This was a wonderful book for middle grades/ teens. My oldest son really enjoyed the storyline and the characters But i must say i enjoyed it too.
The story follows Ten-year-old Mkali Kentauro as she starts a new school. The shapeshifter academy. She is a character that has been present in Bretts earlier book series. But this is a stand alone series for Mkali. During her first year at school she meets a lot of people. Some that are not so fan of the shapeshifter children that have growed up on earth. But she finds friends in places she never would have thought. And she faces dangers and a long lost queen too.
The story had a good flow, magical characters and magic. I really liked Brett`s writing style and he kept up a strong action filled plot throughout the book Only negative i discovered is that there is a lot of creatures in this book but not all is described. So for some creatures my son had to do a google search to know what mythical creature
If you have younger kids/ teens that need a good action filled book for the summer i would recommend this magical adventure. Im also gonna buy his previous series, Dragonborn to learn more about the prestory before the events in this book :D
This story grabs and keeps your attention from the beginning. The characters have been well thought out and are relatable enough to make you feel as if you're part of the story. Highly recommend!
