Dan Watters is a UK based comic book writer. His first book, LIMBO, was released through Image Comics in 2016. He has since written THE SHADOW at Dynamite Comics, and ASSASSIN’S CREED and WOLFENSTEIN for Titan Comics.

Currently he is writing the relaunch of LUCIFER for Vertigo’s Sandman Universe, as well as DEEP ROOTS for Vault Comics. Deeply rooted in London Town, and firmly of the Devil's party.

This series confuses me, honestly. I still don't understand Jon's characterization, the plot is odd and the art isn't my favorite. I think I'm stopping here.

The son of superman vs. an actual sun.


I really liked the conclusion to this story. Felt closer to a classic DC comic. The art and the coloring was great and again, had some really interesting panels. The only complaint I have is that Jon just seemed to be a workaholic and not much more than that. I like the interactions between Jon and Yara but you don’t get the same amount of personality from Jon like you do Wonder Woman. Wouldn’t mind more from this team. Maybe a series were Yara teaches Jon how to properly relax. I think this series would be a decent stand alone trade.

Really liking Yara as opposed to being totally indifferent to Jon makes a combination that leads the story to be tough to follow. The one thing I am grateful for though is the art keeping the original suit design with Yara’s lasso being attached to the leg holster (in JL they’d glossed over that and drawn it like a random garter).

I enjoyed seeing this team up. It was nice to see Jon and Yara work together and the ending was a great finish. The obsession with time and Jon Kent was explained more in this issue and the black hole side story was a nice touch. Yara continues to shine everytime she is on the page. I'm still not a fan of the art for Jon Kent in this one.

Superman and Wonder Woman of "Future State" have a chance to work together more in this issue. I continue to enjoy the mythology-building, specifically around the new Wonder Woman.
