Lauren Pauling and Michael Tallon is back in A Man With Nothing To Loose. This is another great thriller in The Jack Reacher Cases series by Dan Ames. A family is almost wiped out and the badly wounded survivor only have two things to say Lauren Pauling and Reacher. Why was the family gunned down and will Tallon like his gift? If you like me have a soft spot for Reacher then you should try this series. It is a great addition to the Reacher universe. You should also now that Dan Ames is a marvelous author, he is one of the last pulp fiction writers and a great master of hard boiled detectives. He has through the years written several series and stand alones that are very varied in style and I have still not found a book I didn't like.

"What a beautiful lake."
Pauling is asked for by a young women drifting in and out of a coma after being shot in the back in the home where her entire family - mother, father, young brother and sister - have just been murdered. But Pauling had never before heard of her. Learning that Michelle Chang had once worked alongside Jack Reacher, however, she heads for Milwaukee and calls for Tanner to join her when the woman is attacked again.
This is number 17 of Dan Ames' series of thrillers, starring ex-CHI agent, Lauren Pau!ing and her special forces lover, Tallon, under the collective title The Jack Reached Cases. All have been quick to read, fun and thrilling but this book, for me, was by far the best
Great story, and stand alone for anyone who has not been following the series.

A Man With Nothing to Lose - a review by Rosemary Kenny

In night-time Milwaukee, the Chang family are gunned down by a sniper in their own apartment.
Which of PI Michelle Chang's family is the target?

I received a review copy from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion. You know the old saying about good things coming in small packages? Well, this is a case of great things coming in small packages. This novella has everything a thriller fan looks for: action, suspense, curveballs, and expected/unexpected bad guys. Mr. Ames continues to create great characters who are unique, authentic, and not over-blown; the dialogue flows naturally and easily, and the descriptions of the locations, clothing, food, etc, are not too detailed or overdone; just enough to allow the reader to clearly picture where the action is taking place. If you are looking for an easy read, something that will be well worth your time, I highly recommend this series.

A great cover, within a great story. A family was taken out with double tap firings -a professional killing. The shooter’s reputation doing the toughest jobs, with clinical procedures, no loose ends till now.
He now knew he was a man with nothing to lose.
One survivor had written Laura Pauling on a piece of paper. Later awakening just to say Reacher. Pauling calls Talon to come to Milwaukee to help.
Word by word you read as you try to grasp, why kill all in a family.
Great story , great series
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion .

A man with Nothing to Lose. Dan Ames

Former FBI investigator and retired private investigator Pauling received a call from a Milwaukee homicide detective involving a murder investigation. Four family members murdered and a fifth in critical condition. Before slipping into a coma she told a doctor to contact Pauling. What ensues is a complex case involving a secret or rather well concealed organization willing to terminate anyone who stands in there way. Another fast paced and enjoyable read in this series!!

This is another very fast paced, very action paced story in this series. It will take hold of you from page one and will not let go until you are done. I love how this story has a tie with a Jack Reacher story. The reader will also enjoy Pauling and Tallon together again to solve this mystery. This story has a lot of twists and turns and is another wild ride.

Another fast paced mystery. What is Lauren Pauling's connection to the lone survivor of a family that was killed? And who is behind a group of men who appear to have military training and committed the killings? And why does it look like someone is trying to steel Pauling in the wrong direction? You won't be able to put this book down until you get all of the answers.

Pauling gets pulled to Milwaulkee where a family was recently murdered. When she gets there, the killers attempt to clean up the remaining clues. As a quick read, the book will provide a couple of days entertainment.

One of the Best

A well devised story. While I can’t be sure without digging through earlier books, I believe LP had encountered Michelle Chang in an earlier book, though in this one she says she’s never heard of her. Other than that a relatively fast moving story.

This is a great story, one of Ames better ones. Things keep happening and it is quite a twisted mystery to try and unravel. It turns out Michael Tallon’s experiences playa major role in unraveling it. Well done, love it. 5
