I loved how this book shows the temper of this boy and what makes him gain a temper throughout the day. His mom said no breakfast until you brush your teeth made his temper gain two feet. But the boy just says "ok". When his dad tells him to put away his game and do homework instead, he complies but his Temper grows even more. Even when he tries to sneak a popsicle out of the fridge and his mom catches him, the boy keeps his cool. But by now his temper is huge. The way he handles his temper and gets him to shrink is by counting to calm himself down. This book shows the struggles a child can go through when they don't get their way and how their temper grows. It was a fun story and I like the way they illustrated the Temper.
There’s a tiny temper in every kid, and in “My Tiny Temper”, those feelings come to life as a little, furry monster. Growing larger (and angrier) with every pout and tantrum, the monster becomes too much to handle. Sound familiar? The story lets children know that it’s ok to admit how they feel. It also teaches them that listening and following directions feels better than letting that inner monster take control.
The author, Christopher Fequiere, is a full-time artist and proud dad, and it shows. His illustrations are very fun and clever, which is matched well with the writing. Any family can relate to “My Tiny Temper”, and it might even help keep the peace in your household!
My little boy loved this story, and he particularly enjoyed looking for the tiny tempers on each page.
Children have such huge emotions, it’s no great surprise that they have trouble regulating them. This book demonstrates that with calm, simple explanation of tasks that need doing, a tiny temper can be distracted and shrunk.
With sweet, simple illustrations, and a matt finish paperback cover, this wonderful book makes for a great read.
My 4yo loves this book. This also holds the attention of my 2yo as well. We read it most nights. My 4yo requested the other two as well. He asks every day if they've come yet. This book has two strategies it includes to cope with the tiny temper: counting to 10 and deep breathes. When we read it, we practice each of them. Highly recommend.
Easy straight to the point read. I have a 5 year about to start kindergarten and this was right up her alley. She definitely has a little temper and this helped her realize if she’s gets the couple mandatory tasks done, she can have a cookie or some screen time!
This book is such a great tool to use to help in times when we feel angry. I think we need more books in the classroom as tools to help regulate our emotions and it's an important thing to learn for these students. This book will be in my classroom to be a helpful tool for my students.
