Welcome to the coziest, vampire-owned tea room in Bath! It’s steeped in magic and mystery.

You’d expect serving afternoon tea to a high-society ladies club to go smoothly, right?

Newbie witch and marketing whiz Minnie Wells thought so. She’s in need of some smooth sailing, considering her plate is full with magic lessons, marketing the tea room, and navigating a divorce during the most romantic time of the year. But the women’s “Galentine’s” Day celebration is thrown into chaos when their event coordinator is stabbed in the back with a pink stiletto.

Now her handsome boss (who Minnie might have a little crush on) is in hot water with the vampire council and the group’s down a guide.

When Minnie’s offered the position for the weekend, she eagerly agrees to show the women around the gorgeous city of Bath. Not only to make some extra cash so she and her black cat can stop crashing on her vampire bestie’s couch, but also because she’ll get an an all-access pass to snoop out the killer and clear her boss’s name.

When another body turns up though, Minnie suspects she may be in over her head!

Will Minnie figure out who’s got it out for these upper class ladies and save her boss from the vampire council’s wrath? Or will the killer tire of Minnie’s meddling, and have a score to kettle?

I am totally loving this new series from Erin Johnson.
One thing I have noticed with all of Erin's book is her gifted ability to shape the characters so complete you end up feeling like you know them as a real person.
She creates such loveable characters, charming handsome ones , and animals that you wish you owned .
These books are very well written , so much so you feel transported into them.
These books really come to life and are a joy to read.
Also I may have a little thing for Fitz and need the next book ASAP.

I am so in love with this series! We catch back up with Minnie just as she is finally getting comfortable with her new job at the tea room. She finds herself having to go with her vampire boss when is summoned by the Vampire Council thanks to another murder that happened by the tea room. Without thinking about she agrees to solve the murder in an effort to save her boss. This sure makes things interesting as she is under a tight time line. Set in a fascinating world you will quickly find yourself loving Minnie and all her sass. I cannot wait to see what she gets up to next. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. With Scream and Sugar by Erin Johnson is where we learn more about this world that Ms. Johnson has created.
Can Minnie be able to figure out who the killer is before her deadline?
Minnie Wells
Minnie is back and at it again, helping to solve another mystery. This time because she stuck her nose where it shouldn't have been at the vampire council meeting. She seems to be getting the hang of her powers, and we are going more in-depth into this world that Ms. Johnson has created. Minnie is a great character that I love getting to know through her perspective and books. I like Minnie because she is different from Ms. Johnson's other two main characters but still has that sense that she belongs in the world that she is fighting to stay apart of. I also like that she is trying to get to know her two vampire friends more than she already does to understand them better. The last thing that I like about her is that she's trying to make life work in Bath even if some things are making it difficult.
The Mystery
With Scream and Sugar CRThe one who put the vampire council's attention on Fitz about his tearoom did not look good for their community. Well, mostly that they think he's involved. Minnie is now tasked with solving it and proving his innocence. She has a lot of questions that need answers to solve this mystery. Including why would anyone kill the tour guide that they barely know? And why was she nervous about a book that someone has anonymously given to the old lady? These questions and more get answered as the mystery unfolds. Minnie gets closer to not only Fitz, her vampire boss, but also a certain detective inspector.
Five Stars
With Scream and Sugar by Erin Johnson is such a fantastic read. I love how she has incorporated each new series she has done to fit into the world that she created for Spells and Caramels. For fans of that series, you might recognize someone's name. We are now exploring the Earth Kingdom, and it's nice to explore a different kingdom without being bogged down by spending too much in the Water Kingdom. I am giving this book five stars and recommending it to anyone who loves a good paranormal cozy mystery series!

Book 2 in the Vampire Tearoom series, another cozy mystery that was cool and satisfying. Minnie is learning more about her magic and how to yield it, crushing on her vampire boss while flirting with DI Prescott and of course, there’s a murrrrrder!! The mystery was okay and I pretty much had my suspicions of who the murderer was early on, but overall, reading Minnie’s interaction with the group of women was just funny. It’s that friend group that pretends to be perfect on the surface but once you peer beneath the veneer it’s rotten to the core.. yep that’s them 😑😑👍🏾

In the meantime, Minnie has better things to worry about.

A solid 4.3 stars

This continues to be a cute cozy/paranormal mystery series. As the book opens, another murder occurs that seems linked to the tea room owned by the handsome vampire Fitz. When Gus (Minnie's roommate and also a vampire) asks Minnie to attend the Vampire Council meeting, Minnie ends up offering to help investigate the murder. If she doesn't succeed, something bad will happen to Fitz, and even worse to Minnie.

There were many potential murderers, all linked to a Jane Austen loving group visiting Bath from London from the weekend. I liked getting to know the characters more, and enjoyed the mystery. I will definitely pick up the third in the series.

This is the second book in the Vampire Tea Room Magical Mystery series by Erin Johnson.

Minnie is back and a new death has come knocking at the door of Fitz’s Butler’s restaurant in Bath. Amanda, a Jane Austen Tour Guide is found murdered outside the restaurant with a stiletto shoe shoved in her back. This murder has consequences for Fitz when he is called to the Vampire Council to plead his case. Too many murders have happened in Fitz’s restaurant and his sire wants to bring him back to “the nest” due to his insolence. Minnie promises to find the real killer putting herself and her pretty little heck in danger if she doesn’t succeed.

These books are easy to read and very addicting. I look forward to learning more about Minnie, Gus, Fitz and DC Prescott with each book. The characters are more rounded out now and I understand their motivations a little better. Book three is definitely on my must read list.

You cam read this book for free with a Kindle Unlimited subscription but I had bought this book via the Kindle store earlier in the year.

Fun series!

This is the second installment in the Magical Tea Room Mysteries series. I love the cozy paranormal mystery feel and I’m really enjoying the storyline.

Minnie is a witch who is just discovering her powers and learning about her magic. She’s working as a marketing specialist for her friend Fitz’s tea room. Business is booming, and is drawing interest from many Regency era enthusiasts. A group of those enthusiasts comes to the tea room and their tour guide is discovered with a stiletto buried in her back.

Fitz is under scrutiny by the Vampire Council, as this is the second murder surrounding the tea room. Minnie is tasked with uncovering the true murderer or Fitz will be required to return “to the nest.”

I really enjoy these characters and look forward to more books to come!

A light, enjoyable, double-homicide vampire mystery

Who would've thought I'd ever string those words together for a review? So far, these books have been a quick escape when I could read a page or three. There's nothing earth shattering or scenes that will wrench you into emotional toil, but with the state of affairs today (COVID variants, monkeypox, shootings, and the political caterwauling that always seems to accompany everything) sometimes a story with a guaranteed even emotional keel is a lifeline.

Minnie is back in action marketing, serving tea and sleuthing. Well, she didn’t intend to be sleuthing but offering up her services to help a friend in need has her in dire straits. There will be a nest of vampires to answer to if she doesn’t get this one right.

We have a murder to solve… two actually. Firstly, we’ve got to figure out who killed sweet, efficient tour operator, Amanda. While working on that mystery, another body drops and things get even juicier… or maybe a bit crazier. The dynamic of the ladies’ club is a great element for this story. I love the backstabbing and snark that plays out across the group. Those attitudes offer up several suspects and cast the red herrings. They also contrast brilliantly against Minnie’s kindness and her genuine friendship with Fitz and Gus. When a major clue drops in the final quarter of the book, things fall into place. However, the set up for the final showdown remains engrossing, especially as Fitz and Gus have a part to play!

Other than the main mystery, we have other series aspects coming into play. There is some allusion to vampire and witch hunters, we have Minnie’s growing powers and we also have possible interference from her ex-husband. I’m looking forward to reading how they all play out. Oh and the romance… hmm… Fitz or the handsome detective….?

As a cute addition, I loved the reference to Francis, the vampire from Spells and Caramels. You mean he isn’t the last vampire in the kingdoms?! I love when authors throw in these unassuming little nuggets for their regular readers to enjoy.

Overall, With Scream and Sugar is a great second instalment in the Vampire Tea Room Mysteries. I’m all sucked into this whimsical series and can’t wait to gobble up some more.

A lot better than the first book, in my opinion. I‘m still not very fond of the writing style but the story was good. The murder case was more interesting and gripping and I overall enjoyed this book quite a lot.

Book two in the Vampire Tea Room series, "With Scream and Sugar". Erin Johnson continues to do what she does best, provide the reader with great character development and a solid, entertaining story line. Her playful and humorous style, laced with plenty of puns allows the reader to be entertained without taking away from the intrigue of the story. She even manages to "name drop" a character from one of her other series (and if you haven't read any of her other series, what are you waiting for??) in a way that is important to the story as well as to the back ground of the character himself. While the book can be read as a standalone, I would recommend starting at the beginning to fully understand the characters and their backgrounds.

In the first book of this series, Minnie manages to convince Fitz to hire her. Now we get to see some of the results of her marketing ideas.

The Regency Ladies Club has booked the Butler's Cafe for Galentine's day. They would be doing a weekend of Regency themed activities for Valentine's Day. Their tour guide Amanda is one of the people Minnie contacted to boost the cafe's business.

The cafe is packed, everyone is running around and even Minnie is helping by busing tables. The club even has anonymous gift giving for this event, with pouches of gifts on the back of every chair.

One of the women received an extravagant gift, a first edition of Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. When she held it up, Amelia notices the page edges are gilded in a bright emerald green. However, when she asks for a closer look the woman Julianne slaps her.

Composing herself Amelia leaves the room and heads outside. When their time to leave approaches, Renee, the organizer asks if Minnie's seen Amelia. Things get interesting as Minnie finds Amelia's body in the alley behind the Cafe.

However, this doesn't end for Minnie with just a police interview. Renee asks her to lead the tour group through the rest of the weekend, but Minnie declines since the Cafe is too busy for her to take time off.

To top this day off the Vampire council wants to speak with her regarding the previous murder and this one and the connection to Fitz's Cafe. They are convinced Fitz is killing these people and should be confined to their 'nest' and not free among humans.

After the council meeting Minnie has no choice but to agree to lead the tour group. That in itself is quite the experience as she also tries to get clues as to who had motive to kill Amelia.

There aren't many clues here. The murder weapon was the very pregnant Bunny's stiletto that she had taken off as soon as they arrived at the cafe and left by the door. Easy access for anyone. The other clue is the bookmark that fell out of the first edition Northanger Abbey.

Oh the twists and turns that Minnie has to follow in order to solve this intense mystery. Both her life and Fitz's is on the line and she cannot fail.

I am loving this series and I've already started the next book.

I’m happy to report book number two in this cozy witchy series also had a murder mystery to unravel. Minnie as our witchy Nancy Drew is such a fun character I am 100% hooked onto this series. On top of a new murder to solve we delve more into the supernatural world as Minnie meets the vampire council for the first time to help Fitz out of a sticky situation. It’s a fun series to read and I enjoy learning more about the supernatural world with Minnie who is completely clueless about it all.

Poor Fitz cannot catch a break as another person is murdered near his restaurant. It’s a prime reason for him having issues with the vampire council. Him and Minnie are given an ultimatum to prove he’s not involved in the murders or else he’ll have to be under control of the council and lose his vampire independence. They have 3 days, 3 days! That seemed like too little time to me but they both have awesome supernatural abilities on their side.

The mystery does not disappoint. I enjoyed trying to figure out who the real killer was as Minnie investigated and found more clues. For a book set on Valentine’s Day weekend there wasn’t a ton of romance but a lot of set up for future romances. In the first book I was rooting for Minnie and the detective but I’m starting to see the appeal of Fitz. I feel like this book we finally get to see more sides of the vampire baker and he is pretty charming. I’m excited to see more romance for Minnie in future books.

I highly recommend this series it’s an extremely fun read and the books are short enough to read in a day or two. This is a great way for me to catch up on my reading goal at the end of the year. I love the murder mystery aspect paired with the supernatural world. There is a ton of humor too and I love all the Jane Austen references. I’m ready to pick up the next book already.

Minnie's marketing work for the Bath Butler Café has been a huge success. The café is growing in popularity and most days, every table is occupied. The book begins with a large group of women coming in to celebrate "Galentine's Day" on Valentine's weekend. During the event, a couple scuffles take place, and the event coordinator is found dead outside the tea house. This puts everyone on police radar, and Fitz on the vampire council radar. In order to save the reputation of Bath Butler Café, and possible the undead life of Fitz, Minnie must figure out who had it out for the coordinator

Minnie is a fun character. She's kind and caring and completely devoted to the Bath Butler Café. Her marketing techniques have put the tearoom on the map. She is selfless and stands up to the vampire council in an effort to protect Fitz. How can you not love her for that?! I love Minnie's interactions with Fitz. The ending wasn't what I was hoping for, but the series is young and there is still time to flesh out the romantic angles.

I've been a huge fan of Erin Johnson since Seashells, Spells & Caramels (Spells & Caramels, Book1) was released in 2017. I was excited to learn about the upcoming Vampire Tea Room Magical Mysteries series. Spelling the Tea is a fantastic book. I enjoyed the setting, the characters, and the mystery. Minnie is a fun character, determined to earn her place at Bath Butler Cafe. The secondary characters round out a wonderful cast. The author's writing style, the pacing, and story kept me engaged. I loved the book and can't wait to see what happens with Minnie next!

In book two of this series, Minnie is now working for Fitz in the tea room. Business has been booming since she made some adjustments to the shop. During a visit from the Regency Ladies Club, a spat break out when one of the ladies gives the cranky old member a beautiful first edition Jane Austin book. The leader if the tour tries to let the old crank that she is worried about the book and wants to borrow it for a moment. For this, she gets slapped. The tour leader goes outside and the party goes on. After a while, Minnie begins to worry when she can’t find the tour leader and goes out to look for her. She finds her in the alley, dead. This causes big problems, both with the tour, which Minnie is talked into taking over, and with Fitz’s vampire council. Minnie promises to prove Fitz had nothing to do with the death so that they can’t take him away. As the tour goes on, Minnie gathers clues until she finally puts the pieces together. All the while, she is still dealing with her ex, growing feelings for the detective as well as feeling for Fitz. These characters are so well written that you almost don’t care when the cranky old lady dies, and you aren’t quite sure who to root for, the handsome detective or the gorgeous vampire. I look forward to book three to see where this is leading!

I love all of Erin Johnson's books and they just keep getting better. In this series, she's hitting some of my all-time favorite boxes. I love Jane Austen just like the author and Minnie the main character in the Vampire Tea Room Magical Mysteries. I also have had a life-long love of vampires (even the scary ones), so when you combine the two, you have a major hit for me.

In this one, Minnie's marketing skills have put Vampire Fitz's tearoom on the map and during a hectic Ladies of Austen club visit, Minnie discovers the club's tour director, dead, in the alley by the kitchen door. Fitz is called to account in front of the Vampire Council and Minnie jumps in to save him, putting her neck at risk literally. Now, she has to find the murderer to keep Fitz out of nest arrest.

Taking the tour directors place puts Minnie smack dab in the center of ruthless women and gossip. Will she find the murderer or be a victim of the ladies club or worse yet vampires? And if that's not enough, Fitz and DI Prescott both seem to be interested when she's not sure she's ready for romance anyway.

Read the book to find out what happens, it's great! I can't wait for the next one. I would definitely recommend reading these books in order.

This is the second book in the series and I may stop with this one.

It's about a new witch (aren't they all now?) who is also a Jane Austen fan. She is living in England but has to get a job or she will have to go back to the US now that she is divorced from her cheating husband! She has a temporary jib as the marketing whiz for a Regency-themed tea room owned by a vampire.

She is busy with magic lessons, marketing the tea room, and navigating her divorce. A women’s “Galentine’s” Day celebration is thrown into chaos when their event coordinator is stabbed in the back with a pink stiletto.

The vampire council is not happy about the second murder in a matter of weeks. And the group is down a guide. Minnie is offered the position for the weekend, she eagerly agrees to show the women around the gorgeous city of Bath. She needs the extra cash and thinks this will give her a chance to try to find the killer and clear her boss.

Another body turns up and Minnie may be in over her head!

Number two in the series delivers another lively adventure. The characters are well-written, delightful, and full of life. I always enjoy an Erin Johnson book set in the paranormal.

Minnie is working at the café. She has improved their business through her marketing tweaks. A tour guide is killed just outside of the café while her group is inside enjoying the tea service. The vampire council wants to cart Fitz away but Minnie sets out to prove he had nothing to do with the murder. She has three days to accomplish the task or the vampire council will take action.
I couldn’t get enough of the story. Ms. Johnson keep the stories coming. I like the twist in the plot as Minnie is attracted to Fitz, her handsome vampire boss and one of the detectives. She’s not quite ready to date as she is working through a divorce from the guy that dumped her.

I received an advanced copy of the book and am not required to leave a positive review.

Minnie is running around with due to another tour that is at the tearoom. The tour guide Amanda steps out after having a bad moment with a member of the tour. Minnie doesn't see Amanda for awhile and goes looking for her. Minnie finds the someone has killed Amanda, now they have another murder attached to their tea room. Minnie is asked to help Fitz with the Vampire council, they are trying to lay the blame at his feet. Due to Minnie speaking up, she now has no choice but to find the murderer or things will turn out badly for the both of them.

This book has you hooked from the beginning. The author has you on rollercoaster ride as Minnie tries to find the murderer. Minnie and Fitz will work together to bring the real murder to justice. Minnie also has some feeling for two men. Minnie also hears from her husband and learns more about the magic and the surround world. This was such a great read. You will get lost in the book and will be over before you are ready.

Another brillant book and second in the series, I can't wait for the other books in the series. Minnie again gets involved with a murder which happens just outside the tearoom to a tour guide. The characters in the book are brilliant and you get such a good picture from how they are described. I love the interactions between Minnie and Fitz and we see more of there relationship and how its developing and I am becoming quite hopeful they get there ever after. This time Minnie has to save her neck and Fitz from the vampire council and she becomes a tour guide to a pack of eccentric ladies visiting Bath. Any one who loves the regency era and Jane Austin will love this book for all the little details. I definitely recommend this book and I can't wait for the next one in the series. If you want an afternoon cuddling under a blanket this book is for you. GET IT you won't be disappointed.

This is the second book in the Tea Room series. Things seem to be going well for Minnie. She is working at the regency themed Butler Bath Café as their marketing manager. She's helped the business to boom by focusing on marketing the café with Jane Austen fans and Regency Group Tours. A murder occurs and Minnie is determined to find out what happened. Minnie is a fledgling witch, working for Fitz, an ages old vampire. There are several twists, one including the Vampire Council who wants to pull Fitz back into the "nest". Minnie wants to help Fitz clear his name and does some sleuthing. You'll love this cozy paranormal novel and the cast of characters. Looking forward to the next book to see if local rumors of witch hunters and vampire hunters occurs. If you have read and loved Erin Johnson's other series, you'll love this one too!

Regency Ruins front

When you find an interesting new series, sometimes the 2nd story is slightly not as intriguing. Fortunately, this is not true of With Scream and Sugar. Minnie is back with all the sass she started with in the 1st of the series. Fitz is hauled in front of the dreaded Vampire council due to another murder in the vicinity of the tearoom, the tour guide of the Regency Group celebrating Galentine's Day in the restaurant. Minnie rather naively speaks up for him at the meeting. Leader Darius wants Fitz confined to the vampire nest, declaring that that the murder brings too much attention from humans. When she offers to find the murderer, Darius gives her 3 days or Fitz must lose his independence. Something is off about him but Minnie is determined to get justice for both Fritz & the tour guide. Because she just can't lose him now.

Such a satisfying read

I'm loving this series! Minnie is such a charmer: sassy, smart, and humble, and it is enjoyable to read about a neophyte witch who is actively trying to get a handle on her abilities. Fitz is sublime and full of old-fashioned gentility; I'd have him if Minnie doesn't! Gus is a perfect, supportive, and protective bestie and not too snarky. I'm withholding judgment on Prescott; it will be good to get more background on him and the butlers.

The murder mystery is well-constructed and engages the reader to follow along with carefully placed clues. I also respect the choice not to have the inspectors appear incompetent; it makes for a more enjoyable read. I'm eager for the next "Magical Tea Room" mysteries; I want to know more about Mim and the council and how Gus has avoided them and...!

My series keeps getting better and better. Minnie loves working at the Butler Cafe and as Marketing Manager the business has picked up and they have been busier than ever. But on this particular occasion, another murder takes place at the cafe. This time the vampire council steps in and Gus asks Minnie to help Fitz regain his freedom. My favorite characters are Minnie and Tilda, The Cat. I most highly recommend this book. Ms. Johnson's writing has a certain touch, that has left me wanting more and I can't wait for the next book in this series. I gave this book five stars because that is what it deserves. If you want to know what happens, I suggest you get the book and read it. Thank you.

Minnie Wells is getting a fresh start handling marketing for a tea room in Bath, England, as she makes her way through a messy divorce. The guests of the tea room have no idea that the owner of the business is a vampire, or that Minnie is a witch in training. Thanks to Minnie's marketing skills, the tea room is busier than ever, but when one of their customers is murdered right outside the cafe, the vampire council begins to take notice. Minnie is determined to help her handsome vampire boss prove his innocence, or she may be out of a job, and on the wrong side of the vampire council, which is never a good thing.

I really enjoyed this book. There are plenty of viable suspects for Minnie to keep her eye on, and her lesson in magic was interesting, as well.

Another cute, whimsical little story about Minnie, the witch. She once again stumbles over a body, this time in the alley behind the Bath tearoom.

The Vampire council is not happy about it and wants to bring Fitz back in the nest. Minnie stands up for her boss/friend and the council gives her three days to bring proof that Fitz is innocent otherwise not only Fitz will return to the nest, but Minnie will end up as Vampire snack. Talk about incentive to solve the murder.

During Minnie's sleuthing, her magical lessons with elder witch Mim, a second murder happens...

Lovely, enjoyable story, well written with likeable characters. Can't wait for the next one. Oh wait, I don't need to wait... I'm starting it later this day.

Two deaths and a threat to Fitz

With business booming following Minnie's advertising scheme Fitz is swamped when a ladies club book out the café as part of their "Galentine's" weekend in Bath.

Minnie goes in search of Amanda the guide to discuss scones and discovers things are not as happy as she'd thought between the group members. In fact one of them has killed Amanda.

With the vampire counsel determined to take Fitz back to the nest for drawing attention to himself and Minnie risking being drained to defend her friend and boss it's a race to discover the culprit and get the police to arrest the killer in time.

What does the vampire Council want to snack on?

Hopefully not on Minnie!
Another murder has taken place right outside the Butler's Tea Shop, and the council is using it as an excuse to rein Fitz back into the "nest", and back under his maker's control.
Gus asks her to speak to the council on Fitz' behalf, and she does.
They give her three days to solve the mystery of" who done it ", and prove the murderer is human, or else.
Solve a murder case, or be drained by vampires...
No pressure.
Then someone else dies.
I highly recommend this series!
It's fun, entertaining, and Minnie's familiar is adorable!

I’m now officially addicted to cozy mysteries. Who would have thought! “The Magical Tea Room Mysteries” is still one of the better series I’ve read (vampires, cute tea rooms, Regency England—swoon), but volume 2 wasn’t as good as it could have been. I’m not a fan of the love triangle that’s so dominant in this genre, and it looks like it’s becoming a staple in this series too. I also didn’t like that the murder reminded me too much of Umberto Eco’s “The Name of the Rose”. The writing was sadly also not that great. But nevertheless, sometimes, I just want something silly to read, and this book hit the spot.
