Finding Home in Redemption

Rate this book
When twenty-two-year-old Bentley Cooper fed the homeless stranger across the street, she never imagined that it would alter her life forever. Months later, she shocks even herself when she gives him a job and moves him into her home.

As time passes, she begins to question why Aaron disappears every night but is met with his refusal to answer. He isn't the only one harboring secrets, though, and when Bentley's past comes barreling into the picture, Aaron's situation almost goes up in flames.

I'm a horrible person. I received this book way back in 2017 in exchange for a review. I wanted to give this book, and a couple of others, a true chance with me and I kept waiting. You see, if you know me and read my reviews, you know I'm a harsh critic. Rarely do I love a book. I've been in a deep, deep reading slump for the past three or four years, and I realized that I'll probably never fully get out of it. So I knew that I just had to read the books, reading slump or not, as I had said yes to read them. I hope the author doesn't get mad at me for reading it so late, or reading it at all now. I know that there's a chance that the book has been altered since I got this ARC so be aware that the newest release - if it has one - might be different from the one I'm reading now.

The review:
The book centers around Bentley Cooper (22) who decides to help the homeless man who lives near her apartment. She later learns that his name is Aaron Fitzpatrick (32) and that he is a kind and good man. However, there are some things that he is hiding for her, and she is keeping a secret of her own. Can this slow-burn relationship survive the secrets? Overall this was a very cute book. Not much happened and the only thing they did to each other "sexually" was kissing. However, the story itself was still nice and sweet and still enjoyable. I found myself surprised that I was actually enjoying myself. I had just been putting it off for so long for reasons above that I had so low expectations. It was nicely written and truly a slow-burn romance. Like truly.

I felt like the ending was a bit rushed and something overall was missing from the book, yet I can't put my finger on it. Perhaps I just needed more sexual tension? I am a shallow person after all. That said I don't like the too much use of "!" and sadly, I was pretty sure I know Aaron's story; . I also wished Aaron was more dominant/alpha male, but sometimes it's nice to meet someone who is as nice as him. And there was some small things that bothered me with Bentley, but it wasn't enough to ruin the book for me. I think this was a good read that has huge potential to be great if something more happened.

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (A) Contemporary Romance (M/F).
Series: - Series, Book One.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Aaron Fitzpatrick.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Unsure.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Sure, if you like sweet and no sex.
Will I read this again in the future? - No.
Rating - 3 Stars.

This was such a great story, I haven’t read something with this kind of plot before so it was something new for me.

I really liked the heroine in this book. Bentley was named after a car which is quite ironic since she fears to ride in any sort of car lol!! She is a sweet, strong, likeable character. She meets a homeless man, feeds him, gives him a job and lets him stay at her house.

Aaron is the 'homeless man'. I had mixed feeling about him, in the beginning he refused to even acknowledge her then later he told her to stop feeding him which I sort of understood because she did spent tons on him. We learn about Aaron’s past, he was a lonely child, since his mother didn’t want him he was always switching from foster homes. He got involved in some bad stuff with his foster brother but I’m glad he changed his path around and did something much better with his life. We find out more about Aaron later on in the book and oh my I wasn’t prepared for the twist!! All that time I thought wrong about Aaron and he was completely someone else!

Overall, it was a great read with a plot which I had never expected. Go and read without any spoilers! :)

*Arc received from author, in exchange for an honest review*

This was an incredibly sweet romance that had me smiling for most of the book. You instantly fell in love with Bentley because of her big heart and her need to take care of Aaron. It's easy to fell in love with Aaron too, secrets and all because even though you don't know his whole story, you know he's a genuinely good guy. You start to figure out parts of Aaron's story along the way, but when you get the whole picture, it's so unexpected and I loved the surprise.
The romance was adorable. They started out as friends and slowly built a love and trust for each other. And that love carried them through when secrets were revealed and the trust was strained.
I loved how at the end of the book, you're taken years down the road to see how their future plays out and how their dreams are achieved in many ways.
I really liked the side characters as well. Bentley's dad and best friend were funny and there for her when she needed them most.
Looking forward to more from this author.

I was lucky enough to be a BETA reader for this book, so I've seen many changes from start to finish and wow! I know how much work went into this book and I love the finished product.

I think Bentley is different from a lot of female main characters because she is so independent and doesn't back down from her feelings and I love that. Brennan is great too and I love that he is so honest and self-sacrificing. There were so many times that I just wanted them to be together already, but I'm glad that they held out to be together at the right time.

If you're looking for a feel good story with a great twist, this is definitely a book you'll want to read!
