Yes a new favorite author

The first two books were the best. This book was a roundup and finishing for the first two. The first book, Snatched, the MFC, Athena Kazan, was an assistant to U S attorney in Cheyenne WY when she was in the wrong underground parking lot at the wrong time. A deal with US senator and the daughter of one of the most ruthless cartels in North and South America, with Mexico included, Santiago's. She was shot in the head and took two years for her to somewhat recover. Althena was a super computer wiz now. Although her left side of her brain was scrambled, her right side turned into an almost computer mind. Now another being in the wrong place at the wrong time, she starts folowing a man with two women. Athens was abducted while trying to break up a baby selling ring. She was induced with embryo of a super baby like so many women before her. In Nicked, while in protected custody due to the cartel trying to kill her so she can't testify against the people who shot her in the head, her cousin, who she never met but was in Denver to look at colleges, was abducted. A young beautiful girl ready to start her life, taken in broad daylight. Alternatively with all her ways to track people and to hack into computers of all types without leaving traces of how so people can't track her. Anointed has a very pregnant Athena, she was impregnated in the first book with super sperm, as were so many other women. She has a large bounty on her head from Fernandez Santiago, the father of the daughter Athena had sent to prison with her testimony. The daughter was killed in prison and daddy was mad. Athena, her boyfriend Beau are trying to stay one step ahead of the assassins out to kill her. Back with the Santiago cartel, again had abducted a fresh out of college account. Viola, was hunted by Carlotta Santiago who had tried to make Viola a ghost by bleaching her skin and hair white and called her La Llorona to frighten the people and especially the children around the Casa Santiago who murdered children. Shearly by accident Viola had helped the young son of a couple who stole from the Cartel, get away. The people started calling her Nina Blanca or Santa Muerte, A folk half Catholic and Aztecs, hundreds of years old, Viola was vetting into this new role and the more research, Viola thought it was good to lift the spirits of the downtrodden people that the cartel used and abused. But Carlotta wanted Viola as Santa Muerte to drum up more people to work for the cartel. Carlotta was sending Viola out into the community of Denver to preach how good the cartel was but Viola didn't think that God wanted her to do that. Pushed through threat of punishment, Villa started slipping in how she was sponsored and provided by the cartel until one particular sermon, Viola was rescued by the DEA. Of course the DEA objective was not just to rescue her for being tortured and mistreated and used to figure out for Carlotta who in her organization were cheating her, the feds wanted Viola to tell all on the setup of the Casa Santiago's. Knowing and seeing what Carlotta would do to her and her mother, viola refused to playball, fearing death and torture, viola was locked up by the feds and practically thrown away her cell key. When a friend of Athena's hired a lawyer to get Viola out of the jail, Viola fled with the friend to where Athena, Beau and now baby boy, Leo were hiding. A new assassin, the Viper was now after all of them, even though Athena had hired hardass security for all of them, there was an HEA of sorts.
I thought there were only three books to this series but now a forth book has been released, Sliced. So here we go again. I'm sure Athena, Beau and Leo will save the world again. Michael Arches' books catch the reader from the beginning. Unlike some books in which I'm tempted just to skip to the back, you definitely miss a lot of the story if the reader were to try that with one of Michael's books. The reader wouldn't understand how the author came about the ending. Don't cheat. What's the purpose of not reading the book? Thanks

Athena is still the target of a Drug Cartel- ( she is the main character in this series) . In this once Carlotta Santiago runs the most ruthless drug cartel in the west. She has killed her accountant and n ow need somebody to keep the books for the cartel. Not like she can go to an employment agency so she has her goons kidnap a young junior accountant from Denver. When Athena finds out about Viola and the fact that she is now owned by Carlotta she sets out to rescue her. Not an easy tasks for a woman that was shot in the forehead a couple of years ago. Bodies are dropping like flies and things just get uglier each day.

Not gonna say any more -- you need to read this to keep up with the rescues, bad actors and body count..

(FYI- Yes, my foot is still broken and I am basically living in my recliner)

While this installment was interesting enough to keep me reading to the finish, it is my least favorite book in the series. The best part of this series is Athena working to save women abducted into the slave trade and human trafficking. While this had that, kind of, it was more of a story of just one woman (an accountant for a large firm) abducted by the cartel, that deals in the slave trade and human trafficking, for the sole purpose of doing their books. Meh!!! It was ok, fortunately, it was a quick read.

Hopefully, Arches will get back to Athena helping to capture the remaining cartel members and breaking up their slave trade and human trafficking ring.

On the run

Life on the run has to be a horrible life. This one I rated 4 stars only because I think the author made a mistake in assuming that a cartel as controlling as the Jefa would allow her slaves to post on social media pictures and videos of a person they had kidnapped, that’s just not going to happen. Other than that this was another difficult to put down book.

3.5 *** Glad it's done

A good series that started out very strong. But I have to admit this last installment was my least favorite. Felt forced. Off kilter with the first 2 books.
