Ara’s found her soulmate and accepted the bond, but now she must journey south with her team, keeping her secret while fighting against the power that’s threatening to destroy her and the world at every turn. Though fate is non-negotiable, can she find a way to escape it? Or will she have to do the unthinkable before she becomes the victim? The hunted?
It’s over for Temir. He’s lost everything, including his freedom. His mate, who has refused him, has all the answers but can he escape the king and find a way to get that information from her? How can he save the world when he can’t even save himself? It’s time for war in Alewyn and fate has decided that no one is safe.
Blood and Promise was the debut new adult, high fantasy, fae novel for Miranda Lyn. She grew up smack dab in the middle of the United States with nothing to do but dream up stories of fantastical creatures and powerful heroines. Now married with three children of her own, an idea sparked a buried passion within her to follow a dream and teach her children that anything is possible if you’re willing to work hard for it.
I barely have words. Gut-wrenching. Heartbreaking. Soul-uplifting. It was all too much, but also, like, not enough because I couldn’t get enough, but at the same time so utterly PERFECT and everything this story needed to be. Miranda Lyn, you are a goddess among writers and I am forever lucky to know you. Forever one of my favorite authors and I’ll keep recommending your books until I am no longer.
I’m gonna begin with how delightful spicy this particular book is...The steaminess picks up right where we left a couple of newly bonded soulmates, as well as with the tentative and sweet new beginnings of another mated pairing...It is undeniable how masterfully these relationships have developed over the course of the series. We have watched these characters suffer and banter until we finally lead up to such intense love. There’s a certain few steamy chapters that come to mind, but that one in the freaking LIBRARY?! Instant fave!
I emphasize romance here because admittedly, it’s something I have been so excited to see from this particular cast of characters, but I cannot stress this final point enough. As a reader, have you ever got an eerie feeling that an author has crafted a story specifically to make you fall in love with it?! That is Fae Rising for me. Fae and dragons, smutty romance and nonstop snarky characters with hilarious quippy friendships and dialogue, suspenseful court dealings with brutal enemies and fateful, bloody battlefields. This series is literally MADE for fans of epic NA Fantasy and Fae Romance alike!
Okay. How to start. This was definitely the best book out of the three- it had everything that I should have loved, it had soulmates it had battles it had multiple characters and it was funny a lot of the time… that all being said I don’t know what it is about the series but it couldn’t keep me interested I often thought to myself I don’t really care about what happened to these characters and I know a lot of people loved the characters in this book. Would I recommend this series? probably not. it was fun some of the time and I did love Kai and Ara as characters but I think the writing style just wasn’t for me
What a beautifully written, heart wrenching story. I grew so attached to these characters and their plight. To say I’m upset the series has ended is an understatement. They will forever remain in my memory. It’s going to take me some time to get over this one.
This is the third book in the Fae Rising series and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. This may have been my favourite book of April because it was just so good! This series almost reminds me of Throne of Glass which is why I think I loved this series so much!! @authormirandalyn had me feeling all the emotions 😂 one minute I’d be biting my nails on the edge of my seat during an intense action scene and the next I was enjoying an adorable interaction between the characters! If I were to try and convince someone to read this series/book in three points they would be: 1. FAE 2. Badass women 3. Dragons What more could you need?! Anyways you guys should totally read her books ASAP because she’s an amazing author!!
What an amazing, heart wrenching end to this beautifully written story.
The characters captured my heart from first meeting. The friendships and relationships in this whole series were breath taking. Everything was so well written and entrancing.
Ok maybe I can collect myself. This book series is one of my absolute favorites. Miranda truly knows what she is doing. I fell in love with these characters and see them as almost apart of my family. This series extends past just the pages. If you love a good epic Fae-fantasy, with a chosen one, found family, a little bit of enemies to lovers, and amazing fantasy creatures and world building, have I got the book series for you.
Flipping phenomenal end to the trilogy. Holy shit the rollercoaster of emotions. The adventure and attachment formed on this entire series comes to an epic end. I guarantee this book is gonna make you feel things.
I’m still not over it Miranda. Bring her back.

What a STUNNING conclusion to the Fae Rising trilogy. I whooped, I gasped and I sobbed—not cried, sobbed—over this beauty of a book.
I can’t say much because I don’t put spoilers in my reviews, but this is an epic ending to a beautiful story and a battle done well. Loose ends tied and our hearts pummelled.
I couldn't speak after I finished this (I was crying too hard). This book should come with a warning label: reading will cause you to feel emotions like euphoria, heartbreak, manic betrayal, excitement. 99.9% chance of a book hangover. I'm still processing everything. What a ride! This series is one of my all time favourites. The characters come full circle and that ending! I recommend this book to anyone who loves epic adult fantasy with sass for days and characters you will fall in love with.
Very few books have made me laugh, smile, get angry, or cry all within the span of the first to last page.... and this one has done it. I honestly love this book the most out of the entire trilogy but each are amazing in their own way. I will always think of the characters and the story, even years later. This was such a beautifully written ended to an amazing, dark adult fantasy trilogy. If I had to describe it in one word? EPIC!!! Thank you Miranda for bringing such magic into our world.
An epic conclusion in Ara and Temir’s journey! This one hurt as all Miranda books do but the sacrifice was worth it! I might never forgive Miranda for some things in this book but only time will tell!
I decided to wait until I had finished the whole series before I wrote an actual review, so I had a better grasp on the story as a whole. I really liked the POV writing style, especially switching back and forth between two characters who have no obvious connection at the start. I felt it gave a bigger overall picture of what is going on, and when they connected later on, it was great! The story did drag a little towards the end of the first book/first half of second book, with ALL. THE. TRAVELLING. THROUGH. WOODS. and also O.M.G. how can people with fated mates not see/ignore their mate for SOOOOO long?!?!?! Sorry, mini rant on a trope that tends to bug me. I digress. All in all I LOVED this series. It gutted me at the end, but it was so refreshing to have a realistic, not every important character survives the final battle against all odds, story. Thank you Miranda for a beautiful story, and I look forward to the next book set in this world.

I'll start off by saying that, even though we got a couple of spicy scenes in book 2, for some reason the author made everything closed door in book 3. Strange. Anyway - great conclusion to the trilogy, there were tears of course, and I devoured this book in under a day, so that's always a good sign.
Two caveats should be mentioned however:
1) Every single time, Miranda Lyn's characters' relationships go from 0 to a million in under a page. There is no breathing space for the relationships to flower and develop naturally - and that is true for romantic relationships but also for friendships in this trilogy. Gaea and Ara become bff overnight, in this weird ellipsis that is not really explained. What do they bond over? What makes them so close to one another? Greeve and Gaea? Everything happens off page. It's a BOOK, we need details.
2) Again, as I said in book 2, conflict is resolved pretty swiftly and the reader has almost no time to feel any kind of suspense, apart maybe from the last battle scene. After 2 books in this world, you just know that Ara will make it out unscathed as usual. A prime example is her imprisonment in the Sea prison (was that in book 2?) - Fen and Kai just turn up with magic snorkeling earrings and save the day despite Morwenna being described as a "Leviathan" - she ends up being vapourized like fish food. I was expecting more hurdles. Also, the fact that Ara's soul gets damaged every time she uses her power - what impact does it have on who she is in the end? We don't know. Also, we're told mates are super rare and of course every single person in this merry band ends up being mated. Sigh.
Safe to say - there were a few inconsistencies that bothered me, but at the end of the day the story was good enough, I enjoyed the characters' journeys etc. and the ending had me in (graceful) tears - ALTHOUGH I think That was literally overkill.
Still a really cool series.

This is going to be a review of the full series, because it’s all a jumbled mess in my head. I picked up the first book 3 days ago, and have barely put my kindle down since (I had to sleep, and do a little adulting…)
This is fantastic N/A fantasy series. I say N/A, but there’s one short sex scene in the first book, none in the second, then several in the third.
There is so much that I loved about these books. The world development, character growth, that slow burn romance….I’m a sucker for the slow burn 🥰 The characters were almost all so great. I had a few mins of hating the female MC a few times, but she did what she had to. I do wish there would have been another book or two so that we could have gotten deeper into each of the characters and their relationships. I wish we would have gotten more from Fen, more with the bond between Ara and Greeve, and definitely more with the entire group of draconians. I will say I really loved of what we got with Ara and Gaea, because I feel like there need to be more ride or die female friendships out there.
A few things I didn’t love - so much of Temir. I get why he had to be in the books, but his character was so boring. I was really tempted to skim his chapters. It was a little disorienting to have so much modern language, especially by the time we got to the third book.
Fair warning - there are parts of this story that will rip out your heart, similar to how SJM did by killing off the Thirteen.
I finished this book an hour ago, I am still sobbing. My heart is racing and I love and hate the author in equal parts.
In all seriousness five stars doesn’t even come close to how I feel about this series. This book is by far the most exceptional and is right up there as one of the best books I have ever read.
Miranda develops her characters so well that they feel like family, you are so invested in them it just all feels so real. I could visibly picture every scene written and that takes huge talent.
I’m not going to post any spoilers in regards to storyline but this is a series that must be read. Book 1 is good, it builds the world and introduces you to all of the characters and their places in the story. Book 2 is where you will really connect to the story and develop a deep investment and book 3 is just phenomenal, there is amazing growth In this series and I am very very Thankful that Miranda trusted me with her Baby. as much as I joke that I hate her (maybe just a little!! ) I understand that every word she wrote worked for this series and was necessary. I have never connected to characters as I did here and I have spent the last 24 hours laughing and sobbing.
The acknowledgments at the end summed it up perfectly for me.
Thank you Miranda, you are extremely talented and I am excited for what comes next from you.
What the hell just happened?? I’m devastated! Story here in the third instalment is fast paced and full of action. This book has outdone herself from the first two, although I love all three. The emotions are heightened, I felt like crying. I know everything can’t be picture perfect and every favourite character can’t live forever but still it pains to read the end of one.
The twists and turns of the story, you will not see it coming until it actually happens. The base developed for the entire world is charismatic and learning new things was freshening. It's a must read. Fate is cunning, you can’t outrun it. I’ll catch up sooner or later.
All the characters are ideal, they connect to the heart. Their bonding is strong. A major goal for friendship and family. Just standing together no matter what happens was fabulous.
I was really loving the series but at the end in the final moments it was really heart breaking and downer for me.I really can't accept death of 2 main characters .Maybe somer readers wouldn't agree with my opinion but this is just it no readers are same.I would say there would be losses but I felt death of those 2 were just down for me and way too much. Specially Gaea she suffered so much in her life and finally she also deserved peace and for this I don't think as one of the main characters ,as her whole journey was specifically portrayed her death I didn't feel was justified.
The excitement and love for this series and characters is really strong for me that's why I cannot accept the death and it really broke my heart and last few chapters drowned my happiness immensely .And I can't just give it my all.
I liked this book a bit more than the other two in this series ...but the modern day language used in the dialogues really didn't work for me. I found it to be jarring and out of place. The plot was interesting and the pacing was good. Character development was a mixed bag, in my opinion. Personally I didn't like Ara - throughout the series but even more so in this book. However I did enjoy some of the secondary characters alot. And although I do think that some deaths were necessary to make the story more realistic, I don't think killing these certain characters made justice in the end. I would have chosen a different combo. Overall I am glad I finished this series but it is not one of my faves.
I've enjoyed this series from the first book and it just got better with each one. The world, the characters, the fated mates, the found family, the DRAGONS! I also really appreciated that most of the spice was saved for the final book. It didn't feel repetitive and unnecessary like so many romantasy series tend to.
Miranda knows how to write a beautiful story and this is one that will stay with me. The only complaint I have is that I can't stay in this world longer. *sigh*
I can't believe it's over! I tried to savor this last book - however, that's hard to do when you can't put it down.
Fast paced, twists & turns - a wild journey that I won't soon be forgetting. I was totally invested in the story and the characters. Each person had a special place in my heart and I was extremely upset that it had to end.
The writing of all these books was phenomenal. I will definitely read any book that Miranda Lyn puts forth!
I'm so sad to say goodbye to this story and the characters!
It was so beautifully written. An emotional rollercoaster from the very first page, my heart was broken at parts, but mended back together piece by piece and Miranda Lyn delivered an EPIC conclusion to the stories of Ara and Temir. Every single loose end and unanswered question was tied up perfectly, and I was left feeling sad to say goodbye but oh so satisfied with these beloved characters.
The story was great, though some parts felt a bit rushed. Fen was the stock Faerie prince, a little bit more characterization on his end would have been nice. Ara was most of the time a brat, she def won't be among my fav heroines anytime soon. And how the hell everybody ends with a mate anyways? Don't get me started on how Nadra came out alive from that battle, and being inside Temir's head for half the book was torture enough.
I really enjoyed this series, and I loved Ara. Her ability to just annoy but to also befriend others, especially the dragon who shan't be named.
I'm beyond gutted over how some of the characters' stories ended. I get that not everyone can and should survive in war, but it still hurts nonetheless. #justiceforgaea
I need time before I read Tides and Ruin, but Miranda Lyn is becoming a firm favourite!

I gasped out loud. I cried literal tears. I laughed. I smiled. Literally every range of emotion came out while reading this book.
Miranda really created a beautiful world and story and I love the way this story ended. Every single character and relationship grew during this series.
Pick this up ASAP and be ready with a box of tissues.
If you were looking for a book to break your heart, you can look no further. This is a book about magic, love and an epic battle. The story got better with each book and this one was hardest to put down at the reasonable hour.
If you enjoyed TOG you will certainly enjoy these books, maybe even more so. Fate and Flame had same level of heartbreak as KoA for me 💔
I LOVED IT! I will be singing my praises of this series for a very long time. It is a story told through multiple points of views woven together in a beautiful, heart wrenching story. I loved the romance, friendships, challenges, and mythical creatures. It is an adult series and definitely has some spicy scenes! These books will linger in my heart as a favorite series.
I haven't cried so hard while reading a book in a long time... And usually it's temporary, but seeing the deaths at the end and the fact it was real and irreversible (not like a lot of fantasy stories!) It broke my heart!
Still lived the book, but I'm gonna have to wait a bit to read the spin off, cause I know I'll cry again...
