She's a criminal. I'm the deputy sheriff. I should be arresting her. Instead, I'm kissing her. Law enforcement in Mudville always has been a bit...different, but even I can see that this situation is going to be a problem. The only question is, what am I going to do about it?

It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006.
Today, she is a NY Times & USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of contemporary romance. A promo ho, she's sponsored real live bull riding cowboys and promoted romance using bologna.

Adorable!
Just like the all the books in this series, this one was great too! It was adorable and funny and sparky and mysterious and small-towny. I loved reading it. Poor Carson finally gets a chance at a happily ever after - but did he choose the right girl? He kinda thinks that she's a criminal - but we know that she's kinda not, but also kinda a little bit connected maybe... LOL. It was a really cute small town love story!
I really need to see this town on Netflix one day!
BAD DECISIONS was an adorable + funny + mysterious small town rom-com! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Carson - this one is MINE!
Poor Carson. Having lost out on several of the enticing, eligible females in his small town, he falls for the new mystery girl from "the city". This story is off and running as love grows almost as fast as the unanswered questions pile up. Throw in the LADS and chaos, confusion, passion, pining, laughs, lies, murder and more mysteries abound. I pray there are more stories to come from Mudville. They just great bigger & better.
“Bad Decisions” is book 7 in the ‘Smalltown Secrets’ series from Cat Johnson, and reading it is definitely a very good decision! If you’ve never read any of the other books in the series, don’t worry, you’ll still have no problem at all enjoying this one. If you are familiar with this series, you’ll be happy to see that at long last Deputy Sheriff Carson Bekker gets his turn in the spotlight.
There aren’t a lot of dating options in a small town like Mudville, and Carson knows everyone. When he stops by one of the few local places for something to eat after work one day, he’s shocked to find that there’s a young woman working there who he’s never seen before, and she’s incredibly sexy. He really wants to get to know her better. Kayleigh is a tattooed beauty with a mysterious past. She’s in town on a mysterious secret mission of her own, and the last thing she needs is to attract attention from people. But she’s irresistibly attracted to the clean-cut man in the law enforcement uniform, and that could be a huge problem. As the story and the romance slowly unfold, so does the mystery surrounding Kayleigh. It seems more and more likely that she’s involved in something criminal. Carson and Kayleigh are both likeable characters and the connection between them practically jumps off the page. The tension keeps rising as their relationship progresses, and her secret quest also progresses.
This story is well-written and the pages seem to go by quickly. I was pulled right into the story of Carson and Kayleigh. I was also charmed and entertained by the multitude of quirky, crazy, helpful, nosey, frantic and funny inhabitants of Mudville. If you’ve read other books in this series, it’s fun to see a bunch of characters you’ll recognize appear again in this story. Who’d have thought a place with a name like Mudville would be a place I’d wish I could go?
Carson is a character that has been introduced slightly in a different book. Don't worry if you haven't read it, this book is a standalone. I love that they had him be this police officer but also be a general good guy. He likes first dates and not rushing things. Yes, you do find out that he kicks himself for being such a "boy scout" but I liked it.
Kayleigh is in a tough spot. She is on a mission but yet can't fight the attraction from Carson. The very last person she should be dealing with. I loved when we got inside her head because she is there for a reason but yet, he can't help what she feels for Carson.
While I love the boy scout Carson, my favorite part has to be when Carson decides that he doesn't want to be a boy scout any longer and all I have to say is it's HOT!!
OMG do opposites attract in this one. Another great book by Cat Johnson
Carson is a Sheriff's Deputy in Mudville. Kayleigh is keeping secrets about who she is while looking for her twin brother who is on the run. Kayleigh's family has ties to the mob back I "the city" and Declan is on the run because he thought he could do one job and then get out. Now she is falling for Carson but doesn't plan to stay in town once she finds Declan. What will she do when Declan leaves her while she is sleeping and tells her not to try to find him again? Will she go back to Mudville and will Carson take her back, or did he ruin everything g with him by leaving in the night with Declan?
I have loved Carson as part of the supporting cast in all the previous books, so it was an absolute delight to see him as the hero in a book of his own. Which, to be honest, is kind of something I’ve wanted to see since the beginning. Kayleigh is a total spitfire, and nothing like anyone Carson has dealt with before. In all fairness, Carson isn’t like anyone she’s dealt with, either. It was a lot of fun watching these two lead each other on a merry chase and getting all tripped up by their feelings in the process. I really hope this isn’t the final end of the series because there are still so many Mudville stories I want to know about.
Kayleigh is looking for her brother who she thinks is hiding out in Mudville. Carson is the sheriff deputy and even though her family steers clear of the law she can’t help herself. The attraction is strong between these two. But Carson suspects she isn’t telling him the truth and wants to know why. The whole thing blows up when she does indeed find Declan but he is in more trouble than she thought. But of course in the end it all works out.
Carson goes to the Mudville Inn for a beer and some wings, but the biddies stop him. When he makes it in he sees that they have a new employee Kayleigh is looking for her brother Declan. Their family has ties to the Irish Mob. Will Kayleigh find her brother? Can Carson and Kayleigh find love despite him being a Deputy and she has ties to the Mob? Come on in and find out.
If you haven't yet visited Mudville, you have missed out on some amazing characters. Petunia being one of my favorites. This is what? Book six of this delightful series and I have loved every one. This latest one with Deputy Sheriff Carson was so fun. I loved the twist to it. Kayleigh's back story was different, making for different twist. Nicely done.
Small town deputy Connor and newbie to Mudville Kayleigh has a secret, things start coming up missing odd and no rhyme or reason to the theft, fabulous cast of characters in Mudville from the old biddies that gossip about everything and everyone, to the famous Petunia the pig, old bones, mob connection, love them all, thank you, Dana Zamora
I was a little disappointed in Carson and Kayleigh's story, but I still liked it. It was really low on steam and the plot was just okay but it was nice to return to Mudville (and Carson is super swoonworthy).
Carson and Kayleigh are just the cutest young couple in Mudville. I just love this series and Cat Johnson is just a go to author for me. Highly recommend all her books, especially the Mudville series.
Carson and Kayleigh were everything you love about Mudville and it’s quirky residents. Between the lady detectives and small Town gossips , Petunia the pig, missing crates of milk and men’s underwear, this series always makes me laugh.
Oh darn…this one was borderline boring. It just didn’t do it for me. Everything seemed stilted—nothing seemed to flow smoothly. I was just glad for this one to be over! Duh!
Cute story. Hoping for more of this Mudville series. Still waiting for more of the secrets to be revealed from Rose’s diaries, as we were promised, though.
Hah! Nothing surprises me coming from this quirky little town of Mudville. And the whole town will be involved. Enjoyed this easy reading romance. A bit of drama, mystery, and humor.
