weird
Not sure if I’m over reading or just not finding good books to read but this was like wading through sand. Trying to work out what the story was but in essence there was no real linkage to anything and the female lead came over as naive and stupid. Not a keeper or author I’ll follow.

Oliver and Mari had a lovely story but the fundamental problem is I cared much more about Pierce and Katy, I don’t think I’ve ever had a 10 book lead up to a HEA before

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
This book is the first book in the Pelican Bay Billionaires series it appears each book will read as a standalone however, why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Mari is sweet, treats others well for the most part, was from a wealthy family and had it all until she was betrayed by her boyfriend and instead of walking away, she chose to get back by exposing him in the tabloids. Needless to say, it wasn’t her best decision it not only caused a scandal but also caused her to be outcast in her community. Instead of her parents standing by her they chose to be disowned her. She left for Guatemala helping others to get fresh water prior to leaving she was just like her parents thinking money was the solution to all problems until she went realized not everyone lived the way she used to. Needing more money, she came back to the US to request money from Pierce Kensington and of course he agreed with one stipulation she become his fake fiancé for six months. She meets Oliver and the chemistry is intense and instant, the magnetic pull can’t be ignored but will his cousin agree to them being together, what happens when she catches Pierce kissing another woman, will she return to Guatemala to continue helping the people and will they find happiness?

This is the first book in the Pelican Bay Billionaires Series but can be read as a standalone. This is Mari, Oliver and Pierce's story. Mari is from a wealthy family and had it all until she was betrayed by her boyfriend and she chose to get back by exposing him in the tabloids. She took solace in Guatemala helping others obtain fresh water. Before moving to Guatemala she thought money solved all problems. But she soon learned the fate of third world countries. Knowing she needed more money for the water project she came back to the US to ask for funds from wealthy Pierce Kensington at her aunt's suggestion. She was amazed that he offered her two million dollars for her project if she would pose as his fake fiance for six months. We've all read these fake fiance stories before but this one had a twist or two. There's Pierce's cousin Oliver who quickly won her heart. An ex employee with a gun held at her head. They mysterious Katy who she caught her 'fake' fiance Pierce kissing and more. What happens when Pierce gives his permission to Oliver and Mari? What about their trip to Guatemala? What about their wedding? The two precious children they adopted? And more - this was a cute read that I read as a free book via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review. A happy ending with no cliffhanger.

This is the first book in the Pelican Bay Billionaires series which is a spinoff from the Pelican Bay Security Series. You don't have to read the series to enjoy this book but if you have you will recognize some of the characters to include Pierce Kensington who is part of the main plot of this book. It was great being back in Pelican Bay. This book had me giggling at times and I love Oliver and Mari together. The attraction between them is instant but they fight it because Mari is there in Pelican Bay to be Pierce's fake fiancé. Mari need the money Pierce is paying her for her clean water project and it would be nice or right for Oliver to steal his cousin’s fake fiancé, right? Oliver is pretty much the polar opposite of his cousin Pierce. He's not afraid to have fun and enjoy the little things in life. Pierce is a lot more serious and seems to have more weighing him down. Man, I can't wait to find out what happened between him and Katy. Katy has always treated Pierce as if he's an evil villain.

Oh my gosh I LOVED this book!
Mari is at a crossroads in her life, having fallen from Grace from her high society family and job to living in Guatemala helping bring fresh water to villages. She didn’t like who she used to be but is still trying to figure out who the real Mari is.
She enters into a fake engagement with Pierce Kensington to help him win favour with the citizens of Pelican Bay in exchange for her £2million to fund her projects in Guatemala.
It was all going well until she meets his cousin, Oliver. It was obvious there was chemistry between the two.. I loved how the heat built between them. I was egging them on, I read this book SO quickly (under 24hrs!) I needed to know what happened between them.
Oliver is a rich man, but he’s like Mari at heart, giving back to the world. He’s determined to live it better than he found it.
I’m curious about Pierce and Katy.. I hope there is going to be another book about the pair and more tales from Pelican Bay.
I really enjoyed this book, and I’m looking forward to reading more from Megan Matthews.

This is my first time reading this author. This story easily stands alone though it seems to be part of a series. In this story we meet three people. Mari, Oliver and Pierce. Pierce makes a deal with Mari if she is his fake fiancee, Oliver is his cousin and knows its fake but as he gets to know Mari he finds himself falling hard for her.
Why does Pierce need a fake fiancee? And why is the housekepper who was fired trying to keep sneak into Pierces office? and whats the real story with Katy and Pierce and the Bed and Breakfast he wants to buy?
All these questions made for a very interesting story. The town of Pelican Bay is a bit quirky with lots of questions and in the middle of this Mari and Oliver cannot help falling for each other. It was a fast moving story and I enjoyed meeting the characters in the story and getting to know the town and getting some of my questions answered. I cannot wait for the next book which hopefully will feature Pierce and Katy.

Another great read from Pelican Bay. Mari arrives in Pelican Bay to try and raise money for a water project in Guatemala, and after meeting with Pierce Kensington, he agrees to give her the money if she pretends to be his fiancée for 6 month. For unknown reasons Mari agrees however she doesn’t bet on falling for Pierce’s cousin Oliver. However Mari can’t give in to her feelings when it risks the project she has worked so hard for. Oliver is attracted to Mari and feels a deep connection with her however she is still his cousins fake fiancée and it doesn’t feel right. However when Mari eventually approached him and declares her feelings he knows he can’t let her go and no matter what he has to tell his cousin, snd when they are confronted at gun point Mari and Oliver aren’t long in deciding to leave Pelican Bay together. A great read, as usual it wouldn’t be Pelican Bay if there wasn’t drama. Can’t wait for more in this series.

This is book one in The Pelican Bay Billionaires Series and it is Mari's story. After Mari was betrayed by her boyfriend she exposed him causing a scandal that she was not prepared for so she decided to leave and travelled to Guatemala to help the people that were less fortunate but when she needed money for a water project she decided to go to ask only for him to ask her to be his take fiance for six months and he will give her the money that she needed and that is when the story for really interesting. There are twists and turns along the way that you don't see coming and I couldn't put this book down as it was so addictive. I absolutely loved this story and it is a great start to a new series and I look forward to reading the next book. Megan Matthews is an amazing author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will definitely not be disappointed.

I liked this new take on a fake fiancée romance. It’s a new approach to have someone who knows about the fake relationship to start having feelings for one of them. Mari and Pierce have a mutually beneficial arrangement. He will give her money for a humanitarian project in Guatemala and she will help gain him the love of the townspeople in Pelican Bay. When his cousin Oliver comes to town it throws a wrench in the plans. He wants Mari for himself and she feels things for him that she doesn’t feel for Pierce. Can they find their HEA without messing up Pierce’s reputation? I would also be interested in reading stories about other characters in Pelican Bay so hopefully there are books about them in the future.

This is a new author for me. I see she has quite a few series and I look forward to reading them. This is book 1 of two of the Pelican Bay Billionaires series. The story centers around Pierce and Mari. Pierce asks Mari, a family friend, to be his fake fiancé for 6 months in return he promises her $2 million bucks. Pierce knows she needs the money to fund her clean water project in Guatemala. This business deal takes a different turn when Pierce’s cousin, Oliver meets Mari and is interested in her himself. Mari has a shock when she sees Pierce kiss Katy and Katy is his sworn enemy. Lots of twists and turns and who knows who’ll end up with each other.

Family Business is a fake fiancee romance with a twist between Mari, who has been working on a clean water project in Guatemala until the funds are exhausted, Pierce, who offers her two million dollars to be his fake fiancee for six months, and Oliver, the cousin of Pierce who falls for Mari and competes for her. This book has a refreshing and unique twist to the average fake fiancee books. The characters are amazing and the book is a fast paced read which I found totally enjoyable.

Only a soap opera has this much going on behind peoples backs. This story has Mari, Pierce and Oliver all crisscrossing paths and causing situation that change things drastically. The storyline goes in many directions. The surprises and twists keep you on your toes. By the end of the story, so much has changed, but real relationships always win out. I will have to reread this to see if I missed anything earlier.

This is a new series is off to a nice start. We have 3 main characters who have some family drama going on. They will have you laughing at times along with some drama in the mix. Nice read and well written. Ready for the next book

A seriously good page turner...
I won't go into the story which has been covered by the blurb & prior reviews. It was not your typical fake fiance story. Well written & detailed I got really invested in a happy outcome for the heroine who found a like minded hands on philanthropist who could fulfill all her dreams. An amazing well written entertaining small town romance story. This engaging storyline is a fake fiance story with a twist or twi. It's an addicting slow burn with lots of great secondary characters that kept me turning the pages. The characters are interesting, well developed and have incredible chemistry. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC.
