After Charlotte’s father died, her mother changed. She became cold and distant, and Charlotte slowly withdrew into herself. She spent years feeling lonely and insignificant, and rarely spoke more than a few words to anyone. One night, after a traumatic incident instigated by her mother, Charlotte is arrested and taken to juvie.
A year later, Charlotte’s being released from juvie for the second time. Instead of an awful group home, her social worker brings a welcome surprise: Charlotte’s long-forgotten uncle, Arthur, who is all too eager to help her after everything she's been through. When Charlotte learns that Arthur has a step-son her age, she’s even more apprehensive. How could he not resent having a stranger thrust into his home and family?
To her surprise and relief, Sebastian is kind and friendly. He and his four best friends—Grayson, Remy, Liam, and Elliot—make Charlotte feel welcome. They never make Charlotte feel badly about her past or her anxiety. They make her feel seen. As she gets to know the boys, she realizes they each have their own issues and demons they’re fighting, and she forms a unique bond with their group.
It doesn’t help that they’re ridiculously attractive. How could Charlotte not fall in love with all five of them?

The cutest, fluffiest YA read ever! Super duper slow-burn RH with a bunch of adorable misfit characters who have all been through hell and still manage to see the good in life. This book is a fantastic starting point for those just getting into RH, especially teenage readers.
Huuuuuge congratulations on your first published novel!!! I'm so proud ❤
Pages: 335 My rating: 4.5 MC: Charlotte, Sebastian, Elliot, Liam, Grayson, Remy SC: Arthur, Eva, Evelyn, Ann
This is a cute rh young adult contemporary romance. The FMC went through a lot of thing before she ended up at her uncles place and she befriended a group of boys pretty quickly. And the romance is very slow going.
After reading other book written by Willow Hadley, I reread this one. After my first read I felt something is missing, but the second time - after knowing Willow Hadley's work better, I don't feel this way anymore. I think that the first book of the series introduces us to five troubled teenage boys and how they form a friendship with Charlotte a troubled girl. But in truth they are slowly but surely fall for each other. I like that each one of the characters have a troubled past but they are all better now. And even if sometimes the past brings issues to their today life they try to deal with it. There are adults around, who support them and they support each other. The book has a wholesome feeling to it and I enjoyed the wholesomeness a lot.
Sadly I can't stop comparing it to Ghost Bird, and I say sadly because I think it was a great book. I liked the h, so it's something. She was sweet but savage. The H were okay too but nothing new. I'll be reading the next one.
That was not good. Plain FMC that keeps repeating she’s not beautiful and special by saying everyone tells her she’s beautiful and special. 5 perfect, funny, smart, hot guys all in love with her. A reverse harem, you think. Eh. The guys all share one single braincell and the braincell has a crush on Charlotte. No plot whatsoever, feels more like a teenager’s diary. “We went to the gym. They’re hot. We went to eat pizza. They’re cute.” And the giggles. Good God the giggles!! 56 times. 56 times the author wrote “I giggled/he giggled” or some variation. EDIT: 79 times if you count the "giggling" too. ugh.
I am all for silly, light, easy romances, but this should have just stayed on Wattpad.
I have been really in the mood for slow burn RH, and this one fit the bill. Now, this is a story that did hook me in and I automatically went on to read book 2, but there are several things I didn’t love.
I felt like this book started off well, in Charlotte’s POV, and I liked the introduction of the guys. Charlotte is sweet and pretty and girly, everyone falls in love with her right away. I think a bit more of a prolonged time before they were all falling all over her would’ve been beneficial. The instalove in a slow burn like this isn’t really doing anyone any favors.
In their POVs, they all sound the exact same, even to Charlotte. The writing comes off very repetitive, everyone is so “sweet” “cute” “nice”, it just comes across too young. YA does not mean this is how teenagers have to sound.
I also feel like the author wanted the male characters to be the losers/weirdos of the school, but I felt like it wasn’t totally fitting to their character? It felt very split and didn’t mesh well to me. Charlotte also has trauma from her past, spent time in juvie, but everything was fine until sometimes when it wasn’t. She has anger issues sometimes so she’ll punch someone, but ?? Idk, it didn’t flow to me those times.
This is real slow burn, even book 2, and while I like the guys and even Charlotte for the most part, the writing style almost made me give up. Otherwise, an enjoyable instalove friends to lovers RH.
Virgin fmc, 3 of the guys are virgins, 2 are not No OW/OM in this book No MM
I LOVED this book - and if you’ve got pretty high grammatical standards, a love for strong female leads, a preference for slow-medium burn, a special mushy place in your heart reserved for sweet, caring guys and an obsession with rh romance, then I can guarantee that you’ll love it too!
Charlotte is badass in a way that feels natural - she’s not a prodigy, she just throws punches and *SPOILER ALERT KINDA* stabs people (ok one person, and he deserved it ok?!) and defends herself in all the ways that she can. More importantly though, she stands up for herself, doesn’t take any bullshit, but is also sweet and caring enough to that she’ll forgive and forget easily. I absolutely adooored her friendship with the guys, it felt pretty natural and real and they were all such sweethearts!
I definitely got some Ghost Bird Series vibes, buuuut unlike other books I’ve read in this genre that were practically bad fanfiction of that series, this one felt more “inspired” by it and enough was different that I could ignore any small resemblances.
If you like sweet romances, I’d urge you to consider giving this book a shot. It’s worth it, trust me (written by a person who just got 3 hours of sleep bc of this darned book but has no regrets).
(Rated on a RH standard, I’d say it’s up there with the best of this genre, but compared to a “normal” book I’d maybe give it a **** instead of ***** star review ;))
“ what kind of girl falls in love with five different boys at the same time?” -Charlotte
For Charlotte moving again is nothing new lately.. only this time she’s moving in with Arthur, her estranged uncle and his stepson.. Charlottes dad died and her mom well we won’t talk about her..for all the things that she’s been through since losing her father.. Charlotte is incredibly strong and well adjusted.. it doesn’t take long for Sebastian and his four friends to change her world and turn it upside down.. Arthur gives her a home that she could only dream about..each one of the boys have been through some thing similar to her past.. they do everything they can to include Charlotte and it does hurt that she’s gorgeous.. Charlotte may not believe them but she sure does want to kiss them... This story sets up the making of an epic series.. it is a YA/ Rh and it’s too sweet.. I have a feeling someone from Charlottes past will be coming back around.. when you read it tell me what you think?
This story says sometimes family is what you make it and not what you are born in to.. I love how they all sort of made each other along with Arthur family.. I look forward to book two .. You should definitely read this sweet read!
#1.. I was so horribly thrown off by the extremely immature use of the word "giggle"... Almost 100 incidences of the word, or forms of it...giggle, giggles, giggling...giggled... It was ridiculous. And annoying and nearly made me toss the book.
#2.. We FINALLY find out what happened to the fmc and that's great and all that but, idk, something just seemed off about it all.
#3.. I wouldn't call this a reverse harem. At least not in this book. If being friends with multiple men makes a reverse harem, then I would have had many of episodes my whole life but alas, those men and I are.still...just friends... Always will be. I just get along better with makes than females. Apparently, women think I have too much aggression and I think they are all catty bitches.
#4... Nothing happens. The book is a bust. There were a few cute moments and a few kick as s moments...I mean, hello MIKE.. But I just thought there would be MORE... There wasn't.
#5.. Every time we almost got to the good stuff that other books deliver with no issues, this author backs off. It's almost as if the book was written by a preteen just discovering boys... It sucked.
I want to like it. And I did...at first but it's just not fulfilling.
This book really has a lot of potential, it's quite obvious the main focus is on the characters, which I like, but I also like a solid plot that pushes the story forward and that's where I dragged my feet sometimes, wanting things to speed up, revolve around something else than just getting to know eachother in very mundane situations. I do love the multiple points of view, allowing us to see different perspectives on the story.
Overall it was a very sweet read, basically no drama. I hope to get that extra spark in the next book!
This book turned out to be not too bad. I was worried at parts, because I found myself not wanting to continue. I pushed through, and I'm glad I did. I really want book two now.
I was quite excited to read this book after looking at all the positive reviews. I felt like a lot of stuff was unbelievable and the narration was too descriptive. I also felt like the characters didn't behave like 16 years old but like children.
After Charlotte’s father died, her mother changed, first becoming distant, but later drinking, partying, and placing Charlotte into sketchy and even dangerous situations. One night it went too far and Charlotte ended up doing time in juvie after trying to protect herself. The next year is a cycle of juvie and group homes as Charlotte retreats more into herself until her case worker tracks down her uncle. Arthur immediately steps up for his niece horrified with her living conditions. Scared, Charlotte moves in with the uncle she has never known and his stepson Sebastian. Sebastian is warm and welcoming, as are his friends Grayson, Remy, Liam, and Elliot. With their easy friendship Charlotte enjoys the best summer of her life settling in and getting to know each of the guys. As she gets to know them, she realizes they each have their struggles to; they are her kindred spirits.
This story seemed like The Veil Diaries Lite without the paranormal aspect. The story and the characters stayed a little too much on the surface level for me and the descriptions were too repetitive. I'm hoping that it finds its footing more in book two when they go to school. If the focus is more on their outcast status rather than internal tempers and jealousy and we get to experience the characters rather than being told about them, this could turn out to be an entertaining series.
This was a good read, I enjoyed it a lot when I read it though unfortunately I don't remember much of it now. I recall liking the characters and the story. Would recommend.

Such a lovely start to a series. When Charlotte goes to live with her uncle her life changes in ways she never dreamed. He lives with his stepson Sebastian whose friends spend a lot of time there and she finds she has a whole group of friends.
Looking forward to the next book In the series to see where this leads, I tally am enjoying it it so far
Merged review:
A beautiful sweet romance, I found it to be well written and a real page turner. Charlotte has not had a great life but things are looking up for her when her uncle takes her in. The boys are just do sweet and loving to her, I thoroughly enjoyed it
I think I spent a majority of this book with a little smile on my face, that’s how sweet and adorable this book was. Full disclosure, I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this book after reading the blurb but I had heard great things about it so I felt I needed to give it a try. I ended up finishing this in one sitting and I had to double check that I had actually read the last page. I feel like absolutely no time had passed from when I started this book to when it ended, I was so enraptured by the characters and the story that I don’t think I checked the time once. It was such a captivatingly good book.
I’m loving this book now but I feel like I could’ve also read it when I was around the same age as these characters and loved it just the same. However, maybe I have more appreciation for some of the things that the characters have gone through since I am a bit older than them now. It’s a sweet story. I really don’t know how else to describe it. I love seeing how the characters played off one another and learned more about each other. There were some tough topics and I like that things weren’t brushed over, actions and feelings were validated.
I just enjoyed the story and I highly recommend this book. If you’re looking for something sweet that makes you want to smile, you really will smile like you mean it.
I was hesitant with this one because of how bright and flowery the cover looked, but I’ve been surprised before. Straight away its like biting into cotton candy and then eating too much. The guys were smothering, everyone was protective and doting on Charlotte. Insta like all around. I couldn’t get used to Charlotte. She was girly girl but violent and didn’t hesitate to lash out and be stabby. At the same time she was shy with all the innocent giggles to everything. I liked Grayson because he’s open minded and Remy. I didn’t like Sebastian, the possessiveness and jealousy was annoying. Slow and sickly sweet. I don’t think I’ll be able to read the next one with the mean girls and boys.
Fresh from juvie Charlotte goes to live with her uncle…meeting the guys…shyness and instalike…school signup…bad guy hint popups…best friends all round…jealousy and plans…traumatic truth revealed…end of summer.

I loved this so much! I love that the characters for the age they are actually act it. The guys are super protective of Charlotte but in a good way! It’s such a beautiful story and I highly recommend.
3.5✨️ Haven't read a special snowflake heroine rh in a while, and this was fun! It was fluffy and adorable but it was pretty boring at times. All in all, it was a pretty solid feel-good contemporary rh book.
It's a well written, short and sweet RH. The characters all have defined personalities as well as their issues to overcome, and they mesh well together. It's interesting to see each of the MLS come to terms with their feelings and how that might conflict with the group, especially as some are especially averse to the idea of polyamory while others are afraid to voice the thought. It is missing some tension, but the book focuses more on the characters and their gradual relationship rather than some looming threat. Definitely recommend this one.
Willow has a knack for unveiling worlds and characters with so much depth that you can become completely immersed. Her unique place in the romance genre is her continuous delivery of "sweet" romance.
The kind of stories that take you back to the heart palpitations of a first kiss, first crush, first love. You'll giggle and blush over the embarrassing moments. You may shed a tear over some of the angsty moments. You'll definitely laugh out loud over some of the antics. Above all you'll reminisce and live vicariously.
Sometimes I just want to escape into a book where I know I'm going to feel happy during and after. Those are the times I reach for one of Willows books. We all need some of this sweetness in our reading rotation!
This book has a heavy Ghost Bird/Veil Diaries vibe which I love. I am always searching for books where the guys are all sweet to the heroine and the relationship feels like it grows organically from friendship to more. So far, I love the dichotomy of the characters, especially Charlotte. She seems so sweet and shy but if you make her angry she becomes feisty. I am eager to see if fight training pays off. Since this book is more a character study than a plot driven one, the pacing is slow. You get to know the characters and experience their dynamic with Charlotte as the relationship builds. I think that those who enjoyed the books listed above will also enjoy this one.
This was such a cute fluffy read. The guys where so sweet and i really felt like i needed a sweet read. To be honest i started to read this book a while ago but i got stuck somehow in the beginning which was where i stopped and put it down, until now did i pick it up again and started it all over again. I guessed i was not in the mood for that kind of read or i just had a hard time getting into it then. Which is hard to believe cuz i really liked this book. The heroine Charlotte is very shy and so so kind. She reminded me a little bit of Sang from the Ghost bird series, they both are very shy and their childhood was not good at all cuz of their "mothers" , they still care about people even if they don´t deserve their kindness. But what i loved was when Charlotte got real pissed off and her crazy side was showing. How see kicked ass and defended herself(and the guys), that was great. the guys where so sweet and caring of the heroine, took her under their wing the moment they saw each other. Thank god for that, i am tired of assholes only, lol there is so many of them. So we have Sebastian, Elliot, Liam, Remy and Grayson. Sebastian was the most jealous guy out of all of em, which sometimes annoyed me. He loved to take photos. Elliot was the outgoing guy i think and he played football. Liam liked to read comics and was the only who was rich. Remy loved art, to paint and draw. And Grayson was the musician and he played guitar and could also sing. They all where nerds which i loved to see, it´s not that often when the whole group is nerds and also not popular in school. I feel like it´s usually so that the guys is the kings of the school but not this time. I am looking forward to read the next book
