This comic attempts to imitate the excellent webtoon Remarried Empress (even in the title art) and fails spectacularly. Instead of the expected enemies-to-lovers story we get a dull, insipid romance that has been reiterated a thousand times before, and instead of a strong-willed, smart, and likeable female lead we basically get a disney princess who forgets she is supposed to have a filthy mouth and behaves just like everyone else.
Two Stars for effort and the art, but if I'm being honest it got way too boring and repetitive after a while.
Truly I did enjoy it as a guilty pleasure read, but other OI/Historical Manhwa just has more drama, so it's not that great for that either.
And of course Bart. Ignoring his oh so shitty name (Seriously What was the author thinking? Even Penelope comments on how shocked she is upon hearing that). I do not like him at all.
Yea he is a nice guy but that's about it. His only personality trait is loving Penelope+A few token scenes of him doing stuff for his kingdom (Empire?). I much prefer that pale dude
Penelope too, I wish we got to see more of her being unfiltered and honest, but now she's indistinguishable from your average OtomeIsekai Protagonist(If the Webtoon can be referred to as that genre) both in appearance and personality.
Yulson is probably my favourite character (Friendly reminder that Liking a character≠Relating to said Character). Dude brings so much drama and conflict to the show without being stupid or an eyesore (you know who I'm talking about I wish the author did her character better instead of Just 'A women who likes Bart and is jealous of Penelope'). I mean, most of the SERIOUS conflict would not exist without him, if we're being real here.
Still, I do really like that the main plot is about a couple already together facing challenges, makes it for a boring but fresh read.
Ohh how i wish i could love this manhwa. It really does has a very cute and beautiful art. But somehow the story failed to impress me.
I love Bart because how matured he is. He is another male lead with green demeanor. The way he wanted the world to be peace, he is such a good leader to lead the kingdom alongside with Penelope who also wish for the better world. They make a good pair except the story lack of something more.
< Wish you were dead > and < How to get my husband on my side > are the two manhwa that has a good storyline and character arc compared to this.
This webtoon series was one of my all time favorites. I was just browsing through the webtoon site one day and this one just popped out to me. I read this series every morning before my tournaments and to be honest how I felt greatly reflected how well I did in archery... Bart who is His Majesty falls in love with Penelope and is trying to win her over. Penelope is not sure if she wants to fall in love again but she does. She also attracts this other guy is really annoying but is important.
The other guy that she attracts is named Yulson. He's a prince in the rivaling kingdom but he fell in love with her so he kidnaps her so Bart can't marry her. Bart rescues her but Penelope ends up dying. Since Yulson was possesed and Penelope killed him she gets a wish from the Goddess of their world so she wishes that there was never a war between the two kingdoms.
There is a happy ending even though Bart forgets her initially when he's looking for a wife in their new life he falls in love with Penelope all over again which proceeded to make me very happy.
This webtoon will remind you some other webtoon's plot but still it’s story development is unique in it’s own way. I loved the ending. Art works are so so good. Specially both MC and other characters look so beautiful that you might fall in love with everyone. In short a well time pass for me.
Quite fun. Different from the usual romances in that the characters get together quite early, and then stay that way, facing trials and tribulations together, which I quite liked.
The first half of the story was enjoyable, mainly thanks to the funny FL, but it lost its charm after she got married, and everything became boring. The art, however, was decent.
Alrighty so I'll consider 1-34 as vol 1 currently.
While I do enjoy the old lady moments Penny has from time to time, it isn't her all the time. She has her moments being the odd old woman stuck from the past but it doesn't look like it really impacted her way of life. The real kicker was definitely the coma she was in and when she really sat down and did a deep dive into her perspective on life. I really enjoyed those conversations she shared between her old self and current self.
I can't say I'm highly invested in her or Bart's (lol this name) romance but it is sweet. I do love how accepting each of them are to each other, but it's not anything outside of the cliche romance. Bart is also a "Consent Icon"! He is not like a certain blonde hair blue-eyed Duke we know from another webtoon (talking about The First Night with the Duke). I will keep up with the series as it updates but it is again nothing too groundbreaking. It is like most cliche royal romance webtoons in its setup and plot ultimately. Read it if your looking for a sweet and cozy romance but don't get too hung up about how predictable the story is.
The ending wasn't great. I was hoping for the resurrection of Penelope rather than reincarnation.🤦
But I like everything about this novel. It has everything I wanted. A clean romance, vibrant characters, amazing plot twists, beautiful scenic beauty and hilarious comedy.

I was quite pleasantly surprised by this! I went into His Majesty's Proposal expecting all of the tired tropes and plot beats from the otome-isekai genre. And, while some of them are there, they were handled in such a way that didn't make me roll my eyes.
Having Penelope remember her past life as an old lady not only makes for some great comedic relief, but is also a refreshing change from the whole nameless-girl-hit-by-a-truck scenario as well as enabling the exploration of themes such as loneliness. Bart is a welcome change from the forceful and cold male leads that dominate (haha, get it?) these kinds of stories. He and Penelope are just so sweet and wholesome that I forgive him for being a little bit bland. I also found myself invested in Rubia (the best friend) and her romance with Parion, and I quite like Raul and Oliver. Yulia is your typical, jealous, petty antagonist but her brother, Yulson, more than made up for it. I'm a sucker for and trying to figure out his true motivations kept me hooked.
The art is pretty, if unexceptional, but the plot has more to it than what appears at first glance. The story is streamlined and makes for easy reading, using the aforementioned tropes to its advantage. It does a fairly decent job at focusing on the effects of war, while fostering a swoon-worthy romance between Bart and Penelope. I'm still in two minds about the ending. On the one hand, but it also felt like a .
Despite its shortcomings, this webtoon reignited my excitement for the otome-isekai genre, and I think that counts for something.
Is Majesty's proposal is a good example of a really good webtoon that does not stick the ending which is why this review will be hidden with the spoiler button. I overall really like the story and the characters I very much enjoyed the setting and the world and the premise. However up to chapter 100 I think I would say 100% 10 out of 10 great. Then we get to the ending where she gets the option of the wish and Penelope after dying meet the goddess of the world and the goddess grants her a wish she wishes that the war didn't happen and then everybody basically would have happy lives. While I understand the reason behind her doing this I feel that it removes a very sad lesson. Pain is a very important tool in our lives it shapes us it makes us it shows us what we can go through and what we can handle .by removing something so pivotal to many of the characters it makes me it makes me weary that these are not the same characters in the same world yeah there's the deja vu and I know Penelope remembers everything but her brother doesn't remember thing and Ruby doesn't remember everything Ruby and Perry on don't have the crazy love story that they have in the story Bart doesn't necessarily see her same character because she's a little bit nicer this time around cuz she wants him and even the prince and princess of Turin I felt were no longer the characters they once were. Therefore I have to downgrade from five stars to 3.5. Great example though of a story that just does not stick a landing. The rest is really good and I have a hard time not recommending it.

Coming back to update my thoughts on each chapter!

We are introduced to our main character Penelope who is a reincarnation of an old woman (as we can tell by her old generation humor) who goes through a break up with Count Gordon who then ends up marrying to another in one week after the break up. She found herself angered by this so she indulge herself into the alcohol as an old fashioned way to get over a break up. As a result of this drunken state, she meets the silver haired male lead with violet eyes and a mysterious presence. He took her to his room and we could hear her internal thoughts admiring him respectively. She immediately ran out after finding that she wasn’t supposed to be in his room. But after she left, he refused to let her leave and decided to search for her. After reading into the storyline, I find myself confused how the plot had little development. If the situation were realistic and this weren’t a fantasy where the main characters were meant to fall in love, I believe that Bart would be the villain for taking Penelope to his bed without consent. And if he weren’t a physically attractive character, the story would’ve been more of a horror. However, what I do like is how the main character Penelope had such a realistic internal commentary that feels relatable to the readers. Her old lady humor is what makes her stand out in the story.

Penelope is a noble woman who curses like a sailor. She remembers her past life and somehow affects her current actions. She got drunk one night and woke up with emperor on her side.
I love the illustrations. They are very attractive and the background is so beautiful. There is some tension between the main leads, but sometimes Penelope disappoints me. She's too hard to get. I feel bad for the emperor. I want love scenarios, that's why I read romance. I need to see it. I want to isekai into the webtoon and get him myself lol. She has cute second leading man and I like their chemistry. Also, Rubia with Penelope's brother is also cute together. It's cute all in all, but Penelope drags the romance too thin.
It should be noted that there are hierarchy issues involved that I like. Some royalty webtoons do not delve into poor and rich status in the society.
(I'm making reviews on royalty manhwas/mangas so I can remember which is which. They are so many but I still like reading this genre.)
I love this manhwa. Read it on webtoon. It is completed. It has a doble twist at the end.
Now to question why?
The FL is isekai-ed into this world. She died as old bitter woman that not many liked. Now a noble daughter she is but she is not interested in rich man, no evil plot, no nothing special...until she acsidentaly sleeps with a nobleman. The man is wondering why she run away. It turns out he is the Emperor. But she turns down his proposal...AND THE STORY STARTS.
I love how small joys of life are incoprorated into the story. The FL and ML relationship develops and they both try. I like how FL is no demsel also no villaness. She is portrated as being smart with good logic and moral codes.
Let me put it like this: There is a scene were FL punched someone. If the dialog around that scene doesn't have an impact on you, than maybe you are looking for something different. I will still recommend you give this Manhwa a try as it is short with under 100 chapters and finished.
