. Great job!
*Complimentary copy provided for an honest review.
This is a good start to a new series. I liked Cassandra and felt bad that her ex was on the same base as her as he didn’t seem to want to get over her. When a Seal team comes to base she meets Rip who is one great looking guy and such a gentleman! The two start a short relationships before Rip is shipped out. Can they keep a relationship going? You need to read the short story to find out. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
Rip and Cass had this fast burning love that just made me love this couple. A short, sweet and sexy novella about my favorite me..Seals. Enjoyable story from one one
This is a quick and spicey read if I do say so myself. Cassandra is stationed overseas and is almost done and ready to go home. When the SEAL Team comes in for a break she doesn't realize she's about to get more than she bargained for. Rip is ready for some R & R and can't wait for a shower, a real, bed, and food. When he sees Cassandra he knows this break is about to get interesting. There are rules that you need to follow and these two are gonna try to break them without getting caught. But what happens when someone knows their secret? And what happens when they go their separate ways? Love this book and this author is amazing.
The base where Cass has been deployed has strict rules about getting romantically involved with other members. She has always managed to follow that rule until Rip and his team stop over for a break their regular duties.
Rip is a Navy SEAL who was attracted to her from the first time he saw her. It was only a matter of time before the chemistry between them ignited but when duty calls will they be able to find their way back to each other?
Hot chemistry, a little drama and two people who were destined to be together.
As this book opens Air Force Sergeant Cass Miles is heading to breakfast. She runs into her friend Lori from Public Affairs, who is also on line for food. It's Lori who informs her some SEALs were stopping by for some R&R, in fact they're already on base. Cass hadn't been contacted but since she's the Lodging Manager in charge of temporary housing she leaves the line to get to her office. Her desk sergeant was hurrying toward her as she left the dining facility. He has the information she needs and offers to grab her breakfast as she rushes to see what's available for their guests. Something close to the workout area and gym would be good since they like to keep active even while relaxing.
As the guys were waiting for their Master Chief to let them know where they were going to bunk, Rip, Hummer, Scotty and King were extoling the virtues of hot meals, mattresses and running water.
Rip caught his first glimpse of Cass at the dining facility, but couldn't approach her. There were rules for deployed locations including the no fraternization policy. It was the same everywhere but a perk of being a SEAL was mostly the rules didn't matter. The question would be if he could convince her.
Cass and her friend Lori got their first close look at the SEALs during their nightly walk. They were playing volleyball, shirtless. Shirtless was against the rules, but the SEALs apparently could get away with it.
A fun night at the Cantina leads to a meet at the pool and another night at the Cantina with Lori and Cass hanging with the SEALs and a very steamy forbidden rendezvous for Cass and RIP.
Lots of fun with a touch of angst and plenty of sizzle.
Desert Alpha is a super short but uber sexy story from author Bethany Lopez. Navy SEAL Rip and Air Force Sergeant Cassandra fall fast and hard, even though their liasion is strictly against the rules!
Both Rip and Cass were great characters and I enjoyed their chemistry and banter despite this story putting the "instant" in instalove! If I fully depart from reality and look past the fact that these folks fell in love after seeing each other a total of three times, I can gleefully admit I thoroughly enjoyed this snack sized story. I wish all our military beautiful stolen moments with happily ever afters like theirs.
Rip and Cass meet by chance while both are deployed and he and his fellow SEAL team members wind up at her base. They feel sparks and decide to go for it. Their time together was short, but this was a novella so that made sense. Cass and Rip needed to decide if they wanted to see where things with them would go, or if it would just be a fling. The fact that both of them were older did help with this book for me. I did find the book entertaining and not too short. It did accomplish me wanting to see more of these 2. I am interested in reading some more books in this series.
I found this story so easy to read! I loved Cass and Rip right from the start. Their attraction is immediate and they find their way straight away..no games, no messing around, always honest. Steamy and wonderful character!

Really enjoyed Rip and Cass's story, but where it is a short story I would have loved an epilogue. Maybe we will see the other characters in a new series?!? and will get some update then.
What happens in the "Sandbox" stays in the "Sandbox" ... except when it doesn't. Military life can be extremely tough for both soldiers and the families! Good, fast paced novella.
This is a really short and fast story that has covered a history that happened on another continent and hollows two military people that were thrown into one place and met by accident for short time. How will their story follow? Will they manage t find their place or will go separate in the end?
These characters although interesting didn't live up to the blurb. I expected more conflict and certainly more drama between the ex and the SEAL. For what its worth this was a regular 3 star read.
Desert Alpha: it was an interesting story of military people that meet in the Desert. They were both very intrigued by each other even they are base out of to different locations. It was a hot romance and a great story!
I liked both parties were military, but expected more problems from her ex husband since he was stationed on the same post as hers and made a comment about her and Rip. Could have done with some action, but you did have plenty of heat. HEA.
