USA TODAY bestselling author and Amazon Top 25 bestselling author, Addison Cain is best known for her dark romances, smoldering paranormal suspense, and twisted alien worlds. Her antiheroes are not always redeemable, her lead females stand fierce, and nothing is ever as it seems.
Deep and sometimes heart wrenching, her books are not for the faint of heart. But they are just right for those who enjoy unapologetic bad boys, aggressive alphas, and a hint of violence in a kiss.
edit: Omfg Amazon banned this book? That's lame. I've given Wren's Song criticism, but I am definitely NOT a fan of Amazon's censorship. It's cool that AC is giving this book away for free. Although I think you have to have a facebook account to get the free book? Or a proof of purchase for Branded?
2nd edit: I've had some people send me pm's asking about this series. As of today 7/12/2020 no new material has been released. All 4 novellas were taken down from Amazon. #1 & 2 were repackaged into Branded while #3 & 4 were repackaged into Silenced.
Currently Branded and Silenced are both available for purchase on Amazon. Silenced is a censored version, the uncensored version can be purchased via different retailers. I'm wondering if Branded is a censored version compared to the original novellas, but AC has made no public statement.
...
I just received AC's newsletter that said she was trying to give readers what they wanted by making Wren's Song into full length books. I appreciate this effort. I really do. The mark has been missed though.
Here's what I and other disenchanted readers would like to know:
-How many books will be in the series? Is it trilogy or what? -Is there a timeline for the series to be completed? -Why is the price so high? $6.99? *This repackaging is not better for readers financially, we're being charged more for it. Originally the four novellas cost $2.99 each, $12 total. This repackaging and price hike now would cost readers $14 total.
If it's a trilogy that means the total price will be about: $21. Frankly, I don't think Wren's Song is worth that much money. It's also not competitive with all the other Omegaverse books on the market.
I hope I don't sound entitled. Currently there are authors that will let me, the reader, know how many books are in a series and will provide a loose timeline of expected release dates. They stick to their word and give a brief update if a release date will be passed. I value authors who choose to communicate in that way with readers, their paying customers, about what's going on with their series.
*If the author truly doesn't know when her series will end, I wish she would just be upfront and tell readers. So her readers can make the choice if they want to go ahead and read the series or wait for it to be complete. Instead she's set expected release dates and passed them with no updates. I totally get authors who may be 'pantsers' and not know when or how long their series will be. I would just appreciate honesty about it, so I can make an informed decision about whether or not I should read their series. The "coming soon" comments at this point do not ring true, and I think that's why some readers are saying they feel "strung along."
I do appreciate the author's attempts to be respectful to her readers. I mean this comment as constructive criticism, and I hope it can be helpful.
*More constructive criticism: Combining the novellas into full length novels does not fully address all the criticism the novellas for Wren's Song received. The content of the novellas themselves are not plot driven. It's sequence after sequence of repetitive rape. It's like random scenes are just strung together. Now, I like my dubcon/noncon just as much as the next gal but I also like plots - full length books with plot progression -a beginning, middle, and end. So, what I'll be looking for in the next book to Wren's Song will be this - plot alongside the dubcon/noncon.
*Some compliments for the author: Wren's Song is one of my favorite Omegaverse worlds, because it reminds me of George Miller's Mad Max. The Warrens is the Wasteland. Even though I've provided constructive criticism, I look forward to this series being complete. I'm so dark and twisted I actually don't even care about the hea ;P but I very much do care about Wren and her boys.
I'm still wondering why Wren is called Jax and not Wren in the book. Like, I'd really like to know if I'm missing something there, lol.
This is just another money grab by this author. This "book" contains the 3-5th novellas of the Wren song series. Don't get sucked into this. Author habitually produces cliffhangers with no end in sight.
I miss the old Addison cain:( she used to publish new stories and they were good. Now she just repackages her old ones:/ Unfortunately for the time being i decided to stop purchasing her books
This is not a book with a beginning, middle and end, it is chapters of a unfinished story with no ending in sight. Addison Cain admitted she is not even working on this series as it did not sell well. So if you are waiting for an ending be prepared to wait years because this author does not complete her books. The author will not states how many book are in this series nor will she post times lines on when her books will be completed. I was a die hard fan of Addison Cain but now I just feel ripped off.
I’m in a dystopian phase and this hit the spot. Call me crazy but i read about 20% of the first book— and don’t get me wrong it’s really good—then decided to see what happens in this book. I know the series in unfinished and I wanted to see if it at least had a semi satisfying conclusion since it’s highly unlike this series will ever be finished. Well I got sucked in and couldn’t put this book down. It’s omegaverse so you know it’s gonna be ott sex and gallons of body fluids splashing everywhere… tbh too much— but it is what it is in omega land. AC lives by the mantra more is more. The ending could have been satisfying in a dystopian way if the last bit with Doll was edited out- it was obviously a set up for the next book that never came to be. So why not mix it. This could have been 5 stars if the ending was cleaned up.
Was not happy with the ending, it just ended! Too much left open or unanswered, too much I didnt like, they never gave up other women never changed, never tried to be any different for wren, she wasnt any better either. It was all weird and although it was a different take on ABO im still not 100% sure I even liked the book. 🤷🏻♀️
God, I want to hate this book. Mostly because it's not a very happy book. The people are mostly all flawed. I don't know if there will ever be a happy ending for the heroine. It's just a slow descent into the worse and worse. The people are cruel. The scenes are so filthy. Filled with lots of fluids. Not the sexy kind of degradation, but real loss of hope one paper cut at a time. But at the same time, there's the kind of hope that one clings to as just the realistic kind that can only exist because there's no other hope that can exist here.
I would normally want to say 4 because of my own personal preferences. But the book is crafted. I know I can re-read this book multiple times and find little nuggets of insight buried within the pages on each character, their motivations, their flaws, and their coping mechanisms. Not sure what year she wrote this book compared to others, but it seems like after the Alpha Claim books the author explores increasingly more taboo subjects, more dystopian ugly worlds. (I am still hoping she gets back to the Irdesian series, but considering how much complexity she's put into her most recent books, I don't know if she can go back and re-write the Irdesian series enough to go back and bring the same level of complexity and horridness in the world).
While my heart push for Caspian, I wonder if this experience will ultimately break him. I see Toby as much smarter and sinister than just only being the crazy sadist he is. Toby knows he has the ticket that will take apart each member of his pack, and he is just abiding his time. And interestingly, I actually find Rosie one of the most interesting secondary characters because even though she says she will never be friends with Wren, they are tied together because Rosie is a smart and observant as Wren is, and Rosie is seeing a mirror in Wren, what she once was. And Rosie is a survivor just trying to carve a space for where she can be. Throwing in another character, Dollface, I just hope she doesn't become dangerous to Wren, but it's like a slow train wreck that I can't stop watching.
Plot twists make every successive chapter more complex and hideous in how f'd up their pack situation is fighting over this one woman. This is an amazing book on how terrible a world it creates for the reader, and how terribly grey the world is. The reader can only look for those little silver linings a day at a time through Wren's eyes because that's all that can be enjoyed.
Many will recognize this second book in the series as it was previously released in smaller novellas but the author has combined all of them to offer two longer books which is a plus for new readers. For readers who are aware of the Omegaverse universe and are looking for books in the genre, you will truly be able to appreciate this book. You will feel for the Omega and root for her to succeed in her endeavors to save her family. You will also be like most of us and have a love and hate relationship with all the Alphas in this book. They are twisted and cruel, yet they can be sweet and kind in their own messed up way towards the Omega.
This series is really not recommended for any readers who do not understand the Omegaverse genre. Addison Cain writes dark, twisted, non-con Omegaverse. There are other lighter and saner Omegaverse authors out there so I recommend you start with those first. Otherwise, welcome to the deprave world Addison Cain has created and join the rest of us readers as we eagerly await the next installment in this series.
If you liked the last book, you’ll like this one since it follows the same pattern, pacing, style, smut levels. If you didn’t like the first… well then why are you reading this one?
I would have given 5 stars except that the ending completely bombed the book. I’m tempted to drop it down to 3 stars, and this just because of the last 15% of the book. The ending just, doesn’t make sense. I mean fully, it’s incomprehensible. We jump between POVs of different characters, in different seemingly unrelated scenarios.
I had to read other people’s reviews to understand that it makes no sense because it’s a cliffhanger and the series was meant to keep going. However, this was published 4 years ago and the author hasn’t said when she’ll finish the series, so it seems there’s a high chance it will never be finished (and that the author does this a lot). A final book and wrap up of this story could help improve the awful ending of this one and assuage people’s disappointment.
Look, it is good but it is written in a really odd third person. I did enjoy it, and though not as good as the first instalment, I want to read on…. But I don’t know if the second instalment has made me want to read the next one enough that I cough up another $9. This trilogy will end up costing me $27… each book is really short - it’s a lot of money, and I am all for supporting this author as I am a fan, I also need to eat, you know?
This hot fix of alpha males and steamy pheromones made this woman hot. I can say that this book has definitely enhanced my love life with my husband. The main character, brings to the life of a young girl just wanting to raise the orphans of The Warrens, making my emotions rollercoaster, to give voice to her silence. I cannot wait for the third book to be written. Until then I will reread this book again and again.
Well, I guess I have read this addition to the series. This here was very dark. Very!!! I know of no other that compare. For me it borders demented/crazy. However imma ride & die kinda chick here, and as I’m very invested in this underground & underworld undertakings. I need a conclusion, Addison, please fix this & end this series it’s about darn time. Thanks.
Terrible storybuild with no apparent beginning, progress , ending , its basically a repetitive loophole of rape all over creepiness? I dont think this is what the author initially aimed for but thats what it looks like to me there's literally zero progress or unique events , and its left on a cliffhanger so before reading just remember that this author never finishes her books (well not never technically some series are finished) so it's really not worth it
Well DAMNNNNN! Book 2 blows book 1 out of the mud (pun intended 🤣). The character development is off the charts in this one. Still very much a dark theme with dubious consent galore, but the big bads aren’t as distant, emotionless pricks. They show feelings y’all! My main intrigue involves the second and his doll. Like what is happening there? I need a book 3, for more answers for sure lol.
This was an epically disappointing ending to Wren's story. It felt half-assed at best, sloppy and lazy at worst. I've heard so many good things about this author and I can't help but wonder why?
There was no ending to this story!! How did Toby whisk away Wren without the other Alphas noticing and what made him sneak her away. So many unanswered questions.
Ok I was waiting and waiting for these men to redeem themselves. But they did and didn’t. I’m also super upset with that sort of ending. It didn’t give any finality. It just the story up in the air. I would have given it a 5 but with that ending? Nope.
Everything feels so…unresolved. It lacks the depth that some of Cain’s other books have. This does not feel like it has properly concluded. Too open-ended and Wren is a lost cause at the end. There is nothing to root for which is a letdown.
These evil alphas and yet they somehow with your writing have redeeming qualities. I want alpha 1 to see her love for him and make things right to give hope but this story keeping me on the edge. Wondering is there a HEA!!
This is one of my favorite dirty depraved omegaverse series. I just wish it was continued. Jax's story feels so incomplete. It is a super unique story and i would love to learn what else happens.
Cain will have you begging for more with this series! She knows how to write all the twists and turns that will leave you squirming in your seat. Wren is the ultimate survivor!
